Concetta Serroni
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Concetta Serroni, 99, of Aurora, died at home on Saturday, June 18, 2005.
Mrs. Serroni was born April 22, 1906, in Durango.
She moved with her parents to Italy but returned to Durango at age 14. In 1955, Mrs. Serroni moved to the Denver area, where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, and son, Henry.
Survivors include her daughters Eleanor Serroni of Aurora, Va., Mary Ann Valentine of Denver, and Virginia Royce of Durango; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A rosary was said Sunday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Olinger Aurora Chase Mortuary. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Frank D. Hotter
A resident of Fairview Heights, Ill., Frank D. Hotter died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill. He was 68.
Mr. Hotter was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Greeley.
His father, Frank J. Hotter, was from Durango.
A retired lieutenant colonel for the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Hotter also worked at Boeing as a design engineer.
He was secretary of East Lodge No. 504 AF & AM (past master), Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine (directors staff and legion of honor), Belleville High Twelve (treasurer), Charles A Lindbergh Chapter 247 National Sojourners (life member), Dania Shrine Club, International Shrine Aviation Association (Life Member), Elk's Lodge No. 664 of Fairview Heights, Ill., and American Legion Post No. 137, O'Fallon, Ill.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie J. (Brown) Hotter of Fairview Heights, Ill.; two daughters Alice Geminn of Atlanta, Ga., and Janet Anderson of Belleville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; step-brother William Pomrenke of Grand Junction; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held June 21 at Kurrus Funeral Home and funeral services were June 22. Mr. Hotter was buried at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
June Vinetta Dunham Hubbard
June Vinetta Dunham Hubbard died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in Pagosa Springs. She was 87.
Mrs. Hubbard was born June 9, 1918, in Boulder to Clifford and Lillian Dunham.
While attending Boulder High School where her father taught music, Mrs. Hubbard sang in many of the school's operettas. In 1936, she graduated and then attended the University of Colorado. After graduation, she taught at Fort Lupton for one year.
On Oct. 24, 1941, Mrs. Hubbard married Lloyd Stanley Hubbard.
Later, she taught at Nederland, Lyons High School and Louisville High School. After teaching 20 years, she retired in 1977. Besides home economics, Mrs. Hubbard also taught Sunday school, vacation bible school and she tutored.
"I don't know why they pay me," she often said. "Teaching is something I really enjoy."
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1994.
Survivors include her four daughters: Marjorie Smith of Ignacio; Jeanine Lawrence of Longmont; Susan Steen of Decatur, Ark.; and May Chapman of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Darrell Howe Mortuary. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary. Interment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.
Beatrice I. Allen
Beatrice I. Allen died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Mantey Heights Rehab & Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 88.
Mrs. Allen was born June 13, 1916, in Neosho, Mo., to Clinton S. and Nina A. Walker Wilson.
She spent her childhood in Delta County and attended school in Missouri and Lazear.
On Feb. 11, 1934, she married Roy L. Allen in Delta.
Until they moved to Cortez, Mrs. Allen worked as a rancher's wife and homemaker. In Cortez, they operated a mobile-home retail store. After semi-retirement, they managed the Allen Mobile Home Park for their son and daughter-in-law. In addition, Mrs. Allen cooked for the Cortez School District.
Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son David W. Allen of Cortez; daughter Joyce Cundiff of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A graveside service will occur at 10 a.m. July 5 at the Cortez Cemetery, where her ashes will be buried.

John Jacob 'Jack' Siegrist II
John Jacob "Jack" Siegrist, II, 78, died from complications of Parkinson's Disease Friday, June 24, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Durango under the care of Hospice of Mercy.
Mr. Siegrist was born May 10, 1927, in Denver, the son of Ulrich S. and Ruby Lillian Simon Siegrist.
During World War II, he served in the Navy. He graduated from Denver University with a degree in civil engineering. Both he and his brother spent most of their lives in highway construction.
In 1967, Mr. Siegrist moved to Durango after he purchased the Burnett Construction Company. The Colorado Contractor's Association awarded him the "Pioneer of Construction in Colorado." He retired in 1993.
On Aug. 21, 1983, he married Sandra Monk in Durango.
As a licensed pilot, Mr. Siegrist enjoyed flying. Other hobbies included golfing and skiing. He also enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Monk Siegrist; son John Jacob Siegrist, Jr.; daughter Janet Pettigrew, all of Durango; brother Robert L. Siegrist of Denver; three grandsons and a granddaughter.
Service times will be released by the family at a later date. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Health Foundation, 375 E. Park Ave., Durango, CO 81301.
James Wiley McCabe
James Wiley McCabe died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez. He was 76.
Mr. McCabe was born on May 17, 1929, in Granath Mesa to Blanche (Kuykendall) and Charles Thomas McCabe.
He married Ethel Doris Cruikshank on Feb. 13, 1955, in Aztec. They were married for 42 years before she died in 1999.
Mr. McCabe was a member and officer of the Mancos Volunteer Fire Department and was one the department's first emergency medical technicians.
For more than 30 years, Mr. McCabe was employed by the Match Factory.
He was among the many who helped build Jackson Lake.
In his spare time, Mr. McCabe enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the mountains.
His family said that if anyone needed help, he was there for them.
Survivors include his three children, Barbara Zeutzius of Mancos, William James McCabe of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Evelyn "Susie" Small of Mancos; two sisters, Catherine Pettinguill of Portland, Ore., and Mildred Pickens of Mancos; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. McCabe was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and grandson, Anthony Vallejos.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mancos Volunteer Fire Department.
Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Bud Rousset will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. McCabe's name at the Mancos Valley Bank.
Floyd Lewis Bramwell
Floyd Lewis Bramwell, 91, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Pine Ridge Extended Care Center in Pagosa Springs.
One of 11 children, Mr. Bramwell was born Sept. 27, 1913, to Jake and Hattie Bramwell.
Mr. Bramwell attended grade school in Pagosa Springs. He excelled in math and played basketball.
He met Jenny Virginia Amyx in third grade, and they married on May 27, 1940. Together they had four children.
Before he married, Mr. Bramwell participated in rodeos and worked ranch jobs. Many considered him the best bronco-busting cowboy around, and he won several local championships. He won a silver cup and championship bridle in 1933 and the trophy for "Best All-Around Cowboy" two years later and again in 1939.
Besides being a skilled horseman, Mr. Bramwell was a rancher and heavy-equipment operator.
He worked as a foreman for At Last Ranch in the 1940s and Red Ryder Ranch in the '50s.
During the '40s, he worked as chief of police in Pagosa Springs.
He and his wife became some of the first licensed Colorado outfitters and guides after they began a business in the '50s.
The Bramwell family lived on Wolf Creek Pass, where Mr. Bramwell helped plow roads.
From 1961 to 1975, he worked as street commissioner for Pagosa Springs.
After retirement, he and his wife continued to ranch on Shoestring Ranch, and they ran their outfitting-and-guide business. In their 70s, they sold the business and relocated to Arboles. Then, in 2000, they moved to Pine Ridge Extended Care Facility for health reasons.
The Bramwells helped finance the building of the current Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bramwell of Pagosa Springs; his sons, Douglas Rex Bramwell of Bloomfield, N.M., and Floyd Gary Bramwell of Pagosa Springs; his daughter, Marvel Bramwell of Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bramwell was preceded in death by his daughter Connie and his grandson Rex Bramwell.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hood Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pagosa Springs. The Rev. Aaron Hatfield will officiate.
Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery in Pagosa Springs.
Andrew Matthew Calloway
Andrew Matthew Calloway, 14, died from injuries after he was hit by a acar while riding his bicycle on Friday, June 17, 2005, in Silverton.
Andrew was born June 7, 1991, in Bucyrus, Ohio.
He played for both the Silverton/Ouray basketball team and track and field team. He was also an avid snowboarder and mountain biker.
"He was an outdoor person and was always on the go," said his mother. Andrew had an outgoing personality that helped him become an excellent delivery person in Silverton.
Survivors include his mother Tammy Lee of Silverton; step-father Clifford Lee, Jr. of Silverton; grandparents Jenny and George Mason of Silverton; grandparents Amy and Jene Long of Kanton, Ohio; great-grandmother Eva Lee of Las Vegas; sister Crystal Calloway of Silverton; uncle Joe and aunt Vickie Long of Kanton, Ohio; aunt Corina Harward of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many aunts, uncles and cousins,
