Diane Swenson, 57,
nursing home worker
Diane Swenson, 57, of Putnam, a Greenwich native, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, at her home.
The cause of death has not been determined yet, according to her family.
Born Jan. 27, 1945, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of Margaret Thunquist Conway of Greenwich and the late Chester Conway.
A resident of Putnam since 1970, Mrs. Swenson worked at several area nursing homes and most recently was a constant care specialist at Day Kimball Hospital.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Putnam and a volunteer at Day Kimball Hospital.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Swenson is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Swenson of Putnam; two daughters, Jennifer Diehl of Sterling, Mich., and Renee Deveau of Stratford; five brothers, Chester Conway of Greenwich, Jonathan Conway of Wilton, Ronald Conway of White Plains, N.Y., Timothy Conway of Stamford and Christopher Conway of Norwalk; two sisters, Carol Plunkett of Stamford and Maryanne Conway of Greenwich; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Swenson was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Conway and Gerald Conway; and a sister, June Tutulo.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery
in Putnam.
Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, is handling the arrangements.
Jill M. Uzar, 47,
Pitney Bowes employee
Jill M. Uzar, 47, of Greenwich, an employee of Pitney Bowes in Stamford, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Stamford Hospital.
She died of pneumonia, according to her fiancé, William Martin of Greenwich.
Born Oct. 29, 1954, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Opal Uzar.
Raised and educated in Stamford, she had worked at Pitney Bowes for 29 years and was an accounts payable coordinator.
Miss Uzar had lived three years in Greenwich.
She was an avid bowler, who bowled for many years in the Stamford Girls Independent League. Miss Uzar was a New York Yankees fan.
Surviving is a sister, Barbara Ecenrode of Pottsville, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Penny Uzar, and by her stepfather, Joseph Reilly.
Calling hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester, N.Y.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the White Plains Rural Cemetery
in White Plains, N.Y.

Susan D. W. Truitt, 80,
decorator, caterer
Susan Davis Wilson Truitt, an interior decorator and caterer who lived in Stamford since 1961, died Monday, Sept. 30 at Stamford Hospital. She was 80.
She died of breast cancer, according to her family.
Born March 22, 1922, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Levi Davis Sr. and Serphronia Davis.
Mrs. Truitt was a member of Union Baptist Church in Stamford where she participated in the Lycium group, the Women's Auxiliary, the Willing Workers and the Alabama Group.
She worked as an interior decorator and caterer in Greenwich for many years.
She was secretary, chairman of finances and served on the board of directors of the Yerwood Center in Stamford. She also was a member and the president of the Yerwood Women's Club.
Mrs. Truitt is survived by her husband, Robert Truitt Sr. of Stamford; a son, John L. Wilson of Norwalk; a daughter, Bettye Smith of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Ben Davis and John Davis, both of Northport, Ala.; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 and at Downer Funeral Home Inc., 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford. A memorial service will follow with the Rev. Robert W. Perry officiating.
Burial will take place in Tuscaloosa at a later date.

Bruce Paltrow, 58,
producer and director
Producer and director Bruce Paltrow, the patriarch of a show business family that includes Oscar-winning daughter Gwyneth Paltrow, died in Italy yesterday. He was 58.
Mr. Paltrow died from complications of pneumonia and a recurrence of cancer, according to his daughter's publicist.
Born in Brooklyn in 1943, Mr. Paltrow took his first major steps in show business in his late 20s, working in New York as a writer for Screen Gems Pictures. In 1970, he married actress Blythe Danner.
He made his breakthrough with the ABC television action-comedy movie called "Shirts/Skins" in 1973, which he wrote and produced.
His first wide recognition came for writing, producing and directing the show "The White Shadow," about a professional basketball player who retires to coach at an inner-city high school. He was nominated for best-drama Emmys in 1980 and 1981 for this work.
In the 1980s, his work on the TV show "St. Elsewhere" helped make the hospital saga one of the most popular and captivating shows of the period, featuring odd, frustrated characters and stories that blended comedy and tragedy.
In 1997, he received the first Diversity Award from the Directors Guild of America, and was recognized as a champion of the rights of women and minorities.
Mr. Paltrow is survived by his wife, his daughter and a son, Jake Paltrow.
Gwyneth Paltrow's spokesman said Bruce Paltrow's body would be returned to the United States, although specific funeral plans remained uncertain.
Joan A. Vitti

Joan A. Vitti, 63, of Norwalk, the mother of a town resident, died Sunday, Sept. 29, at her home.
She died of a heart attack, according to her daughter, Deborah Jezierski of Cos Cob.
Born Sept. 26, 1939, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Veihbrook Ciolek.
A homemaker, Mrs. Vitti enjoyed cooking and bingo.
She is survived, in addition to her daughter in Cos Cob, by her husband, Ernest Vitti of Greenwich; two other daughters, Maryann Mullin of Milford, Pa., and Donna DeSanzo of Fairfield; a son, Victor Vitti of Norwalk; a sister, Frances Nemchek of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Covello and Marge Losito.
Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave.
