Nov. 13, 1957 - May 26, 2003

Lawrence Tony Rael of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Berthoud, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Omaha. He was 45.

Mr. Rael was born Nov. 13, 1957, to Lorenzo and Matilda (Gallegos) Rael in Roy, N.M.

He moved to Berthoud from Milliken in 1973. He lived there until 1990, when he moved to Omaha.

Mr. Rael worked for several different construction companies. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Slager.

Mr. Rael is survived by his mother of Longmont; his father of Clayton, N.M.; a son, Jaime Rael of Fort Collins; three daughters, Christa and Antonya Rael of Longmont and Laura Rael of Denver; a granddaughter; three sisters, Francis Embree and her husband of Anderson, S.C., Barbara Rael and her husband of Longmont and Rosalie Rascon of Longmont; a brother, Dominic Rael of Longmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Berthoud Four Square Church with the Rev. Esteban Salazar of the church officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Berthoud.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berthoud Four Square Church in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland 80537.

SWEANGEN, John Mark

SWEANGEN, John Mark, 64, of Allenspark, died Thursday, May 29, 2003. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, at Allenspark Community Church.

VALDEZ, Mary Patsy

VALDEZ, Mary Patsy, 78, of Frederick, passed away May 30, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital.

VASWIG, Donald

VASWIG, Donald, 58, of Niwot, passed away Friday, May 23, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. Private services will be held. Interment at Ryssby Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, CT, 06840.

VAUGHAN, Wilma Leora

Feb. 2, 1920 - May 26, 2003

Wilma Leora Vaughan of Longmont died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 83.

Mrs. Vaughan was born Feb. 2, 1920, to Lawrence and Anna (Andrews) Peterson in Lyons. She moved to Longmont as a child and had lived in the same house since 1953.

She attended Bryant School and Longmont High School.

On Nov. 30, 1936, she married Charles G. Vaughan in Longmont.

Mrs. Vaughan had many jobs in household services. She did housekeeping, including ironing and babysitting, for residences for many years. She also was the head custodian for Nichols Hall and Williams Towers at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

She will be remembered as a perfectionist when it came to her work.

She enjoyed crocheting and made more than 100 afghans for her family and friends. She also enjoyed painting and was a very good cook.

Mrs. Vaughan was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia; her husband; two sisters, Edith and Jackie; three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and John Peterson; and a son-in-law, James Koch.

She is survived by a son, Chuck Vaughan and his wife Terry of Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Mary Palinckx and her husband Don of Littleton, Barbara Poquette and her husband Gerry of Denver, N.C., and Charlene Moore and her husband Allen of Englewood; 11 grandchildren, Donald and Mike Palinckx, Terri Thomson, Cara McClendon, Sandra Barnes, Steve Koch, Dale and Craig Moore, and Scott, Ricky and Jeff Vaughan; 35 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Herbert Aldridge of Longmont.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Interment will take place in Foothills Gardens of Memory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Humane Society in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

WILEY, Jack

Dec. 8, 1927 - May 28, 2003

Jack Wiley of Lorimor, Iowa, formerly of Lyons, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset, Iowa. He was 75.

Mr. Wiley was born Dec. 8, 1927, in rural Decatur County, Iowa, to Pearl E. and Mary L. (Teale) Wiley.

On March 19, 1948, he married Joy L. Hunter in Davis City, Iowa.

Mr. Wiley was a farmer and a rancher. He owned his own farming operation in Iowa and later resided in Lyons as a rancher.

Mr. Wiley loved his horses. They and his cattle were a big part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 19, 1981; a brother, Arthur "Pop" Wiley; a grandson, Kurt Hol; and a son-in-law, Dennis Hol.

Mr. Wiley is survived by a daughter, Carol "Cindy" Hol of Adel, Iowa; a son, Brad Wiley and his wife Sue of Lorimor; his mate, Dr. Cheryl Clement of Boulder; two sisters, Willa Farrell of Hollywood, Fla., and Peg Sandage and her husband Stan of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, James Wiley of Leavenworth, Kan., and Pearl "Wimp" Wiley and his wife Jo Ann of Panora, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kelly Jo Petrie, Melanie Wiley, Todd Wiley and his wife Katy, and Kristin Wiley; and three great-grandchildren, Meghan Petrie, Jacob Petrie and Taylor Fredrickson.

Visitation was held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset. The family was present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, May 31, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare.

Interment will be private.

Memorials may be made to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

BERRY, Beverly

BERRY, Beverly, of Longmont, died Aug. 2, 2003, in Longmont as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 74 years old. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St. in Longmont. A gathering will follow at Roosevelt Park Pavilion, Longs Peak Avenue and Coffman Street, Longmont.

BROWN, Marvin E. 'Marv', 65, of Longmont, passed away Aug. 7, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wed. Aug. 13 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends. Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Thurs., Aug. 14, at Rocky Mountain Christian Church with Ed McQueen of the church officiating. Interment Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. CULBERTSON, Connie L., 54, of Lyons, passed away Aug. 7, 2003, at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties.

Di PAOLO, Loreta

Sept. 9, 1920 - Aug. 5, 2003

Loreta Di Paolo of Frederick died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Di Paolo was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Cansano, Italy, to Antonio DOrazio and Marianna Di Paolo. She moved to New York at a young age. Her parents died when she was a young woman.

She worked as a seamstress during World War II making uniforms for American soldiers.

On Sept. 15, 1946, she married Paul Di Paolo in Brooklyn, N.Y. They then moved to Frederick.

Mrs. Di Paolo was a member of St. Theresas Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Nicola Nick Di Paolo and his wife Jan of Longmont; three daughters, Marianna Di Paolo and her husband Kenneth Ranson of Sandy, Utah, Joan Quispe and her husband Esteban of Frederick and Lucia Di Paolo and her husband Lyman Spencer of Novato, Calif.; a sister, Bambina Di Giacomo of Westfield, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Sean Ranson, Amy, Jonghee, Kayjoon, Konce and Grace Quispe, Gary Guttridge and Pamela Bonesteel; two stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Spencer Hill and Shari Spencer; and two great-grandchildren, Daemen Guttridge and Hayley Uhl.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, and will also be held Monday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at St. Theresas Catholic Church.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at St. Theresas Catholic Church in Frederick with the Rev. Don Willette officiating.

Interment will follow in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Howe Mortuary, Longmont, is handling arrangements.

ESTES, Thomas G.

July 8, 1927 - Aug. 6, 2003

Thomas G. Estes of Longmont died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 76.

Mr. Estes was born July 8, 1927, to Richard G. and Sarah (Lasater) Estes in Longmont.

He graduated from Longmont High School in 1944 and from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1950. He then obtained his masters and doctorate degrees from Wayne State University.

Mr. Estes served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947 in the Philippines.

On Aug. 18, 1949, he married Jean Simmons in Longmont.

He taught physical education and math and was a coach in Lafayette. He then moved to Michigan where he taught and became a counselor in Grosse Pointe for 27 years. He returned to Longmont and retired in 1982.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Longmont, the Longmont Rotary, the Senior Center board, the human relations board for the Longmont City Council, the University of Colorado Buff Club and the St. Vrain Masonic Lodge and a founding member of the Friends of the Longmont Public Library.

Mr. Estes received the outstanding alumni award from the University of Colorado in 1972 and also received numerous academic and professional honors.

He was an active volunteer, an avid reader and a University of Colorado football fan who enjoyed traveling and playing golf and bridge.

Mr. Estes is survived by his wife of Longmont; three daughters, Jill Lucas and her husband Rob of Wheat Ridge, Cynthia St. John of Federal Way, Wash., and Jan Collyer and her husband Paul of Modesto, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Mike, Beth, Ryan, Jaclyn, Jeff and Evan.

Cremation is being handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Anne Kear officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

HENINGER, Robley Doug

HENINGER, Robley Doug, 86, of Loveland, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2003, at McKee Medical Center. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Rinn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Palmer Marsh of the church officiating. Visitation prior to services at the church. Cremation to follow services at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to Rinn United Methodist Church in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Lewis, Germaine R.

Germaine R. Lewis of Loveland died Aug. 8, 2003, at North Shore Manor in Loveland. She was 88.

Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Louisville to Marie Bunolin and Cyril Beauprez. She married Kenneth D. Lewis on Nov. 28, 1933, in south Boulder. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in south Boulder and a member of the altar and rosary society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening.

She moved to Loveland in 1992 from Lafayette, where she had lived since 1976. Before that, she lived in Boulder all her life. She is survived by four sons, Robert Lewis and his wife Barbara of Loveland, Don Lewis of Lingle, Wyo., Jack Lewis and his wife Judy of Walden, and Tom Lewis and his wife Jodell of Berthoud; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Allnutt Funeral Service/Hunter Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Allnutt Funeral Service/Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave. in Loveland.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Boulder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Banner Home Health Care in care of Allnutt Funeral Service/Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, 80538.

LOW, Richard D.

LOW, Richard D., 79, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Boulder Community Hospital.

MORRISON, Alice

Aug. 30, 1933 - Aug. 6, 2003

Alice M. Morrison of Firestone died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 69.

Mrs. Morrison was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Limon, Colo., to John and Mildred (Neiderhaus) Banks.

She graduated from Durango High School in 1950.

On Sept. 2, 1951, she married Ronald J. Morrison in Durango.

She was a homemaker and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Longmont and Firestone for 15 years.

Mrs. Morrison moved to Firestone in 1971.

She was a member of New Horizons Christian Church in Dacono, the National and State Grange, the Liberty Hall Grange and the Neighborhood Watch in Firestone. She was a founding member of the group who began the Tri-Area Ambulance Service and one of the first certified emergency medical technicians in Colorado.

Mrs. Morrison enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 3, 2001; and a son, Rodney Morrison, on April 27, 2003.

Mrs. Morrison is survived by three sons, Daniel Morrison of Broomfield, Roger Morrison of Longmont and Donald Morrison and his wife Chrissy of Frederick; a brother, Don Banks; and six grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Andy, Kylie, Melanie and Jason.

Cremation is being handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. No visitation is scheduled.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Rob Thomas of New Horizons Christian Church in Dacono officiating.

Inurnment will be in Florida Cemetery in Durango at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
