Edward Joseph Ames
Clarks Summit, PA -- Edward Joseph Ames, 96, died Sunday after an illness in VNA Hospice Unit, Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was the husband of the late Helen Cebrelli Ames.
He was born March 23, 1906 in Meriden and was the son of the late John and Ellen (Dolan) Ames. He moved to Clarks Summit in 1945 from Meriden where he resided most of his life. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and Laurel Business College.
His first job after graduating from high school was H. Wales Lines Construction Company, which was based in Meriden. Later, after returning to Meriden, he became a commercial service supervisor for the plastics division of General Electric and was later transferred to Scranton.
He met his future wife Helen while participating in the Silver City Golf League in Meriden. He was a member of Our Lady of Snows Church, Clarks Summit, served as an Adult Acolyte and Usher, Secretary of its Men's Club., and a member of the Knights of Columbus Abington Council #6611.
Surviving are two sons, John "Jack" Ames of Baltimore, MD and Robert Ames of Vestal, NY; and 2 grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, John, 4 sisters, Mary Buckholz, Helen Dowling, Beatrice Doyle, Catherine Young.
The funeral will be Thursday with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Grace A. Frenke
WALLINGFORD -- Grace Ann Frenke, 83, of Wallingford, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born on Jan. 27, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey.
She was a homemaker and she was a member of Cheshire Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Skanderberg Van Gieri. She was the cherished wife of Herbert A. Frenke; loving mother of Kenneth B. Frenke and Wendy L. Jordan; faithful sister of "Buddy" Van Gieri and Adrienne Presnall; proud grandmother of Kenneth K. Frenke, Ann Olivia Frenke, Scott Beau Jordan and Brett B. Jordan; blessed great-grandmother of Faith Pauline Jordan.
Grace's gentleness and uplifting spirit will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family who will feel the loss until they are reunited in heaven.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Eastern Gate Funeral Home, in Pensacola, Florida. Eastern Gate Funeral Home was in charge.
Dorothy Martha Gollnick
MERIDEN -- Dorothy Martha Gollnick, 83, formerly of Carl St., after which she lived for nine years with her daughter prior to moving to the Miller Memorial Community, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at MidState Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Arthur Walter Gollnick.
Born in Meriden on August 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Hackbarth Beaudreau. She had worked at the former Kings Department Store and also as a caregiver for the elderly. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her daughter. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Screen of Meriden; two granddaughters, Kimberly Beauregard and her husband John of Meriden and Terri Zimmer of Wallingford; two great-grandchildren, Alexa Nicole Beauregard and Hunter Scott Beauregard, both of Meriden; a cousin, Muriel Salter of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Beaudreau and Carlton Beaudreau and a grandson, Scott Arthur Screen.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to going to church. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Gollnick's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 332 No. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105.
Lorrie Hogan Graveline
CUMBERLAND, RI -- Lorrie Hogan Graveline, 39, of 3 Mimosa Ct., died Thursday at home. She was the wife of Keith P. Graveline.
Born (1-17-63) in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of Dennis M. and Pauline L. (Turgeon) Hogan of Cumberland. She lived in Cumberland most of her life and had also lived in Southington, CT for 6 years.
She was the FUDGE manager for Seasonal Specialty Stores, Foxboro, MA for the past 4 years.
She was a member of the Cumberland School Volunteers and a former member of the North Center P.T.O., in Southington, CT.
Besides her husband and parents she leaves one son, Bryan H. Graveline and a daughter, Kayli H. Graveline both at home. Two brothers, Daniel P. Hogan of Providence and Glenn M. Hogan of North Providence. She was also the maternal granddaughter of Lucille (Malo) Turgeon of Cumberland and the late Aldor Turgeon. The paternal granddaughter of the late John and Mary (Tucker) Hogan. Eight nephews and nieces.

Felicia Guerrera
MERIDEN -- Felicia Guerrera, 73, of 62 Curtis Street, wife of Mario Guerrera, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at Yale-NH Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Pontelandolfo, Italy on November 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Miguel and Maria Mancini, she had resided in Meriden for the past 32 years. Mrs. Guerrera was employed by Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center for ten years, retiring in 1993. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Besides her husband, Mario, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Margarita and Robert Michaud of Torrington; a son and daughter-in-law: Juan Carlos and Bonnie Guerrera of Meriden; five grandchildren: Anthony and Jennie Guerrera, both of Meriden, Christina West and her husband, Kyle of Montclair, NJ; and Heather Michaud and Allison Michaud, both of Torrington; a sister: Victoria Mancini of Glastonbury; a brother and sister-in-law: Umberto and Maria Mancini of Belgium; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Antonio and Guido Mancini.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2002, at 9:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Raymond B. Kowalczyk
Palmerton, PA -- Raymond B. Kowalczyk, 71, of RR 2 Palmerton, PA died Tuesday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of the late Eleanor D. (Sidorovich) Kowalczyk.
Born in Wallingford, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Catherine (Mrowka) Kowalczyk.
He had been a self-employed insurance adjuster for 11 years, retiring in 1981 and previously he had worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Aetna Insurance.
He is survived by a son, Kim Kowalczyk, of Jackson, NJ; a daughter, Ellen Mooney of Allentown; two sisters, Patricia Popovich of Wallingford, CT and Linda Roth of Holland, MA; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday from St. Mary's Chapel at St. Vladimir's Cemetery, Jackson, NJ with interment to follow. A viewing will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209 Brodheadsville.

Anna LaRosa
Martone, R.C. Italy -- Anna LaRosa, 60, died July 28, 2002 in Italy. She was the wife of Luigi LaRosa.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Domenic and Loredana LaRosa of Meriden and a son, Carmelo LaRosa of Italy; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Antonio and Tilda LaRosa and Carmelo and Roseanne LaRosa and a sister-in-law, Elvira LaRosa, all of Meriden; two grandchildren, Alex and Francesca LaRosa of Meriden; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Charlotte (Plaumann) Nagel
MERIDEN -- Charlotte (Plaumann) Nagel, 92, of 320 Colony St., wife of the late Edwin L. Nagel, died Tuesday evening, September 3, 2002, at the Bradley Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Berlin, Germany on December 21, 1909, she had resided in Meriden most of her life. Mrs. Nagel was employed by S.N.E.T. for some 20 years.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Edwin and Constance Nagel of Meriden; three grandchildren: Edwin L. Nagel and his wife, Iris of North Wales, PA, Sharon McHale and her husband, James of Meriden, and David A. Nagel of Meriden; and two great-grandchildren: Ryan Foell and Katie Nagel.
The Funeral and Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden.
