Haskell Carroll Scott
Haskell Carroll Scott of Louisville died on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, in Louisville. He was 74 years old.
Mr. Scott was born to Haskell Clinton Scott and Bertha Hatridge on Nov. 13, 1931, in Durant, Okla.
In 1955, he married Antoinette 'Tony' Scott in Denver. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Scott attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied math and physics. He graduated in 1967.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and worked as an instructor for the U.S. Air Force.
Before settling in Louisville, he lived in Denver, Pueblo and Boulder.
Mr. Scott owned and operated ADL Sound of Boulder.
He enjoyed the Spanish language and culture.
Mr. Scott is survived by Jane Fossett of Louisville.
A private family service will take place at a later date.

Linda Lou Epplett
Linda Epplett of Erie died on Monday, May 22, 2006, at her home in Erie.
She was 56 years old.
Ms. Epplett was born to Richard Epplett and Betty L. Sower Epplett on June, 18, 1949, in Los Angeles.
She was an artist and worked at Hewlett-Packard.
She also was a member of Feed the Children, the Christian Broadcasting Network, TBN, Resurrection Fellowship of Longmont, the 700 Club and Restoration Messianic Fellowship.
Ms. Epplett is survived by her father, Richard, and stepmother, Jan Epplett of Velva, N.D.; her mother, Betty L. Sower VeDel, and stepfather, Richard A. VeDel of Florence, Mont.; her sister, Sindy Krueger of Canyon Lake, Texas; two nieces Crystal (Craig) and Abigail Stebins; a nephew, Dylan Stebins, and, two cousins.
A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Restoration Messianic Fellowship, 1450 Martin St., Longmont. The Rev. Jon Behrens will serve as the officiant.
Richard Elmo Haislip
Richard Elmo Haislip of Erie died on Friday, May 26, 2006, at Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville. He was 74 years old.
Mr. Haislip was born to Richard Isaac and May (Quick) Haislip on Aug. 10, 1931, in Alix Norton Town, Ark.
On Nov. 21, 1953, he married Barbara B. Barnes in Hartman, Ark.
Mr. Haislip served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1971. He retired as a technical sergeant.
He moved to Erie from Amarillo, Texas, in 1968.
After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Haislip worked with the State of Colorado and retired from the Colorado School of Mines in 1997.
He was a member of the Erie Baptist Church.
He enjoyed raising and working draft horses and participating in parades.
Mr. Haislip is survived by his wife, Barbara of Erie; five sons, Richard (Jo-Anne) Haislip of Brighton, Donald (Vicki) Haislip of Longmont, Dwain Haislip of Firestone, Danny (Roberta) Haislip of Erie, and Kenneth Haislip of Denver; a brother, Clarence Haislip of Kansas City, Kan; 12 grandchildren; and, two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, W.G. and Loyd Haislip; and, his sister, Sadie Huskey.
A visitation took place on Tuesday, May 30.
A funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont.
The Rev. Mitch Gardner of Erie Baptist Church will serve as the officiant.
The family requests that in honor of Mr. Haislip, friends dress casually for the service.
Interment will be at Eries Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Tim Hutsell
Tim Hutsell of Longmont died on May 16, 2006, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 51 years old.
Mr. Hutsell was born to Wayne and Shirley (Milie) Hutsell on Jan. 8, 1955, in Oakland, Calif.
Mr. Hutsell grew up in the Louisville area and graduated from Centaurus High School.
On Sept. 11, 1983, he married Tammy Varra in Boulder.
The couple lived in the Lyons area for 18 years and moved to Longmont in 2001.
Mr. Hutsell owned and operated Arapahoe Body and Paint in Boulder for 15 years.
Then, he started Tims Auto Restoration in 2002 doing custom auto restoration.
His work was featured in several automobile magazines highlighting his artistic and restoration skills.
Mr. Hutsell enjoyed traveling, listening to music, working around the home and fixing things as well as helping others.
Mr. Hutsell is survived by his wife, Tammy of Longmont; his father, Wayne Hutsell of Tucson Ariz.; four brothers, Kim Hutsell of Tucson, Ariz., Wade (Sheri) Hutsell of Sheridan, Wyo., Randy (Peri) Hutsell of Springfield, Nev., and Kurt (Jennifer) Hutsell of Commerce City; his sister-in-law, Tina (Ricky) Pohlmann of Erie; his mother-in-law Sylvia Varra of Longmont; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hutsell was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Kip Hutsell.
A memorial gathering will take place from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, May 27, at the Hutsell home, 14506 N. 83rd St., Longmont.
Cremation has been handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Cancer Care Center, 1950 Mountain View Ave., Longmont, Colo., 80501.
Jewel M. Wolcott
Jewel M. Wolcott of Boulder died on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at her home. She was 86 years old.
Mrs. Wolcott was born to Raymond and Julia Mosher on Jan. 31, 1920, in Long Island, N.Y.
She grew up in various cities along the East Coast and as a young woman lived in New Orleans, where she worked as an architectural drafter at an airplane plant during WW II.
There, she met her future husband, Roland Wolcott.
The couple later moved to Boulder.
Mrs. Wolcott enrolled at the University of Colorado at Boulder but soon left to raise eight children.
She returned to the university after her children were grown.
She received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy at 64 years old.
Mrs. Wolcott then wrote her autobiography and edited My Dear Friend Chas, a compilation of letters sent to Rolands father around the turn of the century.
My Dear Friend Chas was awarded the Monograph of the Year by the Colorado Historical Society in 1990.
Mrs. Wolcott spent her later years contributing to her community.
She volunteered for many organizations including the Oral History Project at the Carnegie Library in Boulder, the Boulder Civic Club, the Gold Hill Club and the Sugarloaf Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Wolcott is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roland; two brothers, James Mosher and Raymond Mosher; a sister, Gladys Mosher; five sons, John Wolcott, Jim Wolcott, Tim Wolcott, Andy Wolcott and Ken Wolcott; three daughters, Dorothy Wolcott, Rachel Wolcott, and Betty Durn; and, 13 grandchildren.
Mrs. Wolcott was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Mosher and Lucie Leopold; and, an infant son, Henry.
Services will take place at 3 p.m., Friday, May 26, at St. Johns Episcopal Chapel, 1419 Pine St., Boulder.
Clarence Martella
Clarence Martella of Louisville died on Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, in Louisville. He was 85 years old. Mr. Martella was born to Albert and Columba Scasserra Martella on Oct. 30, 1920, in Marshall. On Sept. 19, 1943, he married Wilma Hawkins Martella in Louisville. A lifelong resident of Louisville, Mr. Martella attended Louisville High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1946. He received the Carnegie Hero Medal on Jan. 27, 1937, for trying to save a friend from drowning. He retired after 32 years as a budget analyst at the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder. He then worked as a ranger at the Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville. Mr. Martella was a lifelong member of the St. Louis parish and a member of the Louisville Rod and Gun Club. He was a former member of the Tri-City Elks Lodge No. 2541; the Society of Italian Americans; Twin Peaks Golf Course; and, a former assistant scoutmaster for troop No. 69 in Louisville. Mr. Martella’s family shared the statement: “Clarence enjoyed his large family, fishing the streams of Colorado, traveling, golf and gardening. In his later years, he enjoyed growing giant pumpkins.” Mr. Martella is survived by his wife, Wilma of Louisville; his daughters, Maree Claire Albright, Pattie Varra and Carla Doggett all of Louisville; his sons, Douglas Martella of Louisville and David Martella of Broomfield; his sister Marguirete Martella of Louisville; his brothers, Thomas Martella and William Martella of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; and, one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Scott Martella; and, his brothers, Anthony Martella Vincent Martella, Albert Martella and Edward Martella of Louisville. A rosary will take place at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville. A funeral Mass, officiated by Father Timothy Gaines, will take place immediately following the rosary. Interment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. Ethel Evelyn Lawson Hicks
Ethel Evelyn Lawson Hicks died on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the Las Villas Del Norte skilled nursing facility in Escondido, Calif. She was 96 years old. Ms. Hicks was born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Ong, Neb. She lived in Eldora and Lafayette as a child. In her adult years, she lived in Lakewood and Denver before moving to Escondido, Calif., where she lived for the past 18 years. Ms. Hicks worked as an accountant for many car dealerships in Colorado, including Wm. Goodro Inc., in Denver. After her retirement, Ms. Hicks enjoyed traveling abroad and visiting California. Ms. Hicks is survived by her nephews, Lon (Donna) Lawson of Phoenix, Ken (Bonnie) Lawson of Longmont, Bob (Cindy) Lawson of Milliken, and Swan (Sam) Lawson of Mesa, Ariz.; her nieces, Carolyn (Dave) Swelland of Ramona, Calif., Fonda (Don) Hall of Los Angeles, and Doris (Dan) Nixon of Ramona, Calif.; and, many great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside service took place on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver.
Christopher A. Harbuz
Christopher A. Harbuz of Louisville died on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at the HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 32 years old. A lifelong resident of Louisville, Mr. Harbuz was a Special Olympics medalist in several sports. He also participated in various activities with the personnel at Imagine!, where he formed many friendships. He enjoyed his Friday nights watching wrestling and eating pizza. Mr. Harbuz is survived by his parents, Stan and Margarete Harbuz; his brothers, Pete, Ed and Richard; his sisters, Karol Hall and Peggy Schlichenmayer; and, his extended family members. A memorial service took place at the Darrell How Mortuary in Lafayette on Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to Imagine! Bonnie Misner-Nelson
Bonnie Misner-Nelson of Louisville died on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in Louisville. She was 68 years old. Ms. Misner-Nelson was born to Wilbur Misner and Elizabeth Robinson on Sept. 27, 1937, in Denver. In 1957, she married Sigmund Williams in Colorado. The couple later divorced. Before moving to Louisville in 2001, Ms. Misner-Nelson lived in Boulder and Longmont. A 1955 graduate of Longmont High School, Ms. Misner-Nelson worked for Schwinn Bicycle until her retirement in 2001. She enjoyed gardening, reading and providing assistance to the elderly. Her family shared this statement: “Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her laughter and spirit of service will be missed.” Ms. Misner-Nelson is survived by her sons, Scot (Leanne) Williams of Erie and Brook Williams of Denver; her brother, Clark (Debbie) Misner of Louisville; and, two grandchildren, Ryan and Jena Williams of Erie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Misner. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Rocky Mountain Christian Church. Eugene C. Blanka
Eugene C. Blanka of Lafayette died on Monday, July 31, 2006, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 78 years old. Mr. Blanka was born to Floyd and Lois Blanka on June 25, 1928, in Lincoln, Neb. On Nov. 23, 1950, he married Wilma Wagner in Lafayette. Mr. Blanka served in the U.S. Marines from 1946-1948. Mr. Blanka is survived by his wife, Wilma; his sons, Jerry Blanka and Ricky Blanka both of Lafayette; and, his sister, Ruth Ann Kaiser of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Blanka. Graveside services took place on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006. Avalon Funeral Home of Lafayette handled the arrangements.
