Mary E. Kaemmer

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. -- Mary Ellen O'Brien Kaemmer of Murrells Inlet, S.C., died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home in South Carolina.

Born Sept. 5, 1934, in Meriden, a daughter of the late Edmund and Irene Quinn O'Brien, she was a retired dental hygienist and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She is survived by a son, David Kaemmer of Chapel Hill, N.C.; daughters, Dale Kaemmer of Truckee, Calif., and Diane Kaemmer of East Haddam; brothers, Edmund J. O'Brien of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Paul T. O'Brien of North Haven; and grandchildren, Ian and Quinn Kaemmer, both of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church, Murrells Inlet, S.C. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, S.C., with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave., North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.

Jane E. Niland

MERIDEN -- Jane E. Niland, 85, of 7 Sunbright Drive, south, daughter of the late Thomas F. and Vera Saleski Niland, died peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2001 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born in Toronto, Canada on July 6, 1915, she had resided in Meriden her entire life. Miss Niland attended St. Joseph Parochial School and was a graduate of Meriden High School. She received her registered nurse degree at the former Meriden Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation, she worked at the Misericordia Hospital in New York City in the Obstetrics Department before returning to Meriden where she worked for over 35 years at Meriden Hospital. Miss Niland retired in 1980 as the Assistant Director of Nursing. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.

Miss Niland is survived by a lifelong friend, Betty Femia of Meriden; a sister, Thelma Clarke of Meriden; two nephews, Keith Clarke of Meriden and Doug and his wife, Amy, of Kensington; a niece, Maureen Clarke and her husband, Terry Bentley of Westfield, N.J.; also by two great-nephews and two great-nieces, Amanda Clarke of Meriden, Aaron and Molly Clarke of Kensington and Daniel Bentley of New Jersey. Miss Niland will be remembered lovingly for her sense of humor, independent spirit and courage.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Edith A. Fazzone

CHESHIRE -- Edith Ann (Morgan) Fazzone, 80, of 115 Old Towne Road, widow of Joseph J. Fazzone, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Fazzone was born in Danbury, March 21, 1920, a daughter of the late James and Julia (Heady) Morgan and had been a Cheshire resident since 1938, moving here from Danbury. Along with her husband, she was the former co-owner of J.J. Fazzone Nursery of Cheshire. She was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church.

She leaves one daughter, Sandra Gregory, and her husband, Louis, of Wallingford; one brother, James Morgan, of Georgia; two grandchildren, Rebecca Gregory of Falls Church, Va. and Jason Gregory of Boston, Mass.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., to St. Bridget's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Dr. Bernard Kramer

WALLINGFORD -- Dr. Bernard Kramer, of 12 Bonnie Court, devoted husband of Beatrice Kramer, passed away Friday, March 16, 2001.

He was the beloved father of Rebecca Koenigsberg of New Haven, Deborah Netanel of Cincinnati, Davida Kramer of San Jose, Calif., and Miriam Gabriel of London; dear brother of Meyer Kramer of New Jersey and David Kramer of Maryland; also survived by two cherished grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven, Monday at 3:30 p.m., with interment services to following at the Beth Hamedrosh Cemetery, Brockett Place, East Haven. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of one's choice. A period of mourning will be observed at 20 Elmwood Road, New Haven.

James Fair Jr.

MERIDEN -- James Fair Jr., 72, of 109 Linsley Ave., husband of Odessa (Monda) Fair, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Westfield Manor in Meriden.

He was born July 6, 1928, in Knoxville, Tenn., a son of the late James and Mildred (Moran) Fair Sr. James worked for Allegheny Ludlum Co. in Wallingford until his retirement. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was also an avid bowler.

James is survived by his wife, Odessa; and one son, James Anthony Fair, both of Meriden; and many friends who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden, on Monday, March 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Willie Young of Mount Hebron Baptist Church will begin a service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Isabelle Gracey

MERIDEN -- Isabelle (McGoldrick) Gracey, 90, formerly of 292 Thorpe Ave., wife of the late Joseph J. Gracey Sr., passed away Friday evening at the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center in Wallingford, after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden, April 11, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Schappacasse) McGoldrick and had resided in Meriden all her lifetime. Mrs. Gracey was educated in the Meriden schools and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, and a member of the Meriden Police and Firefighters Retirement Association.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Donald Preece of Meriden and Old Saybrook; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Ellen Gracey Jr. of Meriden; a son-in-law, Edward "Ted" Gaffey of Meriden; 10 grandchildren, Megan Terragna, Ellen Orzel, and Jon Gaffey; Donald Preece Jr., Joann Preece, and Debra Beaudoin; Kathy Gaffey, Karen Piquol, Kelly Gracey, and Jay Gracey; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Gaffey.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m.

Mable L. Timmreck

NEW HAVEN -- Mable L. Falk Timmreck, a resident of Ashlar Village in Wallingford, former longtime resident of Woodward Avenue, New Haven, died March 15, 2001, in Branford. She was the wife of the late Carl A. Timmreck Sr.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl A. and Barbara Timmreck Jr.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine T. and Robert C. Brown; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Falk; a sister, Ellen Bywater; and her parents, Gustave and Pauline Johnson Falk.

Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory are requested to be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405 or the Masonic Charity Foundation, Masonic Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Charles E. Coyle

MERIDEN -- Charles E. Coyle, 97, formerly of 83 Broad St., son of the late Charles and Margaret Connerton Coyle, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at the MidState Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in New Britain, he was educated in the Meriden school system. His last employment was Fafnir Bearing Co., in Newington, retiring in 1963. Mr. Coyle was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.

He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Dorothy M. Bouchard of Warwick, R.I.; a close friend, Anna Vickers of Meriden; also several cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Daley Sweeney of Meriden and Margaret M. Barlow of Hartford; and by a brother, Andrew Daley of New York City.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Meriden. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Loraine F. Gannon

WALLINGFORD -- Loraine F. Uhen Gannon, 95, of Southside Drive, formerly of Long Hill Road, Wallingford, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Gannon.

Born in Burlington, Wis., Oct. 7, 1905, a daughter of the late Frederick and Dora Recktenwald Uhen, she had been a Wallingford resident for 60 years. A parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection, Mrs. Gannon had been the parish secretary of the church from 1963 until 1990. She had served as the assistant secretary from 1990 until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection Ladies Guild, a past member of the Most Holy Trinity Church Mother's Circle, CANA and the Bellermine Guild of Fairfield University.

She is survived by four sons and five daughters-in-law, Kevin E. and Marilyn S. Gannon, Michael E. and Evelyn S. Gannon, all of Wallingford, Timothy E. and M. Eileen Gannon of Killingworth, Patrick E. and Janet L. Gannon of Rochester, Minn., and Cathleen Gannon of Durham; 10 grandchildren, Edward Gannon and his wife, Theresa, David Gannon and his wife, Nadine, Kelly Gannon, Edward (Ned) Gannon, Cathleen (Katie) Gannon, Christina Gannon, Jennifer Gannon, Sarah Gannon, Daniel P. Gannon and Katharine Gannon; four great-grandchildren, Rose, Barbara, Kayla and Jenna Gannon; four brothers, Rev. Cletus Uhen of Racine, Wis., Victor Uhen of Hot Springs, Ark., Donald Uhen of Burlington, Wis., and Richard Uhen of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Denis E. Gannon; a sister, Sister Rosita Uhen, O.P.; and a brother, Roman Uhen.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of Resurrection where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Matilda T. Sabino

WALLINGFORD -- Matilda T. Gianfredo Sabino, 91, formerly of North High St., East Haven, died Friday, March 16, 2001, in the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Anthony A. Sabino.

Born in New Haven, Sept. 12, 1909, a daughter of the later Peter and Maria Sassano Gianfredo, she had been a Wallingford resident before moving to East Haven many years ago. She had been employed by the Pegnataro's Food Store for many years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Mrs. Sabino is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald A. and Dolores Castellon Sabino of Los Angeles, Calif., and Paul R. and Margaret Marchi Sabino of Yalesville; her seven grandchildren, Joanne Petz, Cathy Morrison and her husband, David, Anthony Sabino and his wife, Karen, Elizabeth Sabino King and her husband, Thomas, Paul A. Sabino and his wife, Nancie, Christopher J. Sabino and Douglas a. Sabino; her sister-in-law, Louise Gianfredo of Hamden; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Eva Battista and Jennie DeLorenze; and her four brothers, Julius Gianfredo, Michael Gianfredo, Lawrence Gianfredo and Americo Gianfredo.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
