Frances Martha Schablitzky Koeble (OMA)

Frances Martha Schablitzky Koeble of New Milford died Monday night at New Milford Hospital after a short illness. She was 83.
Born Oct. 1, 1919, in Junkerath, Germany, to Maximillian and Elizabeth Tomerla Schablitzky, Frances was the youngest of nine children and an avid gymnast while she lived in Germany. She came to the U.S. via ocean liner at age 17 and lived in an apartment in New York City’s MacDougal Alley with her late sister, Augusta Born. Frances was employed for several years as a domestic engineer and worked for the Governor of Pennsylvania .
She married her husband, Eric, in 1942 while he was serving as a sergeant in the American Army and, subsequently, followed him throughout his various assignments while stationed at different bases throughout the U.S.
Following his release from the service near the end of World War II, the couple settled in Jamaica, Queens, NY. Frances continued her physical fitness activities and became an avid swimmer, specializing in double back flips. She won many swimming awards at the YMCA in Jamaica.
Frances and her husband moved to Lake Carmel, NY, in 1972 and stayed there until 1990 when they relocated to New Milford to be near their daughter Linda. She was married to Eric for 53 years at the time of his death in March, 1996. Frances loved to watch birds in her garden, and enjoyed watching and listening to the music of Dutch violist André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. She attended St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in New Milford.
Frances is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver and son-in-law, Linda and Tomm Sprick of New Milford; her loving daughter, Ingrid Church of Fort Mill, SC; her grandchildren, Edward Noonan and his fiancée Karen Andrews of New Milford; John Church, and his wife Shannon of York, SC; her granddaughter, Christine Varadi and her husband Mark of Oak Ridge, NC; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Church of York, SC.
Calling hours will the on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road in New Milford. A Mass of the Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. Cremation will follow the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Frances’ name to Connecticut Community Care, 150 Mattatuck Heights, Waterbury, CT 06705.
Robert J. Anderson Sr.

Robert J. Anderson Sr., age 90, of 40 William Street, Danbury, the beloved husband of the late Florence Elizabeth (Marshall) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, New York, died Sunday morning at the Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on October 23, 1912, the son of the late Oswald and Sarah (James) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, NY. He grew up in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, June 1931.
Mr. Anderson served in the U.S. Army Battery B, 405TH Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 1943 through 1945.
After returning from active duty, Mr. Anderson returned to his banking position then worked for the County of Westchester NY until his retirement.
He was a member and past master of Vernon Lodge Order of Masons, a member and past patron of Vernon Stewart Chapter Order of The Eastern Star, and a member of the Baptist Church, Bronxville, NY.
Mr. Anderson moved to Danbury in 1988. He was a member of the King Street United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son Robert Anderson Jr. and his wife Marion of Howard Beach, NY, their two daughters, Karen Anderson of Concord, MA, and Laura (Anderson) LoPresti and her husband Fillippo LoPresti and their two daughters, Jennifer and Christine, of Elmont, NY; and by his daughter Barbara (Anderson) LaBarbera and her husband Frank LaBarbera of Danbury, their son Robert of Danbury, and their daughter Michelle of Norwalk. He is also survived by his nephew Edward Anderson, his wife and two children, of Treichlers, PA. and Gayle (Anderson) Kutzler and her two daughters, of Allentown, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Bonnie Bardot of the King Street United Church of Christ, Danbury, officiating. Burial will be at the Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492-7522.
Mon S. Wong

Mon S. Wong, 82, of Spring Street, Danbury, devoted husband of Fay (Kwan) Wong, died on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
He was born on May 6, 1920, in China, and made his home in the United States in 1936. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army.
Mon joined the Danbury community in 1948 and was co-owner with his close friend and cook, the late Lester Chan, of the former Ho Yuen Restaurant and the Ying Wah Laundry, both on Main Street. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching boxing, baseball, basketball and tennis. He was a humble gentleman, giving freely of himself to his friends and family. He loved to help those in need, sending money to China to renovate a local school, supporting the Danbury Police and Fire Departments and numerous other charities.
Besides his devoted wife of 55 years, Mon is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Nick Bologna, and his daughter-in-law, Diane Wong, wife of the late Danny Wong. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Bruce and Missy MacIntyre, Mon MacIntyre, Sasha and Joseph Barata III, and Elaine, Ann Marie, Daniel and Michael Wong, as well as great-grandchildren Kristopher, Abagail and Krystal MacIntyre, Cynthia and Emily Barata, and several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his brother and sister, Ping Shuen Eng and Gim Yang, both of New York, N.Y.; his mother-in-law, Chen Yuk Gen; and close family friends, Jackie and Richard Chan.
Friends may call today, Dec. 3, between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street in Danbury. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 9:30 a.m. with Reverend Laura J. Ahrens officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.

Cecile Champagne

Cecile A. Champagne, 77, of Lawrence Road, Derry, N.H., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Concord, N.H., on Aug. 19, 1924, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Eva E. (LeBlanc) Champagne. She was a resident of Derry for seven years and was a former resident of Danbury and South Orange, N.J.
She graduated in 1947 from Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Orange, N.J., and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1957 from Rutgers University School of Nursing, Newark, N.J.
She retired in 1990 from New Milford Hospital.
She is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Kerns of Westboro, Mass., and Ruth Sanders of Massachusetts, as well as four nieces and three nephews.
There will be no services at the request of the family.

Kenneth Totten

Kenneth R. Totten, 78, of Carmel, N.Y., a self-employed excavator, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.
He was born in Carmel Oct. 27, 1923, son of the late Frank and Edna (Sniffen) Totten.
A resident of Carmel for the past 20 years, he lived most of his life in Brewster, N.Y. He served in the Army during World War II.
On Sept. 15, 1946, in Brewster, he married Mary (Smith) Totten, who predeceased him in January of 2000.
Mr. Totten was a Gold Star Father, a member of Mahopac Post 1080 of the American Legion and a Lifetime Member and Quartermaster for Post 672 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda Totten and Rhonda Morelli, both of New Fairfield, Margaret Kenny of Carmel and April Palantier of Wingdale, N.Y.; and two sisters, Edna Cable of Brewster and Evelyn Mahoney of Patterson, N.Y.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Kenneth R. Totten Jr., who was killed in Vietnam in 1968.
Calling hours are Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster.
Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
Frank Lagowski

Frank Lagowski, 88, of 7 Wilkes Road, Danbury, husband of the late Maria (Bosowska) Lagowski, died at Rosary Hill Home, Hawthorne, N.Y., on Tuesday, July 30, 2002.
Mr. Lagowski was born in Lancut, Stanislawow, Poland, Jan. 15, 1914, son of the late Alexander and Maria Lagowski. He attended schools in Poland and served in the Polish Army during World War II, serving in the Middle East and Italy. After the war, he lived in England, where he was joined by his wife. In 1955, they relocated to the United States and settled in Danbury.
He worked for more than 20 years as a machinist at the Cabot Corporation of Bethel, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Lagowski is survived by his daughter, Irene Lagowski of Danbury, with whom he made his home; his grandchildren, Tina Griffith and Edmund Plis; and his great-grandchildren, Bradley Toms, Kayley Griffith and Zachary Plis, all of California. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Kazimierz and Edmund Plis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Saturday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, Pa.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Elizabeth Davis

Elizabeth J. (Wixon) Davis, 85, of Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury, Conn., wife of the late G. Harold Davis, died July 31, 2002, at home.
Mrs. Davis was born on Aug. 1, 1916, to the late Ray and Anna (Gardner) Wixon in Danbury, Conn. Mrs. Davis attended Danbury schools and worked as an inspector/polisher at the Barden Corporation in Danbury for 31 years. She attended St. James Church and was an avid sports fan of both tennis and golf.
Mrs. Davis is survived by a son, Drew Davis of Danbury; two daughters, Donna Kamerzel of Port Orange, Fla., and Marcia Potenziani of Danbury; eight grandchildren, James Kamerzel III, Jodi Kamerzel Wilmot, Angelo Potenziani, Gina Potenziani, Tammy Potenziani Pascento, Mark Potenziani, Tracy Davis Buckie and Troy Davis; two sisters, Gloria Mannion of Danbury and Barbara Jones of Bethel; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, Conn., on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Whitfield, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Bethel, officiating.
Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
Victor A. Sinkus

Victor A. Sinkus died July 30, 2002 at the Danbury Hospital at the age of 64. He was the husband of Ellen S. Sinkus and lived on Prange Road in Brookfield.
Mr. Sinkus was born in Boston, March 26, 1938, son of Stella Dayledelis Sinkus and the late Adam Sinkus and was educated there. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp. and served from 1956 to 1959. He was employed as a systems analyst for Helicoil in Danbury from 1974 until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Sinkus enjoyed gold and was a member of the U.S. Golf Association.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his mother of Milton, Mass. and two sons, Steven Sinkus of Weymouth, Mass. and John Sinkus of North Conway, N.H.; his step son Rick Jacobs of Chicago and two step daughters, Syd Robenseifner of Sonoma, Calif. and Vicki Jones of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Sinkus of North Battleboro, Mass. and sister, Jeannie Hayes of Milton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald I. White

Mr. Ronald I. White, 63, of Bethel, formerly of Westport, husband of Lucille DeMeo White, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 in Danbury Hospital.
Mr. White was born in Bangor, Maine, son of the late Carl and Hellen Giggy White and has been a resident of Bethel for the past 23 years. Since 1985, Mr. White has been employed by the state of Connecticut as a judicial marshall at the Superior Court in Danbury. Following a four year tour in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961, Mr. White served 30 years in the Connecticut National Guard.
Survivors ,in addition to his wife, include two sons, Richard M. Frey, Sr., of Bethel, and Randy C. Peterson of Bridgeport; three brothers, Carl White, Jr., Harold White and Robert White; four sisters, DeMaris Sullivan, Abby Whitney, Linda White and Ikey Tappley, all of Maine; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10 a.m. in Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport. Interment with full military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Greens Farms. The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Edwin Gordon Blake

Edwin Gordon Blake, 55, of West Suffield, formerly of Granby and Sandy Hook, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at his home.
Born in Bridgeport, the son of Mildred (Danowski) Blake of Sandy Hook and the late John Gordon Blake, he grew up in Sandy Hook and had lived in Granby before moving to West Suffield a year and a half ago. He owned and managed IMS Travel Agency in Suffield.
Besides his mother, he leaves his former wife, Sandra R. Blake, of Granby; a son, Sean G. Blake, of Granby; three daughters, Carolyn R. Blake, of East Granby, Bettie E. Blake and Katherine E.R. Blake, both of Granby; a granddaughter, Emily G. Blake; a brother, Philip J. Blake and a sister, Leslie Brokaw, both of Sandy Hook; an aunt and uncle, Rudy and Lillian Danowski, of Oxford; and an aunt, Jane Weiss, of New Rochelle, N.Y.
A funeral Mass of Christina Burial will be held Thursday, August 1 at noon, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Rd., Newtown. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook. There are no calling hours.

Thomas G. Hart, Sr.

Thomas G. Hart, Sr., 74, of Hyde Park, N.Y. died on Monday, July 29, 2002 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his family by his side.
Mr. Hart was employed by Central Hudson Gas and Electric Company as an energy control supervisor for 22 years until his retirement in 1991.
Born in Scranton, Pa. on April 14, 1928, to John and Margaret Hart. Mr. Hart served in Korea in the U.S. Army in 1946 to 1948 and graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1946 and the University of Scranton in 1952. Mr. Hart belonged to the American Legion John Livingstone Post #1466.
On May 14, 1955, he married the former Alice T. Walsh at St. Mary’s Church in Dunmore, Pa., who survives him at home. Also surviving are the Harts’ four sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas G. Hart, Jr. of Hyde Park, N.Y., James Hart of Staasburg, N.Y., Jack and Marisa Hart of Garner, N.C. and Joseph and Paula Jo of New Fairfield, and daughter-in-law Linda Hart of Whitehall, N.Y. Additional survivors include his loving grandchildren, Bryan James of Red Hook, N.Y., Michelle and Karyn of Whitehall, N.Y., Lisa and Danny of Garner, N.C., Sean, Kelly and Theresa of New Fairfield and a great-grandson Shane of Red Hook, N.Y.
He was predeceased by a brother Robert Hart of Scranton, Pa.

Anna Lena Niemann Ritz

Anna Lena Niemann Ritz, age 97, went home peacefully to her Lord on Friday, July 26, 2002. She was born on March 2, 1905, in Ellington to the late Wilhelm and Rose (Stutz) Niemann and was the fourth of nine children.
A resident of Stamford for 80 years, she was the widow of Albert Ritz and a founding member of Zion Lutheran Church of Stamford.
She was educated in Ellington and was a homemaker and nurse, and worked for many years at The School Sisters of Notre Dame in Wilton. She loved to travel and felt blessed to have visited Israel, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Germany.
A person of deep faith, she was devoted to her family and her church and found her joy in both. She will be greatly missed by many who will remember her sense of humor, her intelligence and her gentle ways.
She is survived by her sons Robert R Ritz of Stamford and Clifford A. Ritz of California and daughter-in-law Patricia, her daughter Judith A. Malin and son-in-law William of Redding; her son-in-law Herbert A. Barth of Florida; 17 grandchildren and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Albert, she was predeceased by daughters Ann A. Ritz and Dorothy R Barth; son Albert W. Ritz; granddaughter Gail Eleanor Ritz and her eight brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at 11 a m. at Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Leukemia Society of America or to the charity of one’s choice.
