Joe Richard 'Dick' Lindsey, 76
A 10-year Bailey resident, Joe Richard Lindsey, died Sept. 28, 2004, in Conifer. There was cremation.
Dick was born July 11, 1928 in Herford, Texas. He served both in the U.S. Marine Corps and then the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1953. He was a service manager for 25 years for North American Philips Company. In 1958, he married Joanne Louise McCarthy in Raton, N.M.
He is survived by his wife; children Kathleen (Bill); Janice (Chuck), Tracie (Harry), John (Patti) and David (Tonia); nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A celebration of his life will be held at the family home from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 16.

Gloria Faye Reed, 76
A 12-year Conifer resident, Gloria Faye Reed, died Sept. 28, 2004, at Swedish Hospital in Englewood. A funeral service and burial were held Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Gloria was born July 30, 1928, in Fulton, Ill. In 1950, she married Rex Allen Reed in Raton, N.M. They moved to Colorado in 1953. She worked as a secretary at Denver Research Institute. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and an avid knitter, and belonged to the Hummel Collectors Club.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Amy (Van) Russell of Wyoming and Shelley Reed of Denver; a son, Jonathan (Tama) Reed of Roxborough Village; and brothers Bruce (Ruth) Wiersema and Warren Wiersema, both of Fulton, Ill. There are five grandchildren.

Carol Ruth Holste, 72
A 27-year Evergreen resident, Carol Ruth Holste, died Sept. 21, 2004 at Life Care Center of Evergreen. A funeral service was held Sept. 26 at Evergreen Lutheran Church. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Carol was born Sept. 18, 1932 in Evanston, Ill. to the late Theodore and Hildegarde Lams. On Sept. 17, 1955, she married Floyd Richard Holste in Mount Prospect, Ill. She attended Valparaiso University and Concordia Teachers College, and taught second and third grades at St. Paul Lutheran School in Mount Prospect. Upon moving to Evergreen in 1977, she became the office manager for All Star Gas for 26 years.
She was an active member at Evergreen Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, served as a lay minister, and was involved in numerous other activities.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: Dean and Tami Holste and Diane and Jeff Greenman, both of Illinois; Donna and Doug Phelps of Littleton, and Dale and Nancy Holste of Idaho. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Henry Karlsson, 72
Robert Henry Karlsson of Golden died on Sept. 19, 2004, at his home after a long illness. He was born July 29, 1932 to Henrik and Sigrid Karlson in Jamestown, N.Y. He married Ruth Doris Johnson in 1952, just before entering into the armed services. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. In 1956, he enrolled at the Colorado School in Mines where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1960, with a degree in metallurgy. He was employed as a nuclear scientist at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant from 1963 until his retirement in 1993.
In 1968, he moved his young family to Mount Vernon Country Club where he resided until his death. He was very active in the club serving on several boards and chairing numerous committees. He is survived by son Paul of Frederick; daughter Inga McCormick of Arvada; and three grandchildren. There will be no services, and his ashes will be scattered at the family property in Grand County. Ralph Stanley Wick, 75
Ralph Stanley Wick of Evergreen, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn. died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004. He was born in Duluth, Minn. on Nov. 4, 1928. He married Lucille Muriel Wick in 1949. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church.
Ralph was a clothing sales representative to many customers, and after he retired, he was caretaker for the Lake Point Center and Meadowview Condominiums.
Survivors include daughter Kim Wick Benedict (Richard) of Idaho Springs; brothers Richard of Oklahoma City, Okla. and David Wick of Duluth; sisters Beverly Halvorson of Belleview, Wash. and Maren LaFortune of St. Paul, Minn.; and grandsons Andrew and Matthew Riley of Golden.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 North Turkey Creek Road. A gathering will be held after the service at Meadowview Condominiums in the fourth floor library, 31270 John Wallace Road in Evergreen.

Robert T. Esdale, 70
Robert Esdale, formerly of Evergreen, died Oct. 2, 2004, at his home in Millerstown, Penn.
He was retired from the Jefferson County School District. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy R. Esdale; his mother, Dorothy R. Esdale of New Jersey; daughters Lynn Varner and Nancy Monk, both of Pennsylvania, and Robin Price of Colorado; sister Jane Black of New Jersey; eight grandchiildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by the David Myers Funeral Home in Newport, Penn.
Clyde H. Prichett, 83
Longtime Aspen Park resident, Clyde H. Prichett, 83, died Nov. 5. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel, his children, Marie Hitt of Orlando, Fla., Melody Jenny of Lakewood, James of Littleton, Hannah Price of Littleton and Ellen Brown of Conifer.
Clyde was the grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 12, great-great-grandfather of 1, and beloved uncle to many. They all loved him dearly and will miss him tremendously. Along with his family he leaves behind a world of friends. Melody, James, Hannah and Ellen are all graduates of Evergreen High School. Clyde will be remembered for his stories, jokes and generosity to friends and neighbors.
The Prichetts moved to Aspen Park in 1961 after spending 20 years living across the country while serving in the U.S. Army. Their one-bedroom house was built by hand and all the children slept in the living room until additions were built. One of the last remaining original families in the Aspen Park and Conifer areas, the Prichetts have seen many changes over the years. During a conversation this past summer, Clyde reminisced about some of the things that have changed. The eight-party phone line where all "838" customers were long distance from everyone. He remembered the little stone store located where the current Safeway is located; on Sunday morning you would drive up for your weekly newspaper. He remembered when only a few cars would travel down Highway 285 and if a car was heard coming up your street you knew you had company coming. "In those days, you knew everyone, the car they drove, and where they lived."
Prichett helped build the current Aspen Park Community Building and held many various board positions with the Aspen Park Association.
He served his country as a U.S. Army sergeant, infantryman, in the service company of the 157 Infantry of the 45th Division under Lt. Col. Felix Sparks of Denver who later became General Sparks and then Supreme Court Justice Sparks. The 157th infantry or "Thunderbirds" served in France and Italy and participated in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, April 30, 1945. On April 29, 2003, he participated in an anniversary commemoration of the Liberation of Dachau held at the Congregational Hebrew Educational Alliance in Denver. Concentration camp survivors were paired up with liberators to "never forget." He was a humble man, but proud to be part of this program and to serve his country.
After retiring from the Army he worked for the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office for 30 years, retiring in 1991 as a division major. In the early years the sheriffs office didnt have the resources to patrol the mountain areas so often times dispatchers would call Deputy Sheriff Prichett at home and have him investigate complaints that had come in to the station. Some of those calls include suspicious activities, dead bodies, and even pesky bears. Many times Prichett would work hand-in-hand with Rudy Long of Rudy Long Ambulance Service and with Ken Raney, former county coroner.
His service to the community didnt stop with retirement. He was always available to chop down a tree, spray for pine beetles, trap a skunk, or just to have that special cup of coffee. During his service, one Aspen Park neighbor, Larry Neevel, commented, "He would always plow me out in a storm. Sometimes I wasnt aware he was out there but I always knew who did it."
Funeral services were held on Veterans Day, very fitting for a man who dedicated his life to serving his country and county. The funeral procession consisted of hundreds of cars, including those of every police jurisdiction in the city and some from around the state. The Jefferson County motorcycle unit led him to his final resting place at Crown Hill Cemetery, where a 21-gun salute was heard by all. A member of the "Greatest Generation," his family hopes to continue telling his stories of the war and his life and hope that generations to come will remember a place and time that will soon be gone forever.
Willard K. Cordill, 80
Willard K. Cordill, formerly of Evergreen and Denver, died Oct. 17, 2004, at his home in Carbondale.
Cordill was born in Eckley, to Earl and Myrtle Cordill. He graduated from Eckley High School. In 1950, he married Virginia Callicotte Cordill who survives him.
He retired from the Public Service Co. of Colorado after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church and a member of Garden Home Grange for 60 years. His special interests included woodworking, his family and friends.
Cordill is survived by his wife, Virginia; son Woody Cordill; daughters Judy (Rober) Kopulos, Karen Pakiser, Anne (Paul) Harrington, and Gini (Tim) Brown; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Parley and Lyle Cordill and son-in-law Donald Pakiser.
A memorial service was held Oct. 23, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, with burial at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
Guy Raymond Clark, 80
Guy Raymond Clark, a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, died Nov. 4, 2004 of complications of hip surgery at a care center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born in Gardner, Mass., son of Louise E. and Phillip S. Clark, he was raised by his paternal grandparents, Nellie and William F. Clark of Antrim, N.H., where he excelled in high school academics, basketball, skiing, swimming, and photography. Scouting was also high on his list of early accomplishments, rising to Life Scout and Assistant Scout Master of Troop 2 Antrim.
Clark entered the University of New Hampshire as an Engineering student in 1942, but his education was interrupted by World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, requested and was selected for pilot training. After completing U.S. Army Air Corps flight training at Stamford, Perrin Field, and Foster Field, Texas, he was assigned in April of 1945 to 82nd Fighter Squadron 78th Fighter Group in Duxford, England where he flew the P-51D Mustang. By January 1946, he was reassigned to 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group in Gieblestadt, Germany. Here, Clark was one of the first pilots to fly the first American tactical jet fighter the P-80. After separation from active duty in 1947, Clark remained in the U.S. Air Force Reserves rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel, retiring in 1970.
He married Corinne Gilmore Batchelder of Antrim in 1953. They moved to Englewood in 1955, and later moved to Evergreen. They had three daughters, Susan, Kerry, and Jody. He completed his career as a mechanical engineer and then joined the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office as a special deputy. Clark was active in the Evergreen Rodeo Association, Jefferson County Sheriffs Posse and Evergreen 4-H Saddle Tramps.
In 1993, he moved to the Aero Country Airport in McKinney, Texas, where he was building two aircraft, a Sonoray monoplane and a Kobe ultra light. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the National Rifle Association and the Masonic Harmony Lodge No. 38 of Hillsborough, N.H. He was multi-talented as a welder, plumber, electrician, and never throwing anything out because it could be fixed or used. He built his own home in the mountains, his own saddle and he rebuilt automobile engines. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He never lost his love of flying.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne L. Clark on Jan. 19, 1972, and sister, Pat L. Waite (Clark) on June 20, 2004.
Survivors include his children, Susan Polding and husband Bruce of New Castle, Penn., Kerry Carr and husband, Tom of Arlington, Jody Artymovich and husband of Chuck of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren, Heather, Sara, Brooke, and Brittany Polding of New Castle, Penn., Nick and Alex Artymovich of Aledo; 10 great grandchildren in New Castle, Penn.; nephew, Scott Waite of Burlington, Vt.

Gregg Desotell, 43
Gregg "Dei" Desotell, formerly of Green Bay, Wis., and later of Colorado, died Nov. 5, 2004, after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 8, 1961, in Green Bay to Ronald and Helen (Barrett) Desotell. Desotell attended St. John the Evangelist grade school and graduated from Premontre High School in 1979. He received his bachelors degree from UW-Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wis. After college graduation, he moved to Colorado where he had been living for the past 20 years. Desotell had been employed as an accountant in the financial industry and most recently had been working as a consultant for PeopleSoft.
He is survived by his 8-year-old son, Brendan Gregory Desotell, the joy of his life, and Brendans mother, Marie Desotell of Evergreen. Other survivors include his parents, Ron and Helen Desotell of Green Bay; three brothers and their spouses, Ron and Nancy Desotell, of Green Bay; Jeff Desotell and Kim Greco, of Brookfield, Wis.; Tim and Kim Desotell, Green Bay; one sister, Mary Ellen Reed, De Pere, Wis.; his nephews and nieces, Patrick, Pamela, Scott, Nicholas, Katie, Barrett and Molly Desotell, Breanna and Seth Reed; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clem and Mary Barrett; his paternal grandparents, Oliver and Florence Desotell; and an infant brother, Patrick.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 9 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay with The Rev. Conrad Kratz O. Praem officiating. An additional memorial service will be planned for the future in Colorado. His family wishes to express their gratitude to his friends and also his co-workers at PeopleSoft in Colorado for their help and support during his battle with cancer.
In memory of Desotell as a devoted father, a memorial fund has been established to benefit Brendans education.
Elizabeth Alice Lowe
Former Evergreen resident, Betty Lowe, died Nov. 17, 2004, at the Julia Temple Center in Englewood.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W. 32nd Ave. in Golden. A private burial was held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Betty was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Mill Hall, Penn. She graduated from Kansas University with a degree in home economics, but spent most of her career teaching kindergarten in Jefferson County.
In 1941, she married Robert Lowe and 12 years later they moved to Evergreen, where they both taught school and raised their daughters. After their divorce, Betty became a world traveler, parasailing at 70, riding rickshaws in Taiwan and snorkeling in the Indian Ocean, to name a few of her adventures. When she wasnt traveling, she danced and danced and danced. She married again at 84, and kept on dancing.
Survivors include her husband Ray Campbell of Lakewood; daughters Sharon Soule of Vista, Calif., and Gaye Lowe-Kaplan of Wheat Ridge; sister Eleanor Adkins of Washington, D.C.; brother Bill Hattwick of San Lorenzo, Calif.; and three grandsons, David Soule, LCPL Andrew Kaplan now serving in Iraq and Dan Kaplan.

William L. Park
William L. "Bill" Park , resident of Evergreen since 1972, died Friday, Dec. 17 at daughter Carolyns residence after being ill with cancer for some time.
Park was born on March 12, 1922 in Kansas City, MO. Bill met his wife Irene when he was 19 and working a summer job in Minnesota. They were married in Kansas City on April 16, 1944. Bill and Irene had three children: Carolyn Simmons (Grant) of Centennial, Jan Nelson (Larry) of Evergreen and Larry Park of California.
Bill was a Private 1st Class in the Army where he was a front-line medic in Europe during WWII. He finished college at the University of Kansas after the war and was in the Sigma Nu fraternity. Bill graduated with a business degree. T
They lived in Overland Park, KS where he was a salesman. Bill then became a manufacturers representative for Ethan Allen furniture where he was very successful and one of their top salesmen. Bill and Irene made many friends while they lived in Omaha, NE for 14 years. They then moved to Evergreen to their dream home in the mountains.
He has four granddaughters: Amy Grimm (Ken), Stephanie Simmons, Heather Simmons, Martine Nelson and three grandsons: Mark Nelson, Todd Nelson and Matt Nelson, great-grandchildren: Macaley Nelson, Meghan Nelson and twins Madison and Jacob Grimm.
In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial contribution to Evergreen Lutheran Church - Building Fund where Bill was a long time member. A Memorial Service celebrating Bills life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23 at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m. , his remains will be interred at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
