FRENCH, George H.
March 22, 1923 - Oct. 6, 2004
George H. French of Longmont died Oct. 6, 2004, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville. He was 81.
George was born northwest of Longmont, on March 22, 1923, to George and Martha Shaeffer French. George attended the old Armstrong school through the eighth grade, and then began to farm full time with his father.
George married Grace Ellen Snyder in Boulder on April 27, 1944. To this union were born six children.
George is survived by his wife Grace of Longmont; sons, George Ron (Marlene) of Loveland and Edward G. (Debbie) of Berthoud; daughters, Lucinda (Dennis) Moe, Longmont, Trudi (Lon) Clark of Lyons; daughter-in-law, Rhonda French, of Loveland, and son-in-law, Robert Horst of Longmont. George was preceded in death by son Johnny R.; and daughter Susan K.; as well as granddaughters Wendy Moe and Teri Moe; and grandson Dennis Moe, his parents; and sister Peggy Price.
Sixteen grandchildren survive; Anissa Jiminez (Mark), Aimee French, Allie French, Louana Horrell, Jill Rodgers (Mark), John French (Candace), Allan French (Stephanie), Stacey Derington (Chris), Jason French (Helen), Dawna French, Tom Walsh, Angie Walsh, George Moe (Suzy), Tanya Wardal, Melissa Kneebone (Rusty), and Melanie Wardal. George also has 24 great-grandchildren; with two on the way. George is also survived by sister Betty Johnson of Washington; several cousins; and his aunt, Marg Ottaway.
George was a third-generation Colorado native and a lifelong resident of the Longmont/Lyons area. His grandmother Annie Copeland was born in El Paso County, Colo., in 1872, and his father George was born in Monument in 1894. The family homesteaded near Calhan, Colo., and moved to the Hygiene area in 1907. George and his father farmed northwest of Longmont for many years, moving to Lyons in 1949.
George and his father both took up the business of quarrying the Lyons sandstone, a pursuit George followed until about 1969. He then became a custodian for the St. Vrain Valley School District. George worked at schools in Hygiene and Lyons, retiring from Lyons High in 1981. George was very active in Lyons school activities, as all six of his children graduated from Lyons High. George was also a more than 20-year member of the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department, attaining the rank of chief before his retirement.
George was named Man of the Year in Blue for Boulder County, in 1980, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. George was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman all of his life, being outdoors was why he enjoyed farming and quarrying so much. He was one of the first men on a fire line, any time a forest fire struck, and one of the last to leave. George was a caring father to his six children, and was very proud of each. George very much enjoyed seeing and visiting with all of the 19 grandchildren and the 24 great-grand children.

GREENLY, C. Duane
Oct. 26, 1919 - Oct. 2, 2004
C. Duane Greenly of Longmont died at Longmont United Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. He was 84.
Mr. Greenly was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Longmont to Guy Freeman and Myrtle Lela (McCasland) Greenly.
He grew up in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School in 1937. He then entered the U.S. Army and served for four years, playing in the Army Band. He was stationed at Camp Crowder, Mo., but played for many military events throughout the United States.
After his military service, Mr. Greenly attended the University of Denver for three years. A musician, he had perfect pitch. He played piano but specialized in reed instruments.
Mr. Greenly and most of his family played in the Joe Cook Band for Jintey Dances in Longmont. He later partnered with his brother, Lamont, to form the Monte Bleu Quartet. The group performed at the Boca Raton Hotel in Boca Raton, Fla., every winter for 25 years. During the summers, the band worked in Reno and Las Vegas and other cities throughout the United States. Mr. Greenly retired in 1990 and returned to Longmont.
He had a passion for flying and owned and flew two small planes. He also enjoyed studying the history of early aviation and the history of the steam locomotive era.
Mr. Greenly was preceded in death by three brothers, Meredith, Guy Mack and Gordon Lamont Greenly.
He is survived by three brothers, Charles Greenly and his wife Fran of Longmont, Donald Ernest Greenly of Longmont and Doyle James Greenly and his wife Ethel of Greeley; a sister, Eileen Waldo of Arvada; and 13 nieces and nephews.
No public services are planned. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Howe Mortuary of Longmont.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice.
HENDERSON, Jean Faith
June 3, 1931 - Oct. 5, 2004
Jean Faith Henderson of Windsor died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was 73.
She was born June 3, 1931, in Everett, Mass., to Walter Emerson and Emma Louise (McPherson) Wheeler.
Mrs. Henderson was a secretary at La Mesas Bank in San Diego from 1951 to 1958. She moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., from San Diego and worked at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. She then moved to Laramie, Wyo., and worked as a church secretary. She later worked at the University of Wyoming until her retirement.
She lived in Berthoud for 10 years and in Windsor since April 2004.
Mrs. Henderson will be remembered as a devoted member of the Methodist faith who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, flowers, the mountains and nature in general.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Wheeler.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by a son, Earl Franklin of Loveland; two daughters, Laurie Cassat of Windsor and Nola Lemons of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Wheeler of Escondido, Calif.; five grandchildren, Heidi Hostetter of Longmont, Nathan Cassat of Berthoud, Brandy Maeir of North Carolina, Stevia Lemons of Virginia and Dusty Lemons of San Diego; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Maeir, Taylor Maeir, AJ Lemons, Jennifer Wacker and Steven Wacker; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service, preceded by a visitation, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Mary Etta Moore of Pierce United Methodist Church in Greeley officiating. Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory.

HUMRICH, Erma
Sept. 20, 1923 - Oct. 5, 2004
Erma Humrich of Longmont, died at her residence Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004. She was 81.
Mrs. Humrich was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Aurora, Neb., to W.E. and Ella May (White) Springer. She was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Giltner High School.
On May 14, 1942, she married Paul Humrich in South Mills, N.C., while he was serving in the armed forces. They later returned to Nebraska and moved from Fairbury, Neb., to Longmont in 1954.
Shortly after moving to Longmont, Mrs. Humrich joined the Columbine Extension Club. She remained an active member of the club until very recently, due to her health.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and traveling. She was active in her grandchildrens lives and will be remembered for treating them like her own children.
Mrs. Humrich worked for a number of years at both Bi-Rite Drug and Grants Department Store. She was a member of the LifeBridge Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a daughter, Cynthia Ann Humrich.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynda Abendschan and her husband Joe of Longmont; a sister, Ruth Humrich of Fort Collins; a grandson, Scot Abendschan and his wife Kimberly of Glendo, Wyo.; a granddaughter, Michelle Foster and her husband Chris of Denver; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Nichole, Darienne and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with David Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

JENNINGS, Carmelita Rose Carmen
June 27, 1930 - Oct. 5, 2004
Carmelita Rose Carmen Jennings of Longmont died Oct. 5, 2004, at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Jennings was born June 27, 1930, in Louisville to Rocco and Rose (DiPietro) DeSantis. She graduated from Louisville High School in 1948.
In 1951, she married Robert Lawrence Connors. They later divorced. She married Matthew Carrozo in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1981. She then married Keith M. Jennings on Sept. 29, 1983.
Mrs. Jennings had worked as a telephone operator for AT&T, at American Publishing in Denver and BSCS. She owned the Rolliana Bowling Alley in Longmont from 1966 to 1969 and later tended bar in the area.
She loved gaming trips to Black Hawk and Central City, as well as bowling and golfing. She made porcelain dolls and worked in crochet and needlepoint pieces. Each Christmas, she created angels, which she donated to the Tisone Family Cancer Center in memory of her brother, Carmen DiSantis.
Most of all, she adored her grandchildren.
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by a brother; and a son, Daniel Connors.
She is survived by her husband of Longmont; a sister, Virginia Milano and her husband Richard of Louisville; a daughter, Roberta Connors of Longmont; a son, Dennis Connors and his wife, Joan of Albuquerque, N.M.; four granddaughters; a grandson; two step-daughters, Laura Jones of Covington, Ga., and Maria Byron of Aurora; three step-grandsons; two step-sons, James Carrozo of Denver and Martin Carrozo of Aurora; and six other step-children living in New York and Europe.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, at Howe Mortuary in Longmont with visitation preceding at 9 a.m. Chaplain Robert Kraft will officiate. Entombment will be at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum.

KEEP, Helen Ida
Aug. 14, 1934 - Oct. 5, 2004
Helen Ida (Dimmel) Keep of Berthoud died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 70.
She was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Alma City, Minn., to Henry and Ida (Schroeder) Dimmel.
Mrs. Keep was raised in Janesville, Minn., and lived in Mankato, Minn., from 1954 to 1979. She came to Longmont from Mankato in 1979.
She married Larry Keep in Longmont in 1983.
Mrs. Keep was a medical records clerk at Longmont United Hospital until she retired.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she participated as a first class of the Stephen Ministers. She was also involved in the churchs Rebecca Guild and Bible Study Fellowship.
Mrs. Keep enjoyed needlepoint, camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Dimmel.
Mrs. Keep is survived by her husband of Berthoud; a daughter, Wendy Wagner and her husband Greg of Longmont; three stepsons, Roger Keep of Broomfield, Tracy Keep and his wife Trish of Frederick, and Lee Keep and his wife Wendy of Longmont; five brothers, Darhld Dimmel, Ross Dimmel, Loren Dimmel, Elmer Dimmel, and Earl Dimmel; two sisters, Myrles Ferch and Belva Brown; three grandchildren, Kelly, Aaron and Jordan; and three stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steve Berke of the church officiating. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Research Association Rocky Mountain Chapter or to First Evangelical Lutheran Church Youth in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
SPRINGER, Mark William
Jan. 15, 1955 - Sept. 30, 2004
Mark William Springer of Longmont died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at his home. He was 49.
He was born Jan. 15, 1955, in Longmont to William and Gladys Margaret (Johnson) Springer.
Mr. Springer lived in Longmont his entire life. He was a 1973 graduate of Longmont High School.
He was a customer service representative for the University of Colorado Federal Credit Union in Boulder. He held previous jobs in customer relations.
Mr. Springer was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He will be remembered as a generous, warmhearted, helpful person who loved children. He was recognized for his singing talents, and he enjoyed many activities, including hunting and fishing.
Mr. Springer was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Vicky Springer.
He is survived by a brother, Dale Springer and his wife Gayle of Arvada; a sister, Linnea Jackson and her husband Bill of Oklahoma City; aunts; an uncle; cousins; and other loved ones and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Berke of First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation was held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory with private inurnment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

WORTHING, Ruth A.
Aug. 31, 1913 - Oct. 4, 2004
Ruth A. Worthing of Boulder died of natural causes Oct. 4, 2004. She was 91.
Mrs. Worthing was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Maize, Kan., to Charles and Annie J. (Lawson) Dofflemyer. She attended the State Prep School of Boulder. Mrs. Worthing had lived in Boulder since 1922.
On Sept. 22, 1935, she married Jerald E. Worthing in Boulder. She worked at both Boulder Public Schools and Neodata.
Mrs. Worthing was a member of the Elks Ladies and the Social Order of the Beauceant. She was the longest active member of The First Congregation Church of Boulder. She was also a Pink Lady and a volunteer at Pink Door. She received a 25-year volunteer award in 2003 and a certificate of special recognition.
She loved the mountains, traveling and all animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Vivian Sclupp.
She is survived by two nieces Marilanne S. Bice of Longmont and Nancy J. Ohara of Topeka, Kan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St., Boulder 80302. The Revs. Martin McMane and David Jaeger will officiate. Internment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Park. Contributions may be sent to the Boulder Humane Society, 2325 55th St., Boulder 80301. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crist Mortuary of Boulder.
ANDERSON, Joseph Carl
Jan. 5, 1942 - Nov. 5, 2004
Joseph Carl Anderson of Longmont died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Longmont, after hospitalization for health problems. He was 62 years old.
He was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Loveland, to Joseph Riley and Ruth Fay (Lesser) Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in Greeley and left high school during his junior year to work.
In 1969 Mr. Anderson moved to Longmont, where he remained until his death. He worked at the post office in Boulder and retired after 27 years of service.
Mr. Anderson loved reading history and religious books and had a collection of both.
There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 1721 Red Cloud Road in Longmont. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Greeley.
Arrangements have been made with Howe Mortuary in Longmont.
