OLATHE - Longtime Olathe resident, Lois Margaret Fields, age 77, died Thursday evening, Oct. 14, 1999, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Lois Margaret Thornburg, the daughter of William Lewis Thornburg and Hazel (Honeyman) Thornburg, was born on Nov. 20, 1921, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa. When she was 4 years old, Lois moved with her family to Iowa. The Thornburg family moved to Colorado Springs when Lois was approximately 10 years old. In the spring of 1934 they came to Western Colorado and established their home in Olathe, where Lois made her home until the time of her death.
Lois and James Franklin "Frank" Fields were married by The Rev. Lewis Thornburg on Dec. 15, 1939 in Olathe. Their union was blessed with one son and one daughter and they would have celebrated 60 loving years of marriage this year in December.
Prior to her retirement, Lois was employed as a rural postal carrier.
Lois was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Olathe until the doors were closed. She then attended church at the Presbyterian Church of Delta. She belonged to the Heritage Club in Montrose and enjoyed getting to do some traveling. Lois was a wonderful organist and pianist, playing for the church and services. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and always having something good to say about everyone.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Frank Fields; one son, Lewis Franklin Fields; and one daughter, Myrnice "Annie" and husband Don Rundberg, all of Olathe.
Lois was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Jimmy Fields and wife Julie, of Montrose; Janet and husband Kirk James, of Erie; Sharil A. Rundberg, of Olathe; and the great-grandmother of two great-grandchildren: Kayleen and Austin Fields, of Montrose.
Other family survivors include a sister, Marjorie and husband John Smrdu, of Colorado Springs.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Thornburg.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Lois' life will be officiated by Pastor Bill Forbes on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose.
Interment will follow the service in the Olathe Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.
Marvin Douglas Feutz

MONTROSE - Former Hotchkiss and Delta resident, Marvin Douglas Feutz, age 94, of Montrose, died on Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in the San Juan Living Center at Montrose.
Born on Sept. 23, 1905 in Hotchkiss, Colo., Marvin Douglas Feutz was the son of Rudolph and Lovella (Douglas) Feutz.
Marvin married Mereatha Evelyn Fluke on Dec. 31, 1926 in Delta, Colo. Mereatha preceded Marvin in death on Aug. 12, 1993.
Marvin lived in Hotchkiss and Delta where he was engaged in farming and did carpentery work prior to moving to Montrose where he resided until the time of his death.
He attended the Delta United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, William Marvin Feutz, of Cerrales, N.M.; one granddaughter, Lucia Dupree; and one great-grandchild, Andrea Dupree.
Other family survivors include one nephew, Earl D. Monroe, of Delta; and one cousin, Clayton Douglas, of Hotchkiss.
In addition to his wife, Mereatha, Marvin was also preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Aberaham Feutz; his mother, Lovella Agatha (Douglas) Feutz; and one sister.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Marvin's life will be officiated on Monday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery, L.L.P. in Delta.
Committal of the cremated remains will follow the service in the Mesa View Cemetery

Dorothy A. Blankenship
Greatest Loves: Music, Dancing

MONTROSE - Former longtime Olathe resident, Dorothy A. Blankenship, age 85, a homemaker and resident of Montrose since May of 1998, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 13, 1999, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy A. Garrison was born on March 7, 1914, in Olathe, Colo., the daughter of Walter R. Garrison and Loretta B. (Anderson) Garrison. She spent her childhood in Montrose, graduated from the Montrose County High School, and grew to adulthood here.
In her early years, Dorothy and her parents moved to Seattle, Wash. during World War II and worked for Boeing Aircraft and then returned to the Montrose area.
Dorothy married Clement A. Blankenship on Feb. 28, 1950, in Albuquerque, N.M. They established their home in the Olathe area where they lived for 47-1/2 years prior to moving to Montrose in May of 1998. The Blankenships celebrated 49 loving years of marriage in February this year.
Clement preceded Dorothy in death on Sept. 5, 1999 in Montrose.
The greatest loves of Dorothy's life were music and dancing. Her other favorite interests were shipping, fashion, and wearing the jewelry her husband Clement made. She especially enjoyed the Denver Broncos and baseball. Above all, Dorothy's family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were so very special to her.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheri Blankenship Tobin, of Colorado Springs; one grandson, Patrick Tobin and wife LeAnn, of Montrose; and three granddaughters: Judy and husband Jerry Hollingshead; Bridget and husband Joe Bollinger, all of Montrose; and Erin Tobin, of Austin, Texas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clement.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Dorothy's life will be officiated by Minister Tim Smith on Monday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow the service in the Olathe Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Clifford H. Ginther

CEDAREDGE - Clifford H. Ginther, age 76, a resident of Cedaredge for 13 years, died on Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital at Delta.
Clifford H. Ginther, the son of John and Amelia (Dietrich) Ginther, was born on Jan. 31, 1923, in Omaha, Neb.
During World War II, he served his country in the United State Army.
Clifford married Janice Frances Remington on March 27, 1945, in Chesterfield, Ind. Their union was blessed with one daughter. Janice preceded Clifford in death.
He lived in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Chicago, Ill.; and Omaha, Neb., prior to moving to Cedaredge 13 years ago where he remained until the time of his death.
Clifford was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Delta and belonged to the Thunder Mountain Hub Wheelers.
His special interests and hobbies that added meaning and pleasure to his life were: Gardening, fishing, woodworking, and daily walks with his neighbors and their dogs.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia and husband Bruce Sutherland; and two grandchildren: Lauren Sutherland and Dane Sutherland, all of Melbourne, Fla.
Other family survivors include his father, John Ginther, of Omaha, Neb.; and two sisters: Judy Reed, of Richardson, Texas; and Helen Christensen, of Omaha, Neb.
In addition to his wife, Janice, Clifford was also preceded in death by his mother, Amelia (Dietrich) Ginther; and one sister, Sr. Betty Irene Ginther.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Clifford's life were officiated on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Delta.
Interment followed the service in the Cedaredge Cemetery, with arrangements handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

Virginia May Fletcher

HOTCHKISS - A former Arvada resident for 55 years, Virginia May Fletcher, age 86, a resident of Hotchkiss for a year and a half, died on Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at her home in Hotchkiss.
Virginia May Bahmeier, the daughter of Albert Henry Bahmeier and Anna (Arthur) Bahmeier, was born on March 27, 1913, in Denver, Colo. She spent her childhood in Denver and attended the Alcott Elementary and the Skinner Junior High School.
Virginia married Leamon A. Fletcher on Sept. 2, 1939, in Denver, Colo. Leamon preceded Virginia in death.
Virginia was a homemaker and worked as a dietary services manager at the Mountain Vista Nursing Home.
She moved to Hotchkiss a year and a half ago where she made her home until the time of her own death.
Virginia was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church of Wheat Ridge.
She especially loved and enjoyed reading, church activities, and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters: Claressa Fletcher and Jeanette and husband Bill Habenicht, all of Hotchkiss; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Other family survivors include one brother, Fred Bahmeier, of Tucson, Ariz.; and three sisters: Clara McCoy and Sally Peterson, both of Denver; and Olivia Kirkpatrick, of Lakewood.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leamon, Virginia was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Moore-Howard Berkeley Park in Denver.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Virginia's life will be officiated by The Revs. James Amend and William Stoddart on Friday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangel Baptist Church in Wheat Ridge.
Interment will follow the service in the Arvada Cemetery
at Arvada, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc. of Hotchkiss and Moore-Howard Berkeley Park of Denver.

Bonita M. "Bonnie" Duran

CEDAREDGE - Bonita M. "Bonnie" Duran, age 68, a Cedaredge resident for two years, died on Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at her home in Cedaredge.
Bonita M. Cress, the daughter of Walter Henry Cress and Wilma Hazel (Blevins) Cress, was born on Nov. 19, 1930, in Denver, Colo. She graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1948.
Bonnie's marriage ended in divorce.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a computer programmer with the Air Force Accounting & Finance Center.
Bonnie moved from Arvada to Cedaredge two years ago where she made her home until the time of her death.
She loved and enjoyed Bible Study, ceramics, and helping with Project Literacy U.S.
Grateful for having shared Bonnie's life are her two daughters: Pam and husband Larry Trujillo, of Parker; Penny and husband Lynn Manahan, of Cedaredge; and three grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, Gene Scheve and wife Linda, of Eckert; one sister, Dorris Mae and husband Louie Roberts, of Arvada; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family services in remembrance and to honor Bonnie's life will be held.
Cremation has taken place, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

DELTA Ivola Rose Beckley, age 81, of Delta, died on Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in J.V.'s Easy Living at Delta.
Ivola Rose Blankenship, the daughter of John and Pearl (Benton) Blankenship, was born on Aug. 11, 1918, in Colona, Colo., where she spent her early childhood. Ivola graduated from Cedaredge High School with the class of 1937.
She married William Beckley on March 10, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ivola was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.
Prior to moving to Cedaredge in 1981, Ivola lived in California for 40 years.
She was a member of the Cedaredge United Methodist Church.
Ivola especially enjoyed traveling, reading, horses, and rodeos. She loved and delighted in her niece, nephews, and her roses.
Graveside Services in remembrance and to honor Ivola's life will be officiated on Friday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Cedaredge Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

Carl N. Brown
Greatest Love: Lord Jesus

TAMPA, Fla. - Carl N. Brown, age 46, a former Montrose mathematics teacher, died on Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, in Tampa, Fla.
Carl N. Brown, the son of Lester Brown and Annabell (Martin) Brown, was born on March 13, 1953, at the family farm in Crescent, Okla. He spent his early school years at Fairmont, Okla., and graduated from high school in Cashion, Okla., in 1971.
Carl married Terry Smith in August of 1971 and their union was blessed with two daughters: Rachel and Sarah. Carl and Terry had just celebrated 28 loving years of marriage this year in August.
He graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Okla., in 1975, receiving his Master's degree in 1983. Carl taught school and coached sports for six years in Oklahoma before moving to Colorado, where he taught and coached in Montrose County School District Re-1J for 11 years beginning at Centennial Junior High School and then at Columbine Middle School.
Carl's entire life was spent either as a student or teacher. He was a jeep tour driver for San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours in Ouray for 10 summers and absolutely loved being in the mountains.
Most recently Carl had attended the River Bible Institute in Tampa, Fla., where he was preparing for full-time ministry. The Brown family returned to Montrose in August, and shortly thereafter Carl was diagnosed with cancer.
Carl's greatest love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he delighted in sharing that love with those around him. Carl was a loving husband and father, and truly cherished family time with his wife and two daughters.
So grateful for having shared Carl's life are his wife, Terry Brown; and two daughters: Rachel, age 16; and Sarah, age 13, all of the family home in Montrose.
Other family survivors include his mother, Ann Brown, of Guthrie, Okla.; stepmother, Edna Brown, of Enid, Okla.; one sister, Eva Earline Brown, of Ada, Okla.; one brother, Dale Brown, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; as well as nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Lester Brown; and one sister, Barbara Cox.
A Memorial Service in remembrance and to honor and celebrate Carl's life will be officiated in Oklahoma.
