DELTA - Mary J. Dausel, age 76, a homemaker and a resident of Delta, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in the Delta Care Center.
Mary J. Cochran, the daughter of James N. Cochran and Carolyn Elmina (Ritchey) Cochran, was born on March 25, 1924, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she spent her childhood years, received her education, and grew to adulthood.
On Sept. 16, 1956, Mary was joined in marriage with Henry Dausel in Ely, Nev. Henry preceded Mary in death in Delta.
Prior to making her home in Delta, Mary had lived at Ridgway, Montrose, and Naturita.
She was a member of the Baptist Church of Montrose.
Special interests in Mary's life that brought her happiness included crocheting, embroidery, and reading. Mary raised a grandson from the age of 6.
Survivors include two sons, of Texas and Iowa; one daughter, of Denver; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Other family survivors include seven brothers, of Arizona, three in Iowa, and Utah; and three sisters, of California and Iowa.
Along with both of her parents and husband, Henry, Mary was also preceded in death by three daughters, and two brothers.
No services are planned.

Frank T. Gard
Decorated World War II Veteran
Feb. 18, 1915 - April 23, 2001
OLATHE - Frank T. Gard, age 86, a retired carpenter and a resident of Olathe since 1983, died early Monday morning, April 23, 2001, at his home in Olathe.
Frank T. Gard, the son of Frank Gard and Edna (Duhig) Gard, was born on Feb. 18, 1915, in Hamburg, Iowa. He spent his childhood years in Independence, Mo., where he graduated from the Independence High School, and grew to adulthood.
During World War II, Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 as a surgical technician. He served in France, Belgium, Germany, and the Philippines, receiving various medals for his accomplishments.
Frank married Ruth M. Zook on Sept. 28, 1992, in Olathe, Colo. Frank and Ruth moved from Denver to Olathe in 1983 where they made their home until the time of Frank's death.
Frank loved being in Olathe - the place he called home. He also loved and enjoyed the mountains, his neighbors, taking care of the grounds, his vegetable garden, and the community flower garden.
Survivors very grateful to share Frank's life include two stepsons: Ben Dunning, of Olathe; David Dunning, of Denver; and four stepdaughters: Judy Ross, of Thornton, Wyo.; Jackie Hobbs, of Kansas City, Mo.; Vera Baca, of Denver; and Veronica Manuel, of Garden Grove, Calif.
Frank was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Ruth; and one stepson, Larry Dunning, who died in August of 1997.
At Frank's request, cremation has take place.
Memorial Services in loving remembrance of Frank's life were held in Olathe.
Inurnment will be held in the Floral Hills Cemetery
in Kansas City, Mo., next to his wife, Ruth M. Gard.

Isabel Watkins
Retired 30-Year Waitress
April 17, 1917 - April 21, 2001
DELTA - Isabel Watkins, age 84, a resident of Delta for 21 years, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in the Delta Care Center at Delta four days before she would have celebrated her 85th birthday.
Born on April 17, 1917, in Omaha, Neb., Isabel Ward was the daughter of James A. Ward and Catherine (Keenan) Ward. She spent her childhood years in Crawford, Colo., where she graduated from high school in 1937 and grew to adulthood.
Isabel's marriage to Charles Watkins ended in divorce.
She lived in California before establishing her home in Delta 21 years ago where she remained until the time of her death.
Prior to her retirement, Isabel was employed as a waitress for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Delta.
Isabel loved and enjoyed oil painting, working in her yard, and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors who were blessed to share Isabel's life include one sister, Rita Kirkman, of Delta; three nephews: James Kirkman, of Anaheim, Calif.; Robert Kirkman, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; Phillip Miller, of Denver; and one niece, Sheila Stratton, also of Denver.
Mass of the Resurrection in loving remembrance of Isabel's life will be celebrated by The Rev. Mike Smith on Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta.
Inurnment will follow the Mass in the Riverside Cemetery
at Hotchkiss.

Dorothy M. Pollard
Active in Church & as a Volunteer
Oct. 9, 1916 - April 22, 2001
DELTA - Dorothy M. Pollard, age 84, of Delta, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the Delta Care Center at Delta.
Dorothy M. Merker, the oldest of four children, was born on Oct. 9, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Emma (Kleeman) Merker. She spent her childhood years in Chicago, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1934 and then worked as a dental assistant in offices in Chicago, Ill., and Denver.
In 1937, Dorothy married Robert Charles Stippe. To their union one daughter, Jill Deanne Stippe, was born. Following World War II, the couple's marriage ended in divorce.
In 1958, Dorothy was joined in marriage with Ernest Pollard of Short Hills, N.J. They lived in Greensburg, Pa., and Sedona, Ariz. Ernest preceded Dorothy in death in 1984.
Following Ernest's death, Dorothy worked two days a week at Tlaqapaque, in Sedona, Ariz. She was active in the Church of the Red Rocks in Sedona, and was a volunteer at the Girls Ranch in Flagstaff, Ariz.
In 1997, Dorothy moved back to Chicago, Ill., to live with her younger sister, Barbara Ristau, and to be close to her brother, Albert "Bud" Merker. In 2000 and in declining health, she moved to assisted living at the Atrium in Grand Junction to be near her daughter and son-in-law in Paonia.
Those who knew and loved Dorothy knew just how fortunate they were to have her touch their lives. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving family members very grateful to share Dorothy's life include one daughter, Jill and husband Robert Puckett, of Paonia; and four precious grandchildren: Rick, of Orange County, Calif.; Craig, of Corpus Christi, Texas; Mike, of Denver; Kathy, of Colorado Springs; and two great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Ashley.
Other family survivors include one brother, Albert "Bud" Merker; one sister, Barbara Ristau, both of Chicago, Ill.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Graveside Services to honor Dorothy's life will be officiated by Rev. Joel Millermon of Hutchinson, Kan., on Thursday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the family cemetery at Partridge, Kan.

Frances Louise Perry
Beloved Mother, Grandmother
April 25, 1918 - April 21, 2001
MONTROSE - Former Olathe resident, Frances Louise Perry, age 82, a resident of Montrose for two and a half years, died Saturday morning, April 21, 2001, at her home in Montrose four days before she would have celebrated her 83rd birthday.
Frances Louise Watson was born in Selma, Calif., on April 25, 1918, the daughter of Lester L. Watson and Pearle (Jones) Watson. Shortly after her birth, the family moved from Selma to Fresno, Calif., where she spent her childhood, graduated from the Fresno High School in 1936, and grew to adulthood.
Frances raised her three children by herself.
She was employed as a sales clerk in clothing for 40 years in Fresno and then Ventura, Calif., from 1964 until her retirement at the age of 62 in 1989.
Frances moved from Fresno to Olathe, Colo., with her daughter and her family in 1989. Two and a half years ago Frances relocated to the Coal Creek community near Montrose, making Montrose her home until the time of her death.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for women for over 40 years, along with holding memberships to No. 8 and 40, where she held seven offices in Post 339 in Ventura, Calif.
Frances had been an avid reader. She greatly enjoyed arts, crafts, and sewing. Above all, the greatest pride and joy of Frances' life was in her children and grandchildren.
Surviving family members who were blessed to share Frances' life include her three children: Richard Perry and wife Caryle, of Tacoma, Wash.; Patricia and husband Frank Beaston; and Ronald Perry, all of Montrose.
Frances was a loving and doting grandmother to her five precious grandchildren: Gerald English Jr. and wife Lori, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Ronald Perry and wife Laura, of Puyallup, Wash.; Sandra Jutte; John Perry, both of Tacoma, Wash.; Tamara Beaston-Schrowang, of McNabb, Ill; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Frances was preceded in death by both of her parents; and two brothers: Felix and Alvin Watson.
Cremation has taken place, with a Memorial Service and inurnment to be held at a later date in Fresno, Calif.

Merlynn Eugene Bruce
Former G.J. Businessman
Nov. 30, 1936 - April 21, 2001
MONTROSE - Former Grand Junction businessman, Merlynn Eugene Bruce, age 64, a resident of Montrose for less than a year, died Saturday evening, April 21, 2001, in the San Juan Living Center at Montrose.
Merlynn Eugene Bruce was born in Lenora, Kan., on Nov. 30, 1936, the son of Mervin E. Bruce and Gladys (Coop) Bruce.
In 1954, Merlynn was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Phyllis J. Reneau. They had the joy of celebrating 38 years of marriage before Phyllis' death on April 7, 1992, in Grand Junction.
Merlynn was the founder, owner, and operator of Monument Camera in Grand Junction until he sold his business when Phyllis became very ill.
He moved to Montrose less than a year ago to be closer to family, where he made his home until the time of his death.
Merlynn's favorite pastime was photography and photo finishing. He loved and enjoyed collecting coins, guns, and cameras. Merlynn taught his children a special appreciation for nature, and they will always cherish their memories of the love and attention he gave to his ill wife and their mother for 20 years.
Survivors very grateful to share Merlyn's life include three daughters: Peggy Bruce, of San Francisco, Calif.; Jeannie and husband Kyle Phillips; Diana and husband Steve Caddy, all of Montrose; and four very special grandchildren.
Other family survivors include two sisters: Barbara Schamaun, of Thornton; and Wanda Schadig, of Cope.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
At Merlynn's request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Rannette (Moore) Myers
Beloved Wife and Mother
Nov. 30, 1971 - April 21, 2001
GRAND JUNCTION - Rannette (Moore) Myers, age 29, a lifetime Grand Junction resident, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Pueblo.
Rannette Moore, the daughter of Douglas Moore and Judith A. (Ebbs) Moore, was born on Nov. 30, 1971, in Grand Junction, Colo., where she spent her childhood years, went to R 5 High School, grew to adulthood, and made her home until the time of her death.
In 1994, Rannette was joined in marriage with Matthew Myers.
She was employed as a grocery store clerk.
Among the loves in Rannette's life were singing and making people laugh.
Surviving family members very grateful to share Rannette's life include her husband, Matt Myers, of Denver; one son, Brandon Myers; and three daughters: Tiarra Myers and Kelly Myers, all of Denver; and Alexis Stucker, of Grand Junction.
Other family survivors include her parents, Doug and Judy Moore; one sister, Charlotte Moore, all of Grand Junction; her maternal grandparents, Scotty and Ann Angel, of Delta; one aunt, Joan and husband David Woolley, of Cedaredge; and one uncle, Mike Ebbs, of Florida.
Rannette was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Drexel and Mary Moore; and her maternal grandfather, John Ebbs.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance, to honor and say farewell to Rannette will be officiated by Pastor Rex Newkirk on Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Grand Junction.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Friday, April 27, at noon in the Cedaredge Cemetery.

Carol C. Sypherd
Retired Tool, Die Maker
Aug. 3, 1915 - April 20, 2001
PAONIA - Carol C. Sypherd, age 85, a resident of Paonia since 1976, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his home in Paonia.
Carol C. Sypherd, the youngest of the Sypherd family, was born on Aug. 3, 1915, on a homestead near Flagler, Colo., the son of Oliver J. and Cora (Sanders) Sypherd. In 1918, the Sypherd family moved to Hastings, Neb., where Carol spent his childhood years, received his education, and grew to adulthood.
On May 4, 1935, he married Jessie Elfers. In 1948, they moved to Bend, Ore., and Jessie died in 1953. Carol and his daughter, Evelyn, moved to Denver in 1956.
Prior to his retirement, Carol was employed at the Rocky Flats plant as a tool and die maker for 20 years.
In 1959, Carol married Maureen A. Williams in Denver, Colo. Carol and Maureen lived in the Denver area until his retirement in 1976 when they moved to Paonia. Maureen preceded Carol in death in 1987.
A brief marriage to Barbara Endsley of Hotchkiss ended in divorce.
Carol is survived by his beloved daughter, Evelyn Sypherd, of Colorado Springs, who was so grateful to share her father's life.
In addition to both of his parents and two of his wives, Carol was also preceded in death by two sisters: Wanda and Ruth; and four brothers: Harvey, Dewey, Richard, and Leon.
He was a member of the Paonia Church of Christ, the Rocky Flats Homesteaders, and Metro Denver Steelwork Oldtimers.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Carol's life were officiated by Pastor Don Carney on Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at the Paonia Church of Christ.
Interment followed the service in the Cedar Hill Cemetery
at Paonia.

James William Wildman
World War II Veteran
Jan. 15, 1925 - April 19, 2001
MONTROSE - James William Wildman, age 76, died Thursday evening, April 19, 2001, at his home in Montrose.
Born on Jan. 15, 1925, in Santa Cruz, Calif., James William Wildman was the son of Carl Colfax Wildman and Mary Margaret (Moore) Wildman. He spent his childhood years in Mineola, Mo., and graduated from Palmyra High School in Palmyra, Mo., where he grew to adulthood.
During World War II, James proudly served his country in the United States Army from June of 1943 to November of 1945.
On May 18, 1947, he was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Billie Joyce Grey, in Mineola, Mo. James and Billie's union was blessed with three daughters and they had the joy of celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary last year in May.
James was employed as a pipefitter for many years as well as being a volunteer church construction worker. He assisted in the construction of many churches in Colorado and Arizona.
The Wildmans moved from Missouri to Colorado where they made their home until the time of James' death.
He was a member of the Rosemont Baptist Church of Montrose, and belonged to the Lions Club.
No matter what their need, James loved and enjoyed helping and assisting others.
Surviving family members who were blessed to share James' life include his wife, Billie J. Wildman, of Montrose; three daughters: Cathy Wildman and Chris Marshall, both of Aurora; Linda Gray, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four precious grandchildren: Larry Gray Jr., Michelle Houston, Sarah Marshall, and Stephanie Marshall.
Other family survivors include two sisters: Virginia Jones, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Charlotte Baker, of Gainsville, Ga.
James was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Bob Wildman; and two sisters: Margaret Inman and Patricia Critten.
Friends are welcome to gather at the family home on Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Memorial Services in loving remembrance and to honor James' life will be officiated by Rev. Bob Swift and Pastor Wayne Thompson on Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at the Rosemont Baptist Church in Montrose. Cremation has taken place and the service will conclude at the church.
