Frances C. Rose
PETERBOROUGH, N.H. -- Frances C. Rose, 92, of Route 202, formerly of 10 Mansion Road, Wallingford died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Manadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH. She was the wife of the late Howard Rose.
She was born in Simsbury, Dec. 19, 1909, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Hannah Glynn Crafts. Until her retirement she was a clerk for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallingford, the D.A.R., A.A.R.P., Wallingford Grange, New Haven County Pomona Grange, CT State Grange and the National Grange.
She is survived by a son, Harold Rose of North Branford; a daughter, Nancy Redling of New Ipswich, N.H.; a sister, Mildred Paddock of Cromwell; three grandchildren, Cynthia Perkins, David Redling and Brenda Rose; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred A. Crafts, Warren Crafts, E. Stuart Crafts; and a sister, Pauline Woodgale.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wallingford, 114 North Main St., Wallingford. There are no calling hours. Muriel E. Basley
MERIDEN -- Muriel E. Davis Basley, 72, of 84 Coe Ave., Meriden, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, Wallingford. She was the wife of Raymond A. Basley Sr. for 52 years.
Born in Brookline, Maine, on Sept. 19, 1929, daughter of the late Lawson and Violet Whittier Davis. He had worked for A&P of East Hartford, Platt-LaBonia as a silk screener and later was a Technology Worker in North Haven. She was a member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church and its Afternoon Circle, the Lisbon Senior Citizens, the Pennanaquan Chapter No. 146 Eastern Star, Pembroke, Maine.
She was the mother of Raymond A. Basley Jr. of Meriden, Kenneth W. Basley of New Haven and Sharon A. of Wallingford; grandmother of Raymond A. Basley III, Jamie, Melissa and Ann; great-grandmother of Dylan and Daniel; also survived by various nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Davis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, 81 Clintonville Road, North Haven. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or the Lisbon United Methodist Church, 19 School St., Lisbon Falls, Maine 04252. Calvin O. Crouse Sr
AURORA, Colo. -- Calvin Owen Crouse Sr., AKA: Cal Cal Houn, born in Meriden on Sept. 11, 1931 has left this world on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 to go live with our lord. He was the son of George Owen Crouse and Laura Backman.
He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Ann Ennis Crouse of 49 years; and nine children, Laura Crouse and Dennis Smith of Meriden, Louise Crouse, Lynn Emerson, Charlotte (Richard) Starrett, Loretta (Kurt) Davis, Calvin (Sheila) Crouse and Michael (Kim) Crouse, all of Colorado, Lisa (Wilberto) Cordero of California and George (Lisa) Crouse of Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Calvin worked most of his life at International Silver. When Calvin was a young boy, he taught himself how to play the guitar. Later in his years he formed a hillbilly band called the Ozaek Mountaineers where he loved and enjoyed entertaining thousands all over. He loved hiking, fishing, stamp collecting and coin collecting. Calvin's main desire in he last five years of his life was preaching the word of God. Calvin always said, that he may not have a lot of money, but was richly blessed by his children.
Lena H. Dow
SOUTHINGTON -- Lena H. Dow, "Nana" 90, formerly of Forest Lane in Southington, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Southington Care Center. She was the widow of Fred Dow.
Born in Island Falls, Maine, Feb. 16, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Minnie Burpee Springer. Lena had been a local resident for 50 years. She had worked at Pratt and Whitney for many years retiring in 1974 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Southington for over 45 years. She was also a member of the Calendar House and the YMCA Seniors.
Lena is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Michael Chubet and Barbara and Edward Aszklar, all of Southington; and was a devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; also survived by her sister, Priscilla Brownlow of Maine. Lena was predeceased by her son, Richard York.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, at 8:30 a.m. from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville with a service at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Lena may be made to First Baptist Church, 581 Meriden Ave., Southington, CT 06489.
Louis J. Leveille
WALLINGFORD -- Louis J. Leveille, 96, formerly of Ward St., Wallingford, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at The Regency House of Wallingford.
Mr. Leveille was born in Wallingford, May 26, 1906, a son of the late Napoleon and Emiline DuBois Leveille, and was a lifelong resident here. He had been Superintendent of the Yalesville Post Office for many years until his retirement. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had served in the Medical Corps., and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Major Raoul Lufbery Post No. 591. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Auger and Annette Shanahan, and three brothers, Philip, Robert, and Charles Leveille.
Relatives and friends may attend a Mass of Christian burial Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity Church Preservation Project, 68 No. Colony St., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
Edward l. Sulinski
WALLINGFORD -- Edward L. Sulinski of Danny's Way, Wallingford, died Sunday, July 28, 2002. He was the son of the late Jan Sulinski and the late Kazimiera Zapolski Sulinski.
He was born in Maspeth, NY. He worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Co. in North Haven for many years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II.
He is survived by his wife Helen, Neceskas Sulinski; his son, Edward Marc Sulinski and his wife, Michelle Thagard Sulinski; his daughter, Alexis Sulinski and her husband, Matthew Capece.
He was member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 591, the American Legion Post No. 187, the Polish National Alliance Group No. 513, all of Wallingford, and the Polish Falcons No. 519 of Middletown. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was a member of the Men's Club.
Friends may call at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery

Mildred Vega
MERIDEN -- Mildred Vega, 40, of Center St., beloved wife of Jose A. Vega, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born march 8, 1962 in Yauco, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Israel and Rosa (Garcia) Velez. Mildred was a member of Iglesia Hermanos Unidos en Cristo of Meriden.
Besides her husband of 22 years and parents of Puerto Rico, she is survived by three sons, Gil "Frankie" Caraballo, Emmanuel Vega and Jason Vega, all of Meriden; one daughter, Catherine Vega of Meriden; four brothers, Eduardo and Israel Velez, both of New York and Alexander and Edgar Velez, both of Puerto Rico; three sisters, Isabel Vega, Wanda Ramos and Damaris Vazquez, all of New York.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. from Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal, 60 Liberty St., Meriden. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Donations may be made to the family in Mildred's memory.
Martha Anderson
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Martha (Flugrad) Anderson, 71, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in North East Baptist Hospital, San Antonio Texas . She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Barton E. Anderson; four children, Faith (Herbert) Mueller, Holly (Edward) Pytka, B. Peter (Laurie) Anderson and Lydia (William) Holbrook; eight grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, at 5 p.m. in the church where she used to be the organist, Zion Lutheran Church in Southington (Woodruff St.)

Mary J. Frank
MIDDLETOWN -- Mary Joan Frank, 72, of 161 Plaza Drive, wife of Robert F. Frank Sr. died on Monday, July 29, 2002 at Middlesex Hospital.
Born in Meriden on July 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Francis Rogoz Sr. and Mary Golanski Rogoz. Mrs. Frank had resided in Middletown the past 30 years and was parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Middletown.
Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by two sons, Robert F. Frank Jr. of Meriden and Michael Anthony Frank of Middletown; two grandchildren, Tina Marie Gunther and Dennis R. Frank; two great-granddaughters, Amber and Lee Anne Gunther; one sister, Renee DuBois of Glastonbury; one brother, Francis Rogoz Jr. of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at 8 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden with Rev. Edmund S. Nadolny officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
