Susan E. Kaczor

RESEDA, Calif. -- Susan E. Kaczor, 46 of Reseda, Calif., and Durango, Colo., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 with her partner, James Craig, in an automobile accident.

Susan was born June 1, 1956 in Meriden, and was the daughter of Edward and Barbara Kaczor of Meriden. A graduate of Maloney High School, she was a dog groomer in Meriden before moving to California in 1979, where she continued to groom, eventually becoming owner/operator of the renowned Stella's Bowser Boutique in West Hollywood. For the past 13 years she raised and bred champion Cairn Terriers through her Bonawe Kennel.

In addition to her parents, Susan is survived by a sister, Karen Keene and her husband, Fred; two brothers, Robert Kaczor and his wife, Joanne and Thomas Kaczor; four nieces and nephews, Lisa Dummitt, Angela Baldassari, Sarah Kaczor and Michael Kaczor; three great-nieces and nephews, Joshua, Jayden and Jazmine Dummitt, all of Meriden; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church in California on Saturday and at St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden on Monday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. for both Susan and James. Burial will be private at the convenience of the families. Should friends desire, gifts in Susan's memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America Inc., 1300 Piccard Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, Md 20850-4303 or to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 511 East John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 700, Irving, Texas 75062.

Frederick G. Link

MERIDEN -- Frederick G. Link, 62, of McKenzie Ave., died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Meriden, Aug. 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Elton and Margaret (McMahon) Link. He had resided in Meriden all of his life, attended Wilcox Technical High School, and owned and operated a contracting business until an accident 27 years ago. Mr. Link served during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corps., was a former member of Holy Angels Church, and a member of the Meriden Senior Citizens.

He is survived by two sisters, Sharon Cioffi of South Meriden and her friend, Edward Ohr of Wallingford, Janice and Richard Cotrona of Berlin; one brother, Thomas Link of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery, where he will be interred with his mother. There will be no calling hours. Military honors will be accorded by a composite unit of the Meriden Antique Veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Mary C. Martin

WALLINGFORD -- Mary C. Martin, 80, formerly of 3 Southside Terrace died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Wadsworth Glen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Martin.

She was born in Wallingford, Jan. 10, 1922, a daughter of the late Timothy and Mary C. Knupp Carmody. She had been a lifelong resident of the Tracy section of Wallingford and a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection. Mary's life touched so many people and she loved them all in her special way. A special thanks to Wadsworth Glen Healthcare Center for the excellent and loving care and friendship she was given.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (Martin) and Vincent Coratella of Durham; a son, James E. Martin and friend, Michael Cornish of Manchester; two sisters, Agnes Jobbagy of Middletown and Julia Leigus of Durham; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Thomson, Liane Dillard, Susan Klavins, Victor Soboleski, Thomas Martin, Sheila Frangione and Kenneth Martin; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas "Huck" Martin; and five sisters, Alice Lee, Ruth Dondero, Loretta White, Grace Rampert and Helen (Ellen) Boyer.

The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Monday at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony Road, Wallingford. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to the Asthma-American Lung Association of CT, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.

Stephen Popovich Jr.

WALLINGFORD -- Stephen "Gary" Popovich, Jr., 88, formerly of South Elm St., Wallingford, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Brook Hollow Health Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Albina Olavage Popovich.

Born in Shamokin, Pa., March 2, 1914, a son of the late Stephen Popovich Sr. and the late Teresa Osse Popovich, he was a Wallingford resident for many years. He had been employed by the International Silver Co. in Wallingford for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection.

Mr. Popovich is survived by his four sons and three daughters-in-law, Stephen G. Popovich of Cheshire, Paul J. and Valerie Popovich of Burlington, Dennis J. and Helen Popovich of Huber Heights, Ohio and Joseph J. and Dorothee Fox Popovich of West Haven; his grandchildren, Lisa, Benjamin, Douglas, Michelle and Jacqueline; his sister, Helen Popovich of Wallingford; his sister-in-law, Rita (Mrs. John) Popovich of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Popovich; and his four brothers, George Popovich, John Popovich, Joseph Popovich and Paul Popovich; and his daughter-in-law, Susan (Mrs. Stephen G.) Popovich.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery.

Ney Rodriguez

MERIDEN -- Ney Rodriguez, 78, of Willow St., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the Meriden Center.

Mr. Rodriguez was born May 15, 1924 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Francisco and Ramona (Torres) Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was formerly employed by the Meriden Kuhn Training Center.

Besides his longtime companion, Joanne Notar of Wallingford; he is survived by four daughters, Gina Notar of Wallingford, Neida Rodriguez of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Myriam Vasquez of Fort Meyer, Fla., and Nereida Rodriguez of Cape Coral, Fla.; two brothers, Efrain Rodriguez of Jacksonville, Fla., Alfredo Rodriguez of Philadelphia, Pa.; also by four granddaughters, Saisimon, Mariel, Gabriela and Camila Rosario, all of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Manuel Rodriguez; three brothers, Angel, Ruben and Radames Rodriguez; and a sister, Lydia Torres.

Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden is entrusted with arrangements.

Theresa C. Scarpati

WALLINGFORD -- Theresa C. Scarpati, 73, of Meadow St., Wallingford, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., April 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Lucia Granata Caruso, she had been a Meriden resident for 20 years before moving to Wallingford 25 years ago. She had been employed by the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co. in North Haven for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Scarpati is survived by her daughter, Theresa A. Russo of Wallingford, with whom she resided; her son, Salvatore J. Scarpati of Meriden; her grandchildren, Joseph Marotta, Michael Marotta, Gina Marotta, Vincent Scarpati, Kevin Scarpati and Salvatore Scarpati Jr.; her sisters, Filomena Carpenito, Anna Yazzo, Vincenza Caruso and Antoinette Caruso, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her brother, Anthony Caruso of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Thomas Caruso and John Caruso.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. They will receive relatives and friends in the Joseph G. Duffy Funeral Home, 255 9th St., Brooklyn, N.Y., Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. on St. John the Evangelist Church, 21st St., Brooklyn, NY. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Long Island.

Louis C. D'Aquila

DARIEN -- Louis C. D'Aquila, a longtime Darien resident, passed away on Oct. 18, 2002, after a long illness at Stamford Hospital, Stamford. Mr. D'Aquila was born in Stamford, on July 16, 1924. He was the son of the late Frank D'Aquila and the late Mary Fusco D'Aquila.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Arline D'Apice D'Aquila, formerly of Meriden. He is also survived by his four children, Robert D'Aquila of Stamford, Mary Ellen D'Aquila Lehmann of Fairfield, Daniel D'Aquila of Blue Bell, Pa.; and John D'Aquila of York, Maine. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was previously deceased by a brother, Mathew D'Aquila; and a sister, Patricia D'Aquila D'Ademo.

Mr. D'Aquila graduated from Stamford High School and J.M. Wright Technical School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from Dec. 1942 through July 1947 as an Electrician's Mate First Class. He served in the European Theater and participated in the Normandy Invasion. Mr. D'Aquila was employed by Sorenson/Raytheon Companies and was a Senior Purchaser for General Data Com until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid gardener, bowler and traveler. He was a member of St. John R.C. Church in Darien where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the American Legion in Norwalk, the Senior Men's Club in Darien and a member of AARP Darien/New Canaan 972.

Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, on Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820, or the Trinity Catholic High School Chapel, Renovation Fund, 926 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905.

Agnes Davis

WALLINGFORD -- Agnes "Teri" Killeen Davis, formerly of Southview Drive, Wallingford, wife of the late Russell R. Davis, died at the Coccomo Healthcare Center in Meriden on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002.

She was born in Meriden, daughter of the late Michael C. and Jane Carey Killeen, and was a graduate of the Meriden High School. She was a secretary for many years with Holroyd's Furniture Company and was loved by the Holroyd family. She was a parishioner of The Church of the Resurrection, and was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Care Committee of the parish.

She is survived by her dear sister, Jane K. (Mrs. Joseph) Gilson of Meriden; her beloved nieces and nephews, Sharon G. and John Mahon and Kris A. Gilson, all of Meriden, Kaaren Zabriskie of Las Vegas, Nev. and James and Mary Cosgrove Gilson of Madison. She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley C. Killeen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 1 p.m. at The Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to The Church of the Resurrection Organ Fund, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Faye H. DuBois

BETHEL, Vt. -- Faye H. DuBois, 57, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

She was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Wallingford, the daughter of Raymond and Catherine (Gaffney) Hayden. She was educated at Holy Trinity School in Wallingford and graduated from Lyman High School in Wallingford. She married Charles DuBois, Oct. 14, 1967, in Wallingford. She worked as a paraprofessional in Special Education at the Platt School in Meriden. After coming to Bethel in 1995 she had been a paraprofessional in the Bethel, Vt. schools. She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Meriden (where she started a religious program for special needs children) and the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bethel. She enjoyed wood crafts, decorative, painting, working with slate, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" DuBois of Bethel; a son, Raymond DuBois of Johnson, Vt.; a daughter, Amy McFarland of Alexandria, Va.; three brothers, Richard Hayden of Columbia, Md., Thomas Hayden and Terrence Hayden, both of Wallingford; a sister, Ann Tilley of Bristol; a grandson, Kyle DuBois of Johnson, Vt.; and a cousin, Betty Lasher.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 20th at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, Vt. Memorial Mass will be on Friday, Oct. 25th at 10 a.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Meriden. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bethel Food Shelf, P.O. Box 353, Bethel, VT 05032.
