DAWSON, Virginia Consley

DAWSON, Virginia Consley, 90, a longtime resident of Longmont, died at a nursing home in Lakewood on Feb. 9, 2004. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary. A graveside memorial service with inurnment will take place at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Diane Martin of First Congregational United Church of Christ of Longmont officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Metro Denver, 425 S. Cherry St., Suite 700, Denver 80246.

GOMEZ, Tony O.

Sept. 15, 1915 - Feb. 7, 2004

Tony O. Gomez of Longmont died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Applewood Living Center. He was 88.

Mr. Gomez was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Aguilar, Colo., to Juan and Margarita (Pena) Gomez.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1944 when he was honorably discharged.

He moved to Longmont in 1946.

Mr. Gomez married Simonita Mireles in Boulder County.

He was a construction worker and belonged to the John Harold Buckley Post 32 of the American Legion.

Mr. Gomez attended the Spanish Four Square Church of Longmont. He enjoyed walking, being with his family, the outdoors, his children and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of Longmont; three sons, Tony Gomez Jr. of Longmont, Alex Gomez of Longmont and Raymond Paul Gomez and his wife Yanina of Longmont; two daughters, Shimmy Romero and her husband George of Loveland and Sarah Barrios and her husband Antonio of Longmont; a brother, Joe F. Gomez and his wife Rose of Longmont; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Gomez officiating.

Interment will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tony O. Gomez Memorial Fund in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

HUNSLEY, Carl L. 'Red'

Oct. 14, 1922 - Jan. 12, 2004

Carl L. 'Red' Hunsley of Lakewood, died Jan. 12, 2004, in Lakewood. He was 81.

Born Oct. 14, 1922, in Pierre, S.D., he was the son of James and Olive Walker Hunsley. He was raised in South Dakota.

Mr. Hunsley served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1949 attaining the rank of Sergeant lst Class. He was a roofer for a number of years in the Lakewood area. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 17, Lakewood.

Preceding him in death were his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include on son, Leland Hunsley of Kansas; one sister, Mildred Stuart of North Platte, Neb.; a niece, Helen Raber of Longmont; and two grandsons and many friends in the Lakewood area.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, with service and Military Honors being provided by Ft. Carson Honors Team.

Howe Mortuary, Longmont, is handling arrangements.

INMAN, Ethel Mae

May 10, 1908 - Feb. 6, 2004

Ethel Mae Inman of Longmont died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the Peaks Care Center. She was 95.

She was born May 10, 1908, in Eskridge, Kan., to Edward and Lillie (Mallory) Cooper.

On Sept. 27, 1936, she married Arlis Inman in Rocky Ford.

Mrs. Inman was the head cook and dieticians assistant at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Rocky Ford. She retired in 1973 after 18 years of service.

She moved to Longmont in December 1979 along with her husband. They were among the original group of residents at Hover Manor.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was very active. She will be remembered as a woman who loved Jesus. She loved her Bible and read from it daily. It was her practice to put others needs before her own.

Mrs. Inman was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, a wonderful mother and cherished mother-in-law, an adored grandmother, a beloved aunt and friend to many.

She enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and anyone who tasted it enjoyed it as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Richard Inman; one sister, Florence Swedhin; and several aunts, uncles, bothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one daughter, Vera Kidd, and husband, J.B. of Longmont; three grandchildren, Caryl Osborn and husband John of Las Vegas, Brian Kidd of Longmont and Denise Noble and Michael Dunn of Colorado Springs; three great-grandchildren, BreeAun Francis, Samantha Osborn and Emily Osborn; and by brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Moore officiating. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions to American Heart Association or American Stroke Association can be sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

LARSON, Ralph William Jr.

Sept. 8, 1919 - Feb. 4, 2004

Ralph William Larson Jr. of Longmont died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. He was 84.

Mr. Larson was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Rockford, Ill., to Ralph William Sr. and Florence Victoria (Swenson) Larson. He grew up and attended schools in Elgin, Ill., and then attended Northwestern University.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of first lieutenant. He served in Africa during World War II and in the Korean War.

Mr. Larson married Mary Jane Eaton on April 17, 1948, in Niles, Ohio. They lived in Hoffman Estates, Ill.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and then Longmont.

He was an insurance underwriter for Fred S. James Co. and later worked as the furniture sales manager for Wiebolts Department Store in Chicago. He retired in 1979. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, Oregon and California. He treasured his time collecting seashells on Sanibel Island, Fla., with his wife, and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Larson.

Mr. Larson is survived by his wife of Longmont; four sons, Jeffrey D. Larson and his wife Cheryl of Longmont, Gary W. Larson and his wife Ann of Lafayette, Richard A. Larson and his wife Kathleen of Louisville and Robert T. Larson and his wife Katie of Portland, Ore.; a brother, John Larson of Villa Park, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.

No visitation is planned. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Howe Mortuary, Longmont.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Central Presbyterian Church, 402 Kimbark St., Longmont, with the Rev. Glenn Perica officiating.

Interment with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Staging Area A.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter, Attn: Research, 789 Sherman St., Suite 500, Denver 80203-3532.

LARSON, Shirley Florence

Dec. 7, 1935 - Feb. 3, 2004

Shirley Florence Larson of Longmont died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Applewood Living Center. She was 68.

Born Dec. 7, 1935, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Alexander and Stella Mae (Allard) Ross. She married Charles Larson on March 9, 1955, in Fetter Hot Springs, Calif.

Her first job was at Woolworths in Denver after getting married. She became a farmers wife and also worked at Walls Clothing in Brighton. Through the years she worked at Bi-Rite Drug and Kmart until her illness no longer allowed her to work.

Mrs. Larson came to Longmont in 1961. She had a love for animals and an infectious smile, always putting others before herself. Her family was her life.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dale and his wife Tonya of Centennial, and Darrell of Berthoud; one daughter, Darla Hollingshead and her husband Ken of Berthoud; two brothers, Leland Ross and his wife Mary of Louisville, and Dean Ross and his wife Norma of Lafayette; one sister, Vaunda Wilson of Forrestville, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Aaron of Berthoud, Joshua, serving in the Air Force in Saudi Arabia, Josh, Nick, Luke and Priscilla of Centennial, and Joey and Maxi of Longmont.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Dr., Lafayette. The Rev. Jan Dewlen will officiate.

MARSH, Terry Lee

May 11, 1954 - Feb. 3, 2004

Terry Lee Marsh of Longmont died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 49.

Mr. Marsh was born May 11, 1954, in Burlington, Kan., to Byron and Nina Marsh. His family moved to Colorado when he was a young boy.

He graduated from Boulder High School and Boulder VoTech.

Mr. Marsh married Virginia DiPietro in Brooklyn, N.Y., and returned to Colorado in 1976. He lived in Boulder and Erie before moving to Longmont.

He had lived in Longmont for the last 16 years.

Mr. Marsh was a skilled machinist by trade and an inventor at heart. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed building things with his hands, including homes with his father.

He enjoyed sharing his extensive knowledge with others, as well as hiking and making scientific projects.

Mr. Marsh was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Etta Marsh and James Bryan and Mildred Cornwell.

He is survived by his wife of Longmont; a daughter, Amanda Monique Winona Marsh of Longmont; his father and stepmother Yvonne Marsh of Longmont; his mother, Nina Gelardi of Mississippi; a sister, Twyla Zink of Michigan; a stepbrother, Robert Marsh of Denver; five nieces; and six nephews.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by All States Cremation Services.

Memorial contributions may be made to fund his daughters college education in care of Virginia Marsh, 202 Sorento Place, Longmont 80501.

MARTINEZ, Richard C.

MARTINEZ, Richard C., 45, of Santa Fe, N.M., died Feb. 8, 2004, at his home. Howe Mortuary Longmont is handling arrangements. Vigil services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Urban officiating. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Colorado Affiliate, 2480 W. 26th Ave., Suite 120B, Denver 80211.

MILLER, Betty Duran

Jan. 18, 1926 - Feb. 5, 2004

Betty Duran Miller of Longmont died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 78.

Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Agar, S.D., to Joseph and Irene (Houck) Wargo.

On Jan. 22, 1947, she married Raymond B. Miller in Onida, S.D.

She moved to Longmont in 1958 from South Dakota.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker until 1971. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Goodyear Tire Center in Longmont and later the Louisville Recreation Center. She retired in 1989.

She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Mrs. Miller was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She enjoyed playing pinochle and bridge, and crocheting. She will be remembered as a great cook and a great mom who was dedicated to her family, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 2, 1971; two sisters, Lou Balk and Shirley Goode; a grandson, Burt Stringer; and a great-granddaughter, Melinda Grace Diaz.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two sons, Paul Matthew Miller and his wife Gail of Tacoma, Wash., and Michael R. Miller of Firestone; four daughters, Peggy A. Miller of Broomfield, Lorraine K. Williams and her husband Michael of Morrisville, N.C., Trish R. Stringer and her husband Dan of Mead and Renie Mayeda and her husband Alan of Longmont; three brothers, Howard Wargo and his wife Marie of Longmont, Tommy Wargo of Rapid City, S.D., and Steve Wargo of Longmont; a sister, Arlene Roy and her husband Al of Huntington Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Miller of Seattle, Gregory Miller of Denver, Raye Marie Diaz, Ryan Miller and Doug Miller, all of California, and Nicole Mayeda and Eric Mayeda, both of Longmont; and four great-grandchildren, Kylah Diaz, Devon Diaz, Jordan Miller and Alyssa Miller, all of California.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Flaska of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating.

Interment will be in Foothills Gardens of Memory.

Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

NUKAYA, William 'Bill' Masuo

Feb. 1, 1926 - Feb. 5, 2004

William 'Bill' Masuo Nukaya of Loveland died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in Loveland. He was 78.

Born Feb. 1, 1926, in Hillrose, Mr. Nukaya was the son of George and Kane Nukaya. He graduated from Hillrose High School in 1944 and moved to Fort Morgan in 1945. He retired from farming and moved to Loveland in 1991.

He enjoyed Western shows, Colorado sports, the Arizona Diamondbacks and CNN.

He loved to make people laugh and smile.

Mr. Nukaya is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Joanne Wood and husband Dennis of Louisville, Judy Dankert and husband Darren of Phoenix, and Joyce Nukaya of Loveland; three grandchildren, Emily and Brian Wood of Louisville and Dave Nukaya of Loveland; two brothers, Jim Nukaya and wife Grace of Wiggins, and Jack Nukaya and wife Caroline of Moreno Valley, Calif.; one sister, Tome Matsuura and husband Harry of Arlington, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Shogi Sakurada of Lakewood and Joe Sakurai of Torrance, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Allnutt Funeral Service Hunter Chapel.

PIERCE, Allyson L.

PIERCE, Allyson L., 32, of Portland, Ore., died suddenly on Jan. 30, 2004, of a brain aneurysm. She is survived by her husband Joe Pierce, also of Portland. She is the daughter of Bill Isernhagen and Nancy (Isernhagen) Lackey and the sister of Lisa Isernhagen Tharas. Memorial services were held in Portland for family and friends on Feb. 6. Memorial services are pending for Fort Collins.
