LOOMIS, Katherine Henrietta 'Kak'

Katherine Henrietta "Kak" Loomis of North Platte, Neb., died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Linden Court. She was 89.
She was born Aug. 18, 1912, to Henry and Gertrude Minshull Hansen in North Platte.
She graduated from North Platte High School in 1931. She then attended Midland College.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Eastern Star, BPODoes, Daughter of the Nile, Shrine Auxiliary, the Union Pacific Old Timers and was a past member of the BLFFE Beaucient.
Mrs. Loomis enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge and traveling. She loved animals and always took in unwanted pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Richard; and a grandson, Michael Loomis.
Mrs. Loomis is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Loomis of North Platte; a sister, Laurine Kohn of Boulder; a brother, Wes Hansen of North Platte; three granddaughters, Deb Kudrna and her husband Mark of Longmont, Wendy Loomis of New York, NY, and Robyn Loomis of Denver; two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Vanessa Kudrna; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cremation has been held.
No visitation is scheduled.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Nathan Wadewitz officiating. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today and Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the BPOElks Lodge No. 985.

Luz Lugo De Orona of Longmont died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 79.
She was born March 7, 1922, to Maurilio Lugo and Conrrada Correa De Lugo in El Paso, Texas. As a young child, she moved with her family to Durango, Mexico, where she grew up.
In 1938, she married Rafael Orona in Durango.
Following the death of her husband, she returned to the United States and has resided in Longmont for several years.
She was a homemaker and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Alfonso Orona; and two sisters, Stella and Batrice.
Mrs. Lugo De Orona is survived by seven sons, Cecilio Orona, Rafael Orona Jr., Jose Luis Orona, Victor Orona, Raul Orona and Alfonso Orona, all of Longmont, and Fernando Orona of Wichita, Kan.; five daughters, Marhta Orona, Lilia Soto, Maria Guadalupe Perez and Irma Hernandez, all of Longmont, and Leticia Alvardo of Greeley; four brothers, Raul Lugo of Las Cruces, N.M., and Rafael Lugo, Alberto Lugo and Francisco Lugo, all of Durango, Mexico; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7:30 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2001, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Rosary prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2001, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Adalberto Degante of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Greeley, as celebrant.
Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
Bessie Esther Munsell Pinkerton
Nov. 11, 1911 - Dec. 12, 2001
Bessie Esther Munsell Pinkerton of Longmont died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 90.
She was born Nov. 11, 1911, to George Edwin Munsell and Edith (Goodman) Munsell in Wiggins, Colo.
On Jan. 4, 1929, she married Lawrence Trumbo in Hudson, Colo. They lived in Colorado and Arizona. On Aug. 12, 1941, she married Elmer E. Pinkerton in Westminster.
Mrs. Pinkerton attended schools in Morgan County and graduated from nursing school in Kirksville, Mo., in 1955. She worked 13 years in hospitals in the Kirksville area.
She moved to Longmont in 1968.
She worked for Longmont United Hospital for eight years and retired in 1976. She then was employed by Texaco for four years and later Phillips 66. She spent her later years volunteering, accumulating 2, 500 hours at the OUR Center and other civic clubs.
She was a member of Silver Spruce Rebekah Lodge No. 16, L.A.P.M. and the Past Noble Grand Clubs.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; a son, Earl Pinkerton; a sister, Blanche Ready; and a brother, Ted Munsell.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Pinkerton and his wife Carol of Ivory Coast, Africa; three grandsons, Howard Pinkerton of Oklahoma City, Jerry Pinkerton Jr. of Phoenix and Tim Pinkerton of Chicago; and eight great-grandsons.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 14, at Building of The Christians Church, 9498 Anhawa Ave., with the Rev. Darrell Hymel officiating.
Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

SABADOS, Charles "Charlie, " Jr.
Oct. 3, 1921 - Dec. 7, 2001
Charles "Charlie" Sabados Jr. of Dacono died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at his home. He was 80.
Born Oct. 3, 1921, in Dacono, he was the son of Charles Sabados Sr. and Cecelia Knowski.
He grew up in the Dacono area, graduating from Frederick High School.
He married Margaret Abromski on June 3, 1971, in Dacono.
He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. After returning home, he became a millwright and attained a college degree.
He went to work under contact with IBM in 1966, working there until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, he worked as a consultant.
Active in his hometown, he served on the City Council and was responsible for a number of provisions for the city. He was most proud of resolving town issues such as wastewater concerns and providing for the current water tower.
From 1958 to 1963, he served as justice of the peace for the town of Dacono. He was on a number of boards, including United Power Inc., Frederick Recreation Center and Mountain View Fire District.
He was active in the Civil Air Patrol, where he obtained the rank of colonel and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was past commander of VFW Post 9741.
Survivors include his wife of Dacono; three sons, Charles Sabados III of Longmont, Mark Sabados and his wife Pam of Berthoud, and David Sabados and his wife Julie of Berthoud; a daughter, Twila Sutton and her husband Pat of Longmont; four brothers, John and George Sabados of Longmont, Robert Sabados of Dacono and Benny Sabados of Breckenridge; a sister, Helen Kuhn of Dacono; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Howe Mortuary.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the services.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 32.
SCHUNEMAN, Wilma Jean
March 26, 1927 - Dec. 6, 2001
Wilma Jean Schuneman of Lyons died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 74.
Born March 26, 1927, in Torrington, Wyo., she was the daughter of Robert Robinson and Rhoda Bell Nice.
She married Leslie Stevenson in 1947 in Denver. After his death, she married Albert Schuneman in 1967 in Denver.
Mrs. Schuneman was a graduate of the Denver University School of Nursing and attained her R.N. degree. She was a retired nurse and the previous owner of The Raymond Store in Raymond. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Scrabble Club and Longmont Senior Bridge Club.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; a daughter, Catherine Ann Hains; and a sister, Erma Kerns.
Survivors include a daughter, Debi Stevenson of Lyons; two sons, Albert Wesley Schuneman IV and his wife Lisa of Centennial and Tom Schuneman and his wife Patti of Carbondale; a brother, Dale Robinson of Texas; a sister, Roberta Sample of Bayard, Neb.; a granddaughter, Dawn Quintana and her husband Ignacio of Longmont; two great-grandchildren, Zenia and Ignacio Quintana Jr.; a son-in-law, John Hains of Lyons; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Robinson of Tryon, Okla.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave., with Chaplain Carol Swartzendruber of Hospice of Boulder County officiating. Interment will be private.

SISCO, Mescal 'Michelle'
April 11, 1932 - Dec. 9, 2001
Mescal "Michelle" Sisco of Erie died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, the result of an automobile accident. She was 69.
She was born April 11, 1932, to Charles and Vivian (Prock) Cantrell in Filer, Idaho.
In 1949, she married Rodney Wilson in Idaho. She married Jack E. Sisco of Idaho in 1936 in Nevada.
Mrs. Sisco moved to the Bear Valley area of Denver in 1965 from Hailey, Idaho. She moved to Erie in 1996.
She was an accountant for Kumpf Motors and Farland Motors in Denver for approximately 15 years. She became a full-time artist, working out of her home. She did acrylic and oil paintings, quilting and paragami. She also designed hats and did ribbon work. She has a tole painted egg that is on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Sisco was a member of St. Philips and St. James Episcopal Church in Denver. She also was a member of The Ribbon Club in Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and her father.
Mrs. Sisco is survived by her mother of Buhl, Idaho; a son, Dennis C. Wilson and his wife Janece of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Rhonda K. Johnson and her husband Jonny of Buhl and Lori Schwallier and her husband Brian of Erie; a brother, Derek Cantrell and his wife Georgia of Buhl; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the Chapel at Darrell Howe, with the Rev. Jim McKeown of The Church of Santiago Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Erie.

THOMPSON, Myron J.
April 7, 1916 - Dec. 11, 2001
Myron J. Thompson of Longmont died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 85.
He was born April 7, 1916, to Joseph and Sigrid (Olson) Thompson in Gooding, Idaho. He moved to Longmont in 1925.
On June 15, 1947, he married Lorraine L. Lund at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Longmont.
Mr. Thompson farmed southeast of Longmont for 50 years. He retired in 1974. He managed feedlots for Grant Brothers and then worked for the Boulder County Road Division for eight years. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, Rinn Valley Grange and Sirloin Club. He was a past president and board member of Plump and Daley Ditch Co., a board member of Smith and Emmons Ditch Co. and a 50-year member and honorary life member of BPO Elks 1055, Longmont.
Mr. Thompson was a longtime 4-H leader and supporter of the Boulder County Fair. He was an active worker and involved in many community service activities. He dedicated himself to the promotion of the agricultural community and received the 2000 Longmont Old Timers Rodeo Community Old Timer of the Year award.
Mr. Thompson took great pride in his family's Scandinavian heritage and longtime association with Ryssby Church and First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 24, 1999; a brother, Irving Thompson; and four sisters, Beatrice Thompson, Rachael Howell and twins who died in infancy.
He is survived by two daughters, Kerby Chase and her husband John of Abilene, Kan., and Kristie Venrick and her husband Jim of Longmont; a brother, Dale K. Thompson and his wife Elaine of Casper, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Katie Lillard and her husband Randy of Talmage, Kan., Kody Chase of Abilene and Emily Venrick of Longmont; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Venrick of Denver and Jamie Venrick of South Carolina; a step-great-grandchild, Austin Venrick of South Carolina; two nieces, Glenna O'Neal and her husband Jim of Denver and Kim Conner and her husband Ron of Fort Collins; two nephews, Doug Howell and his wife Benita of Denver and Darwin Thompson and his wife Barbara of Casper; and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Bruce Welander and Bill Dion officiating. Interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

WARD, Doris L.
Sept. 2, 1915 - Dec. 10, 2001
Doris L. Ward of Longmont died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 86.
She was born Sept. 2, 1915, to Howard and Alice (Johnson) Neff in Calamus, Iowa.
On June 29, 1953, she married Oscar Ward in Phoenix.
Mrs. Ward was a teacher in public schools for more than 35 years until her retirement in 1979. She also was a homemaker.
She moved to Longmont in 1979 from Antioch, Calif.
Mrs. Ward was a member of United Methodist Women, Longmont Genealogical Society, Columbine Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the YMCA Fitness Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Longmont.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening. She volunteered at the senior center and enjoyed hiking in the mountains, which she did until she was in her 80s.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of Longmont; two daughters, Connie Anderson and her husband Gregg of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Sarah "Wendy" Johnson and Kenneth Kidder of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, Aaron Anderson and his wife Kamela of Bozeman, Mont., Justin Anderson of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Alex Johnson, Ben Johnson, Aimee Johnson and Kameron Kidder, all of Salt Lake City; and a sister, Ruth Enid Wellborn and Clifford Chase of Longmont.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at First United Methodist Church, 350 11th Ave., with the Rev. Granville D. Smythe Jr. officiating.
