RYAN ELLIOTT NELSON
Ryan Elliott Nelson passed away on April 3, 2002, after a long illness which he handled with dignity and strength.
A memorial service for Ryan will be held at Pulpit Rock Church on Saturday, April 6, 2002, at 10:00 A.M. Ryan was born on September 27, 1981, in Colorado Springs.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Rob and Ruth Ann Nelson of Colorado Springs, his sister, Rebecca Andralyn Nelson, grandmothers Lila E. Nelson and Eleanor Rowley, two uncles, two aunts, and two cousins. Ryan was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school and attended supplemental classes at Grace Academy and HESP.
He graduated from high school in 2000. Ryan is listed in the 1999/2000 Who's Who Among American High School Students. Ryan earned honorable mentions in the Betty S. Field Memorial Writing Contests in 1998 and 1999. He was the Photo Editor of his high school year book.
Ryan was an outstanding actor and served as the lead actor in three high school plays. He was a full time student studying drama at Pikes Peak Community College when his illness began.
Ryan attended Pulpit Rock Church. Ryan treasured attending church and had a love and great knowledge of God's Word. Ryan went to Mexico on a missions trip in 1998. Ryan was a long time volunteer of the Pikes Peak Library District and was a member of the PPLD Youth Advisory Council.

Jerry E. Jaramillo, 52, of Colorado Springs. Survived by his mother Aggie Jaramillo; brother of Rudy Medina, Paul Jaramillo and Roberta Murphy. JASON ALLEN GORDON
Jason Allen Gordon, 19, passed away April 1, 2002, with his friend Star Secunda Gazer in an automobile accident in Oklahoma. Jason was born on July 4, 1982 in Denver, CO.
Jason is survived by his mother, Suzanne Gordon (James Storm, Jr.) of Colorado Springs, CO, and his father, James R. Gordon (Vanda Gordon) of Long Beach, MS, and his sister, Shanna Gordon and nephew, Evan Gordon. Grandmother, Charlet Cartwright, Colorado Springs, CO. Grandfather, David Gordon of Granite City, IL and grandmother, Dorothy Gordon of St. Louis, MO. Four aunts, four uncles and several cousins.
Jason lived most of his life in Colorado Springs, CO. He attended Patrick Henry Elementary, Emerson Junior High and Mitchell High Schools, all of Colorado Springs, CO.
Jason enjoyed fishing and camping, and he loved cooking. He had an incredible sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone's face. He was wonderful with babies and animals and had an ability to lift people's spirits and make them feel good.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 908 Yuma Street in Colorado Springs, CO at 10:00 am. Friends and family of both Jason and Star are welcome to attend.
KEVIN ALLEN O'BRIEN
Kevin Allen O'Brien was born February 24, 1962 to Lynda Queen & Johh O'Brien in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away Sunday, March 31, 2002 in a motorcycle accident/
Kevin was a Tile Setter and owner of "A Tile Guy."
Kevin is survived by his wife Brenda, daughters Teresa and Sarah, son Kenny, mother Lynda Queen, sisters Terri and Sherri, and numerous family and friends. Kevin was preceded in death by his father John O'Brien.
Kevin was a loyal and giving husband, father, son, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved riding his Harley, the Broncos, boating and camping.
He will be remembered by many and sorely missed.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held 10 AM Monday, April 8, 2002 at Central Christian Church, 2002 W. Pikes Peak.

LORETTA FERN SHORT
Loretta Fern Short died suddenly April 2, 2002 at her home. Born in Colorado Springs January 22, 1923, to Edward L. and Etta Warden, she graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1941. She married Charles E. Short on November 30, 1941.
She worked in various schools for the District 11 Food Service from 1970 to 1982 and then worked for Van Briggle Pottery until the late 1990's.
Loretta is survived by her husband; two daughters, Diane Hill of Charlotte, NC and Jill Short of Colorado Springs; three sons, Richard of Chantilly, VA, Randy and Scott of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Village 7 Presbyterian Church.

PATRICIA BRADTKE
Patricia Bradtke, a 35 year resident of Colorado Springs, passed away Friday at a local hospice. She was born in in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 1, 1924 to Fred and Helen (Forbes) Steele, who are deceased. She was married to Edward Bradtke in February, 1968. She was predeceased by her husband and son David. Pat and Ed owned a pharmacy in Widefield for several years. She is survived by a step-daughter, Nancy Bowers, a step-son, Harold Bradtke, a sister-in-law, Joyce Steele, two nephews, Michael Steele abd B.J. Steele and a niece, Tracy Willie, all of Denver. She is also survived by close friends Ray and Hoyce Howells. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In accordance with Pat's wishes, no services will be held.
JAMES A. BOREN
James A. Boren died at this home in Colorado Springs, April 5, 2002 at the age of 67 after a lengthy illness. He was born August 23, 1934 in Crosbyton, Texas to James Henry Boren and Thelma (Alston) Boren. His mother survives.
He served 4 years in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958 and had attained the rank of sergeant when he was honorably discharged.
He was married to Toni Thompson, June 12, 1975. He is survived by his wife and 3 children, sons Chris Boren of Colorado Springs, Michael Boren of Denver, and daughter Kimberly Sanders of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by five beautiful granddaughters, Abigail, Kasi, Kaylee, Korie and Krystal.
Also surviving is his stepmother, Cleo Boren of Clovis, NM, half-sister, Anita Hurn of Clovis, NM, and half-sister Susie Dawson, of Clovis, NM.
He and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1983, where he and his father-in-law, Wayne Thompson, started their own business, Car-Go Automotive Equipment. His son Chris has operated the company since their retirements.
He was an avid bowler his entire life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After moving to Colorado, he started playing golf, which he especially enjoyed. His devoted companion, his springer spaniel dog named Ten Pin, gave him so much love, comfort and companionship during his illness.
He had a wonderful offbeat sense of humor and had a great spirit. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, but his family will take comfort knowing he is no longer suffering.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association, Colorado Affiliate, 2480 W. 26th Ave., Suite 120B, Denver, Colorado 80211.
Funeral Services at Blunt Mortuary, Monday, April 8th at 10:00 AM. Interment at Fairview Cemetery following services.
CLYDE KIYOSHI KAWAMATA
Clyde Kiyoshi Kawamata 56, passed away April 4, 2002 at Penrose Main Hospital. He was employed with Western Forge for many years. Mr. Kawamata was born July 9, 1945 in Lanai City, Hawaii to the union of Yoshio and Harriet Kawamata who are deceased. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Tasha Kawamata, stepson Jerry Cordova, ex-wife Carmen Kawamata, all of Colorado Springs, brother Eugene (Phyllis) Kawamata of Honolulu, Hawaii, sisters, Karen Niki of Honolulu, Hawaii, Elaine Bishop of Mesa Arizona, Jean Russo of Seoul South Korea, two nieces, three nephews and a host of numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday April, 10, 2002 at Angelus Funeral Directors, 2535 Airport Rd. Colorado Springs, CO at 2:00 p.m. At Mr. Kawamata's request cremation will take place after the funeral service.
LT COL. RET. RONALD EDWARD PAWLAK
Ronald Edward Pawlak Lt. Col. Retired Born January 5, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Eugenia Pawlak, deceased. Survived by wife Irene, daughter Elaine and granddaughter, Rose. He Served in the Philippines, Japan, Indiana, OCS in Texas, Oklahoma, California, France, Michigan, Greenland, England and Colorado. A 35 year resident of Colorado Springs. He had been a tower operator in BMEWS and system analyst. He received the Legion of Merit upon retirement. He was a sertoman for 25 years.
