Cora 'Maudie' Luellen
Loving Mother, Grandmother
June 26, 1914 - March 8, 2000
OLATHE - Cora "Maudie" Luellen, age 85, a homemaker and a resident of Olathe since 1971, died Wednesday morning, March 8, 2000, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Cora Been, the daughter of William Henry and Maude Alice (Brown) Been, was born on June 26, 1914, in Sargent, Neb.
Maudie married Forest C. Luellen on Sept. 16, 1929, in Craig, Colo. They were the parents of six children.
In 1971, the Luellens moved from Larkspur, Colo., to Olathe where Maudie made her home until the time of her death. She lost her husband to death on May 26, 1979, in Montrose.
While residing in Larkspur, Maudie was a member of the Eastern Star.
She loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Maudie enjoyed bowling for many years and had such a great time and so much fun gambling.
Survivors very grateful to share Maudie's life are one son, Bill Luellen and wife Gloria, of Olathe; and five daughters: Betty and husband Leonard Sherman, of Olathe; Donna and husband Frank Eidson, of Englewood; Bonnie and husband Dean Reichen, of Larkspur; Sherrie and husband Tom Cooper, of Olathe; and Gwen Luellen, of Denver.
She was the proud and loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maudie was also preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Maudie's life will be officiated on Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Sherman, Norman Reichen, Forest Reichen, Rick McDonald, Twister Luellen, Rusty Church, Nicholas Starr, Zachary Starr, Corey Luellen, Justin Reichen.
Interment will follow the service in the Olathe Cemetery
at Olathe.

Sherry Lynn (McBride) Kibel
From a Large Loving Family
July 10, 1950 - Oct. 8, 2000
CORTEZ - Sherry Lynn McBride, the daughter of Guy Frank McBride and Mary Lou (Lokey) McBride, was born on July 10, 1950, in Tyler, Texas. She died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at her home in Cortez at the age of 50.
Sherry was active riding horses in Junior Rodeo. She even rode a bull once to show her brother how it was done. Sherry graduated from the Basalt High School in 1968.
She was a member of the New Hope Christian Ministries.
Sherry loved to hunt, fish, and sew.
A large loving family is left to cherish Sherry's memory, and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors very grateful to share Sherry's life include her mother, Mary Lou McBride, of Cortez; one daughter, Lorla and husband Robert Fossat, of Price, Utah; three sons: Chad Kibel and wife Laci, of Cortez; and Ray Kibel-Pehrson and wife, Cheryl, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mark Kibel, of Cortez.
Sherry was the proud and loving grandmother of four precious grandchildren: Justee Pehrson, Cole Fossat, Nichole Kibel, and Cali Fossat.
Other family survivors include two brothers: John McBride, of Temple, Texas; Guy McBride, of Montrose; three nieces: Ronda McBride, Krista McBride, Breanna McBride, all of Cortez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Sherry's life will be officiated by Pastors Jonathan Bland and David Merritt on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel in Cortez.
Interment will follow the service in the Cortez Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sherry Kibel at the Citizens State Bank of Cortez.

L.C. Bullock
Retired Shell Oil Supervisor
Nov. 11, 1916 - Oct. 7, 2000
SOMERSET - L.C. Bullock, age 83, a World War II veteran and a resident of Somerset for two and a half years, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital at Grand Junction. L.C. was a retired supervisor of Shell Oil in Denver.
L.C. Bullock, the son of John Harvey Bullock and Clara Ann (Oliver) Bullock, was born on Nov. 11, 1916, in Anthony, Kan., where he spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood.
During World War II, L.C. proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He married Ann Bretshie Nee-Wolf on Sept. 12, 1950, in Mannheim-Waldhof, Germany. Ann preceded L.C. in death.
L.C. lived in Denver from 1950 until 1998 when he moved to Somerset where he remained until the time of his death.
Survivors very grateful to share L.C.'s life include one brother, Robert Bullock, of Olathe; seven sisters: Mary and husband Matt Rummel, of Oklahoma; Pearl Nation, of Somerset; Ulah Lust, Dema and husband Payne Morris, Mattie and husband Chuck Arroy, all of California; Dovie Story, of Austin, Colo., Dorothy and husband Wayne George, of Paonia; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Along with both of his parents and his wife, L.C. was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Graveside Services in loving remembrance and to honor L.C.'s life will be officiated by Pastor Bob Hillyar on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Delta City Cemetery, with Military Graveside Honors being conducted by American Legion Wilson Head Post No. 97.

Darlene Stone
Loved Family, Traveling
May 8, 1926 - Oct. 6, 2000
HOTCHKISS - Darlene Stone, age 74, a resident of Delta County since 1935, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Horizons Care Center at Eckert.
Born on May 8, 1926, in Benedict, Kan., Darlene Polson was the daughter of Irvin and Edith (Honaker) Polson. She spent her childhood in Crawford, graduated from Crawford High School in 1944, and continued her education at Blair Business College in Colorado Springs.
Darlene was joined in marriage, for a lifetime partnership, to J.B. Stone on Nov. 14, 1945, in Crawford, Colo. They were the parents of four daughters and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year in November.
She worked for Garbers Clothing in Hotchkiss and was employed at various other jobs in the area. Prior to her retirement, Darlene was employed as a baker with City Market in Hotchkiss for several years.
She was a member of the Hotchkiss First Baptist Church and a past member of various organizations in the area.
The love and joy of Darlene's life was her family and she loved to travel with her husband and her daughters. She also found happiness and enjoyment in working jigsaw puzzles, flower gardening, and walking.
Survivors very grateful to share Darlene's life include her husband, J.B. Stone, of Hotchkiss; and four daughters: Janice and husband George McCabe, of Hotchkiss; Carol and husband Wes Spore, of Gunnison; Terry and husband Don Hatfield, of Norwood; and Diana and husband Brad Meek, of Hotchkiss.
Darlene was the proud and loving grandmother of four precious granddaughters: Karen and husband Jim Henderson, of Broomfield; Tisha and husband Tom LaFramboise, of Norwood; Kerri Spore and Kelli Spore, both of Gunnison; two grandsons: Kevin McCabe and wife Melanie, of Grand Junction; Alan Hatfield, of Norwood; and four great-grandchildren: Samantha and Makalah Henderson; and Ty and Trever LaFramboise.
Other family survivors include one brother, Duane Polson and wife Pat, of Crawford; one sister, Eloise Christian, of Naturita; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by both of her parents, and one brother, Dorrel Polson.
Private visitation will be held.
Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Darlene's life will be officiated by Pastors Bryan Newman and Fred Thompson on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Hotchkiss First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow the service in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
at Crawford.

Donnie L. Avila
Loved Life, Family, Outdoors
Nov. 12, 1955 - Oct. 3, 2000
OLATHE - Lifetime Olathe resident, Donnie L. Avila, age 44, died of a sudden illness Tuesday morning, Oct. 3, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital & Medical Center at Grand Junction. Donnie was a dedicated employee for the Olathe school district and he loved his job. He was a proud and active participant in school activities.
Donnie L. Avila, the son of John Avila and Elizabeth (Vigil) Avila, was born on Nov. 12, 1955, in Olathe, Colo., where he spent his childhood, attended Olathe High School, grew to adulthood, and live his entire lifetime until the time of his death.
Donnie and Lois Roper had shared eight years together and were united in marriage on Feb. 4, 1999.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Olathe.
Donnie loved life, the great outdoors, spending time with his family and in the yard. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and four-wheeler rider.
To lose Donnie at age 44 is to miss knowing part of ourselves. All those who knew and loved Donnie know just how fortunate they are to have him leave his footprints in their hearts. Love has always been and love is today nothing changes that.
Survivors very grateful to share Donnie's life include his wife, Lois Avila, of Olathe; one daughter, Melanie Sierra Avila, of Montrose; three sons: John and Justin Avila, of Montrose; Derek Avila, of Delta; and two stepsons: Jason Love, of Glenwood Springs; and Nick Love, of Clinton, Mo.
Other family survivors include his parents, John and Eizabeth Avila, of Olathe; one brother, Larry Avila and wife Roberta, of Olathe; and two sisters: Connie Garcia Avila, of Montrose; and Marie and husband John Willoughby, of Villa Rica, Ga.
Donnie was preceded in death by two brothers: Ken and Johnny Lee Avila.
Vigil for the deceased will be recited on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Olathe.
Funeral Mass in loving remembrance and to honor Donnie's life will be officiated by The Rev. Dan Huber on Friday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Rite of Committal will follow the Mass in the Olathe Cemetery.

Passionate About Sports
Aug. 19, 1922 - Sept. 29, 2000
GRAHAM, Texas - Patricia MacArnold was born in Enid, Okla., on Aug. 19, 1922, the daughter of Ivan Jack and Billie MacArnold. She died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, in Graham, Texas, at the age of 78.
Patricia graduated from Enid High School and attended Phillips University.
She was joined in marriage, for a lifetime partnership, to Dean Boles in Anadarko, Okla. They lived in Montrose, Colo., for many years.
Patricia was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and a former member of the Montrose Christian Church of Montrose. Patricia and Dean served as Past Assistant State Directors of Colorado Good Sams Travel Club and were members of the San Juan Sams of Montrose.
Patricia was a loving, dedicated mother, homemaker, PTA president, regional director of Camp Fire Girls, and Central Christian Church Sunday School Director in Enid, Okla.
She was passionate about sports of all kinds, especially fishing and football. Patricia loved and enjoyed traveling in the RV with her husband of 58 years.
Survivors very grateful to share Patricia's life include her husband, Dean Boles, of the family home in Graham, Texas; one daughter Judy and husband Kenneth Walls, also of Graham, Texas; and one son, David Boles, of Frisco, Texas.
She was the proud and loving grandmother of five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one sister, Betty and husband Walter Scheffe, of Enid, Okla.; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by both of her parents and one grandson, Christopher Walls.

Harold Louis 'Red' Bourquin
Retired Truck Driver
May 29, 1922 - Sept. 29, 2000
PAONIA - Harold Louis "Red" Bourquin, age 78, a retired truck driver and a resident of Paonia for 12 years, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, in the Paonia Care Center at Paonia.
Harold Louis Bourquin, the son of Willis Bourquin and Louis (Laurent) Bourquin, was born on May 29, 1922, in Flagler, Colo., where he spent his childhood. He attended high school in Texarodo and Flagler, Colo.
Red was joined in marriage, for a lifetime partnership, to Neva Jean Briney on April 15, 1956, in Wickenburg, Ariz. They were the parents of two children and were privileged to share 44 wonderful years of marriage this year in April.
The Bourquins lived in Granby, Colo., from 1955 until 1988 when they moved to Montrose where Red made his home until the time of his death.
Red had many special interests and hobbies during his lifetime that brought him happiness and satisfaction including building bird houses, building dog houses, rodeoing, calf roping, steer wrestling, dancing, square dancing, and calling square dances.
Survivors very grateful to share Red's life include his wife, Neva Bourquin, of Paonia; one son, Lynn Bourquin and wife Stephanie, of Granby; one daughter, Jean and husband Lloyd Kelley, of Englewood; and one precious grandchild.
Other family survivors include two brothers: Paul Bourquin, of Otis; and Harry Bourquin, of Bloomington, Nev.
Red was preceded in death by both of his parents and two brothers.
Memorial Services in loving remembrance and to honor Red's life will be officiated by Ted Alanko on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia. The service will conclude at the chapel.

Charles P. Bromley
Loved Trains, Traveling

MONTROSE - Charles P. Bromley, also known as Chuck, age 75, of Montrose, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27, 2000, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Charles P. Bromley, the son of Charles D. Bromley and Priscilla (Price) Bromley, was born on Aug. 24, 1925, in Boulder, and spent his youth in several places, including Madison, New Jersey, San Diego, St. Louis, and Denver.
In 1943, during World War II, Charles enlisted in the United States Army and saw combat as an infantryman in France and Germany. After his discharge in 1946, he enrolled in the University of Colorado at Boulder, and in 1950, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Geology.
On July 30, 1949, he married Barbara Clark, and last summer they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family in Almont.
Charles' career spanned over 33 years as a geologist, mining engineer, and nuclear engineer. He ran his own mining company, and prospected for the Atomic Energy Commission in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Montana. He supervised nuclear engineering jobs in such diverse places as the Nevada Test Site, Mississippi, Panama and Colombia, the Aleutian Island, Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, and Germany.
He was an active member of the Raggedy Ass Miners Association.
Charles loved to travel and meet people, and he and Barbara went all over the world by boat, train, plane, and car. Before he had to quit traveling, Charles had been to over 75 percent of the counties in the United States. Charles especially loved trains, the outdoors, history, and genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bromley, of Montrose; four sons: Kirby Bromley and wife Flavina (grandson Loren, and granddaughters: Jenny, Kimberly, and Ruth), of Lodge Grass, Mont.; Keith Bromley and wife Cori, of Seattle, Wash.; Craig Bromley (grandsons: Peter and Luke), of Lander, Wyo.; and Charles "Cory" Bromley and wife Monika (grandson Cody, and granddaughters: K.D., Kylie, and Kassie), of Aurora.
Other family members include two brothers: Jim Bromley, of Bethesda, Md.; and John Bromley, of Greeley.
Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Services in loving remembrance and to honor Charles' life will be officiated on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.
