Dorothy Irene Dahl
Dorothy Irene Dahl, 84, passed away on April 20, 2005, in Visalia, Calif.
She was born near Williston, N.D., to Robert and Sadie Hunter on July 17, 1920. During her childhood, she lived in North Dakota and Minnesota.
A graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. May 6, 2005, at Lakeside Cemetery, Cañon City.
Karen M. Cupp
Karen M. Cupp, 58, of Cañon City, died May 2, 2005, in Cañon City. A gathering of family and friends with visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, May 6, 2005, at Holt Family Funeral Home. Private family services will be at a later date.
Elayne A. Largent McKee
Elayne A. Largent McKee, 86, of Cañon City, died Feb. 24, 2005.
She was born July 19, 1918, in Hepler, Kan., to Cecil and Sylvia (Layne) Arnold. She moved to Florence in 1945 from Lamar. She and husband Charles Largent had a used car business in Florence until 1970.
Mrs. McKee worked at Headstart in Cañon City for several years and worked for Upjohn Home Health. Charles Largent preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1984. She then married Lonnie Dale McKee. After marriage to Mr. McKee, they traveled to Texas and California. She loved to fish in the gulf.
Mrs. McKee was a member of the AARP, Golden Age Center, Foursquare Church U.F.W., Florence Senior Center and Assembly of God missions group.
She is survived by children, Katherine (Loren) Adcock, Cañon City, Dorothy (Ray) Littig, Danville, Ohio, Robert L. Largent, Pahrump, Nev., Paul E. (Deanna) Largent, Lafayette, George A. (Sharon) Largent, Cañon City, Kim (Dennis) Roman, Cañon City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins in Colorado; niece, Karen B. Arnold; nephew, Daryll E. Arnold; niece, Elaine (Jim) Atwood all of Cañon City.
Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles F. Largent; second husband, Lonnie D. McKee; son, Charles Leon Largent; and brother, Ralph E. Arnold.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Holt Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at First Assembly of God Church, 4501 Bear Paw Drive, in Florence, with the Rev. Dorothy Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golden Age Center Shuttle, 728 Main St., Cañon City, CO 81212.

Thomas George Stack
Thomas George Stack, 85, Penrose, died Dec. 29, 2005.
He was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Thomas Francis and Caroline Lucille (Bruchler) Stack.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Parish, Cañon City; past member of the Knights of Columbus and a past Deacon of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sun City West, Ariz.
Thomas was raised in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended Trinity Junior College, then graduated in 1943 from Iowa State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Thomas married Marcella Vecera in 1944, beginning a 36 year career with Standard Oil Company of Indiana, first living in East Chicago, Ind., then moving to Griffith, Ind., in 1952, where he remained for 36 years to raise his family and continue his career in managerial positions with Standard Oil.
A highlight of Thomas's career was working on the Manhattan Project for the War Department during World War II.
After retirement, Thomas and Marcella enjoyed 14 years in Sun City West, Ariz., playing golf, socializing, and the warm climate, then moving to Indianapolis, Ind., in 1999 to be near their son, Dr. Michael Stack. Thomas and Marcella moved to Penrose in 2003 to live near their daughter, Mary.
In Penrose, Thomas was an avid bird and wildlife watcher.
He enjoyed his dog, the mountain views and also local cattle and horses, which reminded him of his childhood years with his father in the stockyards of Sioux City, Iowa.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcella. Also by children Dr. Michael (Jane) Stack Indian-apolis, Ind., Susan (Terry) Ruhs of Charlotte, N.C., Mary Stack and husband Hector Leyba, Penrose, Marcia Stack and husband Len Rosa of Valparaiso, Ind., Jane (Sonny) Buczek of Littleton and Tom Stack and wife Jill Parisi of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral Mass will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 611 N. 11th St., Cañon City.
Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Indianapolis, Ind.
Thomas will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael’s Church to be used for assistive listening devices for the hearing impaired.

Jack Calvin German
Cañon City barber Jack Calvin German, 68, died Feb. 25, 2005, in Cañon City.
Mr. German was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Hill City, S.D., to Oscar and Zema (Pond) German.
He graduated from Cañon City High School in 1955.
He was a barber for 40 years and owned Jack’s Barber Shop and A Cut Above Beauty Shop.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Cañon City, a member of the Barbers Union and of the Elks Lodge 610.
Mr. German spent may years with the Cañon City Recreation District, managing the ball parks.
He also owned a dozen rental properties in Cañon City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.
He was married for 49 years to his high school sweetheart, Marybelle Kester.
He is survived by his wife, Marybelle; three children, Gregory Scott German, Denver, Kurt Jay (Jennifer) German, Castle Rock, and Derek Layne German, Aurora; two grandchildren, Shaley Ann and Zayden Robert Bruce German both of Castle Rock; one sister, Yvonne (Paul) Moschetti, Nev.; and two brothers, Wilbur (Mary) German and Leonard (Evelyn) German, Ariz.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Holt Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Freehling and the Rev. Jack Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Cañon City.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Cañon City Recreational District for Scholarships for indigent children or to the United Presbyterian Church.

Helen E. Behrendt
Helen E. Behrendt, 89, died Feb. 25, 2005, at her home in Silver Cliff.
She was born to Everette W. and Daisy E. (Root) Newsom, on her grandfather Abraham Root’s homestead near Chivington.
She was the eldest grandchild of more than 50 and the longest surviving grandchild.
She married Charles A. Behrendt in Tribune, Kan., Sept 22, 1940, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990 with family, friends, and special guest, Evelyn Miller who introduced them.
She was a homemaker and mother.
She is survived by sisters, Stella Leister, and Thelma Swinney, both of Palo Alto, Calif.; her children, Charlotte A. Terral, Silver Cliff, Everette W. Behrendt, Pueblo, Vernon A. Behrendt, Pueblo, Terry L. Behrendt, Silver Cliff, and Charles A. (Mary) Behrendt Jr., Silver Cliff; grandchildren, Pamela L. Behrendt, Pueblo, Christine D. (Clint) Gookin, Colorado City, Terena H. Terral, Silver Cliff, Dustin C. Behrendt, Westcliffe, and Cliffton N. Behrendt, Silver Cliff; and numerous great-grandchildren, numerous friends, and numerous family and friends in the Kiowa County area.
Mrs. Behrendt was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Edna Mays; and her husband, Charles Sr.
Memorial graveside services will be at 2 p.m. March 5, 2005, at the Rosita Cemetery.

Robert ‘Bobby’ L. Barnes
Robert ‘Bobby’ L. Barnes, 50, died June 4, 2005, in Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. Barnes was raised in Wetmore, graduated from Florence High School in 1972, attended CSU-Fort Collins and graduated from CSU-Pueblo. Robert worked many years for his friend, Randy Carbo, in Carbo’s business.
He loved playing the piano and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Rose Marie Barnes; sister, Debra (Richard) Bassi; grandmother, Matilda Borrelli; aunt, Jeanna (Bill) Grisham; uncle, Dr. John (Trudy) Borrelli; special companion, Laurie Kruse; and special friend, Randy Carbo, both of Altanta, Ga.
There will be no viewing.
Private graveside services to be in Wetmore. The family will receive friends and relatives at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the family home in Wetmore.
In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Manna Missions for Cuba at Parkhill Baptist Church in Pueblo.
Dean E. Corning
Dean E. Corning, 82, of Florence, died June 13, 2006, in Cañon City. He was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Wet-more to Elver and Alta (Snyder) Corning.
He married Pauline Anderson in 1946 in Florence. He served in the United States Army Air Corp and was a veteran of World War II. He worked for many years with his brother, Clyde at the Corning Repair Shop in Florence and for the Department of Corrections for 24 years. He was a member of Lincoln Park Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald D. (Linda) Corning and Marvin L. (Val) Corning; granddaughters, Tiffany (Doug) Gimlick, Sheryl Corning, Heather Myers and Charity Corning; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brett Myers; special brother-in-law, Royal (Donna) Anderson; sisters, Mabel Smith and Verna Hazlett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2006, at Holt Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2006, in Mountain Vale Memorial Park with the Rev. Dale Dieter officiating.

Bert Allen Goodman
Bert Allen Goodman, 78, of Great Falls, Mont., died May 17, 2006, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Mont.
He was born May 8, 1928, in Canton, Mont., to Bertram and Jenny (Young) Goodman.
He graduated from high school in Stanford, Mont., in 1946.
He joined the U. S. Army shortly after graduation and served as a surgical technician at Tokyo General Hospital in Japan, where he was trained as a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital unit member.
He started his career in the Fish and Game Department in 1952.
In 1954, he was transferred to the Sun River Game and managed it for more than 33 years before retiring.
Survivors include daughters Paula (John) Price of Cañon City, and Cathy (Norman) Powell of Crabtree, Ore.; sons Cecil Goodman of Enumclaw, Wash. and Bert Eugene Goodman of Helena, Mont.; granddaugh-ter Paige Goodman of Enumclaw, Wash.; grandsons Clay Goodman of Enumclaw, Wash. and Pfc. John D. Maine of Fort Riley, Kan.; stepson Tom (Margo) Taylor of Magna, Utah; nieces Sandy (Ted) Williams of Livingston, Mont., Mary Jo (Roger) Engle, McLeod, Mont., Vickie Amundson, Missoula, Mont., Sharon Amundson, Butte, Mont., Cathy (David) Carlson, St. Paul, Minn. and Jennie (Tom) Baltutis, Minneapolis, Minn.; nephews, Fred (Alta) Bell, Bozeman, Mont., Cleber (Helen) Amundsen, Helena, Mont., Dale (Kay) Carlson, Minneapolis, Minn. and Keith (Liz) Carlson, Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; sister Jennie (Don) Carlson, Mound, Minn., sister Mary and brother-in-law Jack Bell, Livingston, Mont.; sister Viola (Mal) Lawrence, Helena, Mont.; and nephew Richard Bell of Livingston, Mont.
His memorial service will be 6 p.m. June 16, 2006, at the Choteau Baptist Church in Choteau, Mont.

Tracy Lea Rickerson Caldwell
Tracy Lea Rickerson Caldwell 36, died June 14, at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, from cancer.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1969, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Sharon (Heard) and Max Rickerson.
She grew up in Fort Scott and later made her home in Cañon City.
She is survived by her four daughters, Nichelle, Brooke, Kate and Kylie; her mother, Sharon Porter of Denver; her father and step-mother, Max and Carol Rickerson of Chanute, Kan.; sister, Tammy McClellan of Palco, Kan.; and brother, Dale Rickerson of Fort Scott, Kan., and grandfather John Heard of Iola, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucile Heard and grandparents, Charles and Mamie Rickerson.
Services will be at Waugh-Yokum Funeral Home, Iola, Kan., at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006.
A memorial has been established at the Cherry Street Youth Center in Chanute, Kan.

Kristin Hampton Helbert
Kristin Hampton Helbert age 36 of San Diego, California, formerly of Florence, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006.
Born April 23, 1970, to Jan and Becky (Hampton) Helbert of Carmel, Indiana, she was known lovingly to her mother as “Tissie Sue” and to her father as “Toad.“
Kristin was a 1988 graduate of Carmel High School and attended both Indiana and Purdue Universities.
She was the Director of Product Development for her company, Secure Payment Systems Inc. in San Diego.
Kristin is survived by her parents, Jan and Becky; brothers, Erik and Tyler of Indianapolis, and Weston and sister-in-law, Toni, of Scottsdale, Arizona; her grandmother, Maxine Hampton of Richmond, Indiana; several aunts, uncles, cousins and her very special friends, Linden Fellerman of San Diego and John “Bud” Jenkins of Colorado.
As a great lover of animals, having rescued many, she was survived by her long time and faithful companion, “Snoopy.“
Funeral Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday June 17, 2006, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center — Carmel, with calling from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

Marie Louise Guy
Marie Louise Guy was born in West Frankfort, Ill. to Joe and Helena Zavislan.
She grew up in Florence, where her family had the Morning Star Dairy.
She graduated from nursing school in 1944 and enlisted in the Army during World War II as a nurse, with the rank of Lt.
She was stationed at Scofield Base in Hawaii.
It was there, she met and married her husband of 50 years, Arlin Lee Guy on Dec. 11, 1945.
She was a nurse and caregiver.
She lived and worked in numerous hospitals and nursing facilities in Denver until she retired in 1985.
After the death of her husband in 1993 she moved to Rifle, and called the Colorado State Veteran’s Nursing Home, her home.
She is survived by her two children, Robert (Roberta) Guy and Beth (Ned) Bascom; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters Barbara Tedesko, Eileen Kalesti, Katherine Lessig, and sisters-in-law Rita and Irene.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arlin “Guy” Lee, her granddaughter Shannon Marie Adams, grandson Shane Bascom and her brothers Bernard and Joe.
There will be a service at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 3549 N. Navajo, Denver.
All are invited for lunch following the service.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Fort Logan.

Roy Barr
Roy Barr, 85, of Florence, died Aug. 16, 2006.
He was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Sanford, to George and Hettie (Downey) Barr.
He served in Europe during World War II with his brothers, Ray and Willis.
He received the Purple Heart Medal of Honor.
Upon returning from the war, he settled in Florence where he lived the rest of his life.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda; two sons, Andy and Ferrel; four sisters, Faye, Vivian, Doris and Georgia Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 in Lakeside Cemetery in Cañon City.
Arrangements were through Holt Family Florence Funeral Home in Florence.
Linda Sue Muller

Linda Sue Muller, 70, passed away Oct. 29, 2012.
survived by her husband, Doyle; sons, George of Aurora and James (Debbie) of Pueblo; grandchildren, Molly, Ethan, Aniston and Kalena; sister, Merry Lee (Fred) Lederhos and children Ben and Holly of Aurora.
Preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Johnny Kronenberger.
Linda was born in Englewood, Colo on Feb. 14, 1942, to Phillip and Barbara Kronenberger.
She was a member of World Foods, enjoyed sewing, loved books and was an avid reader.
Linda was an English teacher at Central High School for many years. There will be no viewing.
Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
