Louis Luberti
MIDDLETOWN -- Louis Luberti, 84, husband of the late Josephine Milardo Luberti, of Liberty Street, Middletown, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at the Middlesex Convalescent Center.
He was born July 6, 1918, in Meriden, son of the late Peter and Lucy (Nunno) Luberti. He was a member of St. Sebastian Church, I.A.C.O. Elks Lodge No. 771, Holy Name Society, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the AARP. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Tony and Lou's Gulf Station, and later retired from the City of Middletown. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lani and Timothy Davis of Cromwell; two sisters, Rose Havy and Angelina Cirillo, both of Meriden; two grandchildren, Justin and Shane; a dear friend, Anna Cannata of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 23, from the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the funeral home.
Russell Marshall
MERIDEN -- Russell Marshall, 64, of 109 West Main St., formerly of 74 Simpson Ave., Wallingford died Sunday, May 19, 2002. He was the husband of Barbara Hoyler Marshall.
He was born in Meriden, Oct. 21, 1937, a son of the late Stanley and Olga Olson Marshall. Until his retirement, he was a truck driver with Pilot Freight Carriers. He was a member of the Newington Kiwanis and the National Fishing Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Clifford Marshall of Wallingford and Donald Marshall of Burlington, N.J.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Paul P. Brunelli
SOUTHINGTON -- Paul P. Brunelli, 64, of 51 Faye Lane, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Madeline (Verderame) Brunelli.
He was born July 21, 1937, in New Haven, son of Paul and Annette (Colizzi) Brunelli of Southington. He had retired in 1996 from Wilcox State Tech. School. Mr. Brunelli was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. He was past president of the Connecticut Vocational Association Electronics Teacher and Dept Chairman at Oliver Wolcott and Wilcox State Technical Schools. He was past president of the Southington UNICO, a member of the Southington Genealogical Society, the Hartford Barbershop Chorus, Bell City Pistol Team, the Meriden Amateur Radio Club and was an avid fisherman.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Peter C. Brunelli and his wife Sandra and a daughter, Maria Charlton and her husband Troy, all of Southington; three beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah Jane and Caroline Charlton; a sister, Bertha Termine and her husband, Anthony of Boston, Mass.; an uncle, Edward Brunelli and his wife Emma; and an uncle, James Brunelli; many nieces and nephews, including god-daughter, Christina Termine and Michele T. Filice and her husband Robert.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Evelyn B. Sobolewski
MERIDEN -- Evelyn B. Sobolewski, 78, of 175 Elm St., died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Coccomo Memorial Care & Rehab Center.
Born in Meriden, June 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Frances (Zima) Sobolewski and had resided in Meriden all her life. She was educated in Meriden schools and the Meriden Hospital School of Radiology. She was employed by Eye Physicians of CT. until her retirement. She was a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by two nephews, Herman and Martin Schmidt and a niece, Frances Marcantonio, all of Meriden; one great-nephew, Danny Marcantonio; and three great-nieces, Heidi, Krista and Susan Schmidt. She was predeceased by four sisters, May Sobolewski, Katherine Schmidt, Beatrice Ryan and Helen Sobolewski; three brothers, Rev. John J. Sobolewski, Martin A. Sobolewski and Anthony F. Sobolewski.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. A private burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Lawrence R. VanCor
SOUTHINGTON -- Lawrence R. VanCor, 80, of 18 Birchcrest Drive, died Monday, May 20, 2002 at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of 52 years of the late Merilda DuFresne VanCor.
Born in West Fairlee, Vt., the son of the late Warren and Lulu (Brown) VanCor. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. VanCor was a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post No. 72. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed by Insilco Corp. for 32 years.
He is survived by two sons, Norman VanCor of Harwinton and Kenneth VanCor of Monument Beach, Mass.; three granddaughters, Christine and Kimberly VanCor and Charlene Mastrianni; a sister, Dee Pease of West Springfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marie Mastrianni.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Joseph J. Aldi
SOUTHINGTON -- Joseph J. Aldi, 79, of 248 Mill St., died Monday, May 20, 2002. He was the husband of Eleanor (Ciasulio) Aldi.
Born in Southington on July 2, 1922, the son of the late Domenic and Mariana (Perry) Aldi. He had retired in 1977 from Stanley Tool of Southington. Mr. Aldi was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Kiltonic Post No. 72. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, David J. Aldi of Vernon and Philip M. Aldi of Bristol; three sisters, Philomena Involino of Patterson, N.J., Christine Perrio of Hudson, N.Y., and Julia Palma of Danbury; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Brian; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery
with military honors. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
Jean P. Burkhardt
MERIDEN -- Jean Perreault Burkhardt, 80, of Barberry Lane, Meriden, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at her residence. She was the wife of 52 years of the late Leigh M. Burkhardt Sr.
Born in Meriden, Sept. 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Jules Perreault Sr. and the late Lucy Kissenbirth Perreault, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and had been employed by the Miller Company, SNET, and in Food Services for the Meriden School System for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Burkhardt was a parishioner of All Saints Church in Meriden and an active member with her friends, at the Church Thrift Shop. This quiet elegant woman enjoyed needlepoint, reading and spending time with her precious dog Greta.
A dedicated and loving mother and sister, she is survived by her children, Claudia Burkhardt of Jackson Hole, Wyo., Shelley Tylec and her husband, William of Waterbury and Leigh H. Burkhardt Jr. of Haddam; her brother, Jules "Buddy" Perreault Jr. and his wife, Emma of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in All Saint Episcopal Church. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery

Mary I. Farrell
HAMDEN -- Mary I. Corbett Farrell of 64 Broadway, Hamden died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at her home. She was the wife of the late, Arthur W. Farrell.
Mrs. Farrell was born in Pennsylvania Sept. 5, 1910, daughter of the late John F. and Mary Rochette Corbett. She was, before her retirement may years ago, manager of the cafeterias of the Mt. Carmel School and the Sleeping Giant School. She was a resident of Hamden since 1941 and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
She was the mother of William A. Farrell of Hamden and his wife, Earlene and James E. Farrell of Wallingford and his wife, Barbara; aunt of John Corbett of Florida and Kenneth Ryan of Hamden; also survived by seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, John Corbett; and a granddaughter, Joan Farrell.

Robert Muravnick
MERIDEN -- Robert "Monk" Muravnick, 72, husband of the late Dorothy (White) Muravnick, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at MidState Medical Center.
Born in Meriden on Dec. 25, 1929, the son of Max Muravnick of Meriden and the late Frances (Ritchie) Swabski, he was educated in Meriden schools. Mr. Muravnick was employed by New Departure, Hyatt Bearing Division of General Motors and the City of Meriden. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church. He was very active in the Meriden Amateur Softball Association and coached for many years.
Besides his father, Max, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Muravnick and Dave Masnato, both of Meriden; three sisters, Patricia Torchia and Frances Henderson, both of Meriden and Janice Wheaton of Southington; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden with the Rev. Robert Roy of St. Mary Church officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.
