Joseph G. Calamore
WEST HARTFORD -- Joseph G. Calamore, 91, of West Hartford, husband of the late Margaret (McAvoy) Calamore his loving wife of 54 years died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Port Washington , N.Y., and has resided in West Hartford for the past 51 years. He graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and Stone College in New Haven. For approximately 22 years he was Chief Cost Accountant for Chandler Evans Corp., initially and then for the Pratt and Whitney Divisions of Colt Industries. He retired from Hamilton Standard Division of United Technologies Inc. He was an Emeritus Life Member of the Institute of Management Accountants. He was a member of the West Hartford Squires, Wallingford Lodge of Elks, and the Knights of Columbus. He had been active in volunteer work for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and Hartford Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by his son, David J. Calamore of Cloverdale, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard A. (Janet) Gross of Stonington; his grandsons, Bradford and Erik Gross; his dear companion, Doris R. Lansberry.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 So. Main St., West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There are no calling hours. Joseph J. Fuda Sr.
MERIDEN -- Joseph J. Fuda Sr., 73, beloved husband of Carmella Fusco Fuda for 43 years and loving father of Sharon (Fuda) Ostman of Naugatuck, Joseph Fuda Jr. and his wife, Lynn (Mingrino) Fuda of Meriden, Cynthia Fuda of Meriden, Nancy Lynn (Fuda) Walsh and her husband, Robert Walsh of Berlin, Maria Fuda and Jody Fuda, both of Meriden, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at the MidState Medical Center.
Born April 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Zangari Fuda. He attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Mr. Fuda worked for the International Silver Company for 10 years before starting his own construction company in 1953, Fuda & Tiezzi Inc., with his lifelong friend, Benjamin Tiezzi. Mr. Fuda was past president of Fuda & Tiezzi and has continued his association with the company.
Joseph Fuda was a lifelong parishioner of Our lady of Mount Carmel Church. He served there as usher, as a member of its Holy Name Society and as past president of the Mount Carmel Home and School Association. He was a former Meriden Police Commissioner, a long-time member and a past president of the Unison Club of Meriden, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the North Italian Club.
For the past 20 years Mr. Fuda dedicated his heart and soul to the John J. Nerden RTC Camp in Middlefield he served as member and as president of it's Board of Directors. He worked diligently to provide the best in recreational care, programs and facilities for the area's many retarded children and adults.
In addition to his wife and six children, Joseph Fuda is survived by five grandsons (the lights of this life,) Joseph Fuda III, Nicholas Fuda and Jonathan Fuda, all of Meriden and Conor and Patrick Walsh of Berlin; two sisters, Lucille Julius of Meriden and Teresa Marando of Cheshire; and three nephews; a niece: and many friends with whom he enjoyed sharing coffee at Tom's Luncheonette, The Corner Lunch, Steve's Garage and other local establishments. Mr. Fuda was predeceased by his first wife, Claire Bennett Fuda.
His funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 18, at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the John J. Margaret Kreminski
MERIDEN -- Margaret Ivers Kreminski, 91, wife of the late John Kreminski, formerly of Meriden died Thursday, Jan. 9. 2003 in Bradenton, Fla.
Born in Meriden, Sept. 24, 1911, she was the daughter of the late David and Katherine Ivers. Mrs. Kreminski attended St. Joseph's School, Meriden High School and graduated from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Prior to her marriage she worked as a case worker for the Connecticut Department of Social Services.
Mrs. Kreminski was an active Albertus Magnus Alumnae, an active supporter of the Meriden Girl's Club, and a volunteer at the Meriden/Wallingford Hospital. She resided in Meriden, all of her life until 2000 when she relocated to Florida.
She leaves two sons, John Kreminski of Massachusetts and Paul Kreminski of Florida; a grandson; 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services in the presence of her immediate family were held Saturday, Jan. 11, in Bradenton, Fla. A funeral for friends and family in Meriden will be held for Margaret Kreminski on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Adalberto Orozco
EAST HAVEN -- Adalberto Orozco Sr., 59, husband of Delsa Gonzalez Orozco of 173C Thompson St, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003.
Mr. Orozco was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on April 23, 1943, a son of Maria Julia Lopez Orozco and the late Cesario Orozco. He was the pastor of Centro Cristiano Restauracion Church of New Haven, and was also a machine operator for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of New Haven and East Hartford for the past four years. He previously worked for the Textron Lycoming Co. of Stratford for 23 years.
He is also survived by two daughters, Ivette Orozco of Bridgeport and Tanya Vidal of New Haven; two sons, Adalberto Orozco Jr. of East Haven and Roberto Orozco of Wallingford; three sisters, Aida Maldonado, Dolores Queiros and Carmen Torres, all of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Carlos, Jessica, Nicholas James and Vanessa Orozco and Alexis Vidal; and one great-grandson, Alex Orozco.
Quito J. Rossi
SOUTHINGTON -- Quito J. Rossi, 76, of 116 Green Valley Drive, Plantsville section, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley (Aubin) Rossi.
Born June 12, 1926 in Allentown, Pa., son of Philomena (Trotta) Rossi and the late Aurelio Rossi. He owned and operated Rossi Foundation of Southington retiring in 1997, he also owned and operated the former Quito's Cafe for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Rossi was a member of the Sons of Italy, the American Legion, and was once president of the Memorial Midget Football League. Mr. Rossi helped organize the first night time football game at Memorial Park. He was an avid golfer and loved UConn Ladies basketball.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, David Rossi and his wife, Nancy of Wolcott and Rick Rossi of Southington; two daughters, Sharon Boucher and her husband, Kevin of Burlington and Joanne Gagne and her husband, Rob of Harwinton; a brother, Joseph Rossi of Meriden; two sisters, Anne Angels and Letty Benoit, both of Southington; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Rossi.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery
with military honors. Calling hours will be Sunday 3 to 7 p.m.
Esther M. Wallace
CROMWELL -- Esther Moore Wallace, 83, of Cromwell, wife of 61 years of William E. Wallace, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Born on May 20, 1919 in Erie, Kan., she lived most of her life in the Albany, N.Y., area, retiring to Cape Cod, Mass., in 1982. In 2000 she moved to Connecticut. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the Covenant Congregational Church in Cromwell.
Besides her husband, William, she is survived by one son, Jack Wallace and his wife, Gina of Topsham, Maine; two daughters, Marilyn Grina and her husband, Larry of Richmond, Va., and Catherine J. Mahon and her husband, Brian of Meriden; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Covenant Congregational Church, 82 Hicksville Road, Cromwell with Rev. Timothy Stohlberg officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Congregational Church, 82 Hicksville Road, Cromwell, CT 06416 or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Emily Watterworth
SOUTHINGTON -- Emily (Spierto) Watterworth, formerly of 21 Garden Drive, died Jan. 5, 2003 at the Tandem Heatlth Care. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Watterworth.
She was born in Waterbury, daughter of the late Anthony and Rosina Spierto. She was the owner and operator of the former Town and Country Diner in Southington from 1960 until 1977. Mrs. Watterworth was a member of the Plainville Senior Center and the bowling and chorus Group.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Watterworth of Waterbury, Henry Watterworth of California; two daughters, Karen Grover of Plantsville and Marguerite McEnerney and her husband, Robert of Waterbury; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, John and Marshall Watterworth.
The funeral will be Tuesday, Jan 21, 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery
in Waterbury. Calling hours will be Monday 5 to 7 p.m.
Robert I. Chall
ENFIELD -- Robert "Bob" I. Chall, 73, of Enfield entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs.
Bob was born on Feb. 16, 1929 in Meriden, the son of Mary (Wactowski) Chall and the late Irving H. Chall. He was the husband of 52 years to Eunice A. (Lietz) Chall. Bob was a graduate of Meriden High School, class of 1947. He resided in Enfield for the past 40 years. Bob served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After serving in the Army Bob was employed by Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks for over 10 years and then with the former Crosier and Race Printing Co., in Hartford for 10 years. Bob was an avid NFL Giants fan and enjoyed bird watching.
Besides his beloved wife, Eunice, he is survived by his loving daughters, Sandra McCann and her husband, Daniel and Deborah Schnaars Chall, all of Enfield; Bob was a devoted grandfather who was happiest when spending time with his five grandchildren, Jennifer McCann and her fiance', Steven Wilcox, Kelly McCann, Derek Schnaars, Phillip Schnaars and Rebecca Schnaars; her leaves his sister, Barbara Chall of Meriden; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Bob will be private at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours.
