was born in Hartford, Conn. on July 2, 1924.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine from 1944-1947,
largely transporting munitions and explosives as part of the
war effort. On June 5, 1948, he married the love of his life,

Terry Bladecki
Terry Bladecki of Fairplay, formerly of Aspen, lost his life
while skiing Monday, April 12, 2004 in Breckenridge.
Born in Bay City, Mich., to Chester and Arlene Bladecki,
Terry developed a love of the outdoors at an early age.
Interests of ice skating and baseball were soon replaced by
his life-long passion for skiing. A PSIA certified instructor at
the age of 22, the love of the mountains took him to
Traverse City, Mich., then, in 1978, to Aspen. With Ajax as
his playground, Terry became a member of the “legendary”
Flyers, a group of Aspen friends sharing and expressing
their enthusiasm for all things skiing.
Always appreciating the wide open vistas and majestic
“shining” mountains, in 1998 Fairplay and South Park
became his home; Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Vail
his new skiing playground; the Mosquitos and Collegiates
his tromping grounds.
In addition to skiing, Terry was an accomplished musician,
bicyclist, motorcyclist and backcountry hiker/explorer; a
voracious reader, a seeker of knowledge and master of
humor.
Terry leaves a loving family: two sons, Justin Bladecki of
Snowmass, Colo. and Dylan Bladecki of Tecumseh, Mich;
two stepsons, Jason Goodrich and wife, Tracey, of
Minneapolis, Minn. and Colin Goodrich of Glenwood Springs,
Colo.; sister, Brenda Bladecki Johnson, brother-in-law, Bill,
a niece and three nephews of Spring Hill, Fla.; an extended
family of relatives and friends; and devoted wife Diane of
Fairplay.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Challenge Aspen,
P. O. Box M, Aspen, CO 81612 or Breckenridge Outdoor
Education Center, P. O. Box 697, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
These programs benefit the physically challenged.
Arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Mountain Funeral
Home.
