WRIGHT, Ona E.
May 19, 1918 - March 29, 2004
Ona E. Wright of Longmont died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 85 years old.
Ona was born May 19, 1918, in West Plains, Mo., to James Allen Ledbetter and Ruby Opfilia Mahan. She grew up and attended schools in West Plains.
Ona married James Fred Wright on Oct. 9, 1937, in West Plains. The couple made their home there until 1951 when they moved to a farm south of Longmont. Fred died in 1983.
Mrs. Wright was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family and taking care of the family on the farm. In later years, she worked for the St. Vrain Valley School District and for Longmont Foods. She had been a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church in West Plains. In Longmont, she was active with the Womens Missionary Society and Longmont Church of Christ. Ona had served as a 4-H leader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans, canning fruits and vegetables, baking, especially cookies for everyone who came to visit, singing, reading her Bible and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family takes comfort in her freedom now that she is with the Lord.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her sons, James M. Wright and his wife Pat of Longmont, Don R. Wright and his wife May of Longmont, Charles R. Wright and his wife Linda of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dennis F. Wright and his wife Darlene of Albuquerque; a step-daughter, Janice Hastings and her husband Lyle of Longmont; two brothers, Floyd Ledbetter and his wife Hazel of West Plains and David U. Ledbetter of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Shirley Fay Bolen of Sapulpa, Okla. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Marian Knopp of Longmont; numerous nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren, Carla Wright, Rex Wright and Rick Wright, all of Longmont, Randy Wright of Houston, Robert Wright, Kaylene Savage, Tammy Wright and Stephanie Wright, all of Albuquerque, Kevin Hastings of Berthoud, Joe Hastings of San Diego, Calif., and Sonya Crider of Berthoud, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Fred Wright and Francis Boutcher; three brothers, Vernis, Eldon and Earl Ledbetter; and a sister, Lois August Romans.
A visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Thursday, April 1, from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at Howe Mortuary, Longmont with the Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont.

BOMAR, Della
April 26, 1927 - May 22, 2004
Della Marie Bomar of Longmont died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at her home. She was 77.
She was born April 26, 1927, in ODonnell, Texas, to Harvey Monroe and Ruby Lee (Athey) Tucker.
She married Robert Bomar on Oct. 9, 1946, in Childress, Texas. The couple lived and raised their three children in Fort Worth, Texas. She moved to Colorado in 1991 from Arizona.
Mrs. Bomar enjoyed sewing, crafts and spending time with family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and The Lions Club.
She will be remembered for the unconditional love she showed her family and many friends and for her dedication to her disabled son.
Mrs. Bomar was preceded in death by her husband; and her oldest son, Mack Butch Tucker.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Ann of Longmont; a son, Billy Fred of Longmont; a daughter-in-law, Deb Tucker of Longmont; a sister, Darlene Mitchell of Oceanside, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Robert Kittler of Longmont, Ashlee Bomar of California, Wanda Elliott of Lakeworth, Texas, and Tammy Love of Childress, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and six nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with David Bradshaw officiating. A cremation has been held at the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.

BURROWS, Phil
Oct. 29, 1934 - May 28, 2004
Phil Burrows of Longmont died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Applewood Living Center. He was 69.
Mr. Burrows was born Oct. 29, 1934, to Robert Donald and Flossie Ada (Haney) Burrows in Tipton, Okla.
He received his elementary through high school education in Oklahoma schools before attending Abilene Christian College for two years.
On June 6, 1958, he married Adagene Dallas at the Church of Christ in Clayton, N.M.
A year later, Mr. Burrows began his career as a minister for Undenominational Churches of Christ. From 1959 to 1982, he worked in churches in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
In July 1974, he moved from Gillette, Wyo., to Longmont, where he continued his ministerial career.
In addition to his work in Longmont, Mr. Burrows supported the work of missionaries in India and Africa and was a house parent at Mountain States Children Home.
Following his retirement from the ministry, he worked at Beech Aircraft for five years and IBM for 10 years.
He enjoyed listening to country music and liked the great outdoors
Mr. Burrows was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Carl R., Grady B., Jim F. and Don E. Burrows.
He is survived by his wife of Longmont; two sons, Bruce E. Burrows of Longmont and Daryl L. Burrows of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Karesa K. Stephenson of Syracuse, Utah, and Sheri Richards Rohde of Ogden, Utah; one brother, Gary F. Burrows of Norwalk, Calif.; four grandchildren, Brittany and Erika Stephenson of Syracuse, Utah, and Charity and Carly Richards of Ogden, Utah; one great-grandchild, Alana Hymel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with Darrell Hymel officiating. Interment will take place at Foothills Gardens of Memory.

DAVIES, Kenneth A.
Dec. 13, 1932 - Feb. 24, 2004
Kenneth A. Davies of Yuma, Ariz., formerly of Longmont, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was 71.
He was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Worland, Wyo., to Charles and Alma (Hodson) Davies.
While attending Longmont High School, he participated in track and other sports. Mr. Davies graduated from Longmont High School in 1950.
He married Gwendolyn Meador of Hotchkiss in December 1955.
He graduated from Colorado State University in 1956 with a bachelor of science degree and received his masters degree in 1967 from Arizona State University. He taught industrial arts and social studies for 32 years in Colorado, California, Oklahoma, and at Woodard Junior High School in Yuma prior to retiring in 1993.
Mr. Davies was a lifelong Christian and spent 15 years teaching and working in a Christian school. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Yuma and was active in the Church until his death.
A skilled wood craftsman, he was active in the Yuma Potpourri Artists, serving as secretary-treasurer and also serving three years as superintendent of crafts and hobbies for the Yuma County Fair.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Mark and his wife Janine of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Paul and his wife Marseana of Bueliton, Calif.; a sister, Beverly Swanty and her husband Norman of Paulden, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Ashley Davies of Rio Rancho; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Edith Bickel and Nona Davies of Longmont; an uncle and aunt, Neil and Ruth Davies of Lovell, Wyo.; and several cousins in the Longmont area.
Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Church of Christ, Fifth Avenue and 12th Street in Yuma.

HAMILL, Jack Evan, 75, of Longmont, died June 1, 2004, at HospiceCare Center in Louisville.
KNAUS, Thyrza
Feb. 27, 1912 - May 28, 2004
Thyrza L. Knaus of Longmont died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 92.
She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Niwot to Charlie and Louisa (Henry) Woodcock.
Mrs. Knaus was a descendant of a pioneer family. Her grandparents, Nimrod and Mellisa Henry, homesteaded in the Niwot area.
She married Glen Edward Knaus on Jan. 2, 1930, in Berthoud. Mr. Knaus family also was a pioneering family who homesteaded north of Niwot.
The couple lived and made their home on a farm north of Niwot.
They remained on the farm until Mr. Knaus retirement.
Mrs. Knaus attended the United Brethren Church in Niwot when she was young.
She enjoyed doing craft work of many different varieties. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, oil painting and other artistic projects.
Mrs. Knaus was a farm wife for most of her working years, doing all the work associated with life on the farm.
She was a 4-H leader when her children were growing up.
She worked at Holmes Shoe Store for several years as a sales clerk.
Mrs. Knaus was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Clemens Edward Skip Knaus; a daughter, Kathryn Brim; five brothers, Fred, Milton, Wesley, Chester and Edgar Woodcock; and four sisters, Luella Harnish, Beryl Krogh, Eloise May and Mellisa Anderson.
She is survived by a daughter, Gwen Kauffroath and her husband Roy of Bremerton, Wash.; a sister, Elmina Iams of Longmont; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 2, at Howe Mortuary.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
Chaplain Edward Wright will officiate.

LANDOLT, Fred
July 12, 1907 - May 23, 2004
Frederick George Landolt of Longmont died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at his residence. He was 96.
He was born July 12, 1907, in Omaha, Neb., to Balthasar and Bertha (Hodel) Landolt. The family moved to Longmont in 1917.
On Oct. 24, 1933, Mr. Landolt married Mary Lorene Vick at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.
He worked as an electrician his entire life and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 68 in Denver for most of his career. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Landolt was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading and traveling. With his wife, he traveled most of the United States, from Alaska to Florida.
Mr. Landolt was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Jean Landolt; a brother, Joseph Landolt; and a sister, Martha Ryan.
He is survived by four sons, Jack Landolt and his wife Pat of Red Feather Lakes, Jim Landolt and his wife Carol of Longmont, Dave Landolt and his wife Joanne of Longmont and Tom Landolt and his wife Patti of Easley, S.C.; four sisters, Jeanette Just and her husband Louis of Platteville, JoAnn Prucha and her husband Fran of Berthoud, Nancy Landolt and her husband Lewis Stickford of Tucson, Ariz., and Margie Staggers of Pratt, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. through the recitation of the rosary today, Tuesday, May 25, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Morrow as celebrant. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

MILLER, Wilbert, Sr.
Feb. 2, 1919 - May 21, 2004
Wilbert W. Miller Sr. of Longmont died Friday, May 21, 2004, in Longmont. He was 85.
He was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Greeley to Bertram and Belva (Ball) Miller.
Mr. Miller married Dorothy May Thompson, his high school sweetheart. She preceded him in death.
He owned and operated Raytown Sheet Metal for many years. He was in the sheet metal industry all his life.
Mr. Miller was an avid fisherman and spent his retirement years at the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and loved to travel, learning all he could about the foreign countries he visited. He loved to tell everyone he met how proud he was of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Wilbert Sonny and his wife Judy of Lenexa, Kan., Joseph and his wife Barbara of Littleton and Ronald and his wife Betty of Chicago; 11 grandchildren, Christina, Mark, Shannon, Patrick, Joseph Jr., Kimberly, Piper, Angie, Andrew, Nicole and Paul; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Waters of Craig; and several nieces.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 26, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 27, at the Amos Family Chapel in Lenexa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Local arrangements have been handled by the Howe Mortuary, Longmont. In Kansas, arrangements were made with Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa.
MIRELES, Mary Angelina
Aug. 19, 1929 - May 30, 2004
Angelina Angie Mireles of Erie died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Boulder Community Hospital. She was 74. Mrs. Mireles was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Wattenburg, Colo., to Raymond Cardona and Dora Aragon.
Angie married Panfilo Mireles on Jan. 13, 1952, in Longmont. The family moved permanently to Longmont in 1957 from Denver.
Mrs. Mireles was an active member of the Iglesia deCristo EL-IM Church, Longmont.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Ruth Mireles; two brothers, Frank Cardona and Lee Trujillo; and four sisters, Minnie Ayala, Emma Mireles, Lula Martinez and Mary Trujillo.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel Mireles and his wife Sheryl of Rock River, Wyo., Steven Mireles of Longmont and Tito Mireles of Loveland; a daughter, Becky Ramirez and her husband Jose of Erie; a sister, Rose Ortiz of Longmont; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 2, at the Howe Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Nestor Villalobos officiating. Interment will follow at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
