MONTEATH, IV, Donald Alexander Fraser

Donald Alexander Fraser Monteath IV of Englewood, formerly of Loveland, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Englewood. He was 36.
Mr. Monteath was born July 21, 1967, in Fort Collins to Donald Alexander Fraser III and Patte (Wolfe) Monteath.
He moved to Loveland in 1967 from Fort Collins and resided there until 1988.
Mr. Monteath graduated from Day Spring Christian High School in Greeley in 1986 where he played football.
He earned an associate of arts degree from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton and a bachelor of science degree in human sports and training from Metro State College in Denver.
Mr. Monteath served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1993 and was stationed in Germany.
He was a nuclear biohazard specialist, a member of the ski patrol, a certified scuba diver and an athletic trainer.
Mr. Monteath attended Peace Reformed Church in Loveland from 1973 until the time of this death.
He loved college football, the Colorado State University Rams and the Denver Broncos. He collected and painted miniature Napoleonic soldiers and was an avid snow skier.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Catherine Bonde and her husband Christopher of Lyons; a niece, Lauren Bonde of Lyons; and a nephew, Cole Bonde of Lyons.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Calvary Church, 2101 Gay St., with the Rev. Tom Hovestol of the church officiating.
Interment with full military honors has been performed at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Christian School Athletic Fund, 550 Coffman St., Longmont 80501.

OLIVAS, Georgina Paige
Aug. 5, 1990 - Nov. 27, 2003
Georgina Paige Olivas, a young artist, poet, lover of life and a member of the Fort Collins community since her birth on Aug. 5, 1990, made her graceful exit from the comfort of her home on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 2003, after a long and arduous struggle with an incurable brain tumor. She was 13 and a student at Boltz Junior High.
Georgina is survived by her mother, Lisa and her sister Erin (Fort Collins); her father Joe Olivas and half siblings, Rebecca, Mackenzie and Christian; Aunt Laura Olivas and cousins Larry Joe, Aurelio, Phillipe, David and Lily; Uncle Larry Olivas and cousins Seth, Joshua and Jacob (Greeley); her only surviving grandparents, George and Barbara Ortiz (Denver); Aunt Susie and Uncle Frank Rodriguez; cousins Rudy, Maggie and Dominique (Longmont); and Auntie Erica Ortiz (Arvada) whom was the first to hold Georgina the moment after her birth.
Wherever Georgina made her presence she was successful at putting a smile on ones face. Her honest and pure nature allowed her to give and receive love in endless bounty. Her connection to the human spirit and her acceptance of the vast greatness of the circle of life made all who came into contact with her truly blessed. She will be missed, but never forgotten her animated and loving spirit will be an eternal flame for all who love her.
A celebration of Georginas life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at a Place for Peace, 1605 W. Mulberry (970-493-1495) across the street from City Park. The event will be an open house for the first hour, followed by a ceremony.
A memorial fund has been set up and can be sent in care of the Mennonite Fellowship, 300 E. Oak, Fort Collins 80524.

PALMER, Betty L., 64, Dacono, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Boulder Community Hospital.
SEAY, Kathryn S.
March 30, 1912 - Nov. 30, 2003
Kathryn S. Seay of Denver died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Porter Hospice in Denver. She was 91.
Mrs. Seay was born March 30, 1912, in Berthoud to Peter and Katherine (Maul) Sterkel.
She married Hugh Seay on Feb. 19, 1949, in Sacramento, Calif.
Mrs. Seay worked as an office clerk for the Sacramento schools.
She lived most of her life in Sacramento and moved to Denver in January 1991.
Mrs. Seay was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, John and George Sterkel; and two sisters, Molly McGeorge and Elizabeth Sterkel.
Mrs. Seay is survived by two brothers, William Sterkel and his wife Florence of Berthoud and Pete Sterkel and his wife Jean of Longmont; two sisters, Christine Pappas of Van Nuys, Calif., and Florence Horner of Denver; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
THOMPSON, Philip H.
July 8, 1904 - Nov. 25, 2003
Philip H. Thompson of Longmont, formerly of Lyons, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Louisville. He was 99.
Mr. Thompson was born July 8, 1904, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harry C. and Mary A. (Pugh) Thompson.
On Oct. 16, 1927, he married Dorothy M. Stapleton in Denver.
Mr. Thompson built, owned and operated Rockin River Resort in Lyons from 1955 to 1969 before retiring. He moved to Longmont in 1970.
He was a member of the Masons and attended Old Stone Congregational Church in Lyons.
Mr. Thompson always enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife in January 1990; a daughter, Phyllis Thompson; and six brothers and sisters.
Mr. Thompson is survived by a daughter, Nancy J. Carpenter of Longmont; a sister, Winifred Skinner of Edmond, Okla.; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
No visitation is scheduled. Cremation has been handled by Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins with the Rev. Sam Tallent of Old Stone Congregational Church officiating.
Inurnment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
ZACH, Eileen Mae
July 18, 1929 - Dec. 2, 2003
Eileen Mae Zach of Boulder died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at her home, the result of emphysema. She was 74.
Mrs. Zach was born July 18, 1929, in Pine City, Minn., to Charles Reed and Marie (Kruse) Turner.
On Sept. 12, 1952, she married Alvin V. Al Zach in Waco, Texas.
She moved to Boulder in 1966 from Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Zach worked for the Hallmark Gift Shop in Table Mesa for seven years. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Boulder and the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority. Her hobbies included gardening, ceramics and sewing.
Mrs. Zach was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She will be remembered as a kind and compassionate mother and a loving person who was devoted to her children, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Turner in 1966.
Mrs. Zach is survived by her husband of Boulder; two sons, David E. Zach of San Francisco and John M. Zach of Berthoud; two daughters, Jodie L. Dionysius of Longmont and Kathleen M. Kaiser of Aurora; a brother, Charles Turner of Medford, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of Mrs. Zachs life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 3485 Stanford Court, Boulder. The Rev. Bruce Bennett of the church will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the service.
A private family graveside service will be held at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

ZIEGLER, Ethel C.
April 12, 1906 - Nov. 30, 2003
Ethel Christina Ziegler, formerly of Longmont, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003. She was 97.
Mrs. Ziegler was born April 12, 1906, in Toulon, Ill., to Charles H. and Ethel E. (Drinnin) Sorenson. Her family moved to Longmont in 1908.
She graduated from high school in Longmont and began working as a cashier/bookkeeper at the J.C. Penney store while taking college classes at night.
On June 16, 1928, she married Clarence Otto Ziegler in Longmont. The couple moved to Craig, Colo., where Mr. Ziegler became the manager of the J.C. Penney store in 1932. After his death in 1934, she returned to the Longmont J.C. Penney and completed 47 years with the company. She enjoyed a short leave in 1947 to be a bookkeeper at the Longmont Airport.
Mrs. Ziegler continued to work at various jobs after her retirement. She moved to Torrington, Wyo., in 1994 and in 1997 moved in with her daughter Betty.
She was a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Longmont and served as church youth leader and treasurer. She was also a member of the Liberty Hall Grange and enjoyed traveling with her church lunch bunch friends.
Mrs. Ziegler was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Dale Allen; a brother, Chris Sorenson; and a sister, Lettie Leonard.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann Allen; a sister, Dorothy Perkins; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four nephews, including Charles Sorenson of Longmont; and seven nieces.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 701 Kimbark St., with the Rev. Gary Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.
Memorial contributions may be given to either the family or to the Longmont or Torrington First Baptist churches.
AMEN, Robert H.
July 5, 1927 - Feb. 5, 2004
Robert H. Amen of Longmont passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 76.
Born July 5, 1927, in Loveland, he was the son of Jacob Casper and Katherine (Frank) Amen. He moved to Mead with his family where he attended school and graduated from Mead High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1945-46. He returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Walter, on March 6, 1947, at Peace Lutheran Church at Longmont.
He then attended auto mechanics school in Kansas City and then returned to the Mead area and his true passion of farming, but continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until 1953. He later retired from farming and went to work in the lawn and garden department of Sears Roebuck in Longmont.
Mr. Amen loved to fish and take his grandchildren fishing with him. He loved to play cards, Aggravation and Yahtzee. He is remembered as a wonderful husband and father and as a quiet, loving and forgiving man.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont.
Mr. Amen was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Arthur Amen, Jacob Amen, Victor Amen and Eddie Amen.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Padilla and husband Gary of Evans, and Katherine Lynn Kemp and husband Lars of Longmont; one brother, William Paul Amen of Longmont; three sisters, Esther Schmidt of Greeley, Alma Cox of Traverse City, Mich., and Kay Taylor of Carlsbad, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Richard George Carlson, Jr., Robert Keith Carlson, Emily Dawn Carlson, Joseph Michael Carlson, Benjamen Scott Carlson, Tony Carmen Padilla, and Alex Francisco Padilla; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1335 Francis St. Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory.

DAVIS, Nell Jane Dyer, 75, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Longmont. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Nell Jane Dyer Davis of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Longmont. She was 75.
Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Bethany, Mo., to Tom and Pearl (Sullivan) Dyer. She married Donald L. Davis on Oct. 4, 1946, in Atchison, Kan.
She was a housewife and mother. She was an avid bridge player and a member of Eastern Star, Transportation Club and Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Polson and Barbara Carper.
Survivors include her husband; her step-mother, Anna Faye Dyer of Altoona, Iowa; two daughters, Donna J. Davis-Haddon and husband David H. Haddon of Longmont, and Margaret M. Davis-Donovan and husband Donald T. Donovan of Ankeny, Iowa; one brother, Bruce Dyer of Arlington Heights, Ill.; one sister, Geneva Davis of Altoona; four grandchildren, Floyd Holliday, Donella Ozbun, Angela Dreesman and Scott Kirby; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Creel of Longs Peak United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
