SCHRAGE, Walter

Walter SCHRAGE, 75, of Loveland died Jan. 1, 2007, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland.

He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Danzig, Germany, to Rudolph Ernst Schrage and Marie Mathilde Boettcher Schrage.

He married Ruth Caroline Dally on April 30, 1960, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2000.

He attended Kuhling apprentice trade school in Germany to become a machinist. He owned and operated Danzig West Ltd. in Loveland.

He was a skilled machinist and a photographer.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and received a Good Conduct Medal. He was in the Reserves until 1963.

He moved to Loveland in 1978 from Chicago.

He was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church in Chicago and Gateway Baptist Church in Loveland.

He loved his dog, Kuni. He enjoyed photography, soccer, music and spreading the word of God.

He is survived by two sons, Werner Ernst Schrage and wife Amiee of Loveland, and Walter Richard Schrage and wife Lori of Chandler, Ariz.; a daugh-ter, Christine 'Tina' Karin Foster and husband Forest 'Woody' of Loveland; two sisters, Irmchen Gratzl and husband Emrich of Bloomington, Ill., and Marianna Turai and husband Mike of Elmhurst, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jessica Mackie and husband Tom of Surprise, Ariz., Nicholas and Brandon Schrage of Chandler, Zac and Nate McMorris of Loveland, and Richard and Seth Gandy of Loveland; and one great-grandson, Thomas James 'TJ' Mackie IV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and special friend, Irma.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gateway Baptist Church, with the Rev. James W. Rice officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1440 N. Boise Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.

POPE, Raymond Ralph

Raymond Ralph POPE, 83, of Loveland died Dec. 27, 2006, in Loveland.

He was born July 24, 1923, to Alexander and Mary Eichorn Pope in Windsor.

He graduated from Windsor High School. He received his undergraduate degree in 1948 and his law degree in 1951 from University of Denver.

He served in World War II on the Navy ship USS

Adair, a troop transport ship in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign.

He married Grace on Dec. 24, 1947, in California.

Pope practiced law in Greeley for 34 years before retiring in 1985. He enjoyed horseback rid-

ing, fishing, golf and walks with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Loveland; two sons, Mark Pope of Fenton, Mich., and Gary Pope and wife Kathy of Fort Lupton; brother Dale Schimpf of Oklahoma; three sisters, Esther Connelly of Greeley, Delores Schimpf of Windsor and Gladys Schimpf of Windsor; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Allnutt Macy Chapel in Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.

Eugene “Red” SIMPSON

Eugene “Red” SIMPSON of Butte, Mont., formerly of Loveland, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at his home.

Red was born in Ford County, Kan., on Oct. 11, 1926, to John Harold Simpson and Esther Laverne (Baird) Simpson. Upon graduation from high school, he traveled to Colorado, where he met his future bride, Peggie Dawn Hanes.

In 1944, he entered the United States Navy and served until 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to Loveland to be with Peggie, the love of his life. They were married in Loveland on April 27, 1946.

Red had an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated Simpson Floor Covering in Loveland until 1966. In 1967, he moved his family to Butte. He worked for the Floor Store until starting Simpson Floor Covering in 1969. In 1975 he saw a need in operating and leasing heavy equipment and founded Simpson Excavating, which he operated until his retirement in 1990. Red also developed an asphalt recycling machine before opening his excavating business.

Part of what drew Red to Montana was its abundant outdoor activities, which he truly loved. These activities included hunting, fishing, water skiing, and especially snowmobiling. In his earlier years he raced hydroplane boats. He also was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. Red was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Cosmopolitan Club in Loveland.

Red was unselfish in every aspect of his daily life. He loved the community, had a multitude of friends and always made himself available to them. His family was his life; when they had events or activities planned, he was always ready to go or participate. Red was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kent; one brother; and three sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Peggie of Butte; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jody Simpson of Loveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and David Micheletti of Georgetown Lake, Mont., and Karen Simpson and Robert Frantz of Helena, Mont.; grandchildren, Christopher and Joscelyn Hiatt of Missoula, Mont., Ricky Hiatt of Butte, Antonia and Law-rence Marquez of Butte, and Dominic Micheletti of Butte; great-granddaughters, Hailey Hiatt and Francesca Marquez; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Richard and Joanne Stotts of Loveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Red’s remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home, 1800 Florence Ave., Butte, where friends may call beginning 5 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highlands Hospice or Habitat for Humanity.

CLARK, Alfred E.

Alfred E. CLARK, 88, of Loveland passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at the Franklin Park Health Care Center in Denver.

Alfred was born on Dec. 8, 1918, in La Prairie, Ill., to Albert O. and Delphia (Shepherd) Clark. The family moved to southwestern Iowa when Alfred was a small boy.

Alfred married Edith Marie Alexander in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Dec. 22, 1940.

They moved to Loveland, Colo., in 1955. Alfred was a general contractor, working with three of his sons building houses and doing roofing and flooring. Alfred later became a union finish carpenter and retired in 1980.

Alfred loved his family and involvement with them and was an avid gardener. Alfred also had been a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program.

He was an active member of the Carpenters Union 510, holding the office of treasurer for many years.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Edith M. Clark, of Loveland.

He was the father of: Dwight Clark and wife Sue of Wellington, Colo.; Janice Thompson and husband Jerry of Sheridan, Ill., Duane Clark of Loveland, Floyd Clark and wife Susie of Loveland, Alice Kennedy and husband Paul of Granite City, Ill., Diane Cottrell and husband Brian of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Kathy Hardy and husband Lynn of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Susanne Zimmer and husband J. Mike of Loveland, Robert Clark and wife Sue of Castle Rock, Colo., Richard Clark of Loveland and Debra Bratten and husband Matt of Loveland.

He also is survived by 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gale Clark and wife Martha of Green River, Wyo.; three sisters, Garnet Manning and husband Paul of Gunnison, Colo., Carlene Heath of Glenrock, Wyo., and Annie Lacy and husband Jack of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jacqueline Cottrell; one infant great-grandson, C. Baker; three brothers, Austin and Charles of Denver and Keith Clark of Yuba City, Calif.; and two sisters, Alice Tharp of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Ethel Couch of Grand Junction, Colo.

Cremation was conducted. A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Loveland Meals on Wheels program.

GROVES, Nancy (Nan)

Nancy (Nan) GROVES, 77, of Bellvue, died Dec. 28, 2006.

She was born April 1, 1929, in Wooster, Ohio, to Bruce Warwick and Florence Hogle. She grew up and attended schools in Bryan, Texas. After graduation from Bryan High School she attended Texas Tech College (University) where she majored in applied arts. While at Texas Tech she met and later married Ramsey Groves on May 31, 1947.

Upon completing her degree she moved to Cuba, N.M., to join her husband in their first jobs. She began her lifelong teaching profession there and continued for 40 years in New Mexico, Ohio and Colorado. She retired from Thompson School District in 1995 after teaching in Berthoud, Namaqua, Winona and Mary Blair Elementary schools beginning in 1970.

She was an avid artist, potter, crafter and traveler. She was a longtime member of Trimble Court Artisans and participated in the Fort Collins Potters Guild. She was active in arts and crafts shows and helped produce the Artisan's Collection Show for 28 years.

During her busy life she found time to raise three children: Brenda K Beden of Grand Junction, Beverly Wright of Greeley, and Scott Lee Groves, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ramsey; her two daughters; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her twin sister, Leota Peel of Pasadena, Texas, and her younger sister, Jane Ashley of Kingsland, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her older sister, Dorothy Ann Warwick.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Allnutt Drake Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.

GALLAGHER, Michael E.

Michael E. GALLAGHER, 75, of Loveland died Dec. 31, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Burton Port, Ireland, to Barney and Anne O'Hara Gallagher. He married Kathryn Kerwin on June 6, 1959, in Chicago, Ill.

He was a pipe fitter for People's Gas in Chicago, where he retired in 1976.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a war buff.

He moved to Loveland in November 2005 from the Chicago area.

He is survived by a son, Brian Gallagher and wife Justine of Gurnee, Ill.; two daughters, Terri Shuey and husband Mark of Loveland and Anne Haderspeck and husband Erwin of Chicago; four brothers, Barney Gallagher of Elmhurst, Ill., Tony Gallagher of Arranmore, Ireland, Patrick Gallagher of Schaumburg, Ill., and John Gallagher of Arranmore; four sisters, Margie Galfano of Tinley Park, Ill., Mary Stevenson of Letter Cenny, Ireland, Grainne Boyle of Arranmore, and Uno Breannan of Lietrium, Ireland.

Services are with Kolbus Funeral Home in Chicago.

Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.

Viegut Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

TJORNEHOJ, Martha Christine

Martha Christine TJORNEHOJ, 78, of Loveland, passed away Jan. 1, 2007, at North Shore Health Care Facility in Loveland.

She was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Clarence Eliott Alton and Eleanor Lucille Pearson Alton. She married the Rev. Kenneth J. Tjornehoj on March 4, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa. They moved to Loveland in 1969 from Security. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1987.

Martha was an elementary school teacher at Laurene Edmonson Elementary School in Loveland and served on the Thompson School District school board during the mid-1970s. She was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, starting the Prayer Chain ministry and serving in many capacities including Stephen Ministry leadership and the Zion Book Group. She was also a member of AAUW, Jane Jeffersons, and the Wexford Book Group. Martha was involved with the Loveland Civic Music Association and started the park and recreation after-school activities program in Security.

She enjoyed reading, time at the family cabin at Carter Lake, knitting, local and statewide politics, and traveled extensively to visit family in Egypt, Bolivia, Indonesia, Switzerland and Alaska.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Tjornehoj and husband David Wangaard of St. Paul, Minn., Christine Hicks and husband William of Katy, Texas; son, Joel Tjornehoj and wife Gayl of Poolesville, Md.; grandchildren, Ingrid Wangaard-Tjornehoj and Liu Lian Lian of St. Paul, Minn., Brian Hicks and Katherine Hicks of Katy, Texas, Rachel Tjornehoj and Abigail Tjornehoj of Poolesville, Md.; sister, Eleanor Ann Alton of Iowa City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Kenneth J. Tjornehoj, and a brother, George P. Alton.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Cindy Wolf and Pastor Neil Harrison officiating.

Burial in Loveland Burial Park.

Viewing at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home 4-7 p.m., today, Thursday, and at the church on Friday, 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church memorial fund or charity of donor's choice in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80537.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Wexford, Lakeview Commons, North Shore Health Care Facility, and McKee Medical Center for the loving care of their mother.

The Rev. John LOBERG

The Rev. John LOBERG, 69, died Dec. 26, 2006, at North Shore Health Care Facility in Loveland.

He was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Fargo, N.D., to Martin and Vivian Loberg.

He was a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout award. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1958. He was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and was led to enter the ministry. In 1961, he graduated from Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary.

In the following years he served as pastor to four Wisconsin churches: Atonement Lutheran in Racine; First Lutheran, Amery; First English Lutheran, Wisconsin Rapids; and Redemption Lutheran, Wauwatosa.

As a dedicated preacher and teacher of the Bible, he enjoyed leading the liturgy, administering the sacraments, visiting the sick, comforting the bereaved and giving of his time to the needs of his parishioners.

He enjoyed his family and especially their many travels around the country.

Because of an extended illness, he was unable to continue in the parish ministry, but he never gave up being a theologian, cartooning, writing hymns and sharing his faith.

He is survived by three sons, Marty, Michael and Marc; one daughter, Molly; three daughters-in-law, Natalie, Amber and Abbey; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Jan. 12 at North Shore Health Care Facility.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that contributions be sent to the Fargo-Moorhead Family YMCA Loberg Endowment, 400 First Ave. South, Fargo, ND 58103.

MULNIX, Eileen

Eileen MULNIX of Fort Collins passed away Jan. 2, 2007, of natural causes at Columbine Care Center West in Fort Collins.

Eileen was born June 5, 1909, in Potter, Neb., the first of seven children to Joseph J. Johnson and Frances Anderson Johnson. She moved to Fort Collins in 1918.

Eileen took great pride in her education. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1927, received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Colorado State University in 1931, followed by a master's degree in home economics in 1939. Eileen later taught home economics, English, Spanish, chemistry and algebra for over 20 years in Colorado, 20 of which were spent in the Poudre School District.

Eileen had great faith in God and belonged to the First United Methodist Church for 89 years, and was an active member of several organizations and groups within the church.

She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed cooking and baking, especially with her granddaughters. Additionally, she participated in numerous organizations including Art and Literature Club, American Association of Univesity Women, and the Association for Retired Teachers.

Eileen married Frank Mulnix on July 25, 1940. They had two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren together. Eileen's greatest accomplishment was her dedication to her family. She was a wonderfully kind and loving person, always placing others before herself.

She was the cornerstone of the family and will be greatly missed.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Evelyn, Grace and Margaret; her brothers Kenneth and Ivan; her husband Frank; and her son, Alan.

She is survived by daughter Linda Deane of Loveland; granddaughter Erin Mihulka and husband Kirk Cooley of Fort Collins; great-grandsons Benjamin and Nathaniel; granddaughter Kelly Deane and husband Lee Newgent of Denver; daughter-in-law Susan Mulnix of Virginia; grandson Brian Mulnix and wife Beth of California; granddaughter Sara Mulnix of Washington; sister Roberta Junge and husband Marshall of Colorado Springs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Allnutt Drake Chapel, 650 W. Drake Road. The funeral service will start at 11 a.m., with a reception immediately following.

Memorial contributions can be made in Eileen's honor to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Allnutt Funeral Home, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
