TONY MARQUEZ

Tony Marquez, 84, passed away on April 2, 2002 at a Colorado Springs hospital.

He was born on October 10, 1917 in Vermejo Park, New Mexico to Cleofes and Clara (Trujillo) Marquez, who are deceased.

Tony was married on November 29, 1942 to Ruby Vallejos, who is surviving.

He was a retired coal miner and retired from Western Forge.

Tony is survived by his wife; a daughter, Judy Marquez of Fork, Washington; a brother, William Marquez of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Ophelia Fernandez of Trinidad, Colorado; a niece, Mary Jane (husband, Ray) Rhodes of Kingwood, Texas; great-nephews, Jonathan and Christopher; sisters-in-law, Ophelia Sanchez of Trinidad, Colorado and Dolores Vallejos of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2002 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses, with a Rosary Service to follow at 7:00 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO., 80909.

Entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.

EVELENE MAE FORKUM

Evelene Mae Forkum, 92, died April 2, 2002 at Pikes Peak Hospice.

She was born January 4, 1910 in Maunee, IL., to Luther and Nellie Mae Creek. She was married June 16, 1928 in West Frankfort, IL., to Walter W. Forkum, who is deceased.

She is survived by her daughter D'Etta Boston (husband Benny), three grandchildren: Daniel W. Boston, Bruce D. Boston and Elaine Foletto, five great-grandchildren: Nick, Kaitlyn, Olivia and Angela Foletto and Burgundi Boston. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Thursday April 4th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Swan Law Mortuary.

Funeral services will be April 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Swan Law Mortuary, with private entombment at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions to Silver Key Senior Services, 2250 Bott Ave, Colorado Springs, CO. 80904.

HELEN M. ALCORN

Bateman Funeral Home of Goodland, KS., announces the death of former Goodland resident Helen M. Alcorn, age 84. Helen was currently living in Colorado Springs, CO. Helen died at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs on Friday March 29, 2002.

She was born on October 10, 1917 in rural Yuma County, CO., the daughter of Edward and Dena (Jackson) Boden. Helen grew up and attended school in Idalia. In 1939, on October 1st, she married Donald I. Alcorn in the church at Idalia. She and Don lived in Yuma County and then moved to Solomon in 1946 and came to Goodland in August of 1958. After Don's death she then moved to Colorado Springs in 1990. She worked at different jobs around town where she would interact with people. She was employed at Steiner's Drive Inn, the lunch counter at the Bowling Alley, Dr. Burcham's dental office, and had child care in her home for approximately 30 years and up until the time of her death she was still doing baby-sitting.

When not busy with other activities she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include one son Jim Alcorn (Avis) of Goodland, one daughter Linda (Ron) Asmussen of Colorado Springs, CO., and one step-daughter Donna (Bill) Happ Temecula, CA., three granddaughters Jamie Baker (Charlie) and Calli (Doug) McDaniel both of Goodland and Nikki (Michael) Edmiston of Colorado Springs and one great-granddaughter Ellee McDaniel of Goodland.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Goodland. Burial followed in the Goodland Cemetery. Pastor Carol Moore-Ramey officiated the services.

Friends paid their respects at Bateman Funeral Home Monday, April 1, 2002 and at the church before services on Tuesday.

VERETA EILEEN (JAMISON) TUTTLE

Vereta Eileen (Jamison) Tuttle was born on October 17, 1927 to Kenneth P. and Viola M. (Evans) Jamison in Quinter, Kansas.

She married in 1951 and had six children; Glenna, Vonna, Bruce, JoEva, Todd and Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Conner Nicholas. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1985 and resided there until her passing. She was an employee of El Paso County for 13 years.

MAXINE RYAN

Maxine Ryan, wife of Thomas J.Ryan, deceased, was called home by Our Lord on Easter Sunday at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center.

She is survived by her brother, Justy Sloniger of Colorado Springs, sons Michael and

Patrick Ryan of Arvada, daughters Judy Schneck of Supply, NC., Janet Steinke of Phoenix, AZ., and Patty Jo Ryan of Colorado Springs. She was a loving Grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 4, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mount Olivet Cemetery/Mortuary 12801 West 44th Ave., Wheatridge, CO.

HELEN M. ALCORN

Born Oct. 9, 1917. Died March 29, 2002.

Homemaker, a 12-year Colorado Springs resident. Survived by a son, Jim; a daughter, Linda Asmussen; and a stepdaughter, Donna Happ. Bateman Funeral Home.

VERNON E. ANDERSON

Born June 23, 1922. Died March 29, 2002.

Electrician/Coast Guard, a 19-year Colorado Springs resident. Survived by a daughter, Gretchen Stephani. Mountain View Mortuary.

CURTIS L. BELL

Born Feb. 12, 1913. Died March 30, 2002.

Accountant, a former Colorado Springs resident. Survived by two sons, Richard T. Bell and David L. Stallings; and a daughter, Carol S. Willett. WILLIAM P. "BILL" FARVE

Born Nov. 13, 1957. Died March 27, 2002.

SHIRLEY A. MULLIS

Born April 26, 1938. Died April 2, 2002.

Homemaker, a 32-year Colorado Springs resident. Survived by her husband, Lawrence Mullis; and two sons, Lawrence III and Robert. Graveside service, 2 p.m., Friday, Evergreen Cemetery. Evergreen Funeral Home.

ALBERT WILLIAM "AL" SUBACH

Albert William "AL" Subach, 71, died, peacefully at home with his family after a battle with cancer, on April 2, 2002 in Colorado Springs.

He was born April 16, 1930 in Frackville, PA to Joseph & Kathryn (Barstaitis) Subach. He married Sherry Eleanor (Wright) April 26, 1957, she does survive. He is also survived by daughters, Brenda Hammer and Jeannine [Troy] Vanderhoff; a son Allen [Dawn Anderson] Subach; sisters, Ginnie [Jimmy] Lloyd and Ellie Kendall, brother in law, Jim Wright; 5 grandchildren, Kassandra Hammer, Caroline Hammer, Jennie Anderson, Lauren Anderson and Zachery Anderson, several nieces and nephews and many military and civilian friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny and a sister, Violet Medvid. Mr. Subach is a retired Sr. MSGT from the Air Force after having almost 25 years of service.

He was a Flight Engineer and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, having earned several awards and medals including the Air Force Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medals with the second and third Oak Leaf Clusters and the Mertorius Service Medal. Al moved his family to Colorado Springs in 1970 to finish out his military tour and retired here in 1973, at which time he started, owned and operated a local appliance repair company, "Al's Fix It".

A private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Key Sr. Services, 2250 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80904 or the Disabled American Veterans, 2517 E. St. Vrain, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

JOHN KAIN FOGG

John Kain Fogg, USNR (Ret.), was born in Ocean City, NJ, August 17, 1923 and died April 2, 2002 in Colorado Springs after a battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Valerie; sons, John and Thomas; daughter, Bobbi Brown; step-daughters, Joanna Love and Tracey Richardson; seven grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Toal and numerous nieces and nephews.

During WWII John's time in the Navy included outpost duty in the Aleutian Islands to report weather conditions and ship & aircraft movements. He attended UCLA where he obtained a BA degree and received his commission through NROTC.

After the war he attended M.I.T. where he obtained a BS and an MS degree, both in Meteorology. He was teaching and working on his doctorate when he accepted the job of a lifetime - Chief Meteorologist for General Chennault's Airline in China.

There he became involved in the Chinese Civil War, Korean War, the French IndoChina War and CIA activities during the Cold War. He was Chief Meteorologist where he developed an excellent weather service for Civil Air Transport.

Returning to the U.S. in 1955 he continued his meteorology forecasting, receiving numerous commendations from the USAF and civilian airlines. He taught meteorology as an Honorarium at UCCS for 17 years; he lectured at local schools and organizations. John served out community as president of his homeowners association and he enjoyed delivering "Meals On Wheels" for Silver Key over the past four years.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church of All Souls on Monday, April 8th at 11:00 am at 730 N. Tejon, Colorado Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., #600, Colo. Spgs., CO 80903 or to the Southern Colorado Aids Project (SCAP), 1301 S. 8th St., Colo. Spgs., CO 80906 .
