Brian Roznowski, 48, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005. Born March 20, 1956, he was a well known custom home builder in Colorado, based in Evergreen, president and owner of Ashland Custom Homes Inc. and passionate about building quality homes. He was one of the initial members of Built Green Colorado and a member of the Denver HBA.
Byron Charles Angevine, 94
A longtime Evergreen resident, Byron Charles Angevine, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, in Evergreen. He was born on the Angevine family centennial farm in Albion Township, Calhoun County, Michigan, on June 16, 1910, to Harry Valentine and Eleanor Dart Angevine, a Michigan pioneer family.
Tom Matthews
Former Evergreen resident Tom Matthews died Dec. 20, 2004, in Henderson, N.C. Tom was a well-respected scientist known for his pioneering research in viral diseases.

Wallace Walter Price II of Evergreen died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at his home.
Marcella June Higuera, 59
In loving memory of our beloved mother, Marcella June Higuera, of Evergreen who died Jan. 17, 2004. Marcella was born in Trinidad, Colo. on July 26, 1944.
She is survived by John, Grace, Michelle and David, grandmother of Anthony, Rachel and Andrew, great-grandmother of Da Neyah.
There will be a memorial service at Christ the King Church in Evergreen on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 10:30 a.m.
Jason Jennings Wood, 32
Jason Jennings Wood of Bailey died Jan. 15, 2004 at Swedish Medical Center. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
Jason was born Nov. 9, 1971 in Westminster, Colo. He attended Evergreen schools and graduated from Evergreen High School in 1990. He was employed by Safeway and the Snow Leopard Ski Shop. He played soccer and baseball, and enjoyed all sports. After high school, he worked on the Mississippi Queen on the Mississippi River. Subsequently, he spent four years in the U.S. Navy submarine service. After he was discharged, he was employed by Johnstone and Company in Jackson, Miss. He was presently working in maintenance at Deer Creek Elementary in Bailey.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Wood of Bailey; his father, Duane A. Wood and stepmother Carole L. Wood, of Broomfield; brother, Darin of Houston, Texas; and stepbrothers Jake and Geoffery.

Charles Anthony Lucasi, 57
Charles Anthony (Walpole) Lucasi of Lakewood, Colo. died Jan. 18, 2004 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, at the 1st Covenant Bible Fellowship in Larkspur.
He was born Jan. 14, 1947 in Denver and attended Evergreen Schools. He was an interior trimmer. On Feb. 14, 1992 he married Sara Dee Moore in Larkspur.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eric and Chad Walpole of Texas; a stepson, Travis Moore of Conifer; a stepdaughter, Juleen Moore of Montana; a sister, Nancy Sloan of Denver; and a brother, James Walpole of Evergreen. There are four grandchildren.

Paul 'Pete' R. Schar, 49
A Pine resident, Paul "Pete" Roy Schar, died Jan. 26, 2004 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. at the United Methodist Church of Evergreen. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr. Schar was born April 2, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Penn. He received a degree in forest management from Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Penn. He sold commercial insulation for Knauf Insulation. He was an avid sportsman, marathon runner, hunter and fisherman.
On July 24, 1998 he married Laurie Leann Mumm in Vancouver, Wash.
Survivors include his wife; sons Tanner and Donovan; parents Frank L. and Mildred Schar of Pennsylvania; and sisters Rebecca (Gary) Aletto of Indiana and Terri (Jules) Lenoir of Pennsylvania.

Bernard (Bernie) Merson, 60
Bernie Merson of Trumbull, Colo. died Sunday Oct. 26, 2003 after a courageous one-year battle with cancer.
Bernie was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on Aug. 12, 1943. He lived in Evergreen for most of the period between 1977 and 1992. He spent the last 11 years of his life in Trumbull. He owned and operated Mountain Cycle Works in Kittredge from 1977 to 1981. He owned Bernie Merson Construction at the time of his passing.
Bernie served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964. He is survived by his former wife, Rose Merson; his daughter, Jacki (Larry) Schneider of Aurora, Colo.; his son, Mark Merson of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Noah Merson and Conner Schneider; and many dear friends in the Evergreen and Trumbull area.
A memorial will be held at the Trumbull Fire House at noon on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Hazel Marie Shirley, 67
A longtime Conifer resident, Hazel Marie Shirley died Sept. 27 at Sweedish Medical Center. She was 67.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., today at Mountain High Christian Center, 8444 S. highway 285. There was a cremation. Burial will be at Pleasant Park Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Shirley was born April 3, 1936 in Denver. On Nov. 16, 1953 she married Grant King Shirley in Golden, Colo. They moved to Conifer in 1968. She was co-owner/operator of Shirley Septic from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Her interests were in gardening and cooking.
Mrs. Shirley was an active member of Mountain High Christian Center.
Survivors include her husband; son Ed (Mona) of Conifer; daughter Tamme (Gary) Hodge of Evergreen; a sister Emily (Jay) Keithline of Lakewood and a brother, Frank Umphries of Wheat Ridge. There are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Collin Lipinski Fisher, 16
Collin Lipinski Fisher, 16, of Evergreen, was killed in a car accident Monday, Jan. 12. A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 15 at Evergreen Memorial Park and his funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Evergreen. Edwin 'Ed' Ellis Kearton, 64
Edwin "Ed" Ellis Kearton, born April 20, 1940 in Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, Colo.
Ed graduated in 1958 from Howard High School, Ellicott City, Md. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and attended the University of Texas, Austin. He served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1958 to 1964, with one tour in Vietnam as Military Press Corps. Ed retired to McKinney, Texas to live with his daughter and grandchildren, spending his summers in Conifer working for his nephew, Tony Clem, at Rolling Ridge Deck Company.
Ed was predeceased by his mother, Carrie Mae Etta Walter, brother, Donald Stuart Kearton, son, Mark Ellis Kearton; and is survived by father George Wesley Lee Walter, three children, Ernest "Bucky" Kearton, Marie Edwina Gregory, Kristen Lynette Ross; six grandchildren; sisters Nancy Marie Webster, Vicki Louise Clem, and Ann Elizabeth Quigg; brother John Milton Walter; and his faithful dog Mozart.
Ed was an avid deep-sea fisherman and reader who enjoyed the outdoors and took great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. He was known for his quick wit and generosity of spirit and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Dolores Mae (Warner) Page, 69
Dolores Mae Page was a longtime resident of Evergreen, from 1965 to 1996. Dolores Mae Warner was born on May 4, 1935 in Detroit Mich. She was the oldest of eight children born to George M. Warner, and Dorothy M. (Wagner) Warner. She is the sister of Arlene Brandewie of Calabasas, Calif., Mary Ellen Jones of Alexandria, Va., Susan Hallahan of Redford, Mich., Dorothy (Dotty) Clark of Farmington Hills, Mich., George Warner of Lincoln Park, Mich., Theresa Dyc of Redford, Mich. and Patty Ahlgren of Redford, Mich.
Dolores died July 20, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dolores spent her early childhood at several military bases around the United States, as her father served in the U.S. Air Force. When her father left the service after World War II, the family settled in Detroit, Mich. Dolores graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit in 1953.
Not long after high school she met the love of her life, Paul Page. They were married October 20, 1956. In March 1963, Dolores and Paul moved to Denver and then to Evergreen in 1965. In August 1965, they adopted a baby girl, Paula Angela, the first of four. James Joseph came along in 1966, Peter Christopher in 1968, and Susan Marie in 1972.
Dolores delighted in making a home for her family. She was devoted to her husband and four children, and later her grandchildren. She was very active in her church, Christ the King Catholic Church in Evergreen. She had a deep faith in God. She loved the mountains and Colorado, and passed that love on to her children. In 1969, Dolores and Paul purchased land near Jefferson and Tarryall, Colo. The family spent many happy weekends camping on the property.
In 1996, Paul retired after 24 years at The Denver Post. He and Dolores retired to Clearwater, Fla. They spent seven years in the Sunshine State, but the call of the mountains and Colorado was strong. In July 2003, Dolores and Paul returned to Colorado, taking up residence in Hugo, Colo., to be closer to their two daughters five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. They were very happy in Hugo. The set up house in a nice little apartment and spent time shopping at the local store, visiting the library, Catholic church, secondhand store and fishing at Kinney Lake. Dolores delighted in cooking for anyone who would stop by, from the neighborhood kids to the parish priest. They made many friends in Hugo who enjoyed seeing them around town.
Dolores was preceded in death by her father, George Warner, her mother, Dorothy Warner, and granddaughter, Jamie Page. Dolores is survived by her six sisters, Arlene, Mary Ellen, Susan, Dorothy (Dotty), Theresa and Patty; one brother, George; her husband of 47 years, Paul Page; her four children, Paula (husband Dennis) Trigg, Jim Page, Peter (wife Rhonda) Page, and Susan (Husband Dane) Threlkeld; grandchildren, Shayne Rust, Morgan Trigg, Christina, Crawford, Justine Page, Annette Page, Josh Page, Taylor Threlkeld, Lauren Threlkeld, Katey Threlkeld; one great-grandchild, Abigail Crawford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was held at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel of Peace on July 23, 2004 and funeral services were July 24 with Father Paul Wicker officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Donations may be made in Dolores name to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, P.O. Box 790, Limon, CO 80828.
Kendall Bennett Hampton, 62
A 19-year Indian Hills resident, Kendall Bennett Hampton, died April 3, 2004 in Denver.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 9, at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr. Hampton was born August 20, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. He received an undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and a masters degree from Tulane University in Louisiana. He had worked six years for Storage Technology.
He was an avid railroad buff, belonging to the National Model Railroad Association, the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and other railroad preservation organizations. He also belonged to the Colorado Mountain Club. He was elected into MENSA.
On Feb. 12, 2002 he married Natalia Gennadievna in Golden.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Michelle (Eric) Emery, France; a son, Marshall (Pamela) Hampton, Minnesota; stepson and daughter Artem and Maria Nitulkov, Indian Hills; a sister, Catherine Ditmore, Iowa; a brother, William (Marie Gene) Hampton, Florida; an aunt, Eugenia, Iowa; and the mother of his children, Janice Hampton, Pennsylvania. There are three grandchildren.

Bryan Russell McFarland
Bryan Russell McFarland of Dumont, Colo. died July 4, 2004. He is survived by his children, Sean James McFarland, Kelly Erin McFarland and Caitlin Ellen McFarland-Pena, all of Denver. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick James McFarland of Bellingham, Wash., half-brothers, Michael McFarland of California, and Daniel Paul McFarland of Germany. Private internment.
Elfreda Kaminski, 66
Elfreda Winnelle Kaminski died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Omaha, Neb., Sept. 18, 1937 to Morris I. and Doris R. (McGilvray) Hansen.
She grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1955. She was active in the youth groups at Broadway Methodist Church, Jobs Daughters and Civil Air Patrol. She began working for the National Park Service in Omaha in 1970. Elfreda retired from the National Park Service after serving in Omaha, Neb., Denver, Colo., Yellowstone and Golden Gate National Parks. She was a volunteer firefighter in Colorado and at Yellowstone National Park and she served on the Garner School Board while at Yellowstone. Elfreda and her husband, Vance, were also charter members of the Lions Club established at Garner, Wyo.
When they retired they moved back to Evergreen, Colo. where she could watch some of their grandsons school activities Marshall Lee as goalie on the ice and Paul with baseball and school drama. She became active in the Lions Club at Idaho Springs where she volunteered as secretary and enjoyed developing the club newsletter with her computer skills. She also put in many hours of labor for the Eye Institute and Health Fairs. She was active with the United Church of Idaho Springs and participated in the womens group.
Elfreda celebrated her Scottish heritage by attending the Scottish games in Santa Rosa, Calif. and Estes Park, Colo. and assisting with the McGilvray booth. Elfreda and Vance enjoyed traveling. One of the highlights of their several trips was when they attended a McGilvray clan reunion in Inverness, Scotland.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Vance, include her mother, Doris R. Hansen of Council Bluffs, Iowa.; one daughter, Michelle May of Council Bluffs; two sons, Marshall Lee Davis of Arvada, Colo. and Morris Robert King of Grand Lake, Colo.; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Steward and husband, Randy; three grandsons, Jason and Joshua May all of Council Bluffs, and Marshall Lee Robert Davis of Arvada; two great grandsons, Garion Steward and Jonathon May; three step-children, daughter, Debora Horak and husband, Jeff, of Livonia, Mich., two sons, Paul of Evergreen and Michael Kaminski of Florida; one granddaughter, Jennifer Horak and two grandsons, Nathan Horak and Paul Michael Kaminski; and four brothers, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Elfreda was held at the United Church of Idaho Springs on Oct. 17, and another service occurred at the Broadway United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Oct. 21.
