Ruth V. Cyphers
MERIDEN -- Ruth Violet Cyphers, 99, of 320 Colony St., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 at the Bradley Home. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Cyphers Sr.
Born in Meriden on Aug. 7, 1903, she was the daughter of the later Peter and Emma Swanson Anderson. She was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Walter Ligas of Killingworth; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold L. and Fernande Cyphers Jr. of Prospect; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helma Lisee and Esther Davis; and three brothers, Algot Anderson, Clarence Anderson and Harold Anderson.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Anne Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Barbara Marshall
WALLINGFORD -- Barbara Hoyler Marshall, 64, of 74 Simpson Ave., died suddenly Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at her home. She was the wife of the late Russell Marshall.
She was born in Meriden, July 28, 1938, a daughter of the late William and Beatrice Decker Hoyler.
She is survived by a cousin and her husband, Jean and MacLean Hubbard of Wallingford.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at the In Memoriam Cemetery, Maplewood Ave., Wallingford. There are no calling hours. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn., 38101. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford is in charge of arrangements.
Eileen Pesenti
BERLIN -- Eileen (Chadwick) Pesenti, 80, of Berlin, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002. She was the widow of Francis J. Pesenti.
Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Delia Chadwick. Eileen was a Berlin resident most of her life. She was a founder, past president and very active participant in the Central CT., ARC. She was also a member of St. Paul's Church.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Pesenti of New Britain; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claire and Peter Swanson of Meriden, Carol and Matthew Courtney of Kensington and Barbara and James Blanchette of Berlin; two sisters, Eleanor Jones of Newington and Agnes Thompson of Rocky Hill; and four grandchildren, Amy and Adam Blanchette and Emily and Valerie Courtney.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central CT ARC, 1 Hartford Sq., New Britain, CT 06052.
Jean R. Wojick
MERIDEN -- Jean R. Wojick, 91, of Horton Ave., and the wife of the late John Wojick, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at the MidState Medical Center.
Born Oct. 20, 1910 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Kocharczyk Katuzny. She attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Mrs. Wojick was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She leaves two sons, John Wojick of Bristol and Eugene Wojick of Meriden; a daughter, Lois Hebert of Windsor Locks; a brother, John Katuzney of California; a sister, Jane Scannell of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Christopher Wojick, Kathleen Armstrong, Kristen Wojick, Gary Hebert, Kenneth Hebert, Keith Hebert and Monique Garcia; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley Katuzny and Theodore Katuzny; and a sister, Rose Katuzny.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Marion Anderson
SOUTHINGTON -- Marion "Skip" Dodge Anderson, 95, wife of the late George F. Anderson, passed peacefully into eternity on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002.
She was born Jan. 5, 1907, in Millbury, Mass., to the late Charles and Helen (Marold) Dodge. She attended High School and nursing school in Pawtucket R.I., and graduating as an R.N. in 1928. After moving to Marion section of Southington in 1932, Mrs. Anderson worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital, volunteered for the Red Cross for 25 years, and was the secretary and treasurer for Wonx Spring Cemetery
for 25 years. She was a communicant of Plantsville Congregational Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bradford and Peter Anderson; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Dodge.
A private graveside service was held on Sept. 12, at the Wonx Spring Cemetery. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, had charge of arrangements.
Dorothy L. Gilmartin
MERIDEN -- Dorothy Lynehan Gilmartin, wife of 61 years of John "Jack" A. Gilmartin, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 after a long illness.
Born on Nov. 16, 1919, the daughter of the late Romanus Nash Lynehan Flanagan, Walter Lynehan and step-father, Patrick Flanagan, she was a lifelong resident of Meriden and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Gilmartin worked as the executive secretary of the Central Connecticut Board of Realtors until her retirement.
Besides her devoted husband, Jack, she is survived by daughters, Gail G. Godbout and husband Thomas of Cheshire and Sharon G. Kofsuske and husband, Peter of Durham; eight grandchildren, Stacey Wright Roberts, Wendy Wright Richards, Richard L. Wright III, J. Michael Wright, Elizabeth Kofsuske Norwell, Kyle Kofsuske, Thomas Godbout and Joseph Godbout; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral and burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's School, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Mary Pasquale
SOUTHINGTON -- Mary Pasquale, 80, of 99 Beecher St., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at home. She was the beloved wife for 61 years, of Peter J. Pasquale Sr.
Born in New Britain on Jan. 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Stefano and Antoinette (DeMichele) Topputo. Prior to her retirement 18 years ago, she was employed at Allied Control Co. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children, a son Peter J. Pasquale Jr. and his wife, Linda of Southington; two daughters, Lucille Doubleday and her friend, Richard Lamebert of Bristol and Donna Dubey and her husband, Richard of Southington; five grandchildren, Maurice Pichette, Richard A. Dubey Jr., Joseph P. Dubey and his wife, Shannon, Deana Dubey and Sheri Pasquale; a great grandson, Gabriel Dubey; and a great-granddaughter, Shannon Pichette. She was predeceased by two sisters, Angelina and Isabel.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Roland J. St. Pierre
WALLINGFORD -- Roland J. St. Pierre, 72, of 20 Grieb Road, Wallingford, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his devoted family, following his eight-month-long courageous battle with cancer. Roland was the beloved husband of Claire LeGendre St. Pierre for 51 years.
Born in Shawsheen, Mass., on March 26, 1930, son of Napoleon and Lydia Marchand St. Pierre, he and Claire and their six children lived in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, prior to moving to Connecticut in 1972. Roland was an alumnus of Central Catholic High School and Merrimack College in Mass. Following his graduation from the U.S. Army School of Finance in St. Louis, Mo., he was assigned to service in the Philippines in World War II. A lifelong career in banking in Massachusetts and New Hampshire continued in Connecticut in 1972 with his employment by the Banking Center in Waterbury and later with the Sirianni Mortgage Co., from which he retired in 1994. Roland was a former private pilot and also a former member of the Cheshire Rotary; the Farms C.C. Golf Committee, and the Building and Maintenance Committee of his beloved parish, Most Holy Trinity Church.
Besides his wife, Claire, Roland is survived by his cherished daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Michael J. Fox of Derry, N.H.; his five sons, Bruce of Middletown, Gary and his wife, Nancy of Bristol, Mark and his wife, Fran of Cheshire, Michael and his wife, Sue of Cheshire and Christopher and his fiancee, Nance of Waterbury. Grandpa Roland will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Joseph and his wife, Michelle; his great-grandson, Patrick Roland; and granddaughters, Christine, Erica, Michele, Erin and Jenny; and by his grandsons, Erik, Scott, Ricky and Jon; and great-grandson, Cameron. Roland had no siblings, but he dearly loved his sister-in-law, Anne Marie and her husband, Guy; and also his brothers-in-law, Bob and his wife, Shirley and Vinny and his wife, Jane. Roland's nieces and nephews were very dear to his heart, as were his cousins, the DeMarcos.
The family wishes to thank Father Charlie, Bob Jacunski, and all the Franciscan Hospice Care Angels, most especially Carol Davis and Theda Killen, for their loving and compassionate care.
Calling hours at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday . Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home. The cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the In Memoriam Cemetery

Betty M. Curtis
SOUTHINGTON -- Mrs. Betty M. (Dunn) Curtis, 81, of 6 Carter Lane, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Southington Care Center in Southington. She was the wife of the late Raymond G. Curtis Sr.
Mrs. Curtis was born Sept. 28, 1920 in Wallingford, a daughter of the late Howard J. and Frances (Hess) Dunn and lived in Plantsville for the past 14 years. She was a graduate of Lyman Hall in Wallingford. Prior to her retirement in 1988 she was employed as a secretary at David Transportation. She was communicant of St. Bridget's Church in Cheshire.
She leaves five sons, Thomas A. and Michael of Southington, Raymond of Ripon, England, Gerald W. of Newtown and Peter J. of Killingworth; a daughter, Patricia E. Mueller of Southington; two sisters, Frances Whitney of Wallingford and Ruth Williams of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service Friday at 7 p.m. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be at the convenience of her family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to7 p.m.
