MARY ANN (PETERSON) McCORMICK

Mrs. McCormick, 78, died Jan. 23, 2001, at a local care center. She was a retired legal secretary, homemaker and mother.

Mrs. McCormick was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Minneapolis, to Paul Donald and Lillian Peterson, who are deceased. She was married Nov. 22, 1968, to Jack M. McCormick.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Carolyn Mills, of Boulder and Jo Ann Horneker, of Jonesboro, Ark.; two stepsons, Devon, of New York City and Drew, of San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Paul J. "Bill" Peterson, of Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Christina Hammerstein, of Durham, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Lum.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th Street, Boulder. Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th Street, Boulder, (303) 442-3840, is handling arrangements.

VIRGINIA M. SALAZAR

Mrs. Salazar, 73, died Feb. 13, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a nurse's aide at a nursing home.

Mrs. Salazar was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Cerro, N.M., to Lucresio and Felomena Salazar, who are deceased. She was married to Leo Salazar, who is deceased.

She is survived by two sons, William Archuleta and Nestor Salazar; five daughters, Clara Archuleta, Wilma Mondragon, Rhoda Perea, Judy Salazar and Denise Taylor; three brothers, Henry Vigil, Joe Perea and Jose Perea; five sisters, Betty Vigil, Angela Vigil, Laura Rael, Teresa Segura and Della Gomez; 31 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Archuleta and Mark Salazar; and two daughters, Martha Vigil and Carol Tijenna.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m today with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber Street, 632-7608. A Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

EARL R. PITCHER

Mr. Pitcher, 79, died Feb. 12, 2001, at a local hospital. He retired from maintenance at Rampart High School in Academy District 20 in Colorado Springs. He served in the Navy from 1941 to 1946 in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres.

Mr. Pitcher was born March 7, 1921, in Troy, N.Y., to Lloyd and Clara (Perry) Pitcher, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 14, 1950, to Claire J. Sherman.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Peter and Paul, both of Perryville, R.I.; a daughter, Jane P. Jones of Colorado Springs; a brother, Francis, of Narragansett, R.I.; three sisters, Elaine Carpenter, of Wakefield, R.I., and Isabelle Cuppels and Marjorie Webb, both of Florida; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

A private inurnment will be at a later date. Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597, is handling arrangements.

BERYL PROUDFIT

Mrs. Proudfit, 87, died Feb. 12, 2001, at a local care center. She was a retired bookkeeper, co-owner of Proudfit Medical Laboratory in Denver for 21 years and a homemaker.

Mrs. Proudfit was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Magnet, Neb., to George N. and Lue S. (Furness) Jorgensen, who are deceased. She was married Feb. 1, 1936, to William Sayre Proudfit, who is deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Shannon Pettis; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Jorgensen; and three sisters, Vera Swallow, Ona Anderson and Ruth Jorgensen.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. A private interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

MARY M. (CAMPBELL) COPE

Mrs. Cope, 94, died Feb. 7, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She retired as an accountant from Ent Air Force Base after 22 years.

Mrs. Cope was born May 13, 1906, in Colorado Springs to William S. and Cora (Taylor) Campbell, who are deceased. She was married March 14, 1970, to Jesse L. Cope, who is deceased.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Stanley L.; two daughters-in-law, Kay and Helen; a nephew and his wife, John E. and Patricia Crawford; a niece, La Verne Queen; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Curtis; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Cope Hustead; a brother, William Campbell; a sister, Jeannette Bates; and a nephew, Bob Crawford.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. Services will be at noon Friday at Swan Law Cascade Chapel. Burial will be at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.

RETIRED SGT. 1ST CLASS LEONARD GILCHRIST

Sgt. 1st Class Gilchrist, 62, died Feb. 11, 2001, at his home in Colorado Springs. He retired from the Army after 21 years of service.

Sgt. 1st Class Gilchrist was born March 6, 1938, in Philadelphia to Herman Gilchrist and Essie Dennis, who are deceased. He was married Aug. 2, 1958, to Geneva Owens.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Lester Robinson; four daughters, Brenda Robinson, Marsha "Marsi" Loving, Phyllis Gilchrist and Anjanette Gilchrist; a brother, Earl; a sister, Juanita Webb; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Sonny.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. After the service, a reception will be at Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

FRANCES MOLITOR EARNEST

Mrs. Earnest, 81, died Feb. 12, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was an artist.

Mrs. Earnest was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Ford County, Kan., to Charles Cornelius and Lenora Alice (Baier) Molitor, who are deceased. She was married June 1, 1942, to Gail Alan Earnest, who is deceased.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn E. White, of Las Vegas and Elaine M. Doudna, of Colorado Springs; a brother, Edwin Molitor, of Dodge City, Kan.; a sister, Irma Beth Stewart, of Hattiesburg, Miss; a grandson, Matthew Doudna, of Colorado Springs; and three granddaughters, Noel White, Bethany White and Amanda White, all of Las Vegas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Swain Funeral Home Chapel, 1901 6th Ave., Dodge City. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Offerle, Kan. Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. U.S. Highway 85/87, Fountain, 390-4906, is handling local arrangements.

IDA MAE JONES

Mrs. Jones, 98, died Feb. 12, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a teacher early in life and was formerly employed with Fashion Bar in Grand Junction.

Mrs. Jones was born March 26, 1902, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, to Charles and Ellen (Foster) Werling, who are deceased. She was married July 23, 1928, to Dow Jones, who is deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Zaebst; a sister, Bessie Baird; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be at Winslow Court in Colorado Springs. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Grand Junction. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

RAYMOND TONEY

Mr. Toney, 68, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Feb. 7, 2001, in Mesa, Ariz. He was retired. He served in the Air Force from March 20, 1953 to March 19, 1957.

Mr. Toney was born Feb. 5, 1933, in Stilwell, Okla., to Newt and Addie Toney, who are deceased.

He is survived by a sister, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland and William "Bill"; and a sister, Margaret "Essie" Glass.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Meldrum, Mesa, (480) 834-9255, is handling arrangements.

GEORGE F. KERSTEIN

Mr. Kerstein, 89, died Feb. 6, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a carpet layer.

Mr. Kerstein was born May 7, 1911, in Chicago to Fred and Bertha (Leining) Kerstein, who are deceased. He was married April 30, 1944, to Erna Tetlow.

He is survived by his wife; a son, George A.; a daughter, Joyce Donicht; a sister, Louise Albers; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, with a reception to follow, at Black Forest Lutheran Church, 12455 Black Forest Road, Black Forest. Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, 590-8922, is handling arrangements.

ROBERT O. SHACKELFORD

Mr. Shackelford, 71, died Feb. 11, 2001, at a local care center. He was a retired county appraiser.

Mr. Shackelford was born March 25, 1929, in Pueblo, to Alfred O. and Minnie B. (Turpin) Shackelford, who are deceased.

He is survived by a brother, Clifford E.; a sister, Eva Jean Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4210 Austin Bluffs Parkway. Inurnment will be private. Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597, is handling arrangements.

LUTHER IVAN WILSON

Mr. Wilson, 57, died Feb. 8, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a civil service environmental medical supervisor.

Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Mound City, Ill., to Ernest and Mary (Summers) Wilson, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 25, 1984, to Somsri Nirundorn.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Stoney, Lucky, Sonny, Alfie and Jonny; a daughter, Weeada Abbinante; two sisters, Beulah Jones and Elsie Grays; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Jr. and Dean.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peterson Air Force Base Chapel, 455 Vincent St., Building 1410. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Services, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.
