Stella Moniewski

MERIDEN -- Stella Tyczenski Moniewski, 86, formerly of 206 Olive St., died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Sigmund A. Moniewski.

Born March 10, 1916, in Thomaston, she was the daughter of the late John and Leocadio Bartioszewicz Tyczenski. A kind and gentle woman, she enjoyed her children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, talking on the telephone and shopping with her husband "Zig" and with her daughter, Jane

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Manning of Pittsburgh, Pa. and a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Couture Ohler and Gunther Ohler of Meriden; two grandchildren, Norman J. Couture Jr. of Meriden and Aimee Choinere of Portland; two great-grandchildren, Marisa Couture and Noelle Couture of Meriden.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are the direction of the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.

Donalda M. Allard

WALLINGFORD -- Donalda M. Gamelin Allard, 81, of Jenna Road, formerly of Hope Hill Road, Wallingford, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Omer A. Allard, who died in May of this year.

Born in Manchester, N.H., Aug. 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Henry and Marie Martineau Gamelin, she had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She had been foster mother for the State of Connecticut for 37 years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Thomas H. Keithan, with whom she resided; and her two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond G. and Zalita A. Allard, and Robert R. and Kathleen L. Allard, all of Wallingford; her 12 grandchildren, Jamie R. Keithan of Wallingford, Cristen M. Barriera of Meriden, Stephanie L. Keithan of New Haven, Christopher M. Keithan of Wallingford, Donald Allard of Wallingford, Jeffrey LaMoria of Meriden, Mark R. Allard of Wallingford, Craig R. Allard of Clinton, Melissa R. Bilotta of Woodbridge, Robert R. allard, Jr. of Waterbury, Tracy B. Allard of Wallingford and Scott T. Allard of Bennington, Vt.; seven great-grandchildren, Celina M. Keithan, Makayla M. Hanser, Caylee N. Allard, Cameron M. Allard, Peter J. Allard, Joseph F. Allard and Joshua LaMoria; her two sisters, Cecile Morin and Rita Gagnon, both of Manchester, N.H.; and her brother, Roger Gamelin of Spartanburg, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Pauline LaMoria; two sisters, Marie Yergeau and Doris Duncan; and a brother, Albert Gamelin.

Her family will receive relative and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville section of Wallingford, Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Viola C. Carretta

WALLINGFORD -- Viola Corciullo Carretta, 78, of Pequot Road, beloved wife of August E. Carretta, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Elim Park Healthcare Center in Cheshire.

Born in Middletown, April 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Gesario and Rose Cazzetta Corciullo, she had been a Wallingford resident for 48 years. She had been employed as a seamstress at Feldman's Dress Factory until her retirement, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.

Besides her husband, August, she is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Lester Hanisko of Yalesville, and Mary and Scott McCoid of Ivoryton; her two grandsons, Daniel Hanisko of Yalesville and Colin McCoid of Ivoryton; her sister, Helen (Mrs. Emil) Briasco of Middletown; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Eleanor Corciullo of Cromwell; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Mrs. Joseph) Dzeima, Anita (Mrs. Walter) Wasilewski, Eugene and Audrey Carretta, John and Delma Carretta, all of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph W. Carretta; three sisters, Angelina Augeri, and Josephine Randazzo and Victoria Bartolotta; a brother, Vincent Corciullo and her sister-in-law, Polly Restighini.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville section of Wallingford, Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. James M. Duffy Sr.

MERIDEN -- James Marvin Duffy Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at the Regency House in Wallingford on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002. He was the husband of Shirley Siering Duffy.

He was born in Waterbury on Dec. 11, 1916, a son of the late Harold and Sarah Shaw Duffy. He was a volunteer for the Lions Club, and coached Little League Baseball. He was employed as a press operator at Coggins Castings for over 20 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah and Deen Budd of Meriden; three sons, James M. Duffy Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., Wayne E. Duffy of Meriden, and Donald and Carla Duffy of Enfield; six grandchildren, David Budd, Heather Tangney, Patrick Duffy, Connie Duffy, Michael Duffy Sr., and Justin Duffy; and a great-grandson, Michael Duffy Jr. He was predeceased by a son, William G. Duffy.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Please sign guest book at www.beecherbennett.com. Robert C. Griffin Sr.

SOUTHINGTON -- Robert C. Griffin Sr., 78, of 133 Loper St., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at home peacefully after a long illness. He was the husband of Shirley (Johnson) Griffin.

Born in Southington on Sept. 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Chester H. and Edith M. (Graham) Griffin. He was a graduate of Lewis High School class of 1942. Robert had been the longtime owner and operator of one of the town's oldest dairy farms, that was located on Queen St.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Wayne Griffin and his wife, Lynn of Las Vegas, Nev., Gary and his special friend, Paula Jacobson of Southington, Bruce and his wife, Linda of Standardsville, Va., and Robert C. Griffin, Jr. and his wife, Vickie of Sulphur, La.; a daughter, Ann G. Olender and her fiancé, Michael P. Egan of Southington; along with 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and business partner, Ray Gooding of Southington. He was predeceased by his brother, William; and sister, Shirley Noble.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St., in Southington. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice V.N.A., 40 East St., Plainville, CT 06062.

Barbara Kelly

MERIDEN -- Barbara Mallon Kelly, 64, of 360 Broad Street, wife of Robert V. Kelly, died Friday morning, Dec. 6, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Stewart Mallon, she had resided in Meriden for some 20 years. She graduated from St. Brendan High School and St. John's University, and attended Wesleyan University. Mrs. Kelly was employed by Houghton Mifflin Company as an education consultant for 27 years before retiring in 1993. Prior to Houghton Mifflin Company, Mrs. Kelly was a teacher in the New York public schools and in the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, having taught in Okinawa and Germany.

Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Maureen Watson of Long Island, Eileen Donovan of Staten Island, and Patricia and Patrick Keane of Long Island; also several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial Mass to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to MidState VNA & Hospice, 658 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Margaret T. Kosnoff

WALLINGFORD -- Margaret T. Kosnoff, 84, formerly of High Hill Rd., Wallingford, entered into rest eternal Dec. 8, 2002. She was the widow of John Kosnoff.

Margaret was retired from Wallace Silversmith where she worked for 17 years.

She was born Dec. 10, 1917, in Wallingford, the daughter of the late Louis and Eleanora Bakas Tanch; sister of Helen Kosa of Eastford, Mrs. Nicholas (Irene) Fekete, Sr., Julia Kavanaugh, Elmer and James Tanch, all of Wallingford, and the late Martha Fekete and Louis Tanch; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section O, New Haven. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements in care of Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Ave.

Stanley Kuczynski

BERLIN -- Stanley Kuczynski, 89. of E. Berlin and formerly of Wallingford, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Erma Marie Kuczynski.

Born in New Haven, Stanley was the son of the late Alexander and Antoinette (Dobrynski) Kuczynski. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney in E. Hartford for 25 years.

Stanley is survived by his daughters, Mary Palinkos and her husband, Michael of Southington and Lori Freeland and her husband, Timothy of E. Berlin; grandchildren, Colleen, Brian and Mackenzie Freeland and Emily, Meghan, Kathryn and Erin Palinkos; also a brother, Peter Cousins of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John; and sisters, Jean Sogan and Felicia Pilchowski.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 Main St. in Southington. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Donations may be made in his memory to the Elim Park Baptist Home, 140 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410.

Ethel M. Meyer

WOLCOTT -- Ethel May (Cashman) Meyer, 85, formerly of 54 Tame Buck Road, died Sunday, Dec. 8, at Country Side Manor in Bristol. She was the wife of Charles W. Meyer, Jr.

Mrs. Meyer was born, June 19, 1917, in Litchfield a daughter of the late Ira Patrick and Mary (Alson) Cashman. She was educated in Waterbury schools and was a floral designer at Nyren's florist in Southington. She had also worked at the Oakville Pin Shop for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she had been a choir member.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Gary W. Meyer of Plantsville; a daughter, Cheryl A. Freyer of Wolcott; a sister, Ruth Clark of Florida; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Charlene P. Meyer of Wolcott; and a sister, Doris Hoard of Waterbury are deceased.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Alderson funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. to Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St. in Southington for services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. until the procession leaves for church.
