QUARTARONE, Rose Marie, 95, of Boulder, passed away Oct. 26, 2002, at Fraiser Meadows Manor Health Care Center in Boulder. No services are scheduled at this time. A cremation will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

STOKES, Leo Nora Margaret

Feb. 10, 1925 - Oct. 26, 2002

Leo Nora Margaret Stokes of Loveland died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Hospice Care Center. She was 77.

She was born Feb. 10, 1925, to Leo George and Nora A. (Burns) Devlin in Wray. She graduated from Yuma County High School in 1942.

On July 4, 1979, she married William Brice Stokes in Wray.

Mrs. Stokes was a corporate secretary for Homestead Savings and Loan in Salina, Kan., for 25 years, retiring in 1982.

In March 1995, she moved to Loveland from Salina.

Mrs. Stokes was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She also was a member of P.E.O. and the Council of Catholic Women.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 3, 1992; a son, William B. Stokes II; a daughter, Fay Patricia Stokes; and a sister, Patricia DeLisle.

She is survived by a brother, Timothy Devlin of York, Neb.; four sisters, Aileen Tombaugh of Golden, Mabelle Meadows of Denver, Marie Jennings of Denver and Alice Anne Pilkington of Longmont; and 25 nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been held.

Recitation of the rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Joseph Hartman of the church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johns Building Fund or the American Lung Association of Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Service/Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland 80538.

WAITS-JONES, Nina Amelia (Phillips)

Oct. 3, 1909 - Oct. 25, 2002

Nina Amelia (Phillips) Waits-Jones, a longtime Arvada resident, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, of diabetes and osteoporosis. She was 93.

She was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Deer Trail, Colo.

She was a resident of Marcella Manor in Arvada since 1978.

Mrs. Waits-Jones was the matriarch of the family, representing five generations.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer F. Waits and Leon A. Jones; three children, Eunice, Glen and Clarence (Pretzel) Waits; and a great-grandson, Bradley Wilcox.

Mrs. Waits-Jones is survived by two sons, Jabus E. Waits of Laclede, Idaho, and Ray L. Waits of Littleton; a daughter, Violet I. Entihar of Dacono; 14 grandchildren, Sandra and Ronald Waits, Glen, Richard and Wanda Waits, Burnadean, Nina, Jerry Dale Ace Entihar and his wife Deanette, Ruby, Sindy, Eugene and John Entihar, and Renee and Danny Waits; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Olinger Wadsworth Mortuary, 29th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, Denver.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Olinger Wadsworth Mortuary. Services will continue at the Riverside Cemetery, East 52nd Avenue and Race Street, Denver. Services will conclude at the American Legion Post 1985, 670 First St., Firestone.

ACKERMAN, Edwin Roy

ACKERMAN, Edwin Roy, 68, of Federal Heights, formerly of Longmont, passed away Nov. 22, 2002, in Denver. Memorial service Monday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at LifeBridge Christian Church, with Rick Rusaw officiating. Cremation held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment at a later date in Laramie, Wyo.

Aug. 1, 1934 Nov. 22, 2002

Edwin Roy Buzz Ackerman of Federal Heights, formerly of Longmont, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at St. Anthonys Central in Denver. He was 68.

He was born Aug. 1, 1934, to Roy and Ethel (Thayer) Ackerman in Laramie, Wyo. He moved to Longmont in the late 1940s and graduated from Longmont High School in 1952.

On Sept. 1, 1957, he married Mary Lou Vallejos in Longmont.

Mr. Ackerman served in the U.S. Marines.

He was a foreman in the sheet metal manufacturing business. He was most recently employed by Fitzgeralds Casino in Black Hawk. He also was an officer with the Longmont Police Force.

Mr. Ackerman was of the Christian faith. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Longmont.

Mr. Ackerman enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, coin collecting and traveling with his family. He was an avid sports fan, especially of auto racing, in which he participated as both a spectator and a driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Mr. Ackerman is survived by three sons, Joseph E. Ackerman of Federal Heights, Eugene R. Ackerman of Commerce City and Kenneth M. Ackerman of Federal Heights; a daughter, Laura N. Cokewell and her husband Stephen of Thornton; a sister, Viola McNealy of Rapid City, S.D.; four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Daniel and Thomas Cokewell; his former wife, Mary Lou Vallejos of Federal Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at LifeBridge Christian Church, with Rick Rusaw of the church officiating.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Laramie.

ALLEN, Bettie A.

July 7, 1921 - Nov. 28, 2002

Bettie A. Allen of Longmont died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Life Care Center. She was 81.

She was born July 7, 1921, to August F. and Alice (Smith) David in Denver. She graduated from South High School in Denver.

In 1939, she married Arthur Voorhis. They later divorced. In 1949, she married Woodrow Cathey. They later divorced. In 1968, she married Ronald Allen.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker. She moved to the Boulder and Longmont area in 1976.

She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for the Boulder County Probation Department.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John Robert Voorhis; and a brother, Jack David.

She is survived by two sons, David Voorhis and his wife Marilyn of Longmont and James Cathey of Weslaco, Texas; a brother, Raymond David of Fort Myers, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 30, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont, with the Rev. Glenn Isernhagen of the church officiating.

ALLEN, Edith "Edie" Decker

Oct. 21, 1923 - Nov. 27, 2002

Edith "Edie" Decker Allen of Longmont, formerly of Boulder, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Longmont of natural causes. She was 79.

She was born Oct. 21, 1923, to Frank and Edith (Corwin) Bryan in Tulsa, Okla. She attended the University of Arkansas from 1941 to 1943 and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1944.

In August 1946, she married George J. Decker in Midland, Texas.

She moved to Boulder County in 1972.

On Feb. 14, 1976, she married William A. "Bill" Allen in Boulder.

Mrs. Allen was a geologist for Magnolia Oil until her marriage. She also was a prize-winning poet.

She loved dancing, painting, hooking rugs and feeding birds and squirrels. She also enjoyed genealogy and corresponding with her friends.

Mrs. Allen will be remembered for her charm, grace and sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and a brother, Frank Bryan.

Mrs. Allen is survived by a daughter, Jeannette Petrica and her husband Paul of Boulder County; a son, Michael Decker and his wife Debra of Dallas; three grandchildren, Josephine, Emily and Matthew Decker of Dallas; three stepchildren, Jim Allen-Morley and his wife Carole of Fort Collins, Cynthia Johnson and her husband Jim of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Regina Cleveland and her husband Bud of Lyons; and four stepgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Crist Mortuary, with the Rev. Jim McKeown officiating. Inurnment will follow at Green Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to Church of Santiago, Juvenile Diabetes Research or a charity of the donor's choice in care of Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder 80301.

ALLEN, Florence V.

ALLEN, Florence V., 85, of Longmont, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Life Care Center.

Armijo, Paula (Payne)

Jan. 11, 1963 - Nov. 25, 2002

Paula (Payne) Armijo of Longmont died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Longmont. She was 39.

She was born Jan. 11, 1963, in Fort Worth,

Texas. She moved to Longmont in 1987.

On Aug. 15, 1999, she married Joe Armijo in Longmont.

Mrs. Armijo was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Mrs. Armijo enjoyed crocheting and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Armijo is survived by her husband; her stepmother, Freddie Payne; a brother, Gary Payne; and a sister, Vickie Payne.

A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fourth Avenue and Collyer Street, Longmont, with the Rev. Mickey Flaska celebrant.

BRADLEY, Stephen J.

Nov. 12, 1916 - Nov. 13, 2002

Stephen J. Bradley of Longmont died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 86.

He was born Nov. 12, 1916, to Harold and Josephine (Crane) Bradley in Chicago. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Dartmouth College, attended Yale and received a masters of fine arts degree from the University of Colorado.

He married Anne Hurlburt on Jan. 20, 1940. After their divorce, he married Elizabeth Durrance Laffin on Aug. 22, 1970.

He was the former executive director and manager of the Winter Park Ski Area, retiring in 1975.

Mr. Bradley served as a ski racing official at the 1958 Squaw Valley and 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics. He medaled in four events on the Dartmouth College ski team. He invented the Bradley packer-grader for grooming ski slopes and was inducted into the National and Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.

He also was an actor, director and set designer for the Nomad Theater in Boulder, and he was an artist and avid kayak designer and builder.

He was a member of the National Ski Association and National Association of Ski Area Managers and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by both of his wives; a son, Timothy C. Bradley; four brothers; a sister; and a grandchild.

He is survived by a son, Daniel C. Bradley and his wife Elaine of Vienna, Austria; two daughters, Lynn B. Leopold and her husband Carl of Ithaca, N.Y., and Kat Bennett of Longmont; three brothers, William Bradley of Boulder, David Bradley of Norway, Maine, and Richard Bradley of Colorado Springs; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Ryssby Church, 9000 N. 63rd St., Longmont.

Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment is in Ryssby Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Bradley Memorial Fund for the National Sports Center for the Disabled, P.O. Box 36, Winter Park 80482.

DEBERRY, Terry Bob

Dec. 29, 1942 - Nov. 24, 2002

Terry Bob DeBerry of Longmont died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Longmont of complications from myotonic muscular dystrophy. He was 59.

He was born Dec. 29, 1942, to Dale Clifford and Iris Laurena (Nutter) DeBerry in Neodesha, Kan. He grew up in Annabella, Utah.

On June 26, 1963, he married Billie Kaye Dean in Central, Utah.

Mr. DeBerry served in the U.S. Navy for seven years as an electrician for diesel and nuclear submarines, based out of San Diego.

After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1968, he began a professional career as a software and systems engineer in the aerospace industry. In 1977, he moved to Colorado Springs, where he worked for Ford Aerospace for 17 years.

In 1997, he moved to Longmont.

Mr. DeBerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dixie Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Teresa Ewing and her husband David; a son, Todd DeBerry and his wife Michelle; five grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Scott, Timothy and Spike; and his beloved Yorkshire terrier, Sadie.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, in the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 West, Richfield, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the chapel.

Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery, with military rites by V.F.W. Sevier Post No. 5050.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 78342, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8342.
