GIORDANO
James Thomas Giordano, age 57, was taken into eternal rest in Rockledge (Port Canaveral), Fla., on Monday, August 19, 2002. Born in Walter Reed Hospital in Washington , D.C., he was the son of James F. Giordano of Fairfield, and the late Frances Grace Giordano, and until recently had resided in Lancaster, Calif. Other survivors include his wife, Louella Giordano of Grass Valley, Calif.; his sisters, Joanne Baker and her husband, Edward, of Norfolk, Mass.; and Diane Mayo of Trumbull; a brother, Bryan Giordano of Middletown; his daughters, Louise Giordano of Salem, Ore., and Jessica Giordano of Grass Valley, Calif.; his stepdaughter, Loretta Hernandez and her husband, Lorenzo, of Lancaster, Calif.; his stepson, Garrett Mueller of Port Hadlock, Wash.; 11 grandchildren living on the West Coast; a nephew, Don Baker; and nieces, Kate Baker of Norfolk, Mass., and Erin Mayo of Trumbull. Tommy graduated from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield, and from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Florida, with an FAA license in aircraft mainframe. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving on the Aircraft Carrier, Coral Sea. He was employed by Rockwell Industries (now Boeing) as a quality control inspector on the Space Shuttle Program, having worked on all of the space shuttles. A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schepens Eye Research Institute, 20 Staniford Street, Boston, MA 02114, Attention: Development Office. CHARTIER
R. Donald Chartier, age 68, beloved husband of Helma Bremser Chartier of Monroe, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Griffin Hospital, Derby, following a sudden illness. Born in Holyoke, Mass., on November 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Roland Donald and Alice Favreau Chartier. In his youth, Mr. Chartier was active in Scouting, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and a 1958 graduate of Colgate University. He worked for 16 years as the founder and president of Bremser Technologies of Stratford. Previously, he was employed as sales director for Amax Inc. of Greenwich. Mr. Chartier was a Monroe resident for 26 years, previously of Windsor, and Sidney, N.Y. While in Windsor and Sidney, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an active Little League and basketball coach, and volunteered countless hours as a volunteer firefighter and ambulance corps member. Mr. Chartier formerly coached the cross country and track teams at the Loomis Chaffee School of Windsor. He was an avid marathon runner and member of the New Haven Rowing Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted sons, Donald A. Chartier of Illinois, Peter R. Chartier of California, and Eric B. Chartier and his wife, Nelly, of Monroe; and grandchildren, Adam and Amanda Chartier of Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting DIRECTLY at church will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike (Route 111), Monroe. NOGA
Irene Gyure Noga, age 93, formerly of Rakoczy Avenue, in Fairfield, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2003, in the Carolton Convalescent Home. She was the widow of Joseph L. Noga, Jr. and with him operated Noga Bros. Florist for 55 years in the West End of Bridgeport. They were Charter Members of the Bridgeport Florists Association. Irene was born in Bridgeport on August 16, 1909, the daughter of Frank and Julia Gyure. Mrs. Noga is survived by three children, a daughter, Joan Marie Holley and her husband, William of Higganum, CT; Joseph L. Noga III and his wife, Louise of Greenville, NC and Robert F. Noga and his wife, Virginia of Fairfield. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Suzanne M. Miska and her husband, Edward of Fairfield, William A. Holley, III of West Hartford, Robert Noga of Harwichport, MA; Joseph L. Noga, IV and his wife, Ning of Rye, NY and Patrick J. Holley and his wife, Leigh of Washington , DC and three great grandsons, William A. Holley, IV of West Hartford, Eduard Miska of Fairfield and Alex Noga of Rye, NY. O'NEILL
Barbara Beardsley O'Neill, age 74, of Stratford, widow of Stratford Police Lieutenant Charles O"Neill, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Cordon and Hildur Johnson Beardsley and was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls Stratford Assembly 10, a member of the Eastern Star of Stratford and the Daughters of the Nile drill team. Survivors include her devoted cousin, Doris Huggins of Stratford; her godchild, Lynn Huggins of Shelton; a cousin, Paul Swanson of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 8, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Stratford with Rev. Thomas Walter, interim pastor, officiating. TREMALLO
James W. Tremallo Jr., age 78, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at St. Vincents Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport on June 9, 1924, he was the son of the late James W. Tremallo Sr. and Anna (Kistner) Tremallo, and was a Bridgeport resident all of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired electrician for IEBW Local 488 of Bridgeport. Survivors include his life long partner, Martha (Falango) Melito; one son, Wayne Tremallo and wife, Annette of Oxford; one daughter, Deborah Mantiglia and her husband, Joseph of Orange; three grandchildren, Katherine Metzger, Robert Metzger and Anthony Mantiglia. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, February 10, 2003, at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Theresas Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. CLARK
Adele B. (nee Gaudet) Clark, age 74, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She now joins her beloved husband the late George L. Clark. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor, teacher, volunteer and community activist. Adele was raised in New York City, Nova Scotia and British Columbia. She was a resident of Stratford for more than 20 years. She was a graduate of Southwestern College and received her master"s degree from Paterson State College. She worked in the fashion industry in New York for many years, and was an associate professor and chairman at the University of Bridgeport. Most recently she was an adjunct professor at Gateway Community College in New Haven. Adele was a volunteer at the Mercy Learning Center, the Shurbert Theater in New Haven and the Downtown Cabaret Theater in Bridgeport. She was also involved in the elementary school reading program and numerous other organizations. She was a member of the NEW-CT3 Network of Entrepreneurial Women and helped women who were opening new businesses through SCORE and other associations. She is survived and remembered by her family: her son, Dr. Christopher Osgood, professor at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.; her daughter-in-law Eileen Osgood, LCSW; her grandson, Nicholas Osgood. She was lovingly cared for in her last illness by Roberta Hall and her team of caregivers. Adele also leaves many friends in Connecticut, Arizona, Texas , New York and Canada who will always cherish her love of life and the experience they shared with her. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Dennis and D"Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. Burial will be private. PETRAFESA
Rocco "Rocky" Petrafesa, of Eastern Street, New Haven, died Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of the late Ann Marie Ernandez Petrafesa; father of Anita Nichols and the late John Petrafesa; father-in-law of Millicent Carroll Petrafesa; brother of Maria Masotta, Rose Testa, Geraldine Vitolo, Lucille Pisacano, Angelo Petrafesa and the late Gira Staffa, Antoinette LaGuardia, Susan Panzo, Kate Willis, Charles and John Petrafesa; grandfather of John Petrafesa Jr. and Jennifer McLaughlin; and great-grandfather of three. Mr. Petrafesa was born in New Haven on February 22, 1917, a son of the late Pasquale and Virginia Salvati Petrafesa. Funeral will leave from the Iovanne Funeral Home Inc., 11 Wooster Place, Monday morning at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michaels Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. HAUX
Robert John Haux, age 89, of Vero Beach Fla., passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2003, at his residence, after a brief illness. He was born April 24, 1913, in Bridgeport, and moved to Vero Beach 13 years ago from Norwalk. He worked as a metallurgist for Bridgeport Brass Co. for more than 40 years. Mr. Haux was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in a chemical warfare unit. Surviving are his wife, Helen; one son, Fr. Robert M. Haux of LaGrange, Ga.; two stepsons, Charles Gilchrist and Kevin Gilchrist, both of Norwalk; two stepdaughters, Anne Freeman and Mary Jenkins, both of Vero Beach; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Bridgeport area at a later date to be announced.

Mary Edith Beard, age 77, loving and devoted wife of 52 years of Luther Beard, of Monroe, made her transition in to Gods open arms on Thursday, February 6, 2003, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Anna Buzas Kavasansky, age 92, formerly of Stratford, wife of the late Paul Kavasansky, died on Friday, February 7, 2003, at the Villiage At Mariners Point, East Haven. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., Mrs. Kavasansky was a Stratford town resident for more than 30 years. She had retired from the Bryant Electric Co., of Bridgeport, Anna was a longtime member of St. Emery;s Church, The Ladies Guild and the Senior Group. She is survived by her devoted son, Robert Kavasansky and his wife, Theresa of Shelton; a sister, Margaret Erickson of Beacon Falls; grandchildren, David and Jaclyn Kavasansky, both of Shelton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Buzas; and a sister, Helen Racz. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Frank Polk and Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 10 a.m. in St. Emery"s Church, Kings Highway, Fairfield.
