Rose Groppelli

WALLINGFORD -- Rose Severini Groppelli, born on Feb. 23, 1914 in New London, daughter of Emily and Thomas Severini, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Mrs. Groppelli resided with her daughter, JoAnne Groppelli in Wallingford for seven years after the death of her husband, John Groppelli; Rose had another daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Peter Pollock of Fort Pierce, Fla.; also survived by four grandchildren, Peggy Lynch of Sebastian, Fla., Raymond and his wife, Eva Neal of Colchester, John and his wife, Tracy Neal of Lebannon and Michael Neal of Wallingford; six great-grandchildren, Daniel and Emily Lynch, Halley and Tommy Neal and Karina and Lauren Neal; Rose is also survived by brothers, Thomas Severini of Newton Center, Mass., Arthur Severini of Waterford; and her sister, Sister Anna Severini Robbins of East Lyme. She was predeceased by grandson, Tommy Neal in 1991; her brothers, Harry, Freddy and Alteo Severini; and her sister, Lena Giustini.

Rose resided most of her life in the New London area. She was employed as a salesperson at the former Style Shop in Groton for 25 years until her retirement in 1980.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Impelitieri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk St., New London on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Church, New London at 10 a.m.

Andrew J. Lonczak

MERIDEN -- Andrew J. Lonczak, 87, of Galoppi Road, Meriden, husband of Regina (Wawrzaszek) Lonczak, died peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Meriden Care & Rehab.

Andrew was born April 15, 1915 in Perth Amboy, N.J., a son of the late Martin and Sophie (Pajak) Lonczak. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, and also employed by Manning-Bowman. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, a member of the Holy Name Society and a collector during Mass for many years.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Regina, he is survived by a son, Kenneth and his wife, Ann Lonczak of Meriden; three cherished grandchildren, Gregory, Timothy and Stephen Lonczak, all of Meriden; a nephew, Martin Lonczak and his wife, Anita and a niece, Janice and her husband, John Grigo, all of New Jersey. He was predeceased by a brother, John S. Lonczak; and a sister, Veronica Lonczak.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church officiated by the Rev. Edmond Nadolny. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Norman Marziarz

SOUTHINGTON -- The funeral of Roman "Norman" Marziarz, 69, of 104 Little Fawn Road, Southington, husband of Vera (Chekoulias) Marziarz; son of John "Oscar" and Sophia Piskor of Gill, Mass.; father of Sandra Votto, Paul S. and his wife, Lauren Marziarz and William P. and his wife, Angela Marziarz, all of Southington; grandfather of Nicole Kate and Lindsay Ann Marziarz, will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Joseph's Church in Bristol at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bristol. Calling hours will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Catherine E. Overly

NORTH HAVEN -- Catherine E. Overly, 75, of North Haven, died Monday, July 8, 2002 at CT. Hospice, Branford.

Born in New Haven on Dec. 14, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Paleski Lipka Sr., she was a resident of East Haven later moving to North Haven for the past 30 years. She had worked for the former HID Co., until her retirement in 1999.

She was the mother of Janice Grann, Wayne Overly, Barbara Mead and James Overly Jr.; sister of Robert and Joseph Lipka Jr., Frances Navarretta and the late Arthur Lipka; she is also survived by four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Cabrini Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden 06450 or CT. Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford 06405.

Arvida Disereits

MERIDEN -- Arvida Disereits, 80, of 124 S. Colony St., passed peacefully, Friday, July 5, 2002, at MidState Medical Center.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, Saturday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m.

Marion F. Dunn

NORTH HAVEN -- Marion Francis Dunn, 75, beloved wife of Joseph R. Dunn Jr. of Green Hill Road, North Haven, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at her residence.

Born in Wallingford, Oct. 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Clayton and Mabelle C. Fuller Francis, she had been a Wallingford resident many years, until moving to North Haven 47 years ago. She was a member of the North Haven Congregational Church and had been employed by the Graham Travel Company of New Haven for several years.

Besides her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Tony Solecki of North Haven and Pamela and George Hotton of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rita Dunn of North Haven; her seven grandchildren, Brian Solecki, Steven Solecki, Nicholas Carrano, Melissa Berlepsch, Amy Berlepsch, Erica Berlepsch and Carrie Berlepsch; her great-grandson, Matthew Solecki; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George Francis and Robert K. Francis.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext. Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the North Haven Congregational Church. Interment will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the MidState Medical Center Cancer Care Oncology, 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, CT 06451, or to the Memorial Fund of the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church St., North Haven, CT 06473.

A. Scott Oblon

BRISTOL -- A. Scott Oblon, 44, of Bristol, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at his home.

Born in Meriden on Nov. 23, 1957, the son of J. Dick and Ann Kelly Oblon of Meriden, he had resided in Bristol for the past eight years. He had attended St. Stanislaus, Jefferson Jr. High and graduated from Maloney High School and Wilcox Technical. He also attended IMTI Technical School in Waterbury. Mr. Oblon was self employed as a welder with several local companies.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one son, Jason S. Oblon of Meriden; his beloved companion, Deborah McMahon of Bristol; two sisters, Barbara Oblon Lubusko of Middletown and Cynthia Cox of Lexington, Ky.; a nephew, James Woronick and a niece, Ashley Cox, both of Lexington, Ky.; his uncle, Francis P. Kelly of Meriden; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Susan M. Wnek of Meriden.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Legion Post No. 45 Attn: St. Jude Children's Hospital Fund, 835 Hanover St., South Meriden, CT 06451. No. 1 Dad will always be loved and remembered by your No. 1 son. No. 1 Bro -- You were my inspiration. My heart is empty -- No. 1 Sis.

Alfred D. Pelletier

SOUTHINGTON -- Alfred D. Pelletier, 53, of 70 Barbara Lane, Plantsville section died Wednesday, July 10, 2002. He was the husband of Rosemary (Calabro) Pelletier.

He was born in Eagle Lake, Maine on. Nov. 7, 1948, a son of Exelia (Saucier) Pelletier and the late Raoul (Ralph) Pelletier. Mr. Pelletier was employed by Tenneco Automotive Corp. as a regional sales manager. He was a Naval veteran during the Vietnam War. He attended St. Dominic Church.

Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Pelletier leaves a son, Adam and wife, Alicia of W. Hartford; a daughter, Sydney Pelletier of Plainville; a step-daughter, Erin R. Leggett of Boston; and step-son, Jamie E. Leggett of Southington; a brother, Robert and wife, Mora Pelletier of Gorham, Maine; two sisters and husbands, Elizabeth (Betty) and Brian Brennan of Middlebury and Susan and Paul Cianci of Bristol; and granddaughter, McKenzie Pelletier; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by twin brothers, Raoul and Raymond Pelletier.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church at 11 a.m. for a Mass. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Southington High School Athletic Dept, 720 Pleasant St., Southington, CT 06489.

Edmond A. Sioch

SUMMERFIELD, Fla. -- Edmond A. Sioch, 80, loving husband of Antoinette M. Sioch, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Summerfield Hospice Suites.

Born in Meriden, Mr. Sioch resided in Marion prior to his retirement as a carpenter for Local Union No. 24. He later moved with his wife to Colchester, before moving to Summerfield, Fla. Mr. Sioch was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Besides his wife of almost 60 years, he is survived by five sons, Edmond B. Sioch of Bullhead City, Ariz., John A. Sioch of Durham, Paul J. Sioch of Plainville, Thomas M. Sioch and Michael E. Sioch, both of Southington; three daughters, Frances A. Johnson of Summerfield, Fla., Anne M. Sioch of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and Mary C. Porter of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Benjamin P. Sioch of Hollywood, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild.

Roberts Funeral Home of Ocala, Fla., was in charge of arrangements. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at St. Aloysius Church, Plantsville.

Elizabeth Black

MERIDEN -- Elizabeth Flynn Black, 83, wife of Edward Black, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 after lengthy illness.

Born in Meriden on Jan. 20, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Murdock Flynn, she had resided in Meriden most of her life. She had graduated from St. Rose Parochial School and Meriden High School, class of 1937. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from St. Joseph College in West Hartford and a Master's degree from S.C.S.U. Mrs. Black was employed by the City of Meriden as a school teacher for over 30 years. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.

She is survived by a niece, Janet Wagner; and two cousins, Thomas Keating Murdock and Dorothy Coleman Remy, all of Meriden. She was predeceased by a sister, Janet Flynn Wagner.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
