Jim N. Griffin
Jim N. Griffin of Louisville died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, in Louisville.
He was 79 years old.
Mr. Griffin was born Aug. 25, 1925, to Lowell Griffin and Lola (Holloway) Griffin in Deming, Ind.
On Dec. 19, 1948, he married Elizabeth Louise (Bertrand) Griffin in Indianapolis.
Mr. Griffin graduated from Cicero High School in Cicero, Ind.
He also graduated from Purdue University in 1950, earning a bachelor’s degree in math and physics.
He worked for CAA in Indianapolis; Glen L. Martin in Baltimore; ITT in Fort Wayne, Ind.; and IBM in Boulder, retiring in 1987.
Mr. Griffin was a mason. He also was a member of Boulder Lodge No. 45, Boulder Valley Christian Center and Young at Heart.
He enjoyed ham radio, WØNCD, computers, astronomy, photography, bible study, hiking, bowling, music, his family and pets.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Louisville; his daughters, Sandra Jewell of Highlands Ranch and Karen Gleason of Livermore; his sons, Dr. William Griffin of Springfield, Mo., and James Griffin of Farmington, N.M.; and, five grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry C. Griffin.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Nov. 11, at Boulder Valley Christian Church in Boulder.
Gerald Schlatter officiated.
Interment followed at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Leah M. Gallagher
Leah M. Gallagher of Boulder died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in Louisville.
She was 85 years old.
Ms. Gallagher was born Jan. 28, 1919, to John Lester White and Ella Dotzel in Sandy Hook, Wis.
In 1940, she married Robert Joseph Gallagher in South Bend, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She graduated from high school in East Dubuque, Ill.
She moved to Boulder in 1955 from Dubuque, Iowa.
Ms. Gallagher worked at Joslins in Boulder for 25 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder.
She also was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and eating eggs benedict.
Ms. Gallagher is survived by a son, R.J. Gallagher Jr. of Basalt; her daughters, Mary L. Taylor of Fillmore, Calif., Maureen Towner of Vancouver, Wash., and Nancy O. Lingenfelter of Louisville; a brother, John L. White of Dubuque, Iowa; and a sister, Patricia McEnery of Dubuque, Iowa.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 12, in staging area “C” at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

Gary Grant Burton
Gary Grant Burton of Lafayette died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Louisville.
He was 63 years old.
Mr. Burton was born Sept. 3, 1941, to Harris Burton and Myrtle Oasheim in Lancaster, Minn.
From 1963-1981, he was married to Anne Madison Burton.
From 1984-1992, he was married to Kathy Kyne Burton.
Mr. Burton lived in Boulder for 50 years and Lafayette for 13.
He was the owner of Buff Septic Service in Lafayette since 1983.
From 1974-1980, he worked at Buff Conoco in Boulder.
He enjoyed golf, horses, family and friends.
He is survived by his companion, Sandy Blossom of Lafayette; a son, Troy (Kelly) Burton of Firestone; a daughter, Michelle Burton of Louisville; a sister, Missy Lane of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and, two grandchildren, Jessie and Kayla Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, at Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
The Rev. Duane Roll will officiate.

Robert Paul Tesone
Robert Paul Tesone of Louisville died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Louisville.
He was 62 years old.
Mr. Tesone was born March 15, 1942, to Fiori and Mena (DiGiacomo) Tesone in Boulder.
In 1962, he married Diane Van Allen in Louisville. The couple divorced in 1970.
In 1971, he married Judy Larson in San Diego. The couple divorced in 1984.
Mr. Tesone graduated from Louisville High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and retired in 1992.
He was a member of Tri-City Elks No. 2541 of Louisville.
He was a former member of the American Legion and VFW.
Mr. Tesone is survived by his mother of Louisville; a brother, Gary Tesone of Louisville; a sister, Judy DeNovellis of Louisville; his sons, Greg Tesone of San Diego and Phillip Tesone of Sandpoint, Idaho; his daughters, Andrea Tesone of San Diego and Paula Haskell of Denver; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Vince Tesone.
A recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial were held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville.
Father Timothy Gaines officiated.
Interment followed at Louisville Cemetery.

Winston Hughes Miller
Winston Hughes Miller of Lafayette died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Boulder.
He was 70 years old.
Mr. Miller was born Dec. 5, 1933, to William H. and Ellis Dailey Miller in Waco, Texas.
He was an English and speech teacher in Campbell and San Jose, Calif., before retiring to Lafayette in 1994.
He organized and judged many speech events for the Colorado High School Activities Association.
At the time of his death he was organizing the state speech festival that will be held in early 2005.
Mr. Miller served for several years on the Lafayette Board of Zoning Adjustment.
He also served on the Hearthwood Townhome Association board of directors.
He was a lifelong Methodist and member of First United Methodist Church of Boulder.
He previously was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church of Boulder.
At Mr. Miller’s request, no services will be held.
His ashes will be scattered in the mountains west of Boulder.

Virginia “Ginni” Speaker
Virginia “Ginni” Speaker of Lafayette died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Lafayette.
She was 67 years old.
Ms. Speaker was born Oct. 30, 1937, to Charles Isaac Larreau and Ruby Alice Parkhurst Larreau in Oberlin, Kan.
On Aug. 27, 1955, she married Richard L. Speaker in Georgetown.
Ms. Speaker graduated from Lafayette High School in 1955.
She co-owned the Tre-Marie Beauty Salon for 25 years.
She enjoyed cooking, music, dancing and collecting Christmas villages.
She was a member of VFW Post No. 1771.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Speaker of Lafayette; her daughters, Cindy (Gene) Eichelberger of Lafayette, Michelle (John) Chiolino of Tempe, Ariz., and Kristine Speaker of Longmont; her son, Frank Speaker of Lafayette; her brother, Gerald Larreau of Wauneta, Neb.; her sister, Gloria Messinger of McCook, Neb.; her dog, Daisy; and, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Richard.
Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
The Rev. Bob Amundsen officiated.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Municipal Cemetery.
