Barbara Coleman
Always Giving Of Herself

DELTA - Barbara Coleman, age 72, a resident of Delta since 1944, died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, three days before she would have celebrated her 73rd birthday.
Barbara Lugard, the daughter of George and Ola (Morris) Lugard, was born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Gate, Okla., where she spent her childhood until she was 9 years old. She then moved with her family to the Delta/ Olathe area, graduating from the Olathe High School with the class of 1944.
On Dec. 16, 1949, Miss Lugard married Chester "Chet" Coleman in Delta. The Colemans established their home in Delta following their marriage, were blessed with two sons and one daughter, and had the privilege of celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary last year in December.
Mrs. Coleman was employed as a telephone operator in the Olathe office from 1944 to 1950. She then went to work as bookkeeper for the family-owned auto body shop.
She was a Christian all of her life and a member of the Thundermountain Wheelers.
Mrs. Coleman was always giving of herself to her family and friends. She was very active in her children and grandchildren's lives and sporting events. She especially enjoyed stained-glass making and ATV four-wheeling. Mrs. Coleman was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Coleman's life include her husband, Chet Coleman; two sons: Les Coleman and wife Jackie Schoonover; Ed Coleman and wife LaDonna; and one daughter, Ronda and husband Jeff Wrich, all of Delta.
She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Scott Wrich, of Delta; Jennier Wrich, of York, Neb.; and Janae Wrich, of Delta.
Other family survivors include two brothers: George Lugard and wife Mary; Sheldon Lugard and wife Wilma, all of Delta; three sisters: Corneda Lang, of Montrose; Jean and husband Charlie Dixon; Marion and husband Elmer Morris, all of Delta; and one sister-in-law, Frances Lugard, of Cedaredge.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walt Lugard; and one sister, Anna Boyd.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Coleman's life will be officiated by Don Bavor and Howard Cowan on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. from the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Interment will follow the service in the Delta City Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Jack D. Stone
Colorado State Patrol Lieutenant

MONTROSE - World War II veteran and retired Colorado State Patrol Lieutenant, Jack D. Stone, age 74, a longtime Montrose resident, died on Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Apache Junction, Ariz.
Jack D. Stone, the son of Jesse D. and Della F. (Creamer) Stone, was born on July 9, 1924, in Minneola, Kan.
During World War II, Mr. Stone serviced his country in the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Stone joined the Colorado State Patrol on June 1, 1953. After being promoted to a lieutenant on July 1, 1971, he transferred to Montrose where he worked until his retirement from the Colorado State Patrol on Aug. 2, 1979.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He greatly enjoyed going fishing and was a member of the Montrose Elks Lodge.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Stone's life include two sons: Dan Stone, of Littleton; Dave Stone, of Newport Beach, Calif.; and one daughter, Beverly Locke, of Ulysses, Kan.
He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, Bob Stone, of Granada.
Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Stone's life will be officiated by The Rev. Paul Hindman on Sunday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. from the Minnis Mortuary Chapel in Minneola, Kan.
Inurnment will follow the service in the Minneola Cemetery

Ronald Stephen Roehler
Teacher and Businessman

HIGHLAND, Calif. - Ronald Stephen Roehler was born on April 29, 1944, in Pittsburg, Pa., the son of Frederick G. and Charlotte J. Roehler. He died on Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at the age of 54 from complications of cancer in Highland, Calif.
Mr. Roehler, a resident of Highland, Calif., for 20 years, was a teacher with Rialto Unified School District for 30 years and was owner and operator of Hi-Ho Christmas Tree Farm in Highland for 23 years.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Roehler's life include his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth Ann Roehler, of Highland, Calif.; one son, Ronald Stephen Roehler II, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and five daughters: Stephanie Sue Roehler, of Highland, Calif.; Monica Jane and husband Jeff Johnson, of Cookeville, Tenn.; Kimberly Janev and husband Kevin Haugh, of Redlands, Calif.; Heidi Jeanne Roehler, of Riverside, Calif.; and Kirsten Nicole Roehler, of Togo, Africa.
He was the proud grandfather of two granddaughters: Gabrielle Janev Haugh and Emily Jane Johnson.
Other family survivors include his parents, Frederick G. and Charlotte J. Roehler, of Centerville, Ind.; and three brothers: Frederick G. Roehler II, of Lancaster, Calif.; Cory Scott Roehler, of Centerville, Ind.; and Randall D. Roehler, of Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Roehler's life will be officiated on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 3 p.m. from the Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., in San Bernardino, Calif. The service will conclude at the chapel.
Graveside services will be officiated on Friday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Cedaredge Cemetery
at Cedaredge, Colo.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Bobbitt Memorial Chapel of San Bernardino, Calif., with local arrangements and local services being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Ross A. Koile
Husband, Father, Grandfather

CRAWFORD - A private family gathering will be held for Ross A. Koile, age 69, a rancher and resident of Crawford for 20 years, who died of heart failure Sunday morning, Jan. 3, 1999, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.
Born on Dec. 25, 1929, in Oelwein, Iowa, Ross A. Koile was the son of Harold and Doris (Cornish) Koile. He spent his childhood, graduated from South High School, and grew to adulthood in Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Koile served his country in the United States Army and Air Force.
On July 19, 1952, he married Adeline Lee in Omaha, Neb. The Koiles were blessed with one son and two daughters and were privileged to celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary last year in July.
Mr. Koile, a rancher, lived in Arvada until moving to Crawford 20 years ago where he made his home until the time of his death.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Koile's life include his wife, Adeline Koile, of Crawford; one son, Robert R. Koile, of Crawford; and two daughters: Linda L. Koile-Olson, of Steamboat Springs; and Kimberly E. Koile, of Grand Junction.
He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Other family survivors include two brothers: David Koile, of Plattsmouth, Neb.; Mike Mancuso, of Omaha, Neb.; and one sister, Sanda Mancuso, of Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Koile was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Garth Koile.
Marshall Hughes
He Loved The Land

MONTROSE - Marshall Hughes, age 72, of Montrose, died Saturday morning, Jan. 9, 1999, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital. His main focus and greatest love in life was the land and getting water to it. He served on the Colorado Game, Fish and Park Commission and through this commission he planned, developed, and dedicated the Miramonte Reservoir near Norwood.
The fourth child of seven children, Marshall Hughes was born on March 26, 1926, in Montrose, Colo., the son of Dan H. and Maidie (Atkinson) Hughes. He spent his childhood, graduated from the Montrose County High School with the class of 1944, and grew to adulthood in Montrose.
Mr. Hughes served his country for two years in the United States Navy.
On Feb. 1, 1947, he married Barbara Jean Rogers. The marriage later ended in divorce.
After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison in 1951, Mr. Hughes spent the next 30 years living and working as a rancher in Dry Creek Basin and Norwood where he ran the Hughes Ranch.
On May 1, 1986, Mr. Hughes married Patti Karels in Montrose, Colo.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Montrose, a lifetime Elks Lodge member, and belonged to the Colorado Wool Growers Association, the Soil Conservation Board, the San Miguel County Wool Growers, and the Colorado Cattlemen's Association.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Hughes' life include his wife, Patti Hughes, of Montrose; one son, Howard Marshall Hughes and wife September, of Norwood; one stepson, Eric John Christman, of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Sandra Eileen and husband Clarence Brasier; and one stepdaughter, Nancy N. and husband John Tucker, all of Montrose.
He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Wyatt Hughes, of Norwood; Melvin Brasier and wife Darci, of Grand Junction; Dustin Brasier; Camilla Jean Brasier; Emily Cheney, all of Montrose; and one great-grandson, Lester Marshall Brasier, of Grand Junction.
Other family survivors include three brothers: Charles P. Hughes; Jack Hughes and wife Josie, all of Montrose; Joe Hughes and wife LouAnn, of Loveland; and two sisters: Julianne Nelson, of Montrose; and Virginia and husband David Bunbury, of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older brother, Dan.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Hughes' life will be officiated by Deacon Mike Rovello on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose.
Interment will follow the service in Cedar Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Clement C. Huerkamp
An Avid Outdoors Man

DELTA - Clement C. "Clem" Huerkamp died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, following a short illness in the Delta County Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. A frequent visitor to Delta County over the past 30 years, Mr. Huerkamp had lived in Delta County the past two years to be near his two sons and their families.
Clement C. Huerkamp was born on March 21, 1908, in Iona, Minn., the son of Francis J. and Theresa Huerkamp. He was the youngest of 12 siblings who all preceded him in death.
Mr. Huerkamp was a farmer in southwestern Minnesota until the Depression and then spent the balance of his working years in the grain elevator business in Avoca and Iona, Minn.
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Huerkamp, an avid outdoors man, made extended hunting and fishing visits to Delta County. With his sons he frequently attended Ducks Unlimited and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation functions in Delta and Montrose.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Huerkamp's life include his wife of 60 years, Margaret Huerkamp, of Slayton, Minn.; two sons: Thomas Huerkamp and wife Mary Lou, of Austin, Colo.; David Huerkamp and wife Peggy, of Delta; two daughters: Karen Onken, of Slayton, Minn; and Kathleen Winter, of Sibley, Iowa.
He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services and interment will take place in Minnesota, with local arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Mabel Louise Crawford
Former Montrose Resident

CORTEZ - Mabel Louise Myers, the daughter of Joseph and Edna Myers, was born on Nov. 11, 1928, in Denver, Colo. Mrs. Crawford died on Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at the age of 70 in Cortez.
Mrs. Crawford was a former Montrose resident.
She loved and greatly enjoyed plants and gardening.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Crawford's life include her five children: Lynn Romero, of Kingman, Ariz.; Gary Crawford, of Nucla; Donna Johnson, of Montrose; Randy Crawford, of Elko, Nev.; and Debbie Boff, of Dolores.
Mrs. Crawford was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Melvin Franklin Bradshaw
World War II Veteran

PAYSON, Ariz. - Melvin F. Bradshaw was born at Redmesa, Colo., on Aug. 21, 1919, the son of Lester Melvin and Olive I. (Steele) Bradshaw. He died of a lingering illness on Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in Payson, Ariz., at the age of 79.
Mr. Bradshaw served his country in the military during World War II.
He worked as a miner and was a carpenter by trade.
He married Evelyn Gladden on Jan. 5, 1939, and they were blessed with seven children. Mr. Bradshaw died on the couple's 60th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Bradshaw greatly loved and enjoyed traveling and horses.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Bradshaw's life include his wife, Evelyn Bradshaw; four sons: Melvin H. Bradshaw and wife Linda, of Winslow, Ariz.; Danny Lynn Bradshaw and wife Jan; Audry Bradshaw and wife Arlene, all of Winnemucca, Nev.; Ivor Bradshaw and wife Wendy, of LaSalle, Utah; and two daughters: Sharlene and husband Dean Broadhead, of Deer Park, Wash.; and Nila Jean and husband Corwin Keltner, of Tooele, Utah.
He was the proud grandfather of 34 grandchildren and 80 great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, Reid Harold Bradshaw and wife Peggy, of Helper, Utah; two sisters: Bonnie and husband Eugene Wissel, of Montrose; Donna Hunsaker, of Blue Belt, Utah; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bradshaw was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Bradshaw; both of his parents, Lester Melvin and Olive Bradshaw, and four brothers: Robert L., Harold S., Ben A., and Reid Hall Bradshaw.
Graveside Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Bradshaw's life were officiated on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. in the LaSalle Cemetery
at LaSalle, Utah.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of Don W. Palmer of San Juan Mortuary.
