John H. Enright
SOUTHINGTON -- John H. Enright, 78, of 97 Crescent St., Plantsville section, died Friday, May 10, 2002, in Wilcox, Tenn. He was the widower of Pat (Hurley) Enright.
Born and raised in New Haven, the son of the late John M. and Catherine (Lenihan) Enright. He attended local schools in New Haven. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Enright retired in 1983 from the Newington VA Hospital.
Mr. Enright is survived by a son, Tom Enright and his wife Margaret of Gray, Tenn.; a daughter, Catherine Morris and her husband Keith of Plantsville; a sister, Lorraine McDermott of North Stonington; four grandchildren, Alan Morris, Amy and her husband, Barry Wright, Mary Morris and Caitlin Enright; and a great-granddaughter, Molly Wright.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery
with military honors. There are no calling hours. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is in care of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington, CT 06489.
Anthony Fucci
MYRTLE BEACH ESTATES, S.C. -- Anthony Fucci, 94, husband of the late Mary Impronto Fucci, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in New York City, March 9, 1908, the son of the late Savino and Annina Izza Fucci. He was a former resident of Meriden, having lived on Parkview Street for many years. He and his wife were residents of Jersey City, N.J. for several years prior to moving to Meriden. He was a resident of South Carolina for the past year. Mr. Fucci retired in 1996, from operating his own barbershop in Railroad Ave. for many years. He had been active in the Barbers Union. He had attended New York University until the Great Depression. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Meriden.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Robert Tomassetti of South Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Sally Fucci of Oviedo, Fla.; six grandchildren, Scott Tomassetti of Cheshire, Tami Tomassetti and her fiancee, Michael Simmons of Jacksonville, Fla., Mark and his wife, Roxanne Fucci, Christopher Fucci, Stephen Fucci, Melissa and her husband, Scott Baker; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Anthony Fucci; two cousins, Bena D'Elia and Anthony and his wife, Dolores Lipari, all of New Jersey.
His funeral will be held Thursday, May 16, 2002, gathering in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street, at 9:15 a.m. with procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for his 10 a.m. funeral liturgy. He will interred with his wife in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call in the funeral home, Wednesday, May 15, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Elizabeth Marchese
SPRING HILL, Fla. -- Elizabeth Marchese, 78, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Wallingford, died Saturday, May 11, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Philip; son, Richard; daughter, Marion Zambory, both of Wallingford siblings, Walter Dembiczak of West Haven and Violet Condon of Quincy, Mass.; grandchildren, Stephanie Robertson, Taryn Zambory; and great-grandson, Tyler Robertson, all of Wallingford. She was preceded in death by a son, Philip John.
Antoinette H. Mongillo
SOUTHINGTON -- Antoinette H. Bruno Mongillo, 93, of Walkley Drive, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Branford Hospice. She was the wife of the late Ralph J. Mongillo.
Born in New York in the Bronx, June 12, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose Sirrullo Bruno and had been a Southington resident for the past 85 years. Mrs. Mongillo was an inspector at the former Allied Control before retiring almost 30 years ago, and was a longtime member of St. Thomas Church.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, James B. and Sandra Mongillo of Cape Cod and Donald J. and Joan Mongillo of Plantsville; one daughter, Diane M. DiCaprio of Southington; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
T. Ray Brickley Jr.
WALLINGFORD -- T. Ray Brickley Jr., 52, of Farm Hill Road, Wallingford, beloved husband of Candace Christopher Brickley, died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
Born in Everett, Mass., Sept. 26, 1949, a son of the late Thomas Raymond Brickley Sr. and Mary L. Butler Brickley, he had been a Wallingford resident for many years. Mr. Brickley was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and had been an All American Baseball Player while at UConn. He was employed in the Claims Management field with several Insurance Companies throughout Connecticut and was a member of the Uconn Dugout Club.
Besides his wife, Candace, he is survived by his son, Michael C. Brickley of Wallingford; his sister, Mary O'Connor of Everett, Mass.; his three brothers, Brian Brickley of Andover, Mass., and Craig Brickley and William Brickley, both of Everett, Mass.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Ricarda Carrillo-Ortiz
WALLINGFORD -- Ricarda Carrillo-Ortiz, 91, of Wallingford, died Monday, May 13, 2002 at a local nursing center.
She was born April 78, 1910 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. A daughter of the late Isaias and Dominga (Carrillo) Ortiz. She was a parishioner of the Most Holy Trinity Church of Wallingford.
She is survived by a son, Rubin Ortiz of Wallingford.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place on Friday, May 17, in Munciple Cemetery, Rio Grande, Puerto Rice. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Sheila Chausse
MIDDLEFIELD -- Sheila Davino Chausse, 54, of 63 Lake Shore Drive, died Saturday, May 11, 2002 in the MidState Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Meriden, a daughter of Mario D. Davino of Meriden and the late Theresa Guitard Davino, she was a resident of Meriden most of her life. She graduated from Platt High School, also the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. She had been employed in both the Health Department and the Planning Department of the City of Meriden for many years.
Besides her father, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Alfred Sagnella of Guilford; two nephews, Chad and Justin Sagnella; and aunt, Doris Dreier of Meriden; and her companion, Daniel Gorner, also of Middlefield.
Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden with her prayer service at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. She will be interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Contributions to the Meriden Humane Society, 540 Oregon Road, Meriden, CT 06451, will be greatly appreciated.
George R. Cummings Jr.
OLD LYME -- George R. "Dick" Cummings Jr. of Old Lyme, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at his home in Delray Beach, Fla.
He was born June 28, 1912 in Meriden, son of George and Ellen (Garrity) Cummings.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail Docktor of Delray Beach, Fla.; and son, Marc of Old Lyme, Fla.; along with 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, George III; and his sister, Dr. Frances Roach.
There will be a memorial Mass on Friday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Lyme St., Old Lyme. Donations his memory may be made to the Dr. Frances Cummings Roach Scholarship Fund, c/o Old Lyme High School, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
Winfield M. Darrow Sr.
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Winfield M. Darrow Sr., of 608 East Passaic Ave., Bloomfield, N.J., died on Saturday, May 4, 2002. He was the husband of Charlotte (Stickel) Darrow.
He was the son of the late Marsden G. Darrow and Anna Anschuetz Darrow Zeitel. He was born and raised in Meriden. He completed his education through the Meriden school system. He was a parishioner of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, N.J.
Besides his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia D. Hergenhan; a son-in-law, William Hergenhan; a son, Winfield M. Darrow Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Darrow; also by five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lillian Popski, Dorothy and Walter Johnson, Eva Naples, Margaret Niland and Frank Bordonaro; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Bordonaro; and a brother, Manfred Zeitel.
Funeral services were held May 8, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, N.J. Mr. Darrow's funeral was under the direction of Van Tassel's Funeral Home, 337 Belleville Ave., Bloomfield, N.J.
