C.C. "Clancy" Waneka
C.C. "Clancy" Waneka died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville.
He was 94 years old.
Mr. Waneka was born to C.A "Gus" Waneka and Gladys Dixon Waneka on March 27, 1911, in Lafayette.
He was raised in Lafayette and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1929.
He attended the Colorado Agricultural College, now known as Colorado State University, in Fort Collins. There, he studied biology.
In 1932, Mr. Waneka married Helen May Graham in Kimball, Neb.
Mr. Waneka taught English and biology at Wellington High School for two years. He then worked for the Soil Conservation Service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 16 years.
During that time, Mr. Waneka and his family lived in New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado.
In 1951, he retired from the government and became self-employed as a farmer and dairyman in Lafayette.
Mr. Waneka was involved in many community affairs.
He campaigned for state representative in Boulder County and was very active in affairs at CSU.
He served on the schools governing board for eight years and was president for four years.
He traveled to Nigeria with then CSU president Dr. William Morgan, to teach agriculture.
Mr. Waneka was active in the Farmers Union, the Lafayette Lions Club and the Methodist Church.
Mr. Waneka is survived by his three children, Carole (Don Dietz) Waneka Bove of Fort Collins, Dr. G. Pat (Marti) Waneka of Denver and Dr. Michael (Kay) Waneka of Greeley; his sister, Wilma Huckins of Broomfield; his brother, Ken Waneka of Longmont; seven grandchildren, Rick Bove, Robin Marshall, Dana Rowan, Lane Waneka, Michelle Waneka, Michael Waneka and Dr. Stacy Waneka; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at the United Methodist Church of Lafayette, 1255 Centaur Village Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or the Lafayette Miners Museum, 108 E. Simpson St., Lafayette.
Marion A. Allen
Marion A. Allen of Fort Collins died on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005. She was 83 years old.
Ms. Allen was born to Louis and Ida Egland on March 13, 1922, in Haynes, N.D.
She grew up on a homestead farm in southwest North Dakota during the depression.
Her family survived by trading cream and eggs in return for staple foods.
She lived in the Dakotas and Montana. She moved to Colorado in 1965.
Ms. Allen worked as an office manager and accountant for J.C. Penney, Gates Rubber and the Denver Athletic Club.
In 1976, she became the owner and operator of the Big Bend Motel in Estes Park.
During her retirement, she lived in Longmont and Louisville.
A devout Catholic, Ms. Allen was a seamstress who, among other projects, made her daughter’s wedding gowns and son’s shirts.
Ms. Allen is survived by her son, the Rev. Donald Willette of Fort Collins; her daughter, Marla (Jim) Attwood of Pinewood Springs; her grandchildren, Sarah Douglas of Denver, Kelly Lewis of Plymouth Mich., David John Baumhover of Dacono and Rodney Baumhover of San Diego; and, three great-grandchildren.

Robert D. Sneddon
Robert D. Sneddon, a lifelong Louisville resident, died on Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Louisville.
He was 72 years old.
He was born to James M. Sneddon and Olive R. Clark Sneddon on April 2, 1934, in Louisville.
On July 19, 1958, he married Margaret Dover in Louisville. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Sneddon worked for the Public Service Company of Colorado for 32 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Sneddon is survived by his daughters, Alyson Sneddon and Heather Sargent of Encampment, Wyo.; and, two granddaughters, Sarah Sneddon and Emma Cone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Emajane Enrietto.
A funeral will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 14, at the Louisville Cemetery, at Colo. Highway 42 and Empire Road, Louisville.

Palmena “Pal” M. DiCarlo
Palmena “Pal” M. DiCarlo, a lifelong Louisville resident, died on Monday, June 5, 2006, at Boulder Community Hospital. >
She was 73 years old.
Mrs. DiCarlo was born to Onorio Ferrera and Lucia Norci Ferrera on Jan. 16, 1933, in Louisville.
On Dec. 1, 1951, she married Eugene Anthony DiCarlo in Louisville.
A 1950 graduate of Louisville High School, Mrs. DiCarlo worked at Storage Technology Corp. for 14 years.
She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Louis Altar & Rosary Society and the Society of Italian Americans.
Mrs. DiCarlo enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play softball, baseball and football.
Mrs. DiCarlo is survived by her husband, Gene of Louisville; her children, Gene Allan (Vicki) DiCarlo, Paula Ann (Billy) Elrod, Karen Marie DiCarlo and Dino Anthony (Leslie) DiCarlo; and, four grandchildren, Breeann, Dino and Derek DiCarlo and Josh Talbitzer all of Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dominic Ferrera in 1936; and, a sister, Gwendolyn Ferrera Paxton in 1945.
Services already have taken place.

Anna Porta
Anna Porta, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, died on Saturday, June 10, 2006. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Porta was born to Frank Lastoka and Marie Stepan Lastoka on Nov. 16, 1913.
On July 5, 1932, she married Charles Porta in Albuquerque, N.M.
She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews grow and dancing and traveling with her husband.
Mrs. Porta is survived by her brother, Joe Lastoka of Lafayette, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1989; two sisters, Helen Petrelli and Bessie Vallery; and, a brother, Laddie Lastoka.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Friday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church, 1255 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.
The Rev. Gilbert Zyzniewski will officiate.

Dawn Deanna Ross
Dawn Deanna Ross of Victor, Idaho, died on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Ross was born to Leonard and Lorna May O'Brien on Aug. 16, 1941, in Carlton, Minn.
She lived in Superior, Lafayette and Wyoming.
In 1994, she moved to Victor, Idaho.
On Oct. 3, 1990, she married Cleon W. Ross in Fort Collins.
Mrs. Ross worked as a professional photographer.
More recently, she worked as a ceramics and porcelain doll artist.
Mrs. Ross is survived by her husband, Cleon; her sons, Larry and Wayne Schut of Superior; her stepchildren, David (Kathy) Ross of Victor, Idaho, Jon (Cyndi) Benson of Superior, Blaine (Holly) Ross of Berthoud, Janine (Kendall) Jolley of Victor, Idaho; and, 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Lee.
Memorial services took place on Tuesday, June 6, at the Valley Mortuary in Driggs, Idaho.

Richard Royce Posey
Richard Royce Posey formerly of Lafayette died on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Carrington Health Center in Carrington, N.D. He was 89 years old.
Mr. Posey was born to Forest and Carrie (Lasher) Posey on March 26, 1917, at Melville, N.D.
He grew up in the Melville and Carrington area.
When Mr. Posey was 17 years old, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps, Chapter No. 106, where he worked in western North Dakota building trails and campgrounds.
He then was transferred to Lanesboro, Minn., where he met Pauline Greer.
On July 22, 1938, Mr. Posey married Miss Greer in Sisseton, S.D.
Mr. Posey worked on the AlCan Highway and was drafted into the U.S. Navy.
After his honorable discharge, he worked in the shipyards in Portland, Ore.
He then worked for the telephone company in Carrington and installed rural electricity in the western region of the U.S.
In 1955, Mr. Posey and his wife moved to Lafayette.
Mr. Posey worked on Interstate 25 and other road projects. He served as the hoist operator for the Washington Coal Mine until it closed.
Mr. Posey then worked for Pipefitter Local No. 208 until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. and Mrs. Posey moved to Carrington in 1984. There, he worked on his brother's farm until he was 80 years old.
Mr. Posey was a member of the American Legion of Carrington and a charter member of the Tri-City Elks No. 2541 of Louisville.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting waterfowl and gardening.
Mr. Posey is survived by his sons, Donald (Pat) of Broomfield, Robert (Jan) of Cajon City, Gary (Linda) of Lafayette and David of Carrington; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and, one sister, Dolly Footitt of Carrington.
Mr. Posey was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; two brothers, Lawson and Tom Posey; two sisters, Janet Norden and Marjorie Galt; and, one grandson, Scott Posey.
Services took place on Saturday, May 20, in Carrington.
Interment was at the Carrington Cemetery.
