CAMPBELL, Luke J.

Luke John Campbell, a lifelong resident of Longmont, died of natural causes Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 26.
He was born Jan. 20, 1977, to Frank B. and Shirley A. (Bauer) Campbell in Longmont. He graduated from Niwot High School in 1994.
Mr. Campbell was a painter for DMC Painting.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Mr. Campbell loved to hunt, fish and make people laugh.
He will be remembered as a devoted father who enjoyed helping others.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his parents of Longmont; his former wife, Marcy Campbell of Longmont; a son, Jonah Campbell of Longmont; three brothers, Damon Campbell and his wife Kristi of Longmont, Danny Campbell of Longmont, and Matthew Campbell and his wife Coleen of Milliken; three sisters, Anna Meintzer and her husband David of Longmont, Katrina Donahue and her husband Bard of Longmont, and Jacinta Carpenter and her husband Joseph of Thornton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel. A vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St., with the Rev. Stephen Siebert of the church officiating.
Private interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

COFFMAN, Helen
Aug. 12, 1912 - Jan. 31, 2003
Violet Coffman of Longmont died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003. She was 90.
She was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Tecumseh, Neb., to Allen Crabtree and Edith Taylor.
She married Jay E. Coffman in 1930 in Yuma, Colo.
She was a member of the Garden Home Grange in Denver for 50 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert D. Coffman; three brothers, Myrl Crabtree, Ivan Crabtree and Delbert Crabtree; and an infant brother, Harold.
She is survived by a son, Chuck Coffman and his wife Donna Johnson of Ogallala, Neb.; a brother, LaVerne Crabtree of Denver; a daughter-in-law, Helen Coffman of Longmont; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Interment will take place in Yuma, Ariz.
COLCLEASURE, Betty Ann
April 25, 1923 - Jan. 31, 2003
Betty Ann Colcleasure of Longmont died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Life Care Center. She was 79.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Baird, Texas, to Robert E. Bounds and Johnny Lee McGuffin Bounds.
On Dec. 7, 1942, she married Arnold E. Colcleasure Sr. in Baird.
Mrs. Colcleasure was a homemaker. She was a life member of the VFW Post 2601 Ladies Auxiliary and was active in MOPS in the Longmont area.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Longmont.
Mrs. Colcleasure moved from Texas to Longmont in 1952. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, cooking and the outdoors, and she loved Colorado.
She worked in menu planning and food preparation at Central School.
Mrs. Colcleasure was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Oct. 16, 1993; three brothers, John P. Bounds, Bland D. Bounds and Henry C. Bounds; and a sister, Mary Taylor.
She is survived by two sons, Arnold E. Colcleasure Jr. of Longmont and Eric B. Colcleasure; a daughter, Arliss Ann Zerbe and her husband Bill of Gas City, Ind.; a sister, Nina Brown of Roswell, N.M.; two grandchildren, Clay A. Zerbe of Gas City and Jennifer L. French and her husband Brandon of Gas City; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Granville D. Smythe Jr. of the church officiating.
Interment will be in Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

HOWELL, John Douglas 'Doug'
Nov. 6, 1916 - Feb. 1, 2003
John Douglas 'Doug' Howell of Longmont, formerly of Loveland, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Life Care Center. He was 86.
He was born Nov. 6, 1916, to Ora and Florence Terry (Clare) Howell in Fennimore, Wis.
Mr. Howell graduated from Union Free High School in 1934. He received a bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1939 and a masters degree in accounting from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1950.
On June 22, 1941, he married Ruby Quarles in Rocky Ford.
Mr. Howell served in the U.S. Air Force for five years. He was a navigator on a B-29 crew in India, at Tinian Airfield, and in the China-Burma-India and Pacific theaters.
He was a teacher and coach in La Junta, a brakeman for Santa Fe Railroad, a certified public accountant and a hospital administrator for three hospitals, including Longmont United Hospital.
Mr. Howell moved to Good Samaritan Village in Loveland in 1993 before relocating to Longmont in 2002.
He was active in the Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Howell enjoyed bridge, Colorado history, railroads, traveling and square dancing.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999.
Mr. Howell is survived by a son, John D. Howell Jr. and his wife Kathy of Niwot; two daughters, Margaret Hyatt and her husband Greg of Longmont, and Janet Horenstein and her husband Josh of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Sexton and her husband George of Deland, Fla.; three grandchildren, Evan Hyatt of Longmont, Tammy Tillis of Jacksonville, and Jamie Greer and her husband Phil of Jacksonville; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Ferguson of Jacksonville.
Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Good Samaritan Village Chapel, 2102 S. Garfield, Loveland, with the Rev. George Huber officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
Robert 'Bob' Imrie
Nov. 17, 1939 - Jan. 31, 2003
Robert 'Bob' Imrie of Frederick died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at his home. He was 63.
He was born Nov. 17, 1939, to Lloyd and Phyllis (Leonard) Imrie in Joliet, Ill. He grew up and attended school in Illinois.
Mr. Imrie worked in a steel mill in Illinois, then moved to the Tampa Bay area in Florida, where he worked on a fishing boat and also was a bodyguard. In 1978, Mr. Imrie moved to Colorado and worked in Aurora for McLane Western. He moved to Frederick in 1993 when the company relocated to the Longmont area. He worked for McLane Western for 19 years and retired in 2000.
In July 1987, he married Doris E. Rumsey in Las Vegas.
Mr. Imrie enjoyed collecting stamps and football cards and playing Nintendo games. He also enjoyed gambling, especially blackjack. He had been to many casinos in Nevada and Colorado and had hoped to go on one of the riverboat casinos down the Mississippi in Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Imrie; and a grandchild.
He is survived by his wife of Frederick; two stepsons, Dennis Ray Baker and his wife Donna of Colorado Springs, and David Wayne Baker and his wife Brenda of Aurora; a daughter, Tina Marie Imrie; a stepdaughter, Dianne Hall and her husband James of Franktown, Colo.; a brother, Richard Imrie of Sterling, Ill.; a sister, Rosemary Imrie of Waterloo, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Cremation will be held before the service, with inurnment in Foothills Gardens of Memory.

IRSIK, Dennis Eugene
IRSIK, Dennis Eugene, 44, passed away Jan. 23, 2003. He is survived by his parents, Raymond and Juanita; sister Stephanie; brother Raymond Jr.; nephews Raymond and Edward; and niece Sandra. Memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Unity Church of Boulder, 2855 Folsom St.
KUHNS, Inez Irene Blue
Feb. 13, 1924 - Feb. 1, 2003
Inez Irene Blue Kuhns of Gering, Neb., died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. She was 78.
She was born Feb. 13, 1924, to Arthur and Harriett (Bills) Robinson in Keyapaha County, Neb., where she was raised and educated. She moved to Brown County, Neb., when she was 18, and to the Bayard/Bridgeport, Neb., area when she was 20.
She worked as a motel manager.
On Oct. 9, 1944, she married Alvin Blue in Ainsworth, Neb. He preceded her in death. On July 14, 1972, she married Alonzo Kuhns in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Mrs. Kuhns lived in Sidney, Neb., for 20 years and Kimball, Neb., for three years before moving to Gering in 1992. She was active in the foster grandparent program in each of those cities.
She was a member of the Foursquare Church in Scottsbluff and the VFW Auxiliary since 1975.
Mrs. Kuhns enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; six brothers; five sisters; and a stepson.
Mrs. Kuhns is survived by a son, Butch Blue and his wife Becky of Bayard; two daughters, Joyce Bowers and her husband Dallas of Bayard, and Linda Flores and her husband Steve of Longmont; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Bonita Brownfield and her husband Steve; a stepson, Gene Kuhns and his wife Sandy; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Bayard Assembly of God Church, with pastors Steve Sewell and Ken Trevithick officiating.
Interment will be in Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport.

LAMB, Richard 'Dick', 65, of Longmont, died Feb. 5, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital.
LEWERKE, Sylvia D.
Jan. 7, 1928 - Feb. 3, 2003
Sylvia 'Sally' Lewerke of Longmont died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 75.
She was born Jan. 7, 1928, to Elmer and Nelia (Oftedal) Jensen in Crystal Lake, Iowa. She was raised and graduated from high school in Crystal Lake.
On Nov. 23, 1946, she married Peter J. Lewerke in Britt, Iowa. They moved from Iowa to Colorado in 1949 and lived in Boulder from 1949 to 1977 before moving to Longmont.
Mrs. Lewerke was an executive secretary at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant near Golden for 25 years before her retirement in 1988.
She enjoyed trips to Black Hawk, playing bingo, tending to her rose gardens, watching football, bowling, family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren and reminiscing with her brother and sisters.
Mrs. Lewerke was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; a grandson, Richard Lewerke; and two brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Lewerke and his wife Deborah of Spring, Texas, and Richard Lewerke and his wife Shelly of Longmont; two daughters, Chris Peppler and her husband David Hetzer of Mead and Kathy Swepston and her husband Rod of Grand Junction; a brother, Glen Jensen of Carmel, Ind.; two sisters, Joan Gallion of Sonoma, Calif., and Jackie Appelhons of Forest City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Samantha, Michelle, Adam, Tammy and Ryan; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cathenina, Mickaylyn, Chloe, Rochelle, Richard, Ashleigh, Brehauna, Brittany, Kaitlyn and Curtis.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Howe Mortuary in Longmont. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 7, at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, with the Rev. Warren Napier officiating. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont.

MAIER, John E. 'Jack'
April 12, 1919 - Jan. 20, 2003
John E. 'Jack' Maier, formerly of Longmont, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003. He was 84.
He was born April 12, 1919, to Fred and Faye Muir Maier. He grew up in Longmont and attended Columbine Elementary School. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1937 and the music school at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1942.
He served in World War II and moved to St. Louis in 1945.
Mr. Maier taught vocal music, journalism, social studies and humanities. He also wrote several books and was a columnist for the Southside Journal for eight years.
He was a trumpet player and a member of the St. Louis Musicians Union Local 2-197 for 57 years. He was also a member of the Salvation Army Band Carondelot Corps and the Studebaker Drivers Club. He enjoyed inventing, especially musical instruments.
Mr. Maier is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betsy Jane (Sersted) Maier; two daughters, Carol Casey ONeill and her husband Dave of Columbus, Ohio, and Janet Hannigan and her husband Jim of Oceanside, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Katharine Kitty Parr Cupec and her husband Shawn; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Tiffany Cupec of Vandergrift, Pa.; and numerous other family members and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
A musical celebration of Mr. Maiers life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at University United Methodist Church, 6901 Washington Blvd., St. Louis. Send memories of Mr. Maier to Janet Hannigan, 163 Anchor Ave., Oceanside, NY 11572. The memories will be complied into a book and distributed at the service.
