Barbara A. Cirillo
MERIDEN -- Barbara A. Cirillo, 89, formerly of 5505 Yale Ave., wife of the late James Cirillo died on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 at the Curtis Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Meriden on Aug. 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Buttner) Haffner, she had resided in Meriden all her life and attended Meriden schools. Mrs. Cirillo was employed by King's Department Store for many years, retiring in 1978. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary Church.
She is survived by one son, Joseph and Marilyn Cirillo of Palm Coast, Fla.; three children, Michelle Copeland of Meriden, Michael Cirillo of Palm Coast, Fla., and Barbara Cirillo of Meriden; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Lyons; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Francis Hall; and one brother, Joseph Haffner.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association Inc., 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518. The family would like to invite everyone to join them at the home of Michelle Copeland, 192 Round Hill Road, Meriden, following the committal service at the Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
George H. Endee
WINDSOR -- George H. Endee, 92, of the Poquonock section of Windsor, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at his home.
Born in Poquonock, son of the late Charles H. and Louise (Barauskas) Endee, he was a lifelong resident, attending local schools and graduating from Bay Path College. He was employed by the former Hartford National Bank over 35 years retiring in 1966. George had been a private pilot and shared ownership of a plane with the late Howard Pelton. An active outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and especially fishing and was an avid fan of both UConn Woman's Basketball and the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves his brother, Albert C. and his wife, Frances Endee of Meriden; a sister, Louise E. Gamble of Washington , D.C.; and among several nieces and nephews, a niece Dorothy Brooks of Windsor Locks and a nephew, Leon M. Alford of Windsor. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marguerite E. Brooks, Clara E. Clark and Anne E. Alford; and a brother, Dr. Charles H. Endee II.
Family and friends may gather Monday, Sept. 16, at 8:15 a.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Poquonock. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Poquonock. His family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Pauline E. Esposito
TAMPA, Fla. -- Pauline E. Esposito, wife of Dr. Michael J. Esposito, died on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
She was born in Framingham, Mass., on Sept. 26, 1926 and resided in Meriden, for most of her adult life. She relocated to Lakewood Ranch, Fla., three years ago. She received an RN degree in 1948 from the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Boston where she worked before moving to Flushing, N.Y. There she cared for patients stricken by the polio outbreak of 1949. She later worked at Cushing Veterans Hospital in Framingham, Mass. She became deeply involved with the Child Guidance Clinic, the League of Women Voters and the Junior Women's Club shortly after her arrival in Meriden in 1955. She was a generous supporter of the Meriden Public Library and St. Mary's Church and School. She loved gardening and was well-known for her superb cooking skills. She was an early morning jogger seen frequently trekking over Diamond Hill and around Hanover Pond. She enjoyed theater, music, and the arts and was an avid museum-goer. She loved to travel, especially to Italy, where she studied Italian and the arts. Pauline dedicated much of her life to her family of six children and her husband of 53 years. She was a devoted friend to many, ever-concerned for others despite her own prolonged illness.
In addition to her spouse, she is survived by a sister, Mary Chiavarini, of Washington , D.C.; and four children and their families, Michael Esposito Jr. of Austin, Texas and his son, Richard; Dr. Peter Esposito of Amherst, Mass., his wife, Maureen and their sons, Daniel and Robert; Paul Esposito of Hilton Head, S.C. ,and his wife, Susan; Dina Esposito of Arlington, Va., her husband Robert, and their three children, Christina, Mariah and Robert. She is predeceased by two sons, Thomas and Christopher.
Funeral arrangements are by Palms Funeral Home, Sarasota, Fla. No visitation is planned. A service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fla., on Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. followed by burial at The Palms Memorial Park of Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service will be held in October at St. Mary's Church, Grove Street, Meriden at a date to be announced.
Karl F. Haller
CHESHIRE -- Karl E. Haller, 92, of 165 Country Club Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at his home. He was the husband of Marjorie (Hine) Haller.
Mr. Haller was born June 5, 1910 in Cheshire, son of the late Matthias and Fredricka (Burk) Haller, and was a lifelong Cheshire resident. He graduated from Humiston School and attended Wilby High School in Waterbury. He was a 1928 graduate of the Perry Business School in Waterbury. Mr. Haller was the co-owner of R.W. Hine Hardware in Cheshire. After his retirement in 1975, he continued to work part time at the store. He was an air raid warden in Cheshire during World War II. He was a former member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department and a former board member of the Cheshire Hillside Cemetery
Association.
Besides his wife of Cheshire, he leaves two daughters, Karen Conrad and her husband, Richard and Linda Ludecke and her husband Mark, all of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Kristen Conrad Drapeau and her husband, Kevin of Holyoke, Mass., and Erin Ludecke and Christopher Ludecke, both of Cheshire; one great-grandson, Michael Drapeau of Holyoke, Mass.; a niece, Leandra Martin Brown of Ft. Myers, Fla. He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Burns; and a granddaughter, Karla Conrad.
A graveside servcice will be held Saturday Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery
in Cheshire. George Harris
NEW HAVEN -- George Harris, 55, of Greenwich Ave., New Haven, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002. He was the husband of Deborah Harris.
He was employed by Cytec as a security guard. Mr. Harris was a U.S. Marine veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jayson Harris of New Haven; a daughter, Andrea Harris of New Haven; a step-daughter, Caprece Tavares of New Haven; brothers, Leroy P. Floyd and Herman Harris, all of Elgin S.C., and William R. Harris of Meriden; sisters, Eddie Mae Phipps and Jonnie Mae Wint, both of Meriden, Myrtle Anderson of New Haven, Ann Perkins of West Haven and Sandra Easterling of East Haven; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Larry Harris.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven in charge of arrangements.
Judith Waldron
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- Judith (Judi) Gamsby Waldron, 57, of 2731 Northeast 14th St., Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of North Haven, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at the Hospice By The Sea, Boca Raton, Fla. She was the wife of Robert Waldron Jr.
Born in New Haven on May 5, 1945, daughter of the late Kenneth and Virginia Linsley Gamsby. A resident of North Haven for many years until moving to Florida two years ago, she was a local North Haven Artist and a past member of the Wallingford Country Club.
She was the mother of Carol Shabbott of Madison, Robert Waldron of Tinley Park, Ill., and Donald Waldron of North Haven; sister of Linda Thass of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Kenneth (Skip) Gamsby of North Haven; and grandmother of Ashton Leigh Waldron.
Relatives and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Emil A. Altobello Sr.
MERIDEN -- Emil A. Altobello Sr. of 555 Preston Ave., husband of Mary Cherniak Altobello died peacefully at home, Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Meriden on Nov. 17, 1910, son of the late Antonio and Agnes Altobello, Mr. Altobello was a lifelong resident of Meriden, a city he loved. He was a diversified businessman throughout his life. As a young man he managed a private club in Meriden. He went on to become president and treasurer of Continental Metal Products and Ames Realty and Holding Company. Years later he purchased New State Package Store. He was well-known for his fine Italian cooking, his many inventions and his quick wit. Mr. Altobello was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a 71-year member of the Elks. He dearly loved his family, his city and his work.
Along with his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Altobello and Roy Jeffrey of Westerly, R.I., Toni and Gary Goode of Meriden; two sons and one daughter-in-law, State Representative Emil "Buddy" Altobello Jr., Joel and Nancy Altobello of Greenwich; four grandchildren, EJ and Michael Altobello and Adam and Meredith Goode; sister-in-law, Josephine "Sis" Altobello; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Altobello was predeceased by two brothers, John and Henry Altobello.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Norma Brunell
MERIDEN -- Norma (McVeigh) Brunell, 82, of Meriden, wife of the late Charles G. Brunell, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Meriden on July 12, 1920, the daughter of the late William and Esther (Fritz) McVeigh, she had resided in Meriden most of her life. Mrs. Brunell had attended local schools, was a 1938 graduate of Meriden High School and attended Laurel Business College. She loved reading and swimming, and was deeply devoted to her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Polly and Robert Pierpont of Meriden, Wendy Brunell and Peter Ostrowski of West Hills, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Brenda Brunell of Meriden; three grandchildren, Bridget Pierpont, Cindy Brunell Pryzbek and her husband, Rob Pryzbek and Kelly Brunell; and one great-grandchild, Spencer Pryzbek. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen DeAngelis of Meriden.
The funeral and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Sophie Kaloski
MERIDEN -- Sophie (Buganski) Kaloski, 88, of 690 Broad St., wife of the late Michael A. Kaloski, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bridgeport, on June 15, 1914, the daughter of the late Stanley and Constance Buganski, she had resides in Meriden for most of her life. Mrs. Kaloski was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Doris Pascucci, Eleanor Hodgkin, Florence Woronick and Susan Sznicer, all of Meriden; two sons, Edward Kaloski and Michael Kaloski, both of Meriden; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Berger of Meriden and Jennie Sefferino of New Haven; one brother, Edward Buganski of Meriden; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Baddeley of Meriden; and a son, John Kaloski of Meriden.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
