Martha (Whitman) Marocchini
Andrew Marocchini, Sr., 77, of Hebron Road, Marlborough, proud Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and well-known area plumber for many years, passed away peacefully Sunday (March 30, 2008). His beloved wife of over 50 years, Martha (Whitman) Marocchini, 76, would rejoin him shortly after when she passed away on Tuesday (April 1, 2008) surrounded by her loving family.
They are survived by five grandchildren, Andrew III, Mae, Amy, David and Taren; two great grandchildren, Chloe and Tatum; and numerous extended family members and friends. They were predeceased by their son, Andrew, Jr.
Graveside Services with full military honors will be observed 12 pm Saturday (April 12th) at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Harrington Court in Colchester for their genuine care and concern extended during Andy and Martha’s convalescence.

Anna Mae Meyer, 59, of Andover Lake, passed away Tuesday (April 1, 2008). Born April 12, 1948 in Great Barrington MA, she was a daughter of late William Henry and Regina Rose (Zilka) Meyer. She leaves her sisters, Cathi and Cynthia Meyer; brother-in-law, Carl Carlman and many beloved friends as well as her dear cat, Boo-Kitty.
Anna had a degree in Psychology and had worked for many years in the field of social services. Most recently, she had obtained her realtor’s license. She enjoyed her home on Andover Lake, her family and many lifelong friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of her life will be held 2 PM Saturday (April 5th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Friends may gather starting at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to My Sisters’ Place, 102 Pliny St., Hartford 06120.
Dorice Evelyn Hodgins, “Gigi”, 72, of Bozrah, passed away peacefully Wednesday (March 19, 2008) at the Harrington Court GHC Center in Colchester.
Born Jan. 3, 1936 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Dorothea (Flemke) Belser.
Dorice was a Supervisor for the Connecticut Dept. of Social Services for 25 years before her retirement in 1999. She was a member & former Steward of AFSCME Local 538.
In her spare time, she loved to crochet and to spend time with her dog, Taisha.
Most importantly, she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed and remembered as an angel to her family now.
She is survived by four children, Douglas and wife, Betsy Ziegler of Middletown, Lori Emmons of Norwich, Sherri and husband, Tony Pacheco of Wethersfield and Kenneth Ziegler and his companion, Tammy Tebo of Bozrah; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Belser.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday (March 25th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, followed by a 7 PM Chapel Service. Interment will be private in the Belser family plot in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.

Wendi Marie Fellows, 35, of Colchester, passed away Monday (March 17, 2008) at the Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1972 in Willimantic, she was a daughter of Gary Fellows and Sandra (Nichols) Desroche, both of Colchester.
Wendi was a Registered Nurse in the area for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, walking and camping, but found her greatest joy in her children.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her three beloved children; Vicki, Kelly and Vanessa; her grandson, Reese; her sister, Stacey Fellows of Colchester; her nephews, Ethan and Jackson; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Friends may call 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.
The funeral will gather starting at 10 AM Friday at the funeral home before a Chapel Service at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Charles F. Brown, officiating. Interment will follow in the New St. Andrew Cemetery, Colchester.

Joseph N. Sipolski, 75, of Waterman Road, beloved husband of Patricia and father of Diane Tye and Joseph Sipolski, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday (March 14, 2008).
Graveside services with full military honors will be observed 10:30 AM Wednesday at the New Lebanon Cemetery, Waterman Road, Lebanon.

Michael Dilaj, 61, of Mansfield Center, beloved husband of Irene and devoted father of Daria and Derek, passed away Tuesday (March 11, 2008) surrounded by his loving family at Hartford Hospital. Born Nov. 20, 1946 in Mannheim, Germany, he was the son of Peter and Sophie Dilaj. In 1952, he immigrated to the United States with his family to Auburn, NY. On April 18, 1970, he wed Irene Choma of Colchester at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Michael was a Licensed Surveyor and Professional Engineer in Connecticut. After serving his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, he studied civil engineering at UCONN to earn both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. He began his career with John Lenard at Lenard Engineering in Storrs and went on to form his own company, Datum Engineering & Surveying, with partner Ed Pelletier. Michael enjoyed helping others by applying his professional skills and knowledge to assist small business owners and private landowners to realize their dreams and aspirations. Michael’s professional accomplishments are only overshadowed by his devotion to his family and friends with whom he shared his passion for living.
Michael had an incredible zest for life. From exploring the United States with his family in their motor home to holiday celebrations with friends, he made the most out of every moment. Michael’s spirit uplifted those around him. His numerous life-long friends will miss his outgoing and warmhearted personality. His memory will be a blessing to his family, especially his children and grandchildren, as well as his friends, to whom he was ever devoted. He was a very active person and enjoyed skiing, golfing, playing tennis, sailing with friends, and traveling to Europe with his wife. His yard was a labor of love and after a hard days work on the weekend would relax with a ride in his sports car or an occasional card night with his close friends.
In addition to his loving wife Irene of 37 years, he is survived by two children, Daria Lara Till and Derek Michael Dilaj; Daria’s husband, Christopher Till; two grandchildren, Gavin and Damian Till; and Derek’s fiancé, Kristin Vasil, all of Mansfield; Michael’s brother and sister-in-law, Jaroslaw and Janet Dilaj of Syracuse, NY; his niece and nephew, Gabriel Dilaj and Tanya Stupar; and longtime friends.
Friends may call 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Panahyda Service will be observed at 7 PM. Private burial with full military honors will be in the New St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Colchester. Albert E. Verrill, 86, widower of the late Jane (Cummings) Verrill, of Colchester, passed away Tuesday (March 4, 2008) surrounded by his loving family at the Harrington Court GHC Center in Colchester after a short convalescence.
Born June 24, 1921 in Auburn, ME, he was a son of the late Beede and Clara (Anderson) Verrill.
On June 28, 1942, he and Jane were married in Eastport, ME. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage before she predeceased him on Nov. 21, 2004.
A proud veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Adler-Boluck Post 6990 VFW in Colchester.
Mr. Verrill was an aircraft mechanic for Pan-Am of NY and later at Pratt & Whitney as a supervisor for 30 years before his retirement.
Al was an avid restorer of antique one-lung engines, participating in many shows and exhibitions. He also loved to hunt and fish and was a tireless fan of UCONN Girls Basketball and the Boston Red Sox. Mr. Verrill was a longtime member of the Westchester Congregational Church and the Wooster Lodge of Masons No. 10 A.F. & A.M. of Colchester.
Of all his attributes, he will be remembered most by his family as a loving, kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include a son, Richard and his wife, Lynda Verrill of Colchester; a daughter, Teri Davis and her partner, Vincent Savalle of Colchester; six grandchildren, Kevin and Kenny Verrill, Kelly Verrill Martinez, Nicole, Christopher and Jessica Davis; six great-grandchildren, Richard and Doree Martinez, Kylee, Tanner, Hunter and Kory Verrill; three sisters, Anna Patchell of Enfield, Glenna LeConte of Quaker Hill and Betty Griffin of Danielson; a special friend, Joseph Boylan of Shrewsbury, MA, as well as his other hunting buddies; and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he was predeceased by his twin brother, Alfred.

Committal with full military honors will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Colchester. Nathan Charles Harrison, 24, of Lynn Street, Colchester, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 1, 2008).
Born December 22, 1983 in Manchester, he was the beloved son of Matthew and Katherine (Gleason) Harrison of Colchester.
Nathan was a 2002 graduate of Bacon Academy and went on to study Computer Science at Three Rivers Community College. He was a Computer Technician for TRUMPF, Inc. and had also worked for both Noel’s and Mackey’s in Colchester.
Nate was a gifted intellectual with many talents and interests. Although he excelled with and formally studied Computer Science, he held a true love and deep appreciation of music and literature - he was rarely found without a book or his acoustic or electric guitar. Nate was an avid Bible reader, and had planned to return to school and study theology and literature, which he had been studying privately for several years.
Most importantly, he will be remembered for his love, caring, sensitivity and generosity – he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Alan and Nancy Harrison and Betty Gillespie, all of Alton, IL; his great grandmother, Ruth Bartlett of Jerseyville, IL; very loyal and supportive friends, John Willwerth and Pat Madden; his beloved dogs, Spot, Pepper and Agent 99; and numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Milton and Helen Gleason, late of Colchester.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday directly at The Congregational Church of Salem, 244 Hartford Road (Rte. 85), Salem, with Pastor Timothy B. Dubeau, officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Katherine Soutchek, 92, of Olenick Road, Lebanon, widow of the late Theodore F. Soutchek, passed away Sunday morning (Mar. 2, 2008) at the Windham Community Memorial Hospital in Willimantic.
Born Jan. 17, 1916 in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Frankewiscz) Poter.
On Dec. 2, 1949, she and Theodore were married and shared 47 years together before he predeceased her on May 28, 1997.
Mrs. Soutchek was a packer for S&S Leather in Colchester for 38 years before her retirement. In her spare time, she loved to cook and garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wheaton of Lebanon; her sister, Ann Zukowsky of Lebanon; Peter Smith, extended family member; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, John Potter and Michael and Peter Poter.
Friends may call Wednesday morning starting at 9 AM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Chapel Service will follow at 10 AM with Fr. Cyril Manolev, officiating. Interment will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
