DE NOVELLIS, Judith Lane

Judith 'Judy' Lane DeNovellis of Longmont died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at her home. She was 62.
Mrs. DeNovellis was born Oct. 29, 1940, in Boulder to Gerald and Patricia (Bokan) Graves. She was raised in Lafayette and attended school there.
On May 5, 1960, she married Robert DeNovellis in Denver. Her family moved to Longmont in 1979 from Lafayette.
Mrs. DeNovellis worked for IBM for more than 20 years in the customer service area, retiring in 2002.
She was active in bowling leagues for many years. She also enjoyed fishing, trips to Blackhawk and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. DeNovellis was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Jerry C. Graves.
She is survived by her husband of Longmont; two sons, Bob DeNovellis and his wife Ann of Las Vegas and Tom DeNovellis and his wife Daphne of Greeley; her mother of Lafayette; a sister, Geraldine Stone of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Dave and DeAnn DeNovellis of Las Vegas and Derek, Olivia and Dominic DeNovellis of Greeley.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, Longmont.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Ed McQueen of Rocky Mountain Christian Church officiating.
A cremation will follow the services.

DERR, Irvin 'Bud'
Dec. 26, 1917 - Sept. 27, 2003
Irvin L. 'Bud' Derr died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, of natural causes at Windsor Health Care Center. He was 85.
He was born Dec. 26, 1917, to Irvin V. and Amanda (Leasa) Derr in Longmont.
Mr. Derr attended Longmont schools, and at a young age he went to work at a local sugar factory. He later worked at North Johnsons Corner and owned his own gas station, where he became a familiar figure within the community.
Mr. Derr married Mrudula Swayampati on Nov. 3, 1996, in Longmont.
He served in the Army during World War II and later worked as a mechanic. He was a lifetime member of Chapter 16 of the Disabled American Veterans and an elder member of LifeBridge Christian Church. He was also a devoted visitor to local nursing homes for more than 20 years.
Although he retired, Mr. Derr continued to work part time at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel. In his spare time, he rekindled his lifetime love of music by playing guitar in a country band. Mr. Derr also helped his neighbors during the winter by snow-blowing their sidewalks and driveways.
Mr. Derr is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cordner; and two sisters, Eva and Agnes.
He is survived by his wife of Longmont; two sons, Vern Derr and his wife Janet of Littleton, and Jim Derr and his wife Pat of Johnstown; a daughter, Peggy Bieker and her husband Jim of Brighton; a stepdaughter, Sheila Groel and her husband Peter of Longmont; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Bradshaw officiating.
Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
DUNSING, Roland L.
April 1, 1928 - Sept. 25, 2003
Roland L. Duensing died at the HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center of congestive heart failure. He was 75.
Mr. Duensing was born to William and Anna (Klaus) Duen-sing in Washington County, Kan.
He married Patricia Adams.
Duensing graduated from high school in Odell, Neb.
He worked as a tool and cutter grinder for 25 years until retirement in 1990. He also worked in the National Park system at Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore.
Duensing enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family, and was proud of scaling Longs Peak twice. He was active in his church, as well as a respected friend and neighbor.
Mr. Duensing was preceded in death by a son, Scott Duensing; and a brother, Norman Duensing.
He is survived by his wife of Longmont; two sons, Mark Duensing of Longmont and Dr. William Duensing of Wyomissing, Pa.; a daughter, Belinda Nichols of Bayville, N.J.; two sisters, Donna Miller and Mary Ann Duensing, both of Beatrice Neb.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Community of Christ Church, 641 Martin St., in Longmont. Cremation has already occurred.

GHESQUIERE, Frank
Jan. 10, 1914 - Sept. 29, 2003
Frank Achille Ghesquiere of Longmont died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003. He was 89.
Mr. Ghesquiere was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Mead to Achille and Marie (Catry) Ghesquiere. He grew up in the Milliken area and graduated from Milliken High School.
On May 22, 1941, he married Ferilda Arys in Mead.
Mr. Ghesquiere farmed with his family in the Milliken area and later the Mead area on Colo. Highway 66 and Weld County Road 5.
He retired from farming in 1960 and moved to Longmont with his family. He then went to work for Johnsons Corner, driving their Gas Tank Wagon to area farms and businesses. He retired from that job in 1984.
Mr. Ghesquiere was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
He and his wife enjoyed their home in Longmont, growing a beautiful flower garden and providing for their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ghesquiere was preceded in death by his wife; and a brother, Elmer Ghesquiere.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Anderson and her husband Robert of Longmont; a sister, Emma Neubauer of Wray, Colo.; a grandson, Jeff Anderson and his wife Ronda of Longmont; a granddaughter, Keri Anderson of Longmont; and five great-grandchildren, Justin, Samantha, Kyleigh, Kaeden and Kaelen Anderson, all of Longmont.
Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St., Longmont. Visitation will be held from noon through the rosary.
A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian Morrow officiating.
Interment will follow in the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
HALBERG, James Leo
Feb. 5, 1932 - Sept. 23, 2003
James Leo Halberg died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.
He was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Blackwell, Okla., the son of Leo Bernard and Ruby May Halberg. Jims father passed away March 1937 at a very young age. In 1940, Ruby May Halberg married Ira E. Baker, a resident of Rinn Community, near Longmont.
Halberg graduated from Mead High School in 1950. He joined the Navy in 1951 and received an honorable discharge in 1955. While in the Navy, he was involved in the Korean conflict. Jim followed the rodeo circuit for several years as a bull rider and bareback rider. He attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.
While attending the University of Arizona, he met and married Patricia Wilcox. They had two daughters, Jacqueline and Joyce. In the early 1970s, Pat and Jim divorced.
After graduating from college, he was employed by Phillips 66 Fertilizer Company in Longmont. He took a position with WYCON Chemical as a sales representative for Northern Colorado, Wyoming and part of Nebraska. The family moved to Casper, Wyo., and then to Wheatland, Wyo., where he was co-owner of Laramie Peek Feed. He was also involved in farming and ranching. He later worked for Ekland Drilling Co. He trained Quarter horses for Ekland in Casper and Coeur D Alene, Idaho. He also trained Quarter horses in New Mexico.
Until his death, he was a resident of Wheatland.
He enjoyed fishing, going to rodeos and traveling. He was a lifetime member of the VFW club in Thermopolis, Wyo., and a member of RCA. he enjoyed talking to people and spinning yarns.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Halberg, Bullhead, Ariz., and Jacqueline Stark, her husband, Bryan, and their sons, Robert and Wesley, Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Bruce Baker, Los Lunas, N.M., and Lloyd Baker of Wheatland; an aunt, Maxine Baker; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend and companion, Bonnie Basler, Boulder, Colo.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Bruce Maxwell of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation was in Cheyenne. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donors choice.

HAMILTON, Jesse H. 'Bud', 83, of Longmont, died at home on Sept. 16, 2003. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at Howe Mortuary Chapel with interment immediately following at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
HAVRAN, Margaret Susanne 'Sue'
HAVRAN, Margaret Susanne 'Sue', 75, of Longmont, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Peaks Care Center, Longmont, following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at the Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Family will greet from 4 to 5 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial services will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Longmont at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
KASEMIR, Poldi T.
Dec. 26, 1916 - Sept. 21, 2003
Poldi T. Kasemir of Longmont died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Boulder Community Hospital, a result of the West Nile virus. She was 86.
Mrs. Kasemir was born Dec. 26, 1916, in former Czechoslovakia to Karl and Leopoldine (Valenta) Tisher.
She attended a technical school for photography. She was a photographer and sculptor and did work as a landscape artist.
In March 1946, she married Heinz W. Kasemir in Reit Im Winkel, Germany.
She lived in Longmont from 1966 until the time of her death.
She will be remembered for the gardens she transformed with vibrant colors that reflected her personality. Her home was filled with hundreds of clay birds and animals.
Mrs. Kasemir is survived by a son, Wolfram Kasemir of Longmont; and four daughters, Irmelin H. Shively of Lafayette, Imogen G. Durfee of Colorado Springs, Astride U. Kitchens of Loveland and Verena Kasemir of Longmont.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Mrs. Kasemirs home, 8529 U.S. Highway 287, Longmont.

LAY, Gary
May 22, 1951 - Sept. 25, 2003
Gary Lay died in Louisville, Colo., at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center. He was 52.
Lay was born to Raymond Harvey and Victoria Adell (Murphy) Lay in Casey County, Ky.
He married Judith Lynne Sheats, Nov. 9, 1996, in Eastlake, Colo.
After growing up in Casey County, he moved to California in 1968. He came to Colorado in 1980 and has lived in Firestone since 1996.
Gary enjoyed family activities, including fishing and boating, snowmobiling and teaching his grandchildren woodworking skills. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
He was a NASCAR and Bronco fanatic and was an excellent cabinet maker and general contractor. He was meticulous in his workmanship and rarely accepted less than perfect craftsmanship. He collected antique woodworking tools and antique furniture.
Gary had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a witty, eye-twinkling comeback. He loved to help people and rarely had to be prodded to share his experience, strength and hope.
Gary was a servant of God, a loving husband, supportive father, a loyal brother and a steadfast friend. He will be missed greatly.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, Firestone; son, Raymond Lay and wife, Helen, Thornton, Colo.; daughter, Nicole Lay, Saugus, Calif.; brothers, Marshall Leigh and wife, Charlene, Zephyrhills, Fla., John Lay and wife, Rebecca, Liberty, Ky., Preston Lay and wife, Earlene, Mt. ORSINI, Mary M.
June 23, 1923 - Sept. 28, 2003
Mary M. Orsini of Niwot died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 80.
Mrs. Orsini was born June 23, 1923, in Paterson, N.J., to Alfred and Rose (Schaar) Edell.
During World War II, she was an aircraft engine inspector for Wright Aeronautics.
On Oct. 17, 1947, she married Thomas Orsini in Paterson.
Upon moving to Niwot from New Jersey in 1969, she was employed at Left Hand Water Supply and later at AT&T/Lucent in Westminster, where she retired in 1991.
Mrs. Orsini was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
She loved to sing and dance to old 1940s music standards. She will be remembered for her caring, her friendliness and her fun-loving personality.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.
Mrs. Orsini is survived by her husband of Niwot; a daughter, Rosemary Orsini of Highlands Ranch; and a brother, James Edell of Florida.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont. A vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with Deacon Michael Berens officiating.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian Morrow of the church officiating.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C.
