Josephine Isabelle Vigil

Josephine Isabelle Vigil of Lafayette died on Monday, March 21, 2005.
She was 52 years old.
Mrs. Vigil was born on Nov. 14, 1952, in Louisville, to Salvado and Elise Fresquez Vigil.
She married Daniel J. Bender in April 1974. The couple later divorced.
Mrs. Vigil enjoyed gardening and the Broncos.
Mrs. Vigil is survived by her sons, Daniel Vigil and Marcos Vigil of Lafayette; her sisters, Cecilia Vigil of Lafayette, Tina Vigil of Lafayette, and Ruth Ann Rosales of Thornton; and, her half-brothers, Sal Gomez of Pinecliff, Felix Gomez of Milliken, Manuel Gomez of Prescott, Ariz., Mark Gomez of Aurora, Robert Vigil of Lafayette, and Frank Gomez of Nederland.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Erika Vigil.
A visitation took place on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.
A funeral service took place on Thursday, March 24, 2005, also at the Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.
Avalon Funeral Home of Lafayette is handling the arrangements.

David Cedric Alquist

David Cedric Alquist of Boulder died on Thursday, March 24, 2005.
He was 65 years old.
Mr. Alquist was born April 17, 1939, in Midland Mich., to Dr. Francis Nelson Alquist and Berenice P. Rucker.
Mr. Alquist attended Albion College and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1962. He also attended the University of North Carolina.
He worked as a landscape gardener at Nuzum Nursery. He owned Landscape Services S.P. of Boulder since 1982.
He was a member of the Colorado Nursery Association, the C.U. Museum of Natural History and the Green Colorado Water Taskforce for five years.
He played football and tennis in high school and college. He enjoyed bowling and was a fan of the University of Colorado Women’s Basketball. He also enjoyed dirt track racing and was a sponsor and fan of Sheperd Racing.
Mr. Alquist is survived by his sister-in-law, Leanna Alquist of Spickard, Mo.; and his friend and employee, Don Sheperd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and, his brother, Jack Alquist.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at First Christian Church, in Boulder. The Rev. Terry L. Zimmerman officiated.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Colorado Women’s Basketball. Campus Box 372, Boulder, CO, 80309.
Crist Mortuary of Boulder is handling the arrangements.

Kimberly Ann Garcia

Kimberly Ann Garcia of Commerce City died on Friday, April 15, 2005.
She was 50 years old.
Mrs. Garcia was born on Jan. 15, 1955 in Aurora.
She married George P. Garcia on March 3, 1973, in Louisville.
They made their home in Louisville for many years before moving to Commerce City.
She worked as a cook at the Blue Parrot restaurant for many years during that time. She helped raise her grand children and enjoyed watching the cooking channel so she could try new recipes.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband, George P. Garcia of Commerce City; her daughters, Tracy (Jeffery) Rush of Commerce City, and Dana Garcia of Commerce City; her mother, Phyllis (Steve) D’Andrea of Henderson, Nev.; her sister, Tami Nickell of Washington; and, her grandchildren, Cherey-Jo Patrick, Timmothy-Jeorge Patrick and Kodie Garcia.

Russel Davies

Russel Davies of Longmont died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 85 years old.
Mr. Davies was born to William and Ella Buckley Davies on April 21, 1920, in Longmont.
He was raised and lived in the Hygiene and Longmont area.
He graduated from Longmont High School in 1938.
On Jan. 24, 1959, he married Phyllis June Scarpella in Boulder.
Mr. Davies was a carpenter foreman for Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. He retired in the 1980s.
He attended Hygiene United Methodist Church.
Mr. Davies was a 30-year member and a past fire chief for the Hygiene Volunteer Fire Department.
He also was a member of the BPOE Elks No. 1055, where he served as exalted ruler from 1968-1969; the IOOF Odd Fellows; and, the Longs Peak Grange.
He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Elks and Odd Fellows bowling teams. He participated in horseshoe-pitching tournaments and played baseball in his early years.
He enjoyed playing poker and meeting friends for coffee at the Hygiene caf.
Mr. Davies is survived by his son, Tom Davies of Longmont; his brother, Ernest (Virginia) Davies of Longmont; his brother-in-law, Carmen (Barbara) Scarpella of Longmont; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Greve of Longmont and Ellon Woody Scarpella of Wray; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were hosted on Nov. 16, 2005, at the LifeBridge Christian Church.
The Rev. Burry Bessee of the Hygiene United Methodist church served as the officiant.
Interment was at the Hygiene Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hygiene Volunteer Fire Department or the BPOE Elks No. 1055, in care of the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colo. 80501.

Evelyn M. Chaussart

Evelyn M. Chaussart of Louisville died on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in Denver.
She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Chaussart was born to Arthur Hurd and Gertrude Frank on March 5, 1918, in Boulder.
In November 1937, she married Albert F. Chaussart in Boulder.
Mrs. Chaussart enjoyed reading and being a homemaker.
Mrs. Chaussart is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Nick) F. Schons of Longmont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; two sisters; and, three brothers.
Memorial services took place on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
Interment was in the Mountain View Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties.

Dominic Vincent Rizzi

Dominic Vincent Rizzi of Lafayette died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005. He was 19.
Mr. Rizzi was born to Timothy and Lisa Romano Rizzi on July 11, 1986.
Mr. Rizzi graduated from Centaurus High School in 2005. He was employed as a mechanic at Lafayette Small Engine Repair, and was attending Denver Automotive and Disel College.
He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Lisa Rizzi; his fiance, Jenny Shaw; his sister Sarah Rizzi Lopez of Broomfield; his brother, Anthony Rizzi; his grandparents, Pauline Romano of Lafayette, Victor and Joyce Romano of Plymoth Meeting, Pa., and Richard and Mary Rizzi of Louisville; and, several nieces, aunts and uncles.
Nick loved music and laughter and always stepped up when called upon to help others. He had a lifelong interest in science and was was a natural explorer. His family and friends will miss his endless curiosity, his sense of adventure and his playful spirit.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m.- 5p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Dr.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 110 W. Simpson St. Lafayette. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Immaculate Conception Church.
Contributions for Mr. Rizzis fiance and baby daughter, Jasmine, may be made to Dominic Rizzi memorial fund at the Bank of the West, 890 W. Cherry St., Louisville.

Mabel L. Sahm

Mabel L. Sahm of Louisville died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, in Boulder.
She was 99 years old.
Mrs. Sahm was born to Jeremiah Blackburn Sandy and Della Dice Sandy on Sept. 21, 1906, in Fairmont, W.V.
On March 12, 1934, she married Donald E. Sahm in Boulder.
Mrs. Sahm was the last surviving sibling of eight children. She moved with her family to Louisville when she was 14 years old.
In Louisville, she met her husband. The couple had a TV and radio repair business.
Mrs. Sahm was a homemaker and a founding member of the First Pentecostal Church of Louisville.
Mrs. Sahm is survived by her granddaughter, Diana L. Quinn; and, her great-grandson, Jeremiah L. Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her daughter, Sharon R. Newkirk; and, her siblings, Judith Fabrizio, Murel Pierce, Auncy Vennette, Nina Brown, Konova Scott, Benjamin Sandy and Pearl Sandy.
Memorial services took place Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.
Interment was at the Lafayette Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Doris Naomi Meade

Doris Naomi Meade died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in Erie.
She was 74.
Mrs. Meade was born August 27, 1931, in Baltimore, to George and Louisa (Hilgeman) Brehm.
She attended Eastern High School in Baltimore.
She met and married Gerald Meade on November 29, 1952 while he was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. After moving to Great Falls, Montana for a short period, they settled in Denver in 1954.
Mrs. Meade spent many years working for Colorado National Bank until becoming a full-time mom in 1964.
She enjoyed reading, and watching the Broncos and auto racing. She was an ardent Tony Stewart fan.
Mrs. Meade is survived by her two daughters Debra A. Meade of Denver and Lisa M. Northrup, of Fort Morgan; her son, Michael A. Meade, of Erie; her brother, William Brehm, of Delaware; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Joan Brehm, Gloria Glock and Caroline Worley.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Newcomer Family Mortuary in Lakewood. Interment will be at a private ceremony in Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
