Sierer, Jeffrey David
Sept. 14, 1964 - July 2004
Jeffrey David Sierer of Norton, Kan., formerly of Longmont, was found dead in his home in Norton on July 10, 2004. He was 39. His exact date of death is under investigation.
He was born Sept. 14, 1964, to Warren and Carolyn Joyce (Fox) Sierer.
Mr. Sierer grew up in California and graduated from the Glendale High School in Glendale, Calif., with the class of 1982. He also attended California State University in North Ridge, Calif. He remained in California for several years before moving to Longmont, and had been living in Norton for the past year. He was a personnel director in human resources.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and coached youth sports. He was an avid golfer and sports fan and enjoyed reading and trivia.
Mr. Sierer was preceded in death by his grandparents; Warren Herbert, Shirley Sierer and Roy Hickman; and an uncle, David Sierer.
He is survived by his father, Warren Howard Sierer and his wife Mary Beth of St. George, Utah; his mother, Carolyn Applegate and her husband Stanley of Norton and Goodland, Kan.; his maternal grandmother, Opal Hickman Dunn of Loveland; a half-brother, Todd Sierer and his wife Katie of Provo, Utah; a sister, Melinda Elzinga and her husband Steve of Longmont; a half-sister, Elizabeth Sierer of Provo; a niece, Anneke; two nephews, Samuel and Ethan Elzinga of Longmont; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 West Main, in Norton with Galen Penner officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jeff Sierer Memorial Fund and Second Chance Homeless Pet Society.
Friends may call from 3 to 8:30 p.m. at the Enfield Funeral Home in Norton on Wednesday, July 14. Enfield Funeral Home of Norton is handling arrangements in Kansas.
Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Mountain View Cemetery. Ahlberg Funeral Chapel is handling local arrangements.
SMITH, Adam
July 18, 1918 - July 11, 2004
Adam Smith of Longmont, formerly of Denver, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 85.
He was born July 18, 1918, in Mead to John F. and Amelia (Miller) Smith.
Mr. Smith grew up in Mead and married Ann Mary Urban on Feb. 11, 1941, in Frederick.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from March 6, 1942, to Oct. 11, 1945, with service in the European Theater in Normandy, the Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France.
He was an industrial mechanic with the Pete Honen Heavy Duty Equipment Company.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Denver. He liked fishing and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed dancing, flower gardening and going to Black Hawk.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife.
He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ziegler and her husband Gene of Fort Morgan; a brother, Joe Smith of Longmont; a sister, Mollie Dagenhart of Fort Lupton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Flaska officiating.
Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. July 15, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with Deacon Bob Howard officiating.
Ahlberg Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
STARBUCK, Richard T.
July 4, 1932 - July 8, 2004
Richard Thompson Starbuck of Longmont died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 72.
Mr. Starbuck was born July 4, 1932, in Holyoke, Colo., to Gordon and Frances (Thompson) Starbuck. He was raised in Longmont.
He married Verneal North in Longmont on Sept. 22, 2000.
He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1957 and achieved the rank of staff sergeant.
He was an insurance agent for 25 years, working in New Mexico and Colorado. He was an employee for Rocky Mountain Christian Church for the last nine years.
He was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church.
He enjoyed watching old Western movies, being at his cabin in the mountains, reading and playing golf.
Mr. Starbuck was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of Longmont; a son, Terry Ray Starbuck and his wife Cheryl of Dallas, Texas; four stepsons, William Terry Chaffin and his wife Sherry of Longmont; George Gary Chaffin and his wife Susan of Chicago; Charles Larry Chaffin and his wife Vicki of Harrisburg, Ill., and Jerry L. Chaffin and his wife Christina of Red Feather Lakes; four daughters, Lori Starbuck of Lafayette; Tracy Moss and her husband Gordon of Midland, Texas, Becky Ogas and her husband Barney of Amarillo, Texas, and Francie Brimage and her husband Chuck of Highlands Ranch; a stepdaughter, Lee Ostling of Buena Vista; a brother, Gene Starbuck and his wife Alice of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Frances Moore of California; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be prior to services on Monday, July 12, and the Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Rocky Mountain Christian Church with Cris Crisfield of the church officiating. Cremation will follow services at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

BEASLEY, Earl M.
Nov. 23, 1917 - July 14, 2004
Earl M. Beasley of Pekin, Ill., died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, of natural causes, at Pekin Hospital. He was 86.
He was born Nov. 23, 1917, in Chester County, Tenn., to Elbert and Ida (Gordon) Beasley.
He married Euple L. Britt on Nov. 2, 1940, in Henderson, Tenn.
Mr. Beasley was a farmer in Tennessee before he joined the military, obtaining the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his service, he worked as a spray painter at Caterpillar Tractor Co. He retired in April 1980.
Mr. Beasley was a member of the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church and of the Union of Auto Workers Local No. 974. He also was a member of the Cat Retirees Club.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Beasley is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry Beasley and his wife Mary of Pekin; two daughters, Carol Beasley of Peoria, Ill., and Cathey Edwards and her husband Harry of Pekin; a sister, Ester Czarnek and her husband Ray of Longmont; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Woolsey Funeral home in Pekin. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Najpaver officiating.
Interment and military honors will take place at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

BURCH, Daniel
Nov. 3, 1920 - July 19, 2004
Daniel Burch of Longmont died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 83.
He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Longmont to Robert and Katie (Brenning) Burch.
Mr. Burch grew up on a farm near Mead and graduated from Mead High School in 1940. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in England.
In April 1956, he married Pauline Polly Kleinow in Fort Collins and they moved to Boulder in 1960. He moved to Longmont in 1994.
Mr. Burch worked at Rocky Flats for 17 years as a machinist. He had a great love for camping, fishing, and going on trips with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
He is survived by a daughter, Dana Burch of Greeley; two granddaughters, Heather and Katie; a great-grandchild, Corey; a brother, Robert Burch Sr. of Mead; a sister, Helen Reed of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Howe Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont, officiated by the Rev. Bill Lee.
Interment will take place at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the funeral with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 32 Honor Guard.

BUTLER, Ruth, 99, of Longmont, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Applewood Living Center.
EVERLY, Gilbert
Sept. 27, 1911 - July 17, 2004
Gilbert Everly of Longmont passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. He had a malignant brain tumor. He was 92.
He was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Fulton County, Ill., to Arch B. and Elizabeth M. (Dunham) Everly.
Gil attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., where he played football and met the love of his life, Geraldine E. Mays, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1934, in Kiowa, Kan.
Mr. Everly had a long career as a teacher and coach, beginning in Astoria, Ill., where he coached and taught math. He moved to Estes Park in 1937, where he taught and coached all sports at Estes Park High School.
In 1948, he came to Longmont and Longmont High School. He taught chemistry and coached for 25 years, 23 years as the head football coach. He retired in 1973. During these years, Coach Everly consistently challenged for and won many Northern Conference titles and won back-to-back state titles in 1954 and 1955.
He has been honored for his contributions by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, former University of Colorado Coach Bill McCartney, and the St. Vrain Valley School District with the inclusion of his name on the district football stadium, Everly-Montgomery Field.
Gil was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he was very active. He served as an Elder, on committees and taught various Sunday school classes for many years. He loved his church and enjoyed studying the Bible.
He was a former member of the Longmont Lions Club.
Following his retirement, he and Geraldine enjoyed fishing, traveling and genealogy. He loved to visit with former students and coaches.
His family remembers him as a loving father. Gil especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He felt his family was a blessing from God.
His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 1994. Gil is survived by a son, John Walter Everly and his wife, Esther, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Ann Ryan and her husband, Pat, of Parker; four grandchildren, David Everly, Jane Everly, Mike Ryan and his wife, Lee Ann, and Kathy Kurz and her husband, David; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Peter and Jonathon Kurz, and Lindsey and Danielle Ryan.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends.
Private burial at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at LifeBridge Christian Church, with the Rev. Glenn Perica, the Rev. Pete Seiferth and the Rev. Marilyn Creel officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
FOWLER, Nathan Henry
March 19, 1900 - July 14, 2004
Nathan Henry Fowler, known as Uncle Bud, died July 14, 2004, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was 104.
Mr. Fowler was born March 19, 1900, in Tishomitigo, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma.
He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1920 in Colorado and was given a medical discharge on Oct. 13, 1922. He served in China and the Philippines. In 2003, he was honored for being one of the oldest living Marines.
Mr. Fowler worked as a farmer, horse trainer, cowboy, truck driver, produce dealer and ice salesman. He also operated his own mechanic shop in Amarillo, Texas, for many years.
He and his family lived in Amarillo for many years and were longtime members of the Church of Christ. Following the death of his wife, he moved to Oklahoma. He later moved to Colorado to live with relatives.
Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his wife, Bernie; a son, Henry Elmore Fowler; a daughter, Josephine Jenkins; his parents, James Alexander Fowler and Mary Elizabeth Whitmore Fowler; four sisters, Lida Ivy, Ida Leach, Clara McAnulty and Zolo Boutcher; two brothers, William Fowler and John Fowler; and several siblings who died in infancy.
Mr. Fowler is survived by three nieces, Opal Naill of Wiggins, Ida Lea Biederman of Longmont and Alma Ruth Froland of Martinez, Calif.; three nephews, David Fowler of Denver, Rodney Fowler of Longmont and Dr. R.A. Ivie Jr. of Azle, Texas; and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Amarillo with evangelist Craig Keel officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
GARCIA, Ana
Jan. 29, 1987 - July 14, 2004
Ana Luisa Garcia Peinado of Longmont died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 17.
She was born Jan. 29, 1987, in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ignacio and Candelaria (Peinado) Garcia.
Ana was a student at Skyline High School and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She came to Longmont in 1999 from Chihuahua.
She is survived by her parents of Longmont; a brother, Ignacio Garcia Peinado of Longmont; three sisters, Mayra Garcia Peinado, Claudia Garcia Peinado and Guadalupe Garcia Peinado, all of Longmont; and a nephew, Guadalupe Borrego.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 17 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Benito Hernandez of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Denver, celebrant.
Interment will be at the Foothills Gardens of Memory.
