Harold Spearman "Sweet Running Bear, " 85, of Hamden, departed this life October 13, 2011.
Born in Ashville, NC, June 3, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Milwee Spearman.
Mr. Spearman was a U.S. Army veteran and prior to retiring was employed by John Corbett Press as a Truck Driver.
He is survived by a son, Harry Stanley (Johnnie) of West Haven; sisters, Lula Jones (Riley) of Washington D.C. and Hazel Harris of West Haven; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Ella and Frank Davis; a special friend, Elizabeth Pollard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by brothers, Edward, John and Nathan Spearman.
A celebration of Mr. Spearman's life and legacy will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 9:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Middletown.
Michael J. Lyles

Michael J. Lyles, 60, of New Haven, departed this life October 18, 2011.
Born in Greensboro, NC, April 20, 1951, he was the son of Josephine G. Lyles and the late Thomas J. Lyles, Sr.
He was an Air Force Vietnam era veteran.
He was predeceased by brothers, George A. Lyles and Thomas J. Lyles, Jr.
Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A private funeral service and burial will be held in Greensboro, NC.
Marie C. Corbett
1953 - 2012
Marie C. Corbett, 58, of Hamden, departed this life January 8, 2012.
Born in Farmville, NC, December 18, 1953, she was the daughter of John A. Cox and the late Lucy Cox.
Prior to retiring, Ms. Corbett was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as an Engineer. She was a member of Hamden AMF Bowling League.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, Michael Corbett; brothers, William Earl and Roderick Cox; sisters, Cheryl and Tracy Cox; grandchildren, Michael Tyler Corbett and Tyrus Stevenson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Calvin Cox and a sister, Jacqueline Daniels.
A celebration of Ms. Corbett's life and legacy will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Eloise Marie Goodson
1918 - 2011
Eloise Marie Goodson, 93, of New Haven, departed this life October 21, 2011. She was the widow of Horace Goodson, Sr.
Born in New Haven, CT, March 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Morgan.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Sargent Manufacturing as a Machine Operator.
She is survived by daughters, Nellie Monroe and Eloise Goodson; sons, Horace Goodson, Jr., Frederick Goodson and Frank Goodson; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by sons, Charlie and Martin Goodson; sisters, Ethel Simmons and Marie Morgan; and a grandchild, Faye Monroe.
A celebration of Mrs. Goodson's life and legacy will be held Friday, October 28, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Chapel New Testament Church, 220 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Mary L. Phillips, 57, of Hamden, departed this life December 22, 2011.
Born in Edgecombe County, NC, November 10, 1954, she was the daughter of Susie Phillips and the late James Phillips, Sr.
Ms. Phillips was employed at Francis Walsh Intermediate School as a Paraprofessional and was a member of Rehoboth Temple Church where she served as an Evangelist.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Elder James Phillips, Jr.; sisters, Pastor Bettie Phillips and Amy Phillips; nieces and nephews, Kim McDonald, Glenn Morrison, Jamie Joy Phillips, Malcolm Slater and Naydine Morrison; an aunt, Geneva Pittman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a sister, Debbie Phillips; maternal grandmother, Easter Downing; and paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Amy Phillips.
A celebration of Ms. Phillips' life will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Greater Mt. Carmel Church, 399 Goodrich Street, Hamden. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Cynthia Bronson

Cynthia Bronson, 58, of New Haven, departed this life October 23, 2011.
Born in Samson County, NC, October 22, 1953, she was the daughter of Elouise Pope.
Cynthia was most recently employed at Neurogen Corp. in Branford in the Custodial Services Dept.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, John Pope; a sister, Carolyn Billups (James) and a grandson, Richard Garnett Brown.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Teresa Bronson and a brother, James Bronson.

Ruth Zackery, 59, of New Haven, departed this life October 2, 2011. She was the wife of Larry D. Zackery.
Born in Raeford, NC, December 13, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Lillie Mae Newton Shields.
Mrs. Zackery was employed at Yale Medical Group as a Patient Account Associate. She was a member of Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Larry P. Zackery (Shanavia); brothers, Bishop Dozier C. Shields (Lena), Mack Shields, Leroy Shields (Barbara) and Tommie Shields (Sherry); a sister, Idell Shields; an adopted niece, Jaya Bellamy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Joe Shields; and sisters, Odessa Morton and Eva Shields Lealand.
A celebration of Mrs. Zackery's life and legacy will be held Friday, October 7, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. There will be no calling hours.

Christine Irving, 74, of New Haven, departed this life November 30, 2011. She was the widow of Tony Irving.
Born in Montgomery, AL, February 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Saul and Ethel Stovall.
She is survived by her son, Wendell Stovall; a sister, Annie Ruth Bailey; brothers, Saul Stovall, Jr. and Fred Stovall; grandchildren, Wendell Stovall, Jr. and Marquitta Stovall; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Irving's life and legacy will be held Monday, December 5, 2011, at 12:00 P.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 11:00-12:00. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Rev. Clifton C. Jones, Sr.
1939 - 2012
Rev. Clifton C. Jones, Sr., 72, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on May 18, 2012.
Born in Tar Heel, NC, December 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Norfolk and Maggie L. Jones.
He was the pastor and founder of Second New Light OFW Baptist Church for 33 years.
Rev. Jones leaves to cherish his loving memory, his son, Clifton Jones, Jr, ; daughters, Angela and Veronica Jones and Maritzka Stevenson (Elmer, Jr.); a brother, Nelson Jones (Rose); a sister, Dianne Avery; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Jones; and brothers, Norfolk Jr., Edward, James and Levern Jones.
A celebration of Rev. Jones' life and legacy will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Second New Light OFW Baptist Church, 25 Princeton St., Bridgeport.
Daniel L. Lathrop, Jr.
1924 - 2012
Daniel L. Lathrop, Jr., 87, of Hamden, departed this life February 11, 2012. He was the husband of Pauline Lathrop.
Born in West Haven, CT, July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Daniel L. Lathrop, Sr. and Ella Lathrop.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Lathrop was employed at Dwight Building Co. as a Labor Foreman. He was a WWII Army veteran and a lifelong member of the VFW.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Daniel L. Lathrop, III (Sylvia) and Michael Lathrop (Tami); a daughter, Paula Lathrop; sisters, Harriett Coleman and Dorothy Thomas; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by brothers, Robert and William Lathrop; and a sister, Jean Gladding.
