Raymond Atsushi Okubo

CEDAREDGE - Raymond Atsushi Okubo, age 78, a resident of Cedaredge for four years, died on Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.
Raymond Atsushi Okubo, the son of Hichizo Okubo and Chieko (Takaoka) Okubo, was born on June 18, 1921, in Maui, Hawaii, where he spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood.
In 1974, Raymond married Ritsuko Ninomiya in Oahu, Hawaii. The couple loving welcomed two sons and two daughters born to their union.
Prior to his retirement, Raymond worked as a tourist driver in Hawaii.
Four years ago, the Okubos moved from Hawaii to Cedaredge, where Raymond made his home until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Buddist Church, SGI, in Denver.
Raymond had a passion and love for photography.
Survivors grateful for having shared Raymond's life are his wife, Ritusko Okubo, of Cedaredge; two sons: Ralph Okubo and wife June, of Wyoming; Ronald Okubo and wife Yong-Suk, of Hawaii; and two daughters: Maxine and husband Richard Debrucque, of Eckert; and Angel and husband Michael Montaine, of Hawaii.
Raymond was the proud and loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren; and the great-grandfather of eight grandchildren.
Other family survivors include five sisters.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Hichizo and Chieko Okubo.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements were handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
Louise Stephens
'Beloved Wife and Mother'
Oct. 20, 1929 - Oct. 31, 1999
OLATHE - Louise Stephens, a resident of Olathe since 1964, died Sunday evening, Oct. 31, 1999, in her home at Olathe, 11 days after celebrating her 70th birthday.
Louise Reeves, the daughter of Olive Reeves and Ethel V. (Allen) Reeves, was born on Oct. 20, 1929, in Camp Verde, Ariz., where she spent her childhood, graduated from the Camp Verde High School, and grew to adulthood.
Louise married Harry E. "Buddy" Stephens Jr. on Sept. 7, 1948 in Prescott, Ariz. Louise and Buddy lovingly welcomed one son and one daughter born to their union. They were privileged to share their 51st year of marriage this year on Sept. 7.
In 1964, the Stephens family moved from Camp Verde, Ariz. to Olathe and farmed on the Old River Road, where Louise made her home until the time of her death.
The main focus, love, and joy of Louise's life was her family and farm. She worked very hard helping with the farm and will be loving remembered for being a wonderful cook.
Survivors grateful for having shared Louise's life are her husband, Harry E. "Buddy" Stephens; one son, Eddie Stephens and wife Donna; one daughter, Julie Stephens; and two grandchildren: Amy and Scott Stephens, all of Olathe.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers and sisters.
At her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Francis R. Stockdale
Prestigious Man of Vision
Oct. 25, 1912 - Oct. 31, 1999
CORTEZ - Cortez mourns the loss of a great man of vision, who was so instrumental in the development and leadership of Cortez, Francis R. Stockdale, who died on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Vista Grande Nursing Home, six days after celebrating his 87th birthday.
Francis R. Stockdale, the son of Francis Marion Stockdale and Laura Bell (Booth) Stockdale, was born on Oct. 25, 1912, in Norwood, Colo.
At the age of 15, Francis joined the United States National Guard and then in 1940 he enlisted with the United States Army where he proudly served his country during World War II.
Francis married Joephine Mildred Jordan on May 1st in Abilene, Texas. Francis and Josephine lovingly welcomed two sons and two daughters born to their union.
Francis was a man of vision, founding the Basin Industrial Bank in Cortez, and developing the Paradise Village and McBride Subdivisions. He also helped establish the first City Market store in Cortez.
Francis also held numerous memberships in Cortez. He was a charter member of Cortez Elks Lodge No. 1789, belonged to the Rotary Club, Cortez Chamber of Commerce, and was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Church of Cortez.
Survivors grateful for having shared Francis' life are his wife, Jo Stockdale, of Cortez; two sons: Charles Stockdale and wife Peggy, of Sun City, Ariz.; Jon Stockdale and wife Deidra, of Cortez; and two daughters: Saundra and husband Garth Davies; and Cindy and husband Clay Dickson, all of Cortez.
Francis was the proud and loving grandfather of six grandchildren: Mike Stockdale, of Sheboygan, Wis.; Stephanie Berger, of Denver; Chris Neal, of New Jersey; Kelly Neal, of Wyoming; and Brandon and Ashlee Dickson, both of Cortez.
Other family survivors include one sister, Celia Shultz, of Montrose; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor and celebrate Francis' life will be officiated by The Rev. Dennis Garrou on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. in St. Barnabas of the Valley Episcopal Church in Cortez.
Interment will follow the service in the Cortez Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Ertel Funeral Home of Cortez.

Elnora M. Wilson
Loving Mother, Grandmother
Nov. 17, 1926 - Oct. 30, 1999
DELTA - Elnora M. Wilson, age 72, a homemaker and a resident of Delta for 34 years, died on Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in her home at Delta.
Elnora M. Pierson, the daughter of James Pierson and Zella (Sinclair) Pierson, was born on Nov. 17, 1926, in Lynch, Neb., where she spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood.
Elnora married William Nicolas Wilson on March 7, 1947, in Lynch, Neb. Elnora and William lovingly welcomed four sons and two daughters born to their union.
The Wilsons moved from Nebraska to Delta 34 years ago, where Elnora made her home until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 28, 1993.
Survivors left to cherish their mother's precious memory are four sons: Billy Wilson; Phil Wilson and wife Janet; Johnny Wilson and wife Gayle, all of Delta; David Ward Wilson, of Tennessee; and two daughters: Rozella and husband Byers Kroschel; and Sue and husband Larry Brown, all of Delta.
Elnora was the proud and loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one sister, Maxilee and husband Leslie Paris, of Delta.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elnora was also preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Pierson; and one sister, Joyce Todd.
No services are planned. Arrangements were handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
Kenneth Albert Bolle
Retired Truck Driver
May 30, 1909 - Oct. 27, 1999
DELTA - Kenneth Albert Bolle, age 90, a retired truck driver and a resident of Delta since 1992, died of cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, in the Integrated Health Services at Delta.
Kenneth Albert Bolle, the son of Harry Edwin Bolle and Blanch D. (Council) Bolle, was born on May 30, 1909 in Perry, Iowa, where he spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood.
Kenneth married Lela Alberta Price, who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1941.
On Nov. 15, 1941, he married Grace P. Durfey Willetts. Grace preceded Kenneth in death on Nov. 14, 1987 in Pasadena, Calif.
Prior to his retirement in 1974, Kenneth worked as a truck driver for Crown Radiator in Pasadena, Calif.
After living in Duarte, Calif. for 33 years, Kenneth moved to Delta in 1992 where he made his home until the time of his death.
Survivors include one son, Richard Eugene Bolle and wife Sharon, of Carrollton, Texas; and two daughters: Sandra Rae and husband Joseph Dombroski and Margaret Ann Vickerson, all of Delta.
Kenneth was the proud and loving grandfather of two granddaughters: JoNell Herron and Leslie Freshour; four grandsons: Michael Seibert, Bud Seibert, Greg Bolle, Patrick Page; and the great-grandfather of four great-granddaughters: Amanda Seibert, Katie Herron, Kelly Herron, Ashley Freshour; and one great-grandson, James Seibert.
In addition to his father and mother and both of his wives, Kenneth was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
No Funeral Service will be held.

Henry M. "Bud" Hill
Music Evangelist
July 16, 1939 - Oct. 25, 1999
PARACHUTE - A 25-year Colorado resident, Henry M. "Bud" Hill, age 60, of Parachute, died on Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital at Grand Junction.
Henry M. Hill, the son of George W. Hill and Frankie (Mason) Hill, was born on July 16, 1939, in Big Spring, Texas, where he spent his childhood, graduated from high school, and grew to adulthood. Bud continued to further his education at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and Golden Gate Baptist Seminary in Mill Valley, Caif.
During the Korean Conflict, Bud served his country in the United States Army.
He married Patricia A. Tegtman on July 3, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev., and a son and a daughter were born to their union. Bud and Patricia were privileged to share 20 loving years of marriage this year in July.
The Hills lived in Rifle for 10 years and Bud had been a music evangelist for the last seven years.
He was a member of the Crown Peak Baptist Church of Parachute, and was an associate pastor and a Religious Education and Music Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of Colorado for 10 years.
Bud's calling in life, that he absolutely loved and had a great passion for, was evangelism leading people to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Grateful for having shared Bud's life are his wife, Patricia Hill, of Parachute; one son, Michael Hill and wife Genny, of Marysville, Calif.; and one brother, George Hill and wife Greta, of San Angelo, Texas.
Bud was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor and celebrate Bud's life will be officiated on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Crown Peak Baptist Church in Parachute. The service will conclude at the church.
Interment preceded the service in the Delta City Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc. of Delta.

Maurice Albert "Cowboy" Holvoet
Rancher, Retired Carpenter

HOTCHKISS - Maurice Albert "Cowboy" Holvoet, age 79, a rancher, retired carpenter, and a resident of Hotchkiss for 25 years, died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, in his home at Hotchkiss.
Maurice Albert Holvoet, the son of Charlie Holvoet and Alice (Coulsaut) Holvoet, was born on June 14, 1920, in Hotchkiss, Colo., where he spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood.
Cowboy lived and worked in Fairbanks, Alaska until returning to Hotchkiss where he made his home until the time of his death.
He married Donna C. Krogh on Oct. 13, 1975, in Las Vegas, Nev. Cowboy and Donna had marked their 24th year of married life 13 days before Cowboy's death.
He was a member of the Northern Alaska Carpenters Union, and the Roberts Short Stop Coffee Club.
Above all, Cowboy loved and enjoyed cattle, horses, and coffee shop gossip.
Survivors include his wife, Donna C. Holvoet, of Paonia; two sons: Daniel Maurice Holvoet and wife Marilyn, of Soldotna, Alaska; Jeffrey Lynn Holvoet, of Paonia; and three grandchildren.
Cowboy was the last surviving member of his parents and siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Cowboy's life will be officiated on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss. The service will conclude at the chapel.

James W. "Willie" Watson
North Fork Farmer/Rancher

GRAND JUNCTION North Fork farmer and rancher, James W. "Willie" Watson, age 85, a resident of Grand Junction for two and a half years, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, in the Integrated Health Services LaVilla Grande Care Center at Grand Junction.
Born on July 30, 1914 in Hotchkiss, Colo., James W. Watson was the son of James Wesley and Cora (Snyder) Watson. He spent his childhood in the Hotchkiss and Crawford area and received his education at Hotchkiss, Crawford, and Missouri Flats near Needle Rock.
Willie married Mary Evelyn Taylor on Sept. 24, 1941, in Delta, Colo. Willie and Mary lovingly welcomed two sons and one daughter born to their union. Mary preceded Willie in death on Nov. 12, 1995, in Delta.
Prior to moving to Grand Junction two and a half years ago where he made his home until the time of his death, Willie lived in Hotchkiss, Crawford, and Paonia.
Special interests that Willie especially loved and enjoyed were hunting and fishing.
Survivors left to cherish Willie's memory are two sons: David W. Watson and wife Linda, of Craig; J.T. Watson and wife Barbara, of Lakewood; and one daughter, Regina Kendell, of Craig.
Willie was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and the great-grandfather of eight great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include two sisters: Mamie and husband Grant Ferrier, of Crawford; and Zula Simon, of Handford, Calif.
In addition to his parents and wife, Willie was also preceded in death by one sister, Veta Summers.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 31, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss.
Graveside Services in loving remembrance and to honor Willie's life will be officiated by The Rev. Eddie Scroggins on Friday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
at Crawford.
