BENTON, Lorraine

June 17, 1934 - Sept. 4, 2004

Lorraine M. Benton of Longmont died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. She was 70.

Mrs. Benton was born June 17, 1934, to David and Irene (Byers) Pattersen in Long Beach, Calif.

She married Ernest H. Benton on Nov. 10, 1956, in Long Beach. While living there, she worked for Gladys Morgan Beauty Salons, where she competed in many hair shows and won several trophies for hair design. She also worked as a model.

Mrs. Benton moved in 1961 to Santa Maria, Calif., where she owned two women's dress shops. In 1967, she and her husband moved to Longmont and she became a homemaker.

In 1990, she became a partner in the Golden Comb Beauty Salon in Longmont. She retired in 2000 and began traveling with her husband. She loved to read, paint, make crafts and arrange flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Corey Benton.

Mrs. Benton is survived by her husband, Ernie Benton of Longmont; one son, Curtis Benton and his wife, Karen, of Longmont; two daughters, Carolyn Benton of Dallas, Texas, and Kara Sullivan and her husband, Rick, of Orange, Calif.; two brothers, Coleman Kells and his wife, Lisa, of Riverside, Calif., and Mike Kells of Riverside, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Heather and Alyssa Benton of Longmont, and Matthew and Blake Sullivan of Orange, Calif.

No visitation is scheduled. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel. Services will conclude at the chapel.

BOBO, Elsie

BOBO, Elsie, 81, of Longmont, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, of natural causes at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. She is survived by two sons, Keith Bobo of Louisville and Kirk Bobo of Superior; and two grandchildren. No local services will be held.

DAVIS, Juanita Arline

Nov. 23, 1925 - Sept. 5, 2004

Juanita Arline Davis of Longmont died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Walter and Katherine (Brown) Hammel.

She married Roy Davis on May 18, 1945, in Keokuk.

Mrs. Davis moved to Longmont from Iowa in 1959.

A homemaker, she loved to work crossword puzzles, crochet, play bingo and spend time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mary K. Ghesquiere and her husband Mark of Milliken and Carla Larabee and her husband Bill of Alamosa; a brother, Archie Jim Hammel of Keokuk; five grandchildren, Jeff Pape and his wife Donna, Greg Pape and his wife Traci, Kim Pape and her fiancé Wes, Patrick Larabee and his wife Senta and Dan Larabee and his wife Chryl; and 11 great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at Foothills Gardens of Memory at a later time.

MALAN, Kris

May 24, 1961 - Sept. 4, 2004

Kris Malan of Erie died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at her home. She was 43.

She was born May 24, 1961, in Ogden, Utah to Lloyd and Mary (Bushman) Malan.

Ms. Malan moved from Portland, Ore. to Fort Collins in 1972. She moved to Boulder County in 1986, first living in Louisville and then moving to Erie in 2000.

She was a graduate of Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. She attended Mesa Junior College, later graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in early childhood education.

She married Dennis Gautreau Aug. 12, 1995, in Evergreen.

Ms. Malan was a homemaker and mother. She will be remembered as a No. 1 mom, a dance mom and as her sons baseball coach.

Ms. Malan also helped with her mothers business, Mountain Gate Door and Trim in Arvada. With her husband, she operated Sunset Dive and Travel in Loveland. She enjoyed sailing, diving and traveling.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Chad Petersen of Erie; a daughter, Allie Petersen of Erie; her father and his wife Ann Hall of Longmont; her mother of Thornton; a brother, Scott Malan of Fort Collins; and her dog, Little Mister.

A celebration of life service will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a brief memorial service at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at Izaak Walton Park, 18 South Sunset St. in Longmont. Dress for this service is casual attire. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chad and Allie Petersen Education Fund in care of Scott Malan at Home State Bank, 935 N. Cleveland Ave. Loveland 80537.

MARCY, Etta M.

Dec. 20, 1918 - Sept. 8, 2004

Etta Marie Marcy of Longmont died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 85.

She was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Scott County, Kan., to Delbert E. and Helen (Deaton) Roark. She attended school in Scott City, Kan., and graduated from high school in 1937. She lived at home and, with her sister, supported her mother after her fathers death.

She married Jules Verne Marcy in 1944 in Scott City. In 1952, the couple moved to Hygiene, and started an egg farm. They built three homes together, one in Kansas and two in Hygiene.

Mrs. Marcy was active in the Hygiene Elementary School PTA, chaired the school paper drives and was always home to greet her children after school.

Later in her life, Mrs. Marcy also babysat many neighborhood children. She will be remembered as a second mother to many.

She was a member of the Rebeccas and was a member of the Hygiene Cemetery Association. She worked as a clerk at the Hygiene Post Office before her retirement.

Her hobbies included sewing, baking pies, canning, and making crafts. Her jellies and jams earned her the nickname of The Jelly Lady of Hygiene.

Mrs. Marcy was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Keith Marcy; and a brother, Melvin Roark.

She is survived by her daughter, Vernetta Dalbec and her husband Fred of Helena, Mont., a daughter-in-law, Charlene Marcy of Cañon City; a sister, Gladys Newsom of Longmont; grandchildren, Shannon Marcy and his wife Wendi of Wellston, Okla., Marie Puryear and her husband Scott of Casper, Wyo., Leslie Seufer and her husband Thane and Lisa Marcy of Colorado Springs; step-grandchildren, Richard, Mike and Gina Dalbec of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Howe Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Hygiene Methodist Church with inurnment to follow at the Hygiene Cemetery. Howe Mortuary is handling cremation arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Hygiene Methodist Church or to the Hygiene Cemetery Association.

MENDOZA, Esteban Duran

June 12, 1936 - Sept. 5, 2004

Esteban Duran Mendoza of Estes Park passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004. He was 68.

He was born June 12, 1936, in Villa Union, Coah, Mexico, to Adolpho and Catalina Mendoza.

Mr. Mendoza came to the United States as a farm laborer. He worked as a sheep shearer, meat cutter, auto body repairman and mechanic. His hobbies included fishing and cooking Mexican meals for his family and friends.

He married Oralia Rosas in February of 1954.

He married Margaret Wright in July of 1980.

He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.

Mr. Mendoza was preceded in death by a son, Eric Randall.

Mr. Mendoza is survived by a brother, Aaron Mendoza of Waukegan, Ill., the only survivor of 12 siblings; his wife, Margaret Mendoza of Estes Park; his children, Enedelia Mendoza of Vancouver, Wash., Graciela and Steven Sholler of Bennett, Colo., Esteban and Deidre Mendoza of Vancouver, Wash., Gema and Scott Campbell of Apple Valley, Minn., Virgina and Don Lilly of Longmont, Susan and Rodney ONeal of Little Rock, Ark., Joe and Mae Mendoza of Severance, Colo., Miranda and Juan Salazar of Dallas, Jacobo Mendoza of Estes Park, Marci Kean of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Keelee and Scott Doan of Estes Park, Lela and Dave Price of Greeley and Todd Randal of Minden, Nev.; 30 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, at the United Methodist Church, 1509 Fish Hatchery Road, off Highway 34 West, in Estes Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Mendozas name to Habitat for Humanity.

ORRICK, Dawn Lynette

Jan. 30, 1970 - Sept. 3, 2004

A memorial will be held for Dawn, who passed unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, after a long period of post-surgical complications. The service will be Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, in Lafayette (one block south of South Boulder Road).

Dawn was born to Robert Keith and Donna Charlene (Reeves) Bee on Jan. 30, 1970, in Visalia, Calif. The family moved to a farm for several years in Williams, Calif., and then to Reno, Nev., where she attended high school.

She married Christopher J. Orrick, her high school sweetheart, and became the loved and loving mother of three wonderful children. When need called, Dawn undertook the close care of her mother, who was dying of cancer, for the last three years before her mothers passing. Dawn and Chris went separate ways in 2002.

Dawn was intent on being fit and having a healthy lifestyle and she chose to have stomach bypass surgery to alleviate a long time and hereditary weight challenge.

Dawn and Eric W. Beeson found each other on the Internet and shared great love and happiness in each others company. After moving to Longmont to be with Eric, she decided to purchase a tanning salon and was very happy and very good at operating it. She touched many hearts that came to her to receive the light of Dawn to their tanning benefit and contentment. Dawn received a ring on Aug. 27 of this year and she and Eric were planning a formal engagement and marriage the day she passed.

Dawn will be remembered as a lesson of loving and enjoying life to all. She appreciated and cared for all she connected with.

She is survived by her three children, Kyra, CJ and Mandy; her friend for life and father of her children, Chris; her new life partner and fiancé, Eric; her two sisters, Tracey and Kellie; and her father, Robert. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

PICKERELL, Lawrence

PICKERELL, Lawrence, 86, of Longmont, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at Boulder Community Hospital.

ROBINSON, A. Taylor

April 24, 1918 - Sept. 6, 2004

Taylor Robinson of Longmont died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 86.

Mr. Robinson was born April 24, 1918, to James and Pearl Ellen (Taylor) Robinson in Bradford, Tenn.

He was born and raised on a farm in Tennessee. In 1937, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Yorktown. He was honorably discharged in 1941.

On July 16, 1942, Mr. Robinson married Dorothy G. Fly in Gibson, Tenn.

He worked at Milan Arsenal until 1943, when he was recalled back into naval service and served in the Pacific theater on a destroyer. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Mr. Robinson then started his insurance business in Jackson, Tenn. In 1970, he sold his business and moved to Federal Way, Wash. and started a printing business with his brother-in-law, Richard Fly. In 1989, he retired to Longmont to be near his daughters. He was a member of Longmont Church of Christ. He enjoyed golf and meeting people. He was an elder in three different churches. He loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, F.H. Robinson, Lemuel Robinson, J.W. Robinson and Dorris G. Robinson; and three sisters, Lona Lee Swanson, Geneva Newbill, and Ora Lou Baker.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 62 years; a son, Bill Robinson and his wife Marie of Clairton, Pa.; two daughters, Janet Madden of Boulder and Margie Gray of Longmont; seven grandchildren, Joshua Robinson of Arlington, Va., Aaron Robinson and his wife Kelly of St. Louis, Mo., Noah Robinson of Kansas City, Mo., Molly Bursey and her husband Chach of Little Rock, Ark., Sarah Lair and husband Mike of Little Rock, Luke Gray and Megan Gray, both of Longmont; and one great-grandchild, Grace Robinson of St. Louis.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Longmont Church of Christ with Bob Lewis officiating. Services will conclude at the church.

SATER, Timothy David

Aug. 3, 1955 - Sept. 6, 2004

Timothy David Sater, born to Alfred and Lorraine (Embree) Sater on Aug. 3, 1955, in Longmont, passed away on Sept. 6, 2004, in Longmont.

Timothy Sater was raised outside of Longmont and graduated from Valley High School.

On May 8, 1976, he married Sara Kay Otenberger. Tim and Sara then established their home and family in Platteville. Tim worked in the oil field for 31 years and had recently started his own oil field service company named Sater Tools and Service, LLC. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting and playing paintball.

Timothy was an amazing, wonderful, loving man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be loved and missed dearly.

Timothy Sater is survived by his wife Sara Sater; his two daughters, Melissa April Sater and Cyndithia Marie Sater; his parents Alfred and Lorraine Sater; his brother Paul Sater and his wife Cindy; his two sisters, Marjorie Sater and Rashelle (Sater) Richardson and her husband Jeff; his dog MJ; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Bostick Funeral Home, 806 N. Denver Ave., Fort Lupton, Thursday evening between 4 and 7 p.m. Funeral services to be held Friday Sept. 10, at noon at Bostick Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inc., in care of Bostick Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Fred

Dec. 1, 1915 - Sept. 5, 2004

Fred Schneider of Longmont, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 88.

Mr. Schneider was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Windsor, to Gottfried and Kathryn (Young) Schneider.

On Dec. 3, 1942, he married Nelda C. Borgmann in Denver.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army 713th Railway Operational Battalion throughout the African and European theaters.

Prior to entering the service, Mr. Schneider was a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad. Upon his return, he became involved in the construction and maintenance field. He was an outdoor person who enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. In his retirement years he also enjoyed traveling by RV.

Mr. Schneider was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont, and of the Elks Lodge No. 1777 in Lakewood.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Schneider is survived by his wife of 61 years; and an extended loving family of relatives and friends.

No visitation is scheduled. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1335 Francis St., with the Rev. Kent Schnegelberger officiating. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
