Mary R. Sizemore
HAMDEN -- Mary Rose DiLallo Sizemore, 82, of 180 Treadwell St., Hamden, entered into rest eternal, Friday, March 16, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mabel Daldo DiLallo.
She was a retired seamstress for the former Richard Thomas Dress Co., in Hamden, and a former member of St. Stephen's Church Altar Society.
She was the mother of Mrs. Thomas (Beverly) Gormely of Southington and Mr. Robert (wife, Beverly) Sizemore of Durham; she also leaves six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Elko.
Funeral in Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, Monday at 8:15 a.m. A Mass at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Rita, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
Jennie A. Slamons
SOUTHINGTON -- Jennie A. Slamons, 81, of 180 West St, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at home. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Slamons.
She was born in Southington on Dec. 27, 1919, and was a life-long resident. Mrs. Slamons was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Immaculata Women's Club.
She was the loving mother of Sharon Carbone and her husband, Michael of Southington; the cherished grandmother of Stefanie M. Carbone and Aimee L. Carbone, both of Rocky Hill; she also leaves three brothers, Stanley and his wife, Amelia Albrycht of Southington, John Albrycht of Old Lyme, and Adolph Albrycht of Meriden; two sisters, Wanda Lorenzo of Southington and Mary Manton of Wolcott; and many nieces and nephews. She was recently predeceased by a loving son, James V. Slamons; and a loving sister, Henrietta Fortuna.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Elizabeth Yost
MERIDEN -- Elizabeth (Betty) Yost, wife of Leo F. Yost, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Westfield Care and Rehab Center.
She was born in Vanderbilt, Pa., the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Kuruca) Stagon. She had been a resident of Meriden for many years and worked at International Silver Co., Factory H, until she retired. She was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church.
In addition to her husband, she also leaves a daughter Carolyn; her brother, Joseph; and her sisters, Anne Giannelli, Emma Peneault and Ethel Bartis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Stephen, John, Andrew Michael; her sister, Helen; and nephews, Michael Jr. and Dennis Stagon.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday, March 19, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Angels Church, 915 Main St., South Meriden, CT 06451, or Franciscan Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
Almon B. Hall
MARATHON, Fla. -- Almon B. Hall Jr., 82, better known as Bud of Marathon, Fla., died on March 11, 2001, at the Marathon Manor Nursing Home after being in ill health for a year.
Mr. Hall was born Jan. 2, 1919, the son of the late Almon and Gertrude Hall. He was a graduate of the Wallingford public schools and Syracuse University. He worked in the family business, Hall Brothers on Cook Hill until he went to Florida about 30 years ago. He owned a hardware store in Marathon, Fla.
He is survived by three sisters, Sylvia Morrison of Madison, Catharine Stearns of Ithaca, N.Y., and Ellen Nott of Walpole, N.H. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie; and a brother, David.
The arrangements are under the direction of the Martin-Vegue Funeral Home in Marathon, Fla.
Albert Kirtland
WALLINGFORD -- Albert R. "Reg" Kirtland, 85, Ashlar Village (Pond Ridge,) Wallingford, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Doris Roth Kirtland.
Born in Hartford, Aug. 26, 1915, a son of the late Ernest V. and Carrie S. Brooks Kirtland, he had attended Henry C. Dwight School, Alfred E. Burr School and Buckley High School, all in Hartford, graduating in 1933 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Following his graduation, he had been employed by Colt Firearms, the Merrow Machine Co., and the "Radio Hospital," all in Hartford, until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1941. Mr. Kirtland served in the North African Campaign from November 1943 until November 1944 and had served until the wars end in 1945. He and his wife were married in May 1944, and had lived in Massachusetts before moving to Manchester in 1956 where he was a Wells St., resident for 41 years before moving to Wallingford two years ago. Mr. Kirtland was a licensed Sound Engineer and had been employed by Stromberg-Carlson and Tel-Rad, both in Hartford, until his retirement in 1977.
Besides his wife, Mr. Kirtland is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn D. "Kitty" and William Phillips III of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Chubet, Jennifer Yother and William Phillips IV; his sister, Marion F.K. Vogt of North Truro, Mass.; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is two sisters, Carrie E.K. Dougherty and Gladys A.K. Sheffield.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Graveside funeral services and burial in East Cemetery

Inez Kuhn
MERIDEN -- Inez Kuhn, 91, of 360 Broad St., formerly of 45 Parker Farms Road, Wallingford, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Elmer J. Griswold, Sr. and Walter Kuhn.
She was born in North Haven, Jan. 12, 1910, a daughter of the late William W. and Blanche L. Clinton Stevens. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford and the Wallingford Senior Citizen's Center.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer J. Griswold, Jr. of Wallingford and Clifford Griswold of New Windsor, N.Y., two daughters, Betty Los of Melbourne, Fla., and Louise Sweet of Mt. Glead, N.C.; her twin sister, Carrie Porter of Meriden; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Gladys M. O'Brien
MERIDEN -- Gladys M. O'Brien, 91, of 320 Colony St., formerly of 48 Village Road, Southington, wife of the late John R. O'Brien, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at the Bradley Home.
Born in Meriden on Oct. 20, 1909, the daughter of the late David and Isabel Carrigan Senecal, she had been a resident of Meriden for most of her life. Mrs. O'Brien was a graduate of Meriden High School and Laurel Business School. She was the retired office manager of the former 7-Up Bottling Co., of Meriden. Mrs. O'Brien was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, and a member of the St. Joseph Rosary Society, the Columbian Ladies of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Agnes Guild.
She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Montemurro of South Meriden; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn Montemurro; Peter and his wife, Kathleen Montemurro, Stephen and his wife, Theresa Montemurro, and Robert Jr. and his wife, Louise Montemurro; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, David, Lorrie, Joseph, Marisa, Alyssa and Ryan Montemurro; two sisters, Eunice Reppert and Barbara Parker; a sister-in-law, Barbara O'Brien; also several nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Joseph School, 159 W. Main St., or to the Bradley Home, 320 Colony St., Meriden, CT 06451.
George R. Albanese
CHESHIRE -- George R. Albanese, 66, of 851 S. Meriden Road, died Tuesday at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Shirley (Chandler) Albanese.
Mr. Albanese was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dec. 11, 1934, a son of Marjorie (Knapple) Albanese of Simsbury and the late Dominick V. Albanese. He graduated from Leavenworth High School and had lived in Cheshire since 1965. Mr. Albanese was a retired tool and die maker, having worked at Cheshire Ball and Socket for 40 years and retired from Waterbury Button in 1995. Mr. Albanese was a member of the Harmony Lodge No. 42, AF & AM, and was a scoutmaster of Troop 92 of Cheshire. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire and a U.S. Navy peacetime veteran.
Besides his mother, of Simsbury, and his wife, of Cheshire, he leaves two sons, George R. Albanese Jr. and his wife Karen of Torrington and Roy D. Albanese and his wife Megan of Cheshire; a sister, Joan Stramel, and her husband, Edward of Windsor; and five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, on the green, 111 Church Drive. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private, in Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Connecticut Hospice Inc., 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405. The Alderson Funeral Home, 615 S. Main St., Cheshire of in charge of arrangements.
Camille Campbell
BRISTOL -- Camille "Uncle Bee" Campbell, 75, of 78 Park St., died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at home .
He was born in Ft. Kent, Maine, the son of the late Raymond and Georgianna (Daigle) Campbell. He was a former resident of Southington. He had worked as a landscaper for many years.
He is survived by three sisters, Leone Ouellette of Wallagrass, Maine, Yvonne Nadeau of Plantsville and Viola Ayotte of Bristol; his long time companion, Patricia Fichman of Bristol; several nieces and nephews including, Cheryl Savage, whom he raised.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
