Dorothy L. Kreidler
Jan. 26, 1922 - March 1, 2001
MONTROSE - Dorothy L. Kreidler, age 79, a resident of Montrose since 1950, died early Thursday morning, March 1, 2001, at her home in Montrose.
Dorothy Haynes was born in Hemingford, Neb., on Jan. 26, 1922, the daughter of Howard Haynes and Agnes (Kula) Haynes. Dorothy was raised in Julesburg, Colo., where she graduated from high school, and grew to adulthood. She continued to pursue her education at the University of Denver from 1940 to 1942, earning an associate degree in Business Administration.
Dorothy was joined in marriage with John E. Kreidler on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1942, in Evergreen, Colo. They were the parents of two sons and had the joy of celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary last month.
Dorothy and John moved to Montrose in 1950 where they made their home until the time of Dorothy's death.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary and steno with the Bureau of Reclamation from 1965 to 1979.
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Montrose and served on the church Altar Guild. She was very active in the Ladies Golf Association, was a past president and charter member of P.E.O. Chapter FJ, and a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Special interests in Dorothy's life that brought her so much joy and happiness were her church, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors who were blessed to share Dorothy's life include her husband, John E. Kreidler, of Montrose; two sons: John E. "Jack" Kreidler III and wife Linda, of Fort Morgan; Theodore "Ted" Kreidler and wife Charlene, of Aurora; and four precious granddaughters: Holly Kreidler, Michelle Kreidler, Zoe Kreidler, and Ivy Kreidler.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and two sisters.
Memorial Services in loving remembrance and to celebrate Dorothy's life will be officiated by Rev. Tom Belt on Monday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Montrose. The service will conclude at the church.
At Dorothy's request, cremation has taken place.

Archie E. Sanderson
Parish Oil Truck Driver
Dec. 22, 1937 - Feb. 27, 2001
OLATHE - Archie E. Sanderson, age 63, a resident of Olathe for 45 years, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 27, 2001, in Gunnison while driving a truck.
Archie E. Sanderson, one of 12 children, was born on Dec. 22, 1937, in Eckley, Colo., the son of Roy and Alma (Stuck) Sanderson. He spent his childhood, graduated from high school, and grew to adulthood in Eckley.
Archie proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.
On June 24, 1966, he was joined in marriage, for a lifetime partnership, with Glenda Blankenship in Nevada. Archie and Glenda were the parents of three children and they cherished their memories of sharing 34 years of marriage.
Archie logged for many years in the surrounding mountain areas of Montrose. The last few years he drove a truck for Parish Oil Co. of Montrose.
Archie and his family moved to Olathe 45 years ago where they made their home until the time of his death.
He enjoyed fishing and various woodworking. Archie loved to tinker with many different things - taking apart and reassembling. He also enjoyed the many hours he spent truck driving.
Surviving family members very grateful to share Archie's life include his wife, Glenda Sanderson, of Olathe; a son, Tyson Sanderson, also of Olathe; a daughter, Peggy and husband Cecil Johnson, of Westminster; a son, Dennis Sanderson, of Midwest City, Okla.; and one precious granddaughter, Brittany Sanderson.
Other family survivors include four brothers: Lester, Ray, Lincoln, Johnny; and three sisters: Margaret, Cledia, and Lou.
Archie was preceded in death by both of his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Sunday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to say farewell to Archie will be officiated on Monday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. The service will conclude at the chapel.

Jack Samuel Toney
WW II Vet, Devoted Husband and Father
April 25, 1918 - Feb. 12, 2001
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - A frequent visitor to Montrose, Jack Toney, died in his Walnut Creek, Calif., home on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, surrounded by his wife and several of his children.
Born on April 25, 1918, in Aurora, Ill., Jack Samuel Toney was the son of Albert and Ruth (Butterbaugh) Toney. He spent his childhood years in Aurora and attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill.
On June 23, 1942, Jack was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mildred "Mel" (Marcuson) Toney.
Shortly after their marriage, during World War II, Jack enlisted in the United States Army, attended Officers Candidate School and was commissioned as a First Lieutenant attached to the 778th Battalion of the 3rd Army. He received battle stars for four major battles of the European Theatre: the Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, Central Europe, and the Rhineland. He was among the first troops to liberate Buchanwald. Jack was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.
Jack and Mel loved to travel and enjoyed cycling, tennis, and golf. A favorite memory was a five-day horseback trip in the Big Cimarron celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Jack was an active member of the St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Carmel Valley, Calif. Services were held there on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001.
Family members who were truly blessed to have shared his life include his wife of 58 years, Mel Toney, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Jack and Susan Toney, of Seattle, Wash.; Marcia and Bill Humphrey, of Salinas, Calif.; Melissa and Jim Sullivan, of Montrose; Marc and MaryLynn Toney, of Poway, Calif.; Jon and Lee Ann Toney, of Nevada City,Calif.; and Jill and John Dann, of Orinda, Calif. Ten lucky grandchildren were privileged to call him "Boompa."
His parents, two sisters, and one brother preceded him in death.
Jack Samuel Toney was truly a member of the greatest generation.
Homer H. White
Retired Superintendent of Mail

MONTROSE - Lifetime Montrose resident, Homer H. White, age 88, died Thursday morning, March 1, 2001, in the San Juan Living Center at Montrose.
Homer H. White, the son of William White and Marie V. (Smith) White, was born on June 26, 1912, in Montrose, Colo., where he spent his childhood years, graduated from Montrose County High School, and established his home his entire lifetime.
Homer married Alberta L. Fender at the old St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Main St. in Montrose. Their lives together were enriched when they became the parents of three sons. Homer and Alberta had the joy of sharing 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Early in Homer's career, he assisted his father as a building contractor for White Oakey Contractors. They built the Montrose Courthouse, the old St. Mary's Catholic Church building, and the United Methodist Church in Montrose, to name a few. Then Homer left the building contractor business and was employed with the United States Post Office in Montrose as a carrier, moving to the position of superintendent of mail. He was employed with the Montrose Post Office until his retirement.
He was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, a Past Master of the Mason, a past president of The Knife & Fork Club, a lifetime member of Montrose Elks Lodge No. 1053, B.P.O.E., and a member of the Lions Club.
Homer enjoyed fishing, amateur ham radio, picnicking with his family and friends, and arrowhead hunting. A favorite pastime was working in the yard. All who knew and loved Homer will cherish their memory of him enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Surviving family members who were bless to share Homer's life include his wife, Alberta White; and one son, Kenneth L. White, both of Montrose.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; one sister, who died at birth; and two sons: Robert White, who died as an infant; and Lieutenant Kenneth White, who died later in life.
Private Family Graveside Masonic Services in loving remembrance of Homer's life will be officiated on Tuesday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cedar Cemetery
at Montrose.

Grant Ferrier
Rancher, Licensed Guide
Jan. 22, 1908 - March 3, 2001
CRAWFORD - Grant Ferrier, age 93, a lifetime Crawford resident, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in the Paonia Care Center at Paonia.
Grant Ferrier, the son of Clint Ferrier and Verna (Taylor) Ferrier, was born on Jan. 22, 1908, in Crawford, Colo., where he spent his childhood years, received his education - completing the eight grade at Grandview School, grew to adulthood, and lived his entire lifetime.
On Jan. 23, 1928, Grant was joined in marriage, for a lifetime partnership, with Mamie Watson in Delta, Colo. Their lives together were enriched when they became the parents of four children. Grant and Mamie had the joy of celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary this year in January.
Grant was a lifelong rancher. He was also active in guiding and outfitting from 1938 through 1996. He was one of the first licensed guides in Colorado.
He was a member of the Colorado Guide and Outfitters Association, the Colorado Dude and Guest Ranch Association, belonged to the National Rifle Association (NRA), served on the U.S. Forest Service Advisory Board, was a Range Boss, and a U.S. Forest Service Fire Warden.
During his lifetime, Grant especially enjoyed and found happiness in hunting, the outdoors, horses, mules, and livestock.
Surviving family members who were blessed to share Grant's life include his wife, Mamie Ferrier, of Crawford; one son, Dellis Ferrier, of Paonia; two daughters: Velma Warren, of Anchorage, Alaska; Wilma Jackson, of Crawford; 14 precious grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include three sisters: Alma Weinante, of Maher; Irenea Davenport, of Paonia; Ula Weinante, of St. David, Ariz.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Grant was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Philip Ferrier; one son, Lilborn Ferrier; and one grandson, James Ferrier.
An informal gathering of family and friends to lovingly remember Grant's life will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Hall at the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss. Please come as you are.

Eleanore Jean Huggett
Retired Office Manager

CEDAREDGE - Eleanore Jean Huggett, age 76, a retired office manager and a resident of Cedaredge for 13 years, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital at Grand Junction.
Eleanore Jean Davis, the daughter of Lawrence Edward Davis and Elva Faye (Pardee) Davis, was born on Aug. 12, 1924, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She spent her teenage years at Elmonte, Calif., where she received her education and grew to adulthood.
On March 8, 1942, Eleanore was married in El Monte, Calif., to Martin Winfield Huggett, who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1985, in Brea, Calif.
In 1988, she moved from LaPuente, Calif., to Cedaredge where she had made her home for 13 years at the time of her death.
Eleanore was a Christian and served as president of the Cedaredge Senior Citizens and S.H.A.R.I. in Cedaredge. She volunteered at Horizons Health Care Center at Eckert where she taught crafts and ceramics. Eleanore also started the Adopt-A-Grandparent program at Horizons.
Eleanore had numerous hobbies and special interests during her lifetime. She found joy and happiness in crafts, miniature dollhouses, sewing, cake decorating, making candy, knitting, crocheting, and was a great animal lover. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.
Eleanore greatly enjoyed her classic car, winning second place at a car show she drove to in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and winning Marshal's Choice at a car show in Cedaredge. She loved her computer, upholstering automobile seats, and while her husband was alive, she enjoyed RVing and their boat. Eleanore truly loved and treasured her grandchildren.
Survivors who were blessed to share Eleanore's life include one son, Gerald W. Huggett and wife Ellen, of Cedaredge; and one daughter-in-law, Mimi Doke, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Eleanore was the proud and loving grandmother of five precious grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include four brothers: Lawrence "Bing" Davis, of Arcadia, Calif.; Donald "Buddy" Davis, of Alta Loma, Calif.; Howard Davis, of Alhambra, Calif.; Morris Davis, of Henderson, Nev.; and one sister, Shirley LaVoie, of Upland, Calif.
Along with both of her parents and her husband, Martin, Eleanore was also preceded in death by one son, Martin "Marty" Huggett; one brother, George Davis; and one grandson.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, March 2, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedaredge.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Eleanore's life will be officiated by Lawrence Thompson and Bishop Donald Pyle on Friday, March 2, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedaredge. The service will conclude at the church.
Interment will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery
at Whittier, Calif.

Wendell R. Fobare
Carpenter and Musician

HOTCHKISS - Wendell R. Fobare, age 84, a resident of Hotchkiss most of his life, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center at Paonia.
Wendell R. Fobare, the son of Frank Fobare and Rovenia (Holybee) Fobare, was born on Oct. 19, 1916, in Hotchkiss, Colo., where he spent his childhood years, graduated from Hotchkiss High School with the class of 1935, and grew to adulthood.
Wendell married Bessie Drake and she preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1949.
On Feb. 26, 1959, he was joined in marriage with Gladys Leger in Gunnison, Colo. They had the privilege of celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary last month.
Wendell was a carpenter and musician and lived in Lake City, Colo., for 17 years, with the rest of his lifetime being spent in Hotchkiss.
He was a member of Hotchkiss Elks Lodge No. 1807, B.P.O.E.
During his lifetime, Wendell found happiness in fishing and hunting, and loved to play his fiddle and saxophone.
Survivors who were blessed to share Wendell's life include his wife, Gladys Fobare, of Hotchkiss; one son, Charles Fobare and wife Jeannie, of Erie; one daughter Barbara and husband Lee Morgan, of Hotchkiss; 12 precious grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and first wife, Bessie; Wendell was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Moore; his twin brother, Wayne Fobare; one stepson, Paul Morgan; and one granddaughter, Wyllnn Moore.
Graveside Services in loving remembrance and to honor Wendell's life will be officiated by Art Wolverton and Hotchkiss Elks Lodge No. 1807 on Friday, March 9, at 2 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
at Crawford.
