Basil A. Farmer
TRESCOTT-LUBEC, Maine -- Basil (Base) A. Farmer, 64, went peacefully to be with his maker, his loving family by his side, April 18, 2002, at a Bangor Hospital.
Born in :Lubec, Dec. 4, 1937, the son of Sidney and Laura Davis Farmer. Basil was a graduate of Lubec High School, class of '56. He was formerly from Meriden, employed 28 years by Pratt-Whitney of North Haven as a general foreman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Judith Malloch Farmer of Trescott, Maine; three sons, Douglas Farmer and his wife, Gayle of Meriden, Jeffrey Farmer and his wife, Trisha of Suffield, David Farmer of Bristol; one daughter, Jane Grazioso and her husband, Tony of Southington; two brothers, Sidney Farmer of Bangor and John Farmer and his wife, Rowena of Oldsmar, Fla.; two sisters, Eileen McFadden and her husband, James, Rena McFadden and her husband, Derwin, all of Lubec; six grandchildren, Amber and Anthony Michael Grazioso of Southington, Matthew and Brittany Farmer of Meriden, Jonathan and Catherine Farmer of Suffield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Farmer.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with Pastor Gary Look, officiating. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Lubec. Friends who wish may make donations in his memory to the Lubec Fire Dept., Lubec, Maine 04652. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home of Calais.
Sara-Ann Oblon
MERIDEN -- Sara-Ann (O'Leary) Oblon, 44, beloved wife of Mark Oblon, died on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Born in Hartford, April 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Ann McNamee O'Leary of Meriden and the late John R. O'Leary. Mrs. Oblon graduated from St. Rose Parochial School, Maloney High School, class of 1975, St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1978. Mrs. Oblon was employed as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for the past 23 years in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Besides her husband and mother, she was the loving mother to four-year-old, Anya Marie Oblon and six-year-old, Christopher Mark Oblon. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Partrice O'Leary of Meriden, Elizabeth and Robert Kronenberger of Meriden, and Martha O'Leary of W. Hartford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John R. O'Leary Jr. and Donna O'Leary of Newington and Michael J. and Kathleen O'Leary of Reading, Mass. Mrs. Oblon is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Ernest G. Therrien
MERIDEN -- Ernest G. Therrien, 70, of Arlington St., died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in his home. He was the beloved husband of Erva Greenwood Therrien.
Born in Alburg, Vt., March 9, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Cleo Perreault Therrien, he was a Meriden resident for many years. Mr. Therrien was the proprietor of Therrien Construction Co., in Meriden, for over 30 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army.
Besides his beloved wife, Erva, Mr. Therrien is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Becky and James Grimshaw of Putnam, and Estelle Tresselt of Meriden; his son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Diane Therrien of Meriden; his six grandchildren, Suzanne Therrien, Jeremy Larose, Brian Larose, Sean Tresselt, Eric Tresselt, and Dustin Tresselt; his sister, Claire Therrien of New Britain; his mother-in-law, Etta Dame of Laconia, N.H.; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona (Mrs. Percy) Bouchard of Plainville, Millie Pierce of Alton Bay, N.H., Priscilla and Andrew Cronish of Plainville, Carlena Greenwood of Southington, Marshall and Benita Greenwood of Davie, Fla., Linda and Bill Bouchard of Belnap, N.H., Diane and Paul Voitkevics of Plainville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eva Elliott, Lucille Scaff, and Jeanne Bean; his brothers, Arthur Therrien, Raymond Therrien, Philip Therrien; and his brother-in-law, Percy Bouchard.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will then be held at 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
Manfred F. Zeitel
MERIDEN -- Manfred F. Zeitel, 70, of 20 Jepson Lane, husband of the late Sybil Lynes Zeitel, died on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at CT Hospice in Branford following a lengthy illness.
Born in Vermont on August 10, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Arna Aschuetz Zeitel. Mr. Zeitel resided in Meriden most of his life and attended local schools. He was employed by the L. Suzio Asphalt Co., retiring in 1991. Mr. Zeitel was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Laure and Jules Perreault Jr. of Wallingford, Cheryl and Michael Burnell of Meriden, Christine and Dennis Iannotti of Durham and Lisa and Michael Orzech of Southington; two sons, Frederick Zeitel of Plainville and James Niver of Enfield; 11 grandchildren, Justin and Melissa Perreault, Eric, Jessica, Tricia and Michael Burnell and Heather and Jason Iannotti and Sarah and Sean Orzech and Amanda Zeitel; four sisters; and a brother-in-law, Eva Naples of Southington, Lillian Poposki of New Hampshire, Dottie and Walter Johnson of Wallingford and Marge Niland of New Hampshire; a brother and sister-in-law, Winfield and Charlotte Darrow of New Jersey. Mr. Zeitel is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kayla Zeitel; and a sister, Gertrude Bordonaro.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at 9:15 from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Conn. Anthony I. delaSota
MIAMI, Fla. -- Anthony I. delaSota, 73, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Wallingford passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2002 after a short illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born Dec. 28, 1928 in Cardenas, Cuba, son of the late Antonio and Blanca delaSota. He was a resident of Wallingford for 30 years and was employed by International Silver for 20 years and Ulbrich Steel for 10 years before his retirement to Miami.
Besides his loving wife of 50 years, Rosa Maria (DeMarcos) Mr. delaSota is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maritza and John Wolcheski; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Mary delaSota and Dr. Dean delaSota and his wife, Claudia of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Carmen delaSota of New Jersey; and two brothers, Frank and Coralia delaSota of New Jersey and Ridel and Esperanza delaSota of Miami; three grandsons, John and his wife, Amy Wolcheski, Jeff and his wife, Kelly Wolcheski and T.J. delaSota, all of Wallingford; four granddaughters, Rachel delaSota of Wallingford and Melissa, Rebecca and Delia delaSota of Miami, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Rosa Wolcheski and Riley Allison Wolcheski of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial services were held in Miami, Fla.
Alba Draghi
WALLINGFORD -- Alba Cassano Draghi, 83, of Marc Drive, entered into rest Sunday, April 21, 2002, in the Regency House of Wallingford. She was the beloved wife for 61 years of Rolland L. Draghi.
Born in Wallingford, July 3, 1918, a daughter of the late Peter and Angelina Vessavoe Cassano, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident. Mrs. Draghi had been employed by the International Silver Co. for 35 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Libro Pensiero Ladies Auxiliary and had been a member of the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church and had been a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Society.
Besides her beloved husband, Rolland, Mrs. Draghi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Anthony Baylow of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Kimberly Kremzar and her husband, Carl M. Kremzar, Scott Baylow and Troy Baylow; her great-grandchildren, Carl M. Kremzar Jr., Danielle Kremzar, and Kara Kremzar; her sister, Rose Mellilo of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Regency House Van Fund, 181 East Main St., Wallingford, CT 06492.
Mary Halibozek
MERIDEN -- Mary Halibozek, 94, wife of the late Joseph Halibozek Sr., died Sunday, April 21, 2002, in the Silver Springs Care Center.
She was born July 22, 1907, a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Gowac Nosal. She was a resident of the Meriden since infancy. She retired from the Connecticut Telephone Co., in 1973, after over 15 years of employment. She had also worked for several years prior at New Departure. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Halibozek Jr. of Meriden; a daughter, Bernice LaQuerre of Sikeston, Mo.; two granddaughters, Susan D'Agostino of Gilbert, S.C., Karen McBreairty of Thomaston; one grandson, Thomas LaQuerre of Bristol; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Morello of Middletown; three brothers, Louie, Lenny and Eddie Nosal, all of Higganum; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters; and two brothers.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 25, at 9:15 a.m. in the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden with her Mass of Christian burial in St. Rose of Lima Church at 10 a.m. She will be interred with her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call in the funeral home Wednesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Daria A. Kraszewski
MERIDEN -- Daria A. Kraszewski, 59, of Meriden died Monday, April 22, 2002, at CT Hospice in Branford after a courageous battle with cancer.
She had graduated from local schools and from Central CT State College. She worked in the Meriden area for a number of firms in the accounting field.
Daria has no known survivors. She was predeceased by her sister, Maryann Kraszewski of Meriden.
The Funeral will be private. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Muriel H. Lynch
MERIDEN -- A memorial service for Muriel H. Lynch, who passed away Dec. 20, 2001, will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Hubbard Memorial Chapel of Walnut Grove Cemetery.
