Robert P. Reckmack
CHESHIRE -- Robert Patton Reckmack, 85, of 688 Mountain Road, died Saturday morning at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven. He is the husband of Alice (Smolinski) Reckmack.
Mr. Reckmack was born in Cheshire on July 12, 1917, a son of the late John and Mary (Patton) Reckmack and was a lifelong resident. During his youth he was a manager and player for the Middlebury Green Jackets, a state amateur hockey league. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Armed Guard and was discharged as Gunner's Mate 2nd Class having served convoy duty during Russian and Mediterranean battles. Following the war, Mr. Reckmack was Vice President of the Cheshire VFW. He retired in 1979 as Power Plant Foreman at Pratt & Whitney in New Haven. He was also a communicant of St. Thomas Beckett Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Sheila Mesite of Cheshire, Sharon White of Westbrook and Susan Savelle of Cheshire; two sisters, Bernice Halliwell of Bloomington, Dela. and Therese Sataline of Cheshire; four grandchildren, Robert and Shaun Mesite, and Alyson and Lindsay Savelle, all of Cheshire. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Reckmack.
The funeral will leave on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. from The Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St. and proceed to St. Thomas Beckett Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Germaine J. Diolio
MERIDEN -- Germaine Jeanette Diolio, 83, of 33 Cone Ave., wife of the late Charles C. Diolio, died on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Coccomo Memorial after a brief illness.
Born in Biddeford, Maine, on May 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Medora (Bergeron) Brulotte. She had resided in Portland, Maine, moving to Meriden seven years ago.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Harold Scott of Meriden.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to MidState VNA & Hospice, 658 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450. Carmine Nargi
WALLINGFORD -- Carmine Nargi, beloved husband of Mary Geremia Nargi, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002. Funeral arrangements will be announced in a complete obituary notice in the Tuesday edition of the Meriden Record-Journal. John N. De Maria
MERIDEN -- John N. De Maria, 83, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at the Masonic Home in Wallingford.
Born in Meriden on Dec. 22, 1918, son of the late James and Concetta Terriciano De Maria, he was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He served his country in the Army with the 43rd Infantry Division during World War II in France and Germany, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He served again in Germany during the Korean Conflict with the CT National Guard. John was a sheet metal worker and a member of Local No. 40, the Sheet Metal Workers' Union of Hartford for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish, garden and walk in the woods in search of mushrooms and wildflowers and peace. He was an amateur boxer in the 30's in the Connecticut area and also an avid bowler. He was a very generous and loving man and the "Patriarch" of his family.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Erma B. De Maria, he is survived by his daughter, Donna D. Lewis. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert J. De Maria in 2001. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Diane D. Jorsey, Robert J. De Maria Jr., Jonathan A. Lewis, Jason C. Lewis and Jennica J. Lewis; four young great-granddaughters, Abby L. Jorsey, Ashton S. and Avery E. Lewis and Emma J. Plourde; sisters, Josephine D. Renshaw of Illinois and Eleanor D. McQueen of New Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Marilyn M. De Maria; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Grace D. Polvani and Rose D. Dadio; and his brother, Louis De Maria. We will cherish forever, with love, our special memories of a dear man.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to CT VNA, 33 North Plains Industrial Road, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the Meriden Public Library, 105 Miller St., Meriden, CT 06450. David M. Deno
MERIDEN -- David Michael Deno, 58, of Meriden died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002.
Mr. Deno was born in Meriden, June 27, 1944, he was the son of William and Myrtle Deno. He worked for the International Silver Co., for 13 years, Mitchell Ford for approximately 10 years, and for M&E Ford and Dowling Ford. He was a member of the National Guard for many years.
He is survived by brothers, Herbert and Dennis, both of California, Charles of Meriden, William Woodward of Southington and George Brooks of Wallingford; sisters, Alice Benziger and husband, Fred of Maine and Ellen Martin of Meriden; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at Calvary Baptist Church, Bee St., Meriden on Monday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. for family and friends.
Dorothy Kolodecik
HAMDEN -- Dorothy Bialobrzeski Kolodecik, 72, of 80 Ralston Ave., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 in St. Raphael Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Kolodecik.
She was the daughter of Veronica Bialobrzeski of New Haven and the late Stanley Bialobrzeski. She was employed by the CT. Carpenters Fund as a claims auditor for many years before her retirement.
She was the mother of Valerie Kolodecik of West Haven and Thomas Kolodecik Jr. of Cheshire; and three grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers, William Bialobrzeski and Stanley Beski.
The funeral will take place from the Lupinski Funeral Home, 821 State St., New Haven, Thursday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Stanislaus Church, New Haven at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Pkwy, Meriden, CT 06450.
Albert N. Mason
MERIDEN -- Albert N. Mason, 74, of Meriden died on Thursday, Sept 5, 2002 at MidState Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Bertha A. (Paluconis) Mason.
Besides his wife, he was survived by his only son, Mark C. Mason of Meriden; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Mason) Derosier and Cassandra Mason of Southington; a grandson-in-law, Jayson A. Derosier; and a great-grandson, Cody J. Derosier; also Mr. Mason left behind many family friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be graveside at Sacred Heart Cemetery

Carmine P. Nargi
WALLINGFORD -- Carmine P. Nargi, 60, beloved husband of Mary E. Geremia-Nargi of 12 Martin Trail, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 after a long courageous battle with cancer. The disease that claimed his life never conquered his spirit. He was born in New Haven on Dec. 30, 1941. He was the son of the late Carmine and Anna Papa Nargi of East Haven.
Carmine was survived by a great family of Love. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jessica K. Nargi of Guilford, Marybeth Doehr of Wallingford, Michael and wife, Joy Nargi of Branford and Bryan J. Doehr of Wallingford; he was also survived by his brothers and sisters. Sisters and husband, Mary Ann and Alex Ruggierio of East Haven, Patricia and Anthony Delli Gatti of Williston Park, N.Y.; brothers and wives, Joseph R. and Angie Nargi of East Haven and Robert and Sue Nargi of Ansonia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Sal Geremia of Wallingford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lucianne and Tom Tartaglia of Cheshire; Donna and Russ Bandecchi of Wallingford, Cheryl and Paul Schatzman of Middlefield, Lisa and Carl Gendron of Cheshire, Bernadette and John Ceruzzi of Southport, Sal and MaryLou Geremia of Cheshire and Joey and Dawn Geremia of Wallingford; 22 nieces and nephews; and seven grandnieces and grandnephews.
Carmine served with the 9th Communication Battalion of the U.S. Marine Corps. In the Marines, as in life he was always faithful "Semper Fidelis." He was a dedicated employee of Enthone of West Haven for over 40 years. Carmine was a world-renowned technical expert and was best known and called upon worldwide for his expertise in nickel. Carmine was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He was an inspiration to his family and friends, a positive thinker who believed that life was an adventure and treated everyone with respect always recognizing their great qualities. He enjoyed exploring the world, collecting fine wines and was a loyal Yale football fan for over 40 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with his wife and family during calling hours at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carmine P. Nargi, may be made to the Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care at Hospital of St. Raphael, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.
George White
BROOKFIELD -- George White, 96, of Brookfield, died on Friday, Sept.6, 2002 at the New Milford Hospital, New Milford. He was the husband of the late Edna G. (Pitcher) White.
Mr. White was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Portland, Maine, a son of the late John and Mary (Yosentz) White. He moved to Danbury, as a young boy, and graduated from Danbury schools. Mr. White married his wife of 56 years, Edna Grace Pitcher in May 1942. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, honorably discharged in Aug. 1943. Mr. White was a highly skilled pouncer for the Mallory Hat Co., of Danbury for many years, and was also called upon to work for other hat companies in the Danbury area. He later worked in Brookfield at the Center School from 1962 until his retirement. Mr. White was a member of the IOOF Good Samaritan Lodge No. 7, serving as chaplain. An avid gardener, he was known for his sweet strawberries, selling them and other vegetables from his Brookfield home for many years.
Mr. White is survived by two sons, Lew White of Bridgewater and Lee White of New Milford; three daughters, Jill Fattig of Meriden, Holly Johnson of New Milford and Gay Varney of Green Valley, Ill.; one sister, Nellie White of Danbury; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Central Cemetery, Brookfield at 11 a.m. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to the New Milford Hospital, Department of Oncology, 21 Elm St., New Milford, CT 06776. The Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
Emil A. Altobello Sr.
MERIDEN -- Emil A. Altobello Sr. of 555 Preston Ave., husband of Mary Cherniak Altobello, died peacefully at home, Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 surrounded by family and friends. Arrangements, under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden will be announced in Thursday's edition of the Record-Journal.
Arthur Angelone
SOUTHINGTON -- Arthur Angelone, 94, of Summit St., Southington died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at Highland Health Care in Cheshire. He was the widower of Phyllis DelBuono Angelone.
Born Feb. 24, 1908 in Hartford, he was the son of the late James and Carie Laporte Angelone. He worked for many years in manufacturing at the former Southington Hardware, Peck Stowe and Hunt's Screw Machine. Arthur was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, James Angelone of Southington; five daughters, Marie Weiss of Southington, Florence Perkins and Marion Beverly Falconeri, both of Wallingford, Sandra Miglietta of Bristol and Linda Curran of Southington; one brother, David Angelone of Southington; two sisters, Philomena Strazzulla of Southington and Elizabeth Landrum of Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his great-grandson, Jonathon Biggs; and his granddaughter, Darlene Falconeri.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville. With a service at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
