VOAKE, Helen S.
Nov. 23, 1915 - May 26, 2004
Helen Sophie Voake of Longmont died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Peaks Care Center in Longmont. She was 88.
She was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Anthony Drechler and Ann (Jala) Drechler.
She was educated and raised in Dunellan, N.J. and graduated from Bound Brooks High School. She was a homemaker and beautician. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a longtime resident of the area.
She was kind and considerate of others and always had a cheerful nature. She enjoyed playing the piano and listening to classical music. She enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show and was very active at the church service at Peaks Care Center. She was loved and will be missed by the entire Peaks Care Center staff and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Voake; a brother; and two sisters.
She is survived by a son, Harold Voake Jr. of Aurora; two grandchildren, John Voake and Joe Voake, both of Longmont.
Graveside services will be Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery with Deacon Bob Howard of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel.
BALLARD, Floyd Hubert
Nov. 23, 1915 - June 6, 2004
Floyd Hubert Ballard of Longmont died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Berthoud Living Center. He was 88.
He was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Molt, Mont., to Ross and Essie (Perrine) Ballard.
Mr. Ballard served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He served with the Third Army Seventh Armor Division as a tank commander in the European theater. He was awarded a Purple Heart and an Oakleaf Cluster. The day he left New York for Europe on the Queen Mary was June 6, 1944 (D-Day) the day he died, 60 years later.
He married Catherine E. Fremgen Feb. 24, 1946, in Richmond Hills, N.Y.
Before his military service, Mr. Ballard worked on the construction of the Fort Peck dam and a mine tramway. After his military service, he worked for International Harvester servicing and selling farm equipment in Hardin, Mont. After his employment at International Harvester, he owned and operated his own construction business from 1980 until he moved to Longmont.
He grew up in Montana and returned there following his military service and marriage. He moved to Longmont in October 2001 from Hardin.
Mr. Ballard was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, playing bass drum in the VFW band in Hardin. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of Calvary Church in Longmont.
He will be remembered as a man who liked working hard and helping people. He also enjoyed fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife on April 1, 2002; two brothers, Howard and Vernon Ballard; and an infant sister.
He is survived by his son, Floyd Jack Ballard and his wife Jane M. of Longmont; two daughters, Janie E. Ballard of Seattle and Lori Ann Ballard of Helena, Mont.; a brother, Delbert Ballard; a sister, Thelma VanSky; and three grandchildren, John Ballard, Josh Ballard and Anne Delle Donne.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Giles of Calvary Church officiating. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud.
BANDERET, Francis Harrison
July 6, 1920 - May 22, 2004
Francis Harrison Banderet of Berthoud died Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Longmont.
He was born July 6, 1920, in Paxton, Neb., to Harry and Ella (Welch) Banderet.
After graduating from Paxton High School in 1938, Mr. Banderet farmed with his parents.
On Feb. 9, 1940, he married Nanna Elizabeth Beveridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Banderet moved to Colorado in 1956 with their sons and continued ranching and farming. In addition, Mr. Banderet was part owner of Banderet Equipment, Inc. for 25 years, a long time employee of Great Western Sugar and had invented and patented mobile irrigation equipment.
He enjoyed welding, spending time in his shop with his vintage tractors, traveling, fishing and walking the mountains on his property. He loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Banderet was preceded in death by an infant son, John H. Banderet.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Francis and George; a brother, Ralph Banderet of Carlsbad, Calif.; a sister, Marybelle Purbaugh of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Tyrone Banderet, Trevor Banderet, Tod Banderet, Rick Ramage and Cindy Kelley; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Paxton. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Berthoud First United Methodist Church, Ninth and Lake in Berthoud.

BANGLE, Mollie Lee Carter
Sept. 27, 1926 - Oct. 4, 2003
Mollie Lee Bangle died quietly in her home on the south shore of Lake Chelan, Wash., on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003. She had been a resident of Chelan for six months where she lived with her daughter, the Rev. Melinda St. Clair.
Mollie was born in Beaver City, Neb., on Sept. 27, 1926, the youngest of three children. She experienced the Great Depression and Dust Bowl years there with her family. As a teenager she moved with her mother to Longmont where she graduated from high school in 1944. Mollie worked as a medical and a dental assistant and traveled until her marriage to Darrel G. St. Clair. The couple made their home in Worland, Wyo., for the next 30 years where together they raised three children and built an insurance and real estate business.
In 1977, Mollie struck out on her own, first to California then settling in the Seattle area. She worked for 10 years in the emergency trauma center at Harborview Medical Center. While attending her 40th year class reunion in Longmont, Mollie was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Clay Bangle, to whom she had been engaged when World War II broke out. The couple finally wed at the age of 60 and made their home in Arroyo Grande, on the central coast of California, enjoying 11 years of marriage until his death in 1996. Mollie continued to live in Arroyo Grande until she moved to Chelan in April 2003.
Mollie was very active in the Episcopal Church as a lector, lay eucharistic minister and in healing services. She was devoted to Christian outreach activities, especially working in various parish thrift shops continuously throughout her life. She was an active member of P.E.O. for more than 55 years, and worked on various social activities in her community. In her younger years she was an avid skier and dancer, while later she enjoyed golf, bicycling, walking, landscaping, decorating and watching football, particularly the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.
Mollie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Peggy St. Clair of Port Townsend, Wash.; and her daughters, Nancy St. Clair of Concord, Calif., and Melinda St. Clair of Chelan; along with three grandchildren whom she adored, Jake, Zeke and Alyssa.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, at Foothills Gardens of Memory, where inurnment of ashes will take place. A reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 1303 S. Bross Lane in Longmont.
BARDESSONA, Johnny Joseph Jr.
Nov. 13, 1949 - June 4, 2004
Johnny Joseph Bardessona Jr. of Dacono died Friday, June 4, 2004, at North Suburban Medical Center. He was 54.
Mr. Bardessona was born Nov. 13, 1949, in Florence to Johnny Joseph Sr. and Dorothy Scutti Bardessona.
He attended Gunnison High School and Mesa State Pueblo Community College.
Mr. Bardessona was divorced. He moved to Longmont in 1983 from Gunnison.
He worked for Denver Ready Mix, Goldens Concrete, Savage Trucking Concrete and other trucking companies.
Mr. Bardessona was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his father of Denver; two daughters, Mindy Allhands and her husband Brad of Dacono and Rhonda Kay Wright of Longmont; one brother, Gary Bardessona; one sister, Barbara Cameron; one grandson, Tanner Allhands of Dacono; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at Rinn United Methodist Church.
Tabor Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
BENGTSON-DILLIE, Deborah Denon 'Debbie'
March 21, 1953 - June 3, 2004
Deborah Denon Debbie Bengtson-Dillie of Tulsa died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her family residence. She was 51.
Ms. Bengtson-Dillie was born March 21, 1953, in Enid, Okla., to Olof F. Buddy and Marian P. (Childers) Bengtson.
In 1958, she moved with her family to Englewood. In 1962, the family moved to Longmont where Ms. Bengtson-Dillie continued her education and graduated in 1971 from Longmont High School.
In 1972, she married Michael D. McKeenon in Scottsbluff, Neb.
In 1996, she returned to Oklahoma where she was employed by Cingular Wireless and was a member of the Christian faith.
Ms. Bengtson-Dillie was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by a daughter, Heather Michelle Lyon of Oklahoma City; her mother of Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Lori Bengtson Gance and her husband Robert of Mead, two brothers, Olof Bart Bengtson and his wife Cindy of Longmont and Matthew D. Bengtson and his wife Ellen of Naper, Neb.; a granddaughter, Cristie Lyon; a grandson, Reid Lyon, both of Nebraska; two aunts; two uncles; eight nieces and nephews; and two great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Memory Chapel of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence, 621 S. Johnstone Ave., Bartlesville, Okla., with the Rev. Dr. Joe Dan Fowler, senior minister of the First Baptist Church, officiating. The Arnold Moore Funeral Service directed private family committal prayers and final rites.

BIGGS, Charlene
May 6, 1924 - June 5, 2004
Jo Charlene Biggs of Longmont, formerly of Boulder, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville following a long battle with cancer. She was 80.
She was born May 6, 1924, in Council Grove, Kan., to Carter and Josephine (Acton) Dacy.
Mrs. Biggs spent her youth in Oklahoma and moved to Boulder at age 12. She graduated from Boulder High School in 1943.
She married Donald O. Biggs on Dec. 22, 1941, in Boulder. The couple lived and raised their family in Boulder before she settled in Longmont in the late 1980s.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Biggs enjoyed her family, University of Colorado Football, was an election judge and also was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Willa Jean Golliher; her father; and her stepfather, Fred Weber.
Mrs. Biggs is survived by her mother of Longmont; her sons, Donald Biggs and his wife Joyce, of Boulder, Ronnie Biggs and his wife Velma of Loveland and Charles Biggs and his wife, Joan, of Avondale, Ariz.; a daughter, Patricia Allen of Loveland; a brother, Frederick Weber and his wife Sharon of Saugatuck, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
No visitation is scheduled. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary, Longmont.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Howe Mortuary, Longmont with the Rev. Julie Parmenter officiating.

DEVENY, Alpha Lorene
March 2, 1928 - Dec. 28, 2003
Alpha Lorene DeVeny of Nampa, Idaho, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Holly Care Center in Nampa. She was 75.
She was born March 2, 1928, in Speed, Kan., to Lloyd and Nellie (Olds) Parker.
She married Willard E. DeVeny in Alliance, Neb., on May 3, 1946.
Mrs. DeVeny was employed in retail food service until her retirement in 1992. She was a longtime resident of the Front Range region, living in Lyons, Boulder, Longmont and Fort Collins. Mrs. DeVeny lived in Wellington from 1979 to 1992, when she moved to Idaho to live with her son, Curtis and his wife Janice.
She loved to travel, bowl, go to casinos and play slot machines. Mrs. DeVeny was an avid reader and a fan of football and baseball. She also enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her rose bushes. In addition to her own grandchildren, she will be remembered as Grandma Alpha to several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. DeVeny was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William DeVeny; and a sister, Ival Lake.
She is survived by two sons, Curtis DeVeny and his wife, Janice of Nampa and Ronald DeVeny and his wife Shirley of Lyons; a daughter, Patsy Teetzel and her husband Bob of Grove, Okla.; a brother, J.A. Parker and his wife Pat of Fernley, Nev.; two sisters, Audree LeGrow of Rohnert Park, Calif., and Carol Ann Greary and her husband Conley of Pinedale, Wyo.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
No visitation is scheduled.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Foothills Gardens of Memory.
Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel is holding services.
DIKE, Arthur
May 24, 1928 - June 5, 2004
Arthur James Dike of Longmont died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at his home. He was 76.
He was born May 24, 1928, in Sterling to William and Pearl (Simmons) Dike.
Mr. Dike lived in Boulder from 1937 to 1975, when he moved to Longmont. He remained in Longmont until his death.
He married Charlene Louise Miller on June 30, 1972, in Boulder.
He did construction work and raised livestock most of his life. He worked for the city of Boulder Waste Water Treatment Plant for 21 years, retiring in 1986 as a plant superintendent.
Mr. Dike had been a member of the Valmont Presbyterian Church in Boulder.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Dike.
Mr. Dike is survived by his wife of Longmont; two stepsons, David of New York and Steven and his wife Candace of Denver; a stepdaughter, Heather and her husband Chad of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sisters, June Ecton of Longmont and Ester Allen of Apple Valley, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Sherry Dike of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Tyler, Sean and Christopher of Bella Vista; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain T.R. Sheforgen of HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties officiating.
Interment will be held in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
